I purchased a 2023 for my son and had the same problems with it being lean from the factory. I went a little crazy and drilled out the welch plug and got to the D-shaped fuel screw. It was glued or something in also, so I very carefully drilled and easy-outed the fuel screw. I ordered a Shindy rebuild kit which came with a normal flat head fuel screw. The jetting is still lean so I need to get new jets, but I was at least able to get it adjusted to where it will start easily and idle. Thanks for the video, just wish I would have seen it about a month ago.
Great vid. Picked up mine yesterday, lean as hell and can't adjust A/F mixture. Mechanic at dealer even called kawasaki about it before I picked it up. I got it home and very carefully adjusted idle once it was all warmed up and got it to run without hanging revs while also idling without stalling but it's super lean and cold blooded. Will probably just end up swapping carb. I can tell it's going to be a fun bike though just riding around the yard.
I literally just finished installing this very kit...now mine for what ever reason I could not get the stock black pipe to fit back in between the carb and stock airbox..so bought a separate filter with a short 45 degree pipe. Now also has a brand new FMF slip on exhaust. With that the kit came with a 170 main jet and needle clip at two from the bottom. It really needed a smaller idle jet but I got it to work...ended up with a 145 main jet and two from the top on the needle. The bike now immediately starts cold...no choke, idles perfect, comes off throttle to perfect idle and will spin to max rpm's. With the stock carb I was lucky to get it started....on a brand new bike...absolute shit...so disappointed with kawasaki...but now runs better than new!!! This kit is well worth it if you willing to do a bit of jet tuning.
After 7 years my stock carb begin to have problem, now just run on choke, died without choke. Bad your kit is out of stock everywhere! Thx for your video!
I used one of the RMC cold start jet kits for my wifes Klx 140 and it took care of the known carb problems from the factory. Didnt ever have to mess with the D screw
I just did this carb kit update on both our 2023 klx140rf's and they run like completely different machines. This is a must do. I can't believe how terrible the stock carbs are. Great video & recommendation!
Funny how many people have issues with the stock carb. Ours has a stock carb with a tusk jet kit. After market exhaust and a 170cc big bore. It runs flawless.
Bought this bike for my son who was riding a 70cc Baja & a SSR 125 he’s been riding it for a couple years now 14 years old. I’m about 5”11 ish 215 definitely slower bike very soft suspension but can stiffen the damper you can feel it, very easy to go on harder trails.

Finally got the new carb in. Fired up first time HOWEVER the bike is revving like a madman. Throttle cable springs right back, choke is not on. No matter how I try and adjust the idle it wont stop revving. Any ideas? The one thing that did happen on install was the rubber "hose" from the air box to the carb came out. I reinstalled it back in the airbox but have not sealed it back up. Could that be the issue?

I bought the kit and put the new carb on. The fuel selector valve completely blocks the choke. You can’t choke the carb. Am I missing something? In fairness it did fire right up with no choke and it’s only 30 degrees. It starts WAY better than it ever did straight from the factory. About a month after I got my kLX I put the 12t front sprocket on. It accelerates like a beast and the throttle is super snappy with the higher Gearing ratio. My only gripe is I loss a little bit of my top end, but I'm about to fix that and order a 49t rear sprocket to put my gearing ratio down to 4.08 which will give me my top end back without loosing all the acceleration gained (I'm at 4.17 currently gear ratio right now, which was a pretty good jump from the stock 3.57 ratio.)
