  • In early Mormonism, an unknown understanding of who God was prevailed, little known about today. Jehovah was God the Father and Adam was God the Father, and a head God took charge and was the Grandfather of everyone! I discuss the details in this LIVE show.

In Catholicism the Trinity is a core doctrine, not just for protestants.

Well if Joe Smith can rewrite and add to the Bible, why not later “prophets?”

That's their rational all right. Although even anciently they rewrote scripture, or just made other books of it outside the canon.

You said McConkie's view is "what they believe to this day" except that they've recently started worshiping Jesus, which Bruce R. would not have approved of at all!

This is a fascinating study of the chronology of the evolution of Mormon thought about God. Can you list the original sources of all the quotes? Journal of Discourses, Joseph Smith Papers, volume and page, etc. if possible?

Well well well the orthodox Christian organizations, (Catholic, Anglican, eastern orthodox), already venerate St.Mary. No need for renewed version.

The title of the video itself is wrong on Mormon Doctrine. I'll watch to see if it is as wrong as it appears, but Jesus Christ is not God the Father in Mormon Doctrine.
Jesus Christ built the earth by God the Father's direction. Jehovah, of the Old Testament was Christ before his earthly ministry when he was still a just a spirit. He was confirming this when he said, "Before Abraham was I Am." That is shown to be our doctrine in the Book of Ether in the Book of Mormon, when the brother of Jared sees Christ as a spirit when Christ touched the clear stones to make them shine. Many of the Native Americans of North America worshipped what they called the Great Spirit. That would be interpretations of Christ in his spirit form before his earthly life and ministry. Viewing Christ as God the Father slips into a Trinitarian view which we do not hold.

If God himself was a person, he would have had no need to engender an actual human son to show the world concretely that we are indeed loved and that in defeating death he has made the entire creation all new.

Kerry, I was baptized into the Church on January 1, 1999, under the impression that Jehovah was the Father, because all I had done was taken the missionary lessons, and read Church History materials. I eventually came to believe in the Adam-God doctrine (though, quietly), and finally, when I realized that the Jehovah-Jesus Doctrine was taught, that was the catalyst that began my eventual exit from the Church. I considered the Jehovah-Jesus Doctrine to be "Satanic" (per the Book of Moses) and still do, although I no longer believe in a literal Satan. I was put into disciplinary council at the ward level because of my questioning the Jehovah-Jesus teaching, and the signed statement, "The Living Christ", signed January 1, 2000, one year to the day after my Baptism, once it came to my attention, broke my heart, and confirmed me eventually in the belief that the modern leaders were in apostasy.

How can you not believe Jesus was jehovah? Jesus used the phrase I am who I am which what what jehovah used in the burning bush or whatever.
Although if you do read the Old Testament and see the massive holocaust that took place in Canaan the god if the Old Testament was brutal and blood thirsty and the god if the New Testament was forgiving etc. the god of the Old Testament killed judahs two sons and killed the dude steadying the arc. The god of the Old Testament could have just killed everyone he wanted without having the israelists do it,

@@koltoncrane3099 Watch Kerry's video from today and you'll see why. It's completely not Biblical in any way, what you're saying is trying to compare the phrase "ego eimi" in Greek to. "ehyeh asher ehyeh" in Hebrew, which is not the same phrase, and wouldn't even translate the same way.. That's just a piece of Protestant Trinitarian propaganda to try to link those together to bolster the Trinity. Talmage adopted it in order to push his Theology and erase the original LDS theologies.

@@koltoncrane3099 Sorry for responding twice, I didn't see the "show more" of your comment soon enough. I think the God of the Hebrew Bible is a lot more loving than the God of the New Testament. It's only the propaganda of Paul that tries to make him out to be so harsh. Although, the Deuteronomistic History in particular has the Israelites attributing their legendary conquests to Jehovah, but historians are pretty unified in the point that those conquests never actually occurred. The D-H documents were likely introduced during Josiah's reforms in order to bolster national pride and cause the Jews (including Israelite refugees) to believe that they were once a mighty conquering nation more powerful than the nations that had been recently conquering or threatening to conquer them. Hope that helps.
