he can just install it the long way of the building , they might need to build seperate foundations/footers for the frame the crane will sit on , i mean its the weight of the crane and if its 7 ton rated abaut 14 tons max
Having been a crane inspector for 15 years I offer something you may not have thought of....All the motors that lift and move in the X and Y direction are three phase.....Unless I miss my guess three phase power is a long way down the road.... you can do single phase to three phase inverter converter system but it has high cost tied to it...Before you modify the rails I would check into the needed power. Hope this helps
If you want a grid connection for your workshop eventually, the electrical panels with transformers could be a good deal as the utility will charge you a mint to sell you a transformer.. I'd suggest paying an engineer or electrical inspector for a consult and seeing what size and voltage rating you might need and then keep an eye out for something that fits the bill..
Doubt he will have 3 phase 480 brought to his shop. The utility does not sell you a transformer. They usually charge you up to 49% of the cost to install the line to your property. They own the majority so they are responsible. You can, if so inclined to, buy power at high voltage and run your own lines but it is not cost effective unless you have a large farm or facility to do that.
Check the inside of the air tank for rust. I plug all the fitting holes then pour the correct paint/epoxy in and roll it around to coat all the inside. Remove plugs until ready for second coat. Makes tanks last 10 times longer. Daily draining or automatic dump valve are an absolute necessity.
I installed one of those uprights with 2.5 inch heavy wall copper pipe It followed a 25 HP refrigerated air drier and fed a 3000 foot closed loop air system 2 inch feeder 1.5" and 1" out the top air drops with a 16" drip leg below the draw off and bleeder valve. It was powered by a 100 HP screw air unit. Great system and every bench draw off had it's own drip leg. The upright was set up with a timer moisture auto bleed system which vented outside. If you have some small receivers they can be included and set at 1/4 system intervals. Yes they have battery operated moisture bleed offs> Good luck All the best I enjoy watching !
I find it weird that the Ferd with the knocky engine and the one with the clapped out transfer case sold for more than the first one you tried that was AOK other than needing a regen cycle. But i guess it was down to the accessories on the bed and the bed itself. Also if i lived in the states i'd go to these auctions just to test drive a buncha different equipment and machinery that i wouldent't get to drive otherwise.

That chain binder is really coarse threads... clean it as best you can--- then just submerge it in a tray of old oil and leave it there for a few weeks--- I've had good luck with old rusty tools that way; pick it up and work it loose once a day or so, and just keep letting it soak. I would suggest that you buy that Crane and put it up first, with proper concrete footings and everything else. And then later on assemble the building around it. That makes the most sense to me the crane might even be helpful as a Gantry and to move building materials around. And you sure could use the hell out of it in the meantime. This may require a little rain-proofing if the electrical boxes aren't really designed for outdoors but it's doable.

Word of encouragement, build the building after and around the required crane support verticals and running rails . Modifications are easier on paper, and way, way cheaper. Since your Kobelco has already served as a lifting device,be sure to put in a shop overhead door big enough for it to sling in what you want in the building. Once under the indoor crane, the load can be slung to anywhere the crane covers. Good choices, for "not sticking to a list". And air tanks are like sheds, you always wish you had a bigger one...

one of those electrical setups could fully power your ware house on the farm transforming the high line to usable power for lights welders etc...and you would pay less per kilowatt in the bargain..When you own the transformers etc...and will replace them if they bad every ....4 or 5 decades then you save $$$ and if you own the solar arrays you could take the darned thing off grid but again you assume the maintenance as needed which is why obsolescence has to be factored into the costs...I presume your warehouse will have an electrical room...kept dry and out of the weather ...from there you could feed all other buildings...and homes til you peaked the capacity ...High side power is much cheaper seen factories do this for years and they get their power for commercial rates
Regarding your air tank: I think you want to add a oneway valve on the output side and a oneway valve on the input side plus a overpressure valve which only lets air into the tank when your compressor nearly reached its shutdown point. This way you first fill the small tank on the compressor and the pressure rises very quickly in your whole system, while the large tank will only fill up when your compressor normally cut off. The compressor will then continue to run until the large tank is filled as wwll. When you use a large amount of air the large tank will continue to supply air to your system as long as the system pressure is below the tank pressure. This way it will supplement your air compressor when needed, while you can start working right away as soon as the small tank is full. Make sure to also add cutoff valves on the output side, to allow to cut the air tank off your system, as any small leak will otherwise cost you a lot of money if you don't use the air system for a while and the large tank will empty itself.
Very nice , personally I really like the auctions and appreciate you taking us along. I also like that you acknowledge the art work a lot of people do not see it like that. I really like the Honda and look forward to seeing what it needs to be usable again.. Thank you Matt and thumbs UP! 👍
Looks exactly like the cranes we got at work same colour grating everything they cme from somewhere in the U.S.A. on a wide load lowboy trailer to our shop in sask. Canada . I had to cut out about 7 or 8 feet from the middle and put the two halves back together and weld them back up. Now there 80 feet up in the south shop with a 20 ton and 50 ton crane hoist on them for lifting our tanks and coils of plate metal.
I’m sorry but that crane is going to be expensive to install! Sure it looks cool. I have been around those kind of cranes for a long time. In most cases they are seldom used and rarely justify the time and expense of their original installation costs, let alone maintenance and safety testing they are required to have. The motors are most likely 3 phase, so they will have to be replaced. Who is saying it even works properly and safely? To get the full capacity of the crane you will need a complete steel support structure installed, unless you plan to only use it at a fixed point. In that case there are way cheaper ways of accomplishing that. The Richie Bros. Auctions can make you buy crazy stuff! Good luck! I enjoyed the video Matt. It’s always interesting to see what is selling there. I keep thinking we will see your new shop from the drone. Oh well.
1/4" plate steel over 1/4" plate steel Gives you a 1/2" plate steel You can buy one if its cheap enough and make it twice as strong 1/2 the works done. You can deffently upgrade one to fit your needs with just a few changes. You see the weak points. If its a lot less money to buy one and repair the buying a good one Id do it.
One of the guys on RUclips but if those are site unseenIt was from CNC equipment. There was issues but they both worked out and they both are really good RUclipsrs
I haul purchased equipment from Ritchie Bros, and you'd be surprised how many construction companies actually send guys out to the auction sites to do pre auction inspections, so they have a good idea of what they are bidding on.
11:29 the brake is inside the transmission, that's why it stalls when you're in gear and hit it too hard. The advantage of this is, you can apply equal breaking action without having four individual brakes on each tire if you lock all 3 diifs. It's also much more reliable as you don't have exposed lines etc.
Love watching your videos, making me to do a similar down here in Australia. Don't like seeing old things such as vehicles and heavy equipment being rusted away even though they can still be used and people really don't care and hate throwing good useful things away. Keep up the great work videos!:)
Def need a reaction vid from the missus when she finds out he just spent a casual $10K (?) down at the auction. Matt might need a skidder to pull out of that one. 😁
Before you cut down the nice crane: is there maybe a way to mount it in the building with it sticking out the side/back? So you can crane stuff right off the back of something and into the shop area?
Hey Matt, are you hooking up your new shop with 120/208 3phase or 277/480? If you are getting a high voltage feed you could definitely make use of a transformer and dual panel setup from the cracker plant so you can run dual voltage 3 phase (480 for running big motors and lighting and 120/208/240 for regular receptacles and welding 2- and 3-leg setups with 208 or 240 volts)…just thought I’d throw that out there.
They started spamming those crappy Chinese skid steer attachments at the local farm consignment auction this spring. My dad, brother and I were laughing at the people paying a premium for them.
Great finds Matt, you done good Brother. That crane is going to be very handy and that air tank is perfect for the new shop. Well the Richie Brothers have been very handy indeed. Can't wait to see the next video Matt. Take care and cheers from Australia 🇦🇺 👍 😊
I love your auction videos. I also like seeing some clips about sale prices of items. Thanks very much for all the work you put into producing these videos.
Matt, ya'll should keep the crane length because ya'll can build the shop to fit the width and heaven only knows Ritchi might even have cheap I -beam supports for your beauteous shop to come. Ya'll will need serious rebar for the floor so hit don't crack.
Skidder - what and why are they used ? Here (Sweden) the mills usually uses a large fork truck with a big claw, while out in the forest there exists felling machine and pickup/takeout from the forest to truck-reachable pickup points.
Each machine in auction has dozens of guys trying to start then shut off . Some leave key on . Mechanic at Richie brothers jumps hundreds of batteries all day for a week
I got my (just like your blue one)- extended cab 2002 F350 7.3L, ZF 6spd manual, manual 4x4 w/ manual locking hubs for $7500 about 8 years ago w/ 170k miles; with no bed at all. I have 330k miles on it now, and a 9ft flatbed that I through on it right when I got it. I've towed a lot of loaded down goose neck trailers and almost always had a heavy tool trailer or welding trailer behind it. 330k miles and it still pulls strong. I wouldn't mind getting into one of those F550's, but this thing just won't die. lol
Matt you're great. At the time I was friends with the son of a construction company owner and played with all kinds of heavy equipment. Even a brickyard demolished (nearly died twice that weekend). When I see you busy, it starts to itch again to put such a heavy bulldozer in my garden as a hobby ... but they are just a bit too expensive for that I think for decoration
Had a boss that had some Ritchie Bros Auctions each year on his land. Some days you just wanted to duct tape the bosses hands down. He'd buy stuff to use on a project then sell it off after he was done with it. After the auctions I'd have to go up and get our stuff running again because people would do stuff to the equipment to get it cheaper. Like when the bosses kid stopped to pick me up because an old wd45 allis wouldn't start for the auction. One look and I said the coil wire is fake because I just changed the wires and the coil wire looks different. Someone pulled the coil wire boots off and put them on a old piece of hose that later turned out came from the wiper washers of an old truck that was for sale. Was a great way to keep sharp at problem solving after the sales.LOL The old glass fuse gets heated up and they pull the end cap and a little bending and put the cap back on so it don't look blown unless you check it with a test light. After a few times of that he hired a guy to keep an eye on the stuff and the problems stopped. Shame though because it was kinda fun seeing the creative ways people try and get a deal.
Shop I used to work at, had a Big Green fork truck similar to that one. We set a piece of forged 4140 steel on the mill once that weighed 20,000. It didn't weigh near that when I got done turning it into a crankshaft for a big press though.
Helps to hear your thinking process out aloud as you go. And for you to call out what problems you expect and encounter. Very illuminating. Other - technical talk such as "no juicey juice" is grateful addition to my own vocabulary. Been using "go juice: for decades myself.
Well Matt, thanks for another great video. I see many comments about leaving the crane at full length sticking out one end of the building , what they don’t get is that doing so would limit your use of the crane since you would be limited to use it only in the middle of the shop which could terribly limit your work space. That Military 10K forklift is a beast, it’s rated at 10K under the worst combat conditions, it can handle 12K in flat ground any time; I operated one in the Army for a few years and it’s awesome even in muddy terrain. Can’t wait to see the vids of you working on all this and piping that big tank into the shop, however I’d suggest you don’t put it inside the shop unless you have a hydrostatic test performed. You have no idea what kind of abuse it may have been exposed to and there could be hidden damage that could lead to a catastrophic failure… that’s a possible huge fragmentation grenade. An outside building for the compressor and tank is not only safer but makes for a quieter shop.
Hey Matt, I'm going through some rough emotional times. And I want to let you know that watching your videos really helps out. I know it sounds cliche, but it's true. Your content never fails to entertain and Impress me. Thanks Matt 👍
Wow, wow, wow!!! Lookin' forward to lots of fun and video watching you with the new stuff! The crane will be worth its weight! So glad you picked up a smaller and more lively form of transportation for around the property! Should save you time and fuel! Congrats, Matt!
If you buy the bridge crane. I recommend getting a certified bridge crane welder to do the modifications. You may remove something or put something on that may cause catastrophic failure. When you shorten a bridge crane you lift ton goes up.

Great video Matt,Love the Auctions. You picked up some nice stuff there. There going to make some great videos when you start repairing and installing. Can’t wait to see the crane install. I hope you can use the entire length of it.
Outstanding video!! My favorite was the puddle in the beginning. I live in western Pennsylvania and we have had less than 1/2 inch of rain in my area since June 1. So, a puddle is a rare sight. I forgot what one looked like. Thanks for the puddle.
Check with your state for crane engineering and regulations. Feds have their own requirements if your state doesn't. Tonnage is greater than 3 tons so you have a lot of regulations applying. Was there any documentation with it? That is almost as valuable as the crane. Now you need a lot of track and steel support. That costs more than the crane itself. Good luck with it! Love your videos!
Hey Matt. Sounds like an F 550 Cummins swap (or was that a DEEtroit strapped to the trailer) is in the works. Glad you got a side by side-those are super handy. Overhead cranes are a dream come true for lots of us. You won't regret that huge air tank. Nicely done sir! Can't wait to see the new shop. Thanks for posting.
If you wher to get a 2" or 4" magnet put a steel rod with a small flag on it Then just possession the flag in such a manner as when you move the vehicle. The flag will be at top center when the hole is where you want it. That would be the easiest way to do it by yourself
Oh man - I do this with valve hifi, buy things I don't need but if you don't get them when they're affordable you'll kick yourself for decades! I'm really excited to see you get some large plant in. Don't forget, not long ago you where watching LetsDig18 and DirtPerfect now these guys are your friends. As the Buddhistssay "The more friends you have, the more luck you have!"
When I first saw the water tank, it looked like a generator or welder, even though I noticed the fill port. Surprised me, but that’s ok. Regarding the gantry crane, I don’t think the crane truck you’ve got is gonna be able to lift that into place in the new shop.
I love the rotation of the intros, doesn't get boring. Your videos are top notch Mat, great work! When is the Ritchie Bros sponsorship coming through? 😂
You could have the crane sticking out of the front of the building like those old railway buildings had, usefull for offloading all your purchases :)
he can just install it the long way of the building , they might need to build seperate foundations/footers for the frame the crane will sit on , i mean its the weight of the crane and if its 7 ton rated abaut 14 tons max
awesome now you finally got a "transmission jack" that can lift the semi up and over onto its transmission

If you do cut the crane down, do it near the ends, not the middle. Less bending stresses there, so less danger of welds failing.

one of those electrical setups could fully power your ware house on the farm transforming the high line to usable power for lights welders etc...and you would pay less per kilowatt in the bargain..When you own the transformers etc...and will replace them if they bad every ....4 or 5 decades then you save $$$ and if you own the solar arrays you could take the darned thing off grid but again you assume the maintenance as needed which is why obsolescence has to be factored into the costs...I presume your warehouse will have an electrical room...kept dry and out of the weather ...from there you could feed all other buildings...and homes til you peaked the capacity ...High side power is much cheaper seen factories do this for years and they get their power for commercial rates
Dont cut the crane, let it hang out over a door then its easy to load unload from outside to inside
Cutting the crane means getting the new welds x-rayed etc.
Oh well.
1/4" plate steel over 1/4" plate steel
Gives you a 1/2" plate steel
You can buy one if its cheap enough and make it twice as strong
1/2 the works done. You can deffently upgrade one to fit your needs with just a few changes.
You see the weak points.
If its a lot less money to buy one and repair the buying a good one
Id do it.
Bunch of good finds, although it's crazy to see the prices folks are willing to drop for something sight unseen.
27:20 - this chain binder - put it in Cytric ACID for 2 days - it will be like NEW- So much power of rust remove
Some good purchases. Excited for the over head crane. Cannot believe the size of the air tank! Really getting excited about the shop. Much longer?
Down to earth Matt , dont change pal why we like you
Love watching your videos, making me to do a similar down here in Australia. Don't like seeing old things such as vehicles and heavy equipment being rusted away even though they can still be used and people really don't care and hate throwing good useful things away. Keep up the great work videos!:)
Nice to see another Aussie here
The trailer and Crane pickup video was awesome Matt 29:46 @Diesel Creek
Hi Matt. Can’t wait to see your new dream workshop begin construction , very exciting
Nice Tow Trailer not bad at all needs some love but that is common Maintenance Matt 26:40 @Diesel Creek
You definitely got the right wife. Maybe she's just looking forward to the giant auction she is going to have.
Mine says that every time I drag more shi,, I mean, stuff home.
"Going to be a big auction "
Def need a reaction vid from the missus when she finds out he just spent a casual $10K (?) down at the auction. Matt might need a skidder to pull out of that one. 😁
@@tvctaswegia497 pretty sure she barely even blinks at it anymore considering he did drop what.. over 30K on the tracked skid steer sight unseen?
😬🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣👌
Maybe he's single. I saw no wedding ring.
Was expecting you to pick up some of those high bay LED lights there.
Before you cut down the nice crane: is there maybe a way to mount it in the building with it sticking out the side/back? So you can crane stuff right off the back of something and into the shop area?
A very good idea
What's worse auction houses or lawyers....
Yes... Garbage. My 4n1 bucket broke cutting edge first day . Made of clay metal from china
pay high price once and get quality products instead of pay low price for chinesium products and end up with headaches down the road
@@lordjaashin yes or buy a used quality one. I buy Blue Diamond made in Tennessee .
@@MostlyInteresting the worst are the 👃 people
That skidder souds good seems likw everything works except the stall condition when using the brake Matt 😂 11:00 @Diesel Creek
Great finds Matt, you done good Brother. That crane is going to be very handy and that air tank is perfect for the new shop. Well the Richie Brothers have been very handy indeed. Can't wait to see the next video Matt. Take care and cheers from Australia 🇦🇺 👍 😊
That's just what all these used diesels need, guys firing them up cold and then revving them up yeah that's good for the machine
The Clark is a series that went from 20K lbs to 30K lbs with a wheel base change above 25K (24" load centre)
Sounds right! I would have said 30 max.
About what I reckoned, 10-15 ton lift capacity
That was my guess as well.
I wouldn't mind getting into one of those F550's, but this thing just won't die. lol
Matt: 'This is a satellite Richie Brothers yard, wish we had a bigger one'.
Eva: 'Oh no ya don't'. 😁😁😁😁🤣🤣🤣🤣😂😂😂😂
Mattt, consider including a pit for under carriage repair/service work. Beats laying on the ground. Mike
In my opinion your best bet for a good skidder if you want a small one get a John Deere 440 or a 540 if you want a big one get a 640 or 740
Had a boss that had some Ritchie Bros Auctions each year on his land.
Was a great way to keep sharp at problem solving after the sales.LOL
The old glass fuse gets heated up and they pull the end cap and a little bending and put the cap back on so it don't look blown unless you check it with a test light.
It’s always fun to go to the auction with you Matt! Thanks for taking us along.
Helps to hear your thinking process out aloud as you go. And for you to call out what problems you expect and encounter. Very illuminating.
Other - technical talk such as "no juicey juice" is grateful addition to my own vocabulary. Been using "go juice: for decades myself.
Hell yes love these Auction videos
Yes I’m planning on putting the tank and compressor in the shipping container and plumbing it over
Hey Matt, I'm going through some rough emotional times. And I want to let you know that watching your videos really helps out. I know it sounds cliche, but it's true. Your content never fails to entertain and Impress me. Thanks Matt 👍
Wow at the Very talented Board out of there mind Workers that is some impressive art work 19:00 to 19:36 😮 @Diesel Creek
Jeez the prices these old high-hour machines go for... You definitely need to be an expert like Matt to get a good deal. 😎
AWESOME AUCTION.....Thanks Matt....Shoe🇺🇸
DC, You should reach out to your electrician and see if any of the electrical gear at the auction would fit the bill for your new shop...
Wow, wow, wow!!! Lookin' forward to lots of fun and video watching you with the new stuff! The crane will be worth its weight! So glad you picked up a smaller and more lively form of transportation for around the property! Should save you time and fuel! Congrats, Matt!
When vehicle shopping I always take a code reader with me, so I can see why the CEL is on, or codes even if the CEL is not on.
If you buy the bridge crane. I recommend getting a certified bridge crane welder to do the modifications. You may remove something or put something on that may cause catastrophic failure.
When you shorten a bridge crane you lift ton goes up.
Smart man; "situation in the world'. That is great m8. So many fall for the trap of mentioning 1 or more details and in doing so, usually wrong on the matter and chasing out part of their clientele. I admire the way you address it, while staying completely neutral.
such a shame that viewers are so sensitive and easily offended babies nowadays that people have to walk around egg shells when talking to them. what have we become as a society smh
@@lordjaashin I cant really get into that without going into politics and i dont want to do that here.
In general i can say; yes, we are extremely polarized and sliding down fast. There are reasons for that which i wont get into ;]
It's great watching you at these actions. For me that's what you call entertainment . I could watch this all day. Thanks a lot.
Matt, going shopping on the auction yard with you is a treat and a cool event! 😁
Sounds more like an OHSA thing personal use it's probably fine.
He's in very rural PA, pretty sure his 30 acres does not fall in a City, so, no inspectors, no inspections.
Hey Matt... Pretty soon you're gonna be able to have your own "Richie Bros" auction right at your place.
That will no doubt be just before the deee-vorce
@@frankagent7472 She wanted him to buy that orange truck. i think they’ll be fine
Looked like a detroit to me also. must be a special project, as he never mentioned it. Maybe repower the green autocar?
@@bigassfordsd if he was gonna reposed the autocar, it should be a Detroit.
"The main pinchy pinchy" killed me lmao
If you wher to get a 2" or 4" magnet put a steel rod with a small flag on it
Then just possession the flag in such a manner as when you move the vehicle. The flag will be at top center when the hole is where you want it. That would be the easiest way to do it by yourself
I would love to see an episode of the Ritchie Brothers auctions with Mrs diesel Creek????
I forsee Miss Eva adopting the side by side Honda.
I think Mr. Diesel creek bought the pioneer for her as a gift. 🙂
@@Dirt_mountain-earthworks He'd better. After the backstory on the orange Autocar, where Miss Eva said "you need to buy that", she's a keeper.
She also already has the barn-find blue Jeep
I would think the traverse and crane section would lift off the Main longitudinal section to make install easier.
Love those auction videos!
13:00 Excavator prices are crazy....
Nice score at the auction Matt, looking forward to seeing the crane coming home!
Nice purchases. Thanks for bringing us along. UK.
I love the rotation of the intros, doesn't get boring. Your videos are top notch Mat, great work! When is the Ritchie Bros sponsorship coming through? 😂
I’d love that lol
you need to buy - repair - then sell and you have a video of the rebuild ! your on a winner !
