*This is why I appreciate your video-tutorials Mike, you create these videos for the normal / home photographer to easily understand photographic techniques in an informal manner :)*
Amazing instructor, Great presenter. You can't help but be enthused by watching Mikes video's. I can honestly say I have learnt more in the last 2 weeks having subscribed to your channel than I have over the last 6 months watching other *ahem* Experts. I struggled for months trying to figure out the Exposure triangle in a practical way and within a couple of days of binge watching your video's Mike it has sunk in and now I am seeing the results in my captures. You're a British gem. Thank you for sharing your knowledge and please keep the video's flowing :)
Thank you Wayne Morton
Delighted to help. Please help me make more by sharing the vids with more photographers as it helps me make more of them. Best wishes... MIKE
the kind of tip that is simple, but make a huge difference in a good photo. thank you Mike for share your knowledge.
I think youv"e got a new star...Miss Shawn looks very comfortable on film with you Mike..you make a good team. Great video as expected Mike. have a great day.
Utmost respect to your dedication to go into all obstacles to get the job done brilliantly.
Thanks PhotoZen. Photography has very little to do with cameras - and everything to do with the photographer being prepared to do whatever it takes. How else could Ansel Adams, Cartier Bresson and the other old-time masters have taken such amazing images with such basic cameras? MIKE
Where have you been all my life? I been watching the young photo bloggers and ran into your channel by random chance. I've learned more in this channel than in all the other more popular RUclipsrs. Keep posting!
thank you! - Melissa pp Mike :)
Thank you Tony. Please share the vids around with more photographers as that'll help keep em coming... MIKE :-)
Thanks for taking ur time to keep these tutorials coming... these videos always gets my photo interest to wake up... ty Mike.

Thanks Mike, I'm an aspiring photographer and have learned a LOT from watching your videos. I appreciate the simplicity of your teaching along with real time examples.
Thank you Josh - MIKE
I agree so much with the previous comment. Interesting though... how you can receive a million lovely comments but one bad one can concern us so much and make us itch to understand why. Hmmm.. probably the same goes for many artistic professions. You are simply terrific at what you do Mike and I thank you so much for marking me the photographer I am today. I implore you to never reply to another Troll (unless you're being chased up a mountain by one in Norway)!! As I've mentioned before... you're 7 building blocks course is a game changer! All Hail...."King Mike".
You rock Peter! - Melissa pp Mike
Thanks Peter, I didn't like all you lovely folks being called 'chimps'. And at end of day the person wasn't swearing and just being nasty as some can be, and I am genuinely interested in why they think I'm patronising...? It's not likely to change anything, I'm me ... MIKE :-)
+Mike Browne I hear you Mike and thanks for sticking up for us :)) But with regard to the comment saying that you are patronising or condescending....It's just bizarre because you are neither, far, far from it in fact. So you are not on you're own wondering why on earth they said that!
Every time a watch a clip of yours I seem to be mega inspired to get my gear out and try new things. I lot of my best pictures I think in some way are thanks to you. Cheers
Wow thank you pmstone123 - MIKE :-)

Hi Mike, thanx for sharing this video. It's excellent showed and explained as always.
The interesting stuff, meat in the middle. That explanation is just brilliant!! Great video Mike! Usually photography training videos don't cover composition techniques like these. Thank you.
thank you for the kind words - Melissa pp Mike
Great information Mike, if I wasn't in my 70's and being the carer for my wife I would defiantly take one of your course, I enjoy your RUclips channel.

Mike, I really love the video and like the sandwich technique. It is informative as well as entertaining. You made me laugh several times, particularly liked your comments about lurking and being in the bushes and so on. Please keep up the teaching & entertaining.
Thank you Laura! - Melissa pp Mike
Brill vid Mike really like these videos very informative and easy to follow well done i wait patiently for the next one :)
Great Video. This is very useful for landscape photography also. Also had a good laugh with the comedy phrases. I'm off to practice this technique for my lighthouse trip later this month.
Hello there, sir mike browne thankyou for teaching photography, I learn a lot.
Thanks Mike for a really informative video. I had always thought that a blurred foreground was distracting and had not considered that it could lead you towards the subject.
I really enjoy watching your videos and have learnt new things. Looking forward to more!
Kind regards, Gareth
Thank you Gareth J Barnard , please do share it too so we can make more! - Melissa PP Mike
I believe I recognize that coffee cup from the 7 Building Blocks of Photography. Love the video Mike. I often set my subject against a soft background but rarely think to also incorporate a soft object in the foreground. You've given me something to consider moving forward. I look forward to your next installment.
Haha well spotted Railfan - MIKE :-)
Mike thank you again for another great video ! A Sandwich, what a great analogy and so easy to remember now when out shooting. I always feel bad for your models though, they are always so cold even in your very instructive 7 Building Blocks course :) Looking forward to your next video.
Thanks Jim. It was soooo cold when we filmed portrait section of 7 Building Blocks course. I gave Bekki my jacket between shots and sent her back to car to warm up. As a professional model she was great to work with because she's used to it...
Great video Mike..
another great video tutorial.. thanks Mike!
thank you! mikesmithfoto - Melissa pp Mike
Excellent as usual!!
Really liked this video, Mike. Going to practice this style of shooting. Also going to e-mail this to some photography friends.

Just kidding, love your videos, I've learned loads. Thank you!
Haha - not so far sakkariini _ Thanks for your kind words... MIKE :-)
Thanks for your kind words... MIKE :-)
Being accosted deserves a better press ? ;) (But not always) :) :) :) :) :)
Thanks Mike. Terrifically entertaining and informative as always.

Happy to help John - MIKE :-)
Wow. Thanks for taking time to explain Mike.
My pleasure Jether - plenty more on my website www.photographycourses.biz/
Loved this video! Extremely helpful! Would you be able to do a video about how to take pictures of mountains from far away I keep on trying, but I'm not having much luck.
Thank you, I'll see what I can do Olivia.. I'm running workshops on Lanzarote and in Switzerland over next couple months where there are plenty to choose from... All done to how much time I have afterwards... MIKE
Sounds great! Thank you!
Good video. Thank you. What kind of tripod head do you use? I´m searching for the right one for me to set and hold the focus point exactly where I want it to be.
Thanks Aline. I suggest you go check a few out in a store and see which feels good to you. You need something strong and sturdy that won't wobble no matter what. And that you find easy to operate. Take your camera, pop it on a few and try them. Don't let the sales person talk you into anything or tell you one is better than another. In this vid I'm using a very old Manfrotto which is all those things but sadly discontinued now.... MIKE
Made me laugh out loud, when it was one thing after another came into the scene. Nice cover during the Post van too.
Thanks Jeff - MIKE :-)
Excellent tutorial as always, Mike! :-)
Another thing. Don't feed the trolls. Just block them silently.
Thanks Svein. MIKE :-)
Svein Arne Grønnevik Trolls!! Who in the world would troll someone like Mike. He gives away so much of his professional techniques and I have learned just a ton form the free stuff. I've bought several courses/ebooks from him and they are excellent. I can't believe anyone would be a troll to him.
Mike, I hope your other camera was still there when you got back to the cafe! lol.
Great useful video, again. learning lots. 👏
Ha ha - yes that was a continuity error. Though I did once realise I'd left a bag with D600 and X2 2.8 pro lenses on a quayside 3 hours after filming! Someone picked it up and told police. Just goes to show there ARE some good people about - MIKE
what length lens were u using?
Hi Mike . I'M from Poland. I'M beginner photographer. I supscribe your channel becouse you explain how to make photo very simple for me. great job.
sorry for my orthography ,😀
thank you for subscribing! - Melissa pp Mike :)
Another great video.
Love your videos! Is it ever warm and sunny where you live?!
Ha ha - sometimes Tina... MIKE :-)
1:51 I love when I'm looking for something to photograph, walk around the corner and find a Shawn.
Simple and effective .. great work .. keep it up
thank you Jan, it would also help us make if you share our videos! - Melissa pp Mike
Another great video Mike , oh and dont forget the camera you left on the table lol
Thanks Graham - I knew I'd left the damn thing somewhere.... MIKE ;-)
Mike Browne have you ever done sports photography, eg football as im looking for tips on that as well
Great video mike with clear explanation, i learn a lot about photography on your channel! cheers from indonesia :)
Cheers andreas. Please help me make more by sharing them around with other photographers... MIKE
My pleasure ;)
Do you have your camera set on the center focal point? Is that how you isolate the subject you want?
Mike uses single focal point, so he can control which part specifically in frame he wants to focus. Melissa pp Mike
Mike what tripod head do you use? It looks rock solid, a tank!!! I love it
Julio - Mike used his Manfroto tripod here - Melissa PP Mike
another top vid Mike......top man
Mike I have been watching your videos for 3 weeks now and I'm learning so much from you THANK YOU!!!
But I have a question, do you have to use a camera lens that has the infinity symbol on it because you said, not to go past the infinity point or can I do this with a 55mm-300mm Nikon lens that doesn't have the infinity symbol on it.
Thank you Michael. Please help me keep them coming by sharing them around with other photographers. Most modern consumer lenses don't have infinity marks on them now. If using autofocus it's not an issue, but focusing manually you just have to watch in case it goes beyond and therefore soft. Yes you can do this kind of shot with any lens... MIKE :-)
Sorry Mike... me again. Just curious, was that a 300mm lens on your camera when you were outside taking the pictures of Sian? Thanks
You're looking great Mike!
Thanks. Though I should confess this vid was shot 2 years ago.... Bit greyer and wrinklier now - MIKE :-/
Mike Browne - that is funny. Glad to know I'm not the only one that has archives of unedited / published footage.
Love the tip at the end. LOL
What a lovely environment! What is the name of the place you took this photos at? Again, very instructive video, Mike!
It''s my home town, Lymington in UK... MIKE :-)
Great tutorial!
Great video! Thanks. Just curious what focal length your were using?
Around 70mm for the coffee, 180 for outside cafe, 200 on quay and about 210 in the park Derek? - MIKE
Thank you for sharing...
What lense size did you use for capichino? I know the f stop you used.
"She dumped him.." - I was like: WHAAAAAT?? Are you serious?? I'm guessing she's okay... she seemed to be happy. I hope you are too, Mike!! :) - A big shout of THANKS from Hungary! Andy
Egeshegedre! - Melissa pp Mike
Great video! Brilliant!
Thank you Jesse Parbhu - Please continue helping me make more like it by sharing them with other photographers on forums, Facebook, ClickASnap, Flickr etc. - MIKE
Is a 100mm macro lens good for portraits too?
Yes can be MrStripeyDog - MIKE
Briliant !
excellent
great video! Can u please make a video about Creative portraits using prism or other elements? :)
Thanks for photographing real people Mike. Shawn is beautiful.
I'll tell her. She'll be delighted... MIKE
(PS: It's Sian, pronounced "Sharn")
i assume it was a cloudy gray day in the marina, what ISO and shutter speed should i use in those weather conditions? i assume that a small wind should be considered and also very large differences in light between sky and land.
perhaps this can help Love, - melissa pp Mike ruclips.net/video/qHiszv3KNr4/видео.html
