I think it's about 11hp. The kx85 has 20+hp (I may be wrong). The kx85 is a motocross and the klx140 is a trail bike. The klx is heavy and slow, has bad suspension and is geared low. The kx85 is light, quick, has good suspension, and geared for racing.

Change the rear sprocket smaller 6-7 teeth and the front bigger 1 tooth. Should be good for 12-13 mph. Did that to my crf100 48mph to 61mph. Of course I put in a stage two camshaft and that went down as the bottom was boosted. Now it pops wheelies. I put a 120 big bore too. And a couple of other things.
Ya you kinda short shifted I have the same bike an got up go 55 on a road half the size also check and see how tight your chain is bc that helps with wheeled and speed I can send you a video

Add a performance cam, bigger carb, and a hotcams cam and your bike will amaze you. I've built some crazy fast 100's(the motor in a crf100 and xr100 are the same thing and have been around a long time. They run forever too.
I beat a klx140 on my kids KX65 next to the pits with my 175lb ass on it(granted I was an A rider almost pro til an injury ruined my career). And just being curious, the 65 topped out at 56, can't remember the gearing I had on at the time, I switch it constantly for the track/conditions. Pretty said a bike with half the CC's is faster. THAT'S WHY WE RUN TWO-STROKES LIKE REAL MEN.
Riley Brandt try a 250 2 stroke. Less maintenance, more power, better handling, less rotating mass so more flickable, but ya have to mix the gas. I ride a 2013 YZ250 and won several races in A class against 450's last year, and all I did to it was Pro Circuit exhaust and v-force reeds, and I'm 34. 250f's make me more money than any other bike (small parts wear fast at high rpm). Being an ex racer and now an MX Tech/part time racer, a 250 2 stroke is gonna cost ya way less to own, especially when it breaks. But choose what ya like, just giving ya my 30yrs of racing and wrenching advice.

I remember being so surprised at the acceration of the bike. For a air cooled 140 the engine was great. Engine was a bit strong for trails.
