Came to know this work when I was about 20 and it made a deep impact on me, maybe because it is so dedicated to the clarinet and to close play. I feel Brahms got very personal in his clarinet works. I am now 59 ...
One can hear the harmonious majestic symmetry in the trio. The three performers are virtuosos. It is a pleasure to hear for the first time pianist Dejan Lazić. Fabulous sensitive pianist. Brahms composition is so peaceful it feels one's mind close to the celestial imagination.
REFLECTIVE, SENSUAL. ROMANTIC MUSIC. VERY CALMING makes one think of the past and prepare for the future with quiet confidence and happiness. however, is melancholy at times. some of the greatest music ever written...........

Extremely fine cello playing, among all the wonderful things about this performance. Was lucky to hear Sol Gabetta perform Haydn concerto in DC and she treated that like chamber music too.
The musical tone in Brahms Clarinet Trios has the symmetry and beauty of a melancholic mood, as stated by Mr G. Begni. It stirs emotions, suspenseful, gripping melancholic and historical. It reflects Brahms sad and lonely life.
Faithful performance of what the Master wanted to tell us. The merit of "MAIM" - MUSIC AS iNTENDED BY THE MASTER" (as Furtwaengler, Karajan ua showed and played) is somehow rare these days. And this is a correct and wonderful performance. Golden seal.
Faithful in spirit and clear in technique. The "Master" of composition gives us the musical score along with our knowledge of period stylistic traits. It is now up to us (modern performers and instruments) to bring it to our interpretation. After the pages are finished, the "Master" of composition must relinquish all artistic suggestions to the "Masters" of performance. These performers do just that and are "Masters" of personal interpretation and ensemble agreement. A few things were very modernized and I can't say I agree with them: The higher pitch and the equally tempered piano sort of spoil the artistic enrichment; but with what they had available (including the live set-up restrictions of the audio, they did as fine as we could have expected.
This trio uses r the same combination than the trio op. 11 of Beethoven, but the clarinet us used in a much more melancholic mood, though its low register. The voice of the cello adds a tone of its own to that mood. This is indeed an autumn song, the automn of Brahms' life, who had decided to stop composing but was pushed to go on when he discovered all the capacities of the clarinet with a virtuoso.
His late clarinetcompositions are his very "TOP compositions" in chambermusic because of his love for clarinetplayer Richard Mühlfeld. The piano- and celloparties are "a one and only" love declaration to the clarinet in music history, read Richard Mühlfeld: His "Fraulein klarinet"!

The recording sounds muffled because the mics are behind the clarinet and cello. I get that they wanted to get the piano, but the overall placement of the mics are not correct. Bit of a shame as these three played a beautifully executed performance. (and if there are mics in front of them, then they are simply to far away and I don't think there are any in front of them.) (hint: they can actually place the mics lower to the ground and out of video view point, just need to make sure they are sitting on a little piece of carpet. Believe me, you'll be surprised how well it works)
Has anyone noticed the clarinettist and the pianist smiling, grinning, a-chuckling and a-chortling? Thought not. The cellist is actually the "smiliest" of the 3. As if it mattered.
As a clarinetist I can tell you that we avoid vibrato. It is something that generally sounds bad on the instrument and is bad for our technique. We make up for it with beautiful, clear tone, and other musicality. Imagine telling a pianist to play with wide vibrato. It's just not something we do.

As if it mattered.
ich finde, sie spielt auch ein bißchen wie sie guckt...Sie passt nicht zu den andern beiden.
Lmao I love that last bit xD
The carinetist makes a terrible mistake in the beginning: He doesn't play the crotchet triplet, he changes the figures!
it's traditionally ok both ways.
@@thisistefan0503 Hmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm
Omg what an idiot! Performance ruined entirely.
Yes!! And, the page turner is a terrible distraction!!
A little Mozart our Roman..🤣🤣
The cellist plays constantly with vibrato(either wide or mostly narrow) , the clarinetist almost constantly without vibrato. I do not feel the music
As a clarinetist I can tell you that we avoid vibrato. It is something that generally sounds bad on the instrument and is bad for our technique. We make up for it with beautiful, clear tone, and other musicality. Imagine telling a pianist to play with wide vibrato. It's just not something we do.
@@IsaacW. some clarinetists do, but I agree that you just don't play Brahms with vibrato, the idea of it is just hilarious
@@welldarn5063 which is ironic, because the piece was written for clarinetist Richard Muhlfeld. And he was known to use lots of vibrato. Much like a violinist, which was his first instrument.
@@fernie51296 interesting! I knew he was a violinist, but I didn't know he carried vibrato over to the clarinet!
Great cello, ok pianist, dull clarinetist
"dUlL cLaRiNeTiSt" as in the principal clarinetist of the Berlin Philharmonic, who has his own record deal with DG, as well as collaborations with Yuja Wang? Ottensamer is who Leister hands the torch off to.
dull ears detected
One second of That clarinetist is worth gazillion times more than your whole life time stfu😂😂😂😂
❤❤❤
Que romântico, lindo demais...
