I’m an experienced off-road rider, 5’6”, 142 lbs., finding that the KLX 300 is too heavy for me to pick up. (To folks other than the content creator, don’t respond with recommendations for how to lift a motorcycle. Falls don’t happen on level ground free of other motorcycle traffic; they do occur on off-camber landscapes that don’t facilitate the “backing up to the bike to lift” technique. I know the f*ing techniques.) So, I’m considering the KLX 140R L. I greatly appreciate your video.
Everything you said is a fact. I bought the Yamaha TTR 125. The 230 was just to big for me. On flat ground sure it was fine, but like you said off-camber on the trail you want the range of motion of your feet being able to touch. You're making the right call setting ego aside. Plus it's light enough I can maneuver and load on my own. I considered the 140L while also looking at the Yamaha. Can't go wrong with either bike. The Yamaha offered both kick start and electric start, and was a $1000 cheaper than the KLX at the dealership I was at. Enjoy the trails !
Last time I fell it was on a steep hill going down, bike crossed-up from skidding the back tire; anyway it ended up with tires facing uphill…BUT it was just a Grom ‘clone’ 150 and I was able to pick it up easily, and get this: the engine never died !
Yep, it's a good bike, but there's a few things I would have done different if I was the designer. I'm sure my changes would have added expenses though.
Yes, it pulls pretty good in 1st and 2nd gear. It gets me up the hills and I'm 190. Now, I wouldn't enter it into a hill climb competition where you are trying to climb a 45 degree slope of sand and rubble for a 1/4 mile, but it will handle typical hills.
@@gohobby9934 aw brah thank you very much for that info going on my first trip to mio MI bull gap this weekend so thanks ! I’m sure I’ll be fine but this puts my mind at ease lol
@@aliennetwork08 how did it handle bull gap? Have ridden that trail system a lot and thinking about getting the G/F model just not sure if I'll be happy with the power in the long run.
Well, it's unlikely you'll win because the 140 has about 12 horsepower and an 85 has like 22. An 85 is going to do much better around an mx track than a 140 due to it's weight, power, and suspension setup. However, if the track has only small jumps, and if you are a new rider, you can run the 140 and build experience. Eventually though, if racing is your thing, you will need a dedicated race bike like a kx85 or kx100 to be competitive.
I should probably put a video together on this topic. It's a bit hard to explain but there's a seat tab on the underside of the seat that has to slide into a fitting. If it misses the fitting, it's hard to get the seat bolts to line up. You have to push hard down on the middle of the seat while pushing it forward so that tab goes into the fitting. If you get it right the seat bolts line up pretty good. If this isn't the issue, you might have a bent subframe. I can also say that I have 7 bikes right now, and the seat bolts don't line up perfectly on any of them.
@@gohobby9934 Okay thanks for the tip, I'm new to bikes but love to learn about them, this video did help me learn a few more thing so thank you and keep up the work👍
I really really want this bike lol cause I have a KX85 and it’s just way too powerful for me and the 2 stroke is too snappy so yeah but I’ll have to save up some money lol !
Been riding this bike for a while now and it seems like he got a off brand version of mine in my opinion, cause my bike hasn't have any problems like this one. Only problem I had with it was figuring out that the spark plug needed replacement.

Got the 140R as my very first bike today and it is so nice I definitely suggest it

just got a kawasaki 140g 2019 and i absoulutley love it
This is gonna be my first bike in about 6 years im really excited waiting for taxes so in about a month to buy it
You'll like it. It's a good bike.
@@gohobby9934 omg thank you for replying i have a question what do you think about the ttr230
save your money and buy a 230

I just got one. Such a fun machine
Thank you , honest run through the bike . 🇦🇺
Most definitely wish I had a backup Kickstarter and you will definitely kill your battery if you leave the switch on I totally agree
I got the new Kawasaki 2024 KLX 230r. I almost got a 140 but im more of a intermediate rider than a beginner so the extra power is great for me lol
How is the fueling? Is it one of those need to re jet out the box or good?
Can you install a kickstarter kit on this bike?
Would this be a good first bike for a 13 year old?
Absolutely, assuming he/she gets the model suited to his or her size.
Thinking about putting the big bore on my 21’ 140RF. I need more power not sure about upgrades or anything. Any suggestions?
The big bore kit is popular but I've never tried it. Besides that, just consider silencer and gearing.
I am about 180 pounds will I be able to climb hills on KLX 140 R L ? It rides good just haven’t hit the trails yet . I’m about 5,7 as well
yes

bro i’m the exact opposite i have this bike but want to get something more powerful
i’ve got the 140l while i’m 4’9 my feet barley reach the floor but dang it it’s fun
Bro how old are you… if you are above 14 you have my condolences
Kick start is the real dealbreaker that makes me want to get another crf125 instead.
The 125 in my opinion is worse in every way compared to the klx 140, but it’s your money do what you want
Crf125f has kick start and e start
Super helpful video
Seems really odd that the aftermarket has not offered plastic.
Number one dislike about the 140. No street legal version.
Thx

lmao an off brand one?, go back to your shoe collection buddy
there isn’t a off brand klx140 that looks identical😂
👍
I have the same bike and it goes 59 mph
Yep, with the right sprockets, proper conditions, and a long straight away, you can probably ring it out to that speed.
You can also bump start these bikes.
Bump starting left the chat
Only thing I hate is I can’t find any plastic kits 😂
not intellaganta
I got mine up to 60mph it’s stock
Same
Thanks I think my next bike will be a140 L
It's a great bike. The 2019+ CRF125 big wheels would be another good option . They have fuel injection, which is nice.
