Was a pleasure racing against you guys! Taking second to a reigning national champion hurts a little less than it would otherwise.
Super strong race Kyle. If you had Jeff (or anyone since I didn't see you had a lead out) doing your lead out, you could have made that a photo finish.
@@shepshape2585 thanks! Yeah it was just me, no teammates for Nationals. But Sam is a monster and gapped me when I hesitated for a second thinking maybe it was gonna be Jeff… my mistake! They are a great group of guys and I look forward to the next edition. :)
Class act all! 🚲 🌟 🚲 🙏 🚲 🌟 🚲
All class Kyle, get him next year!
National Championships (Masters): Who's the fastest dad in the country?
Ouch... "homie double dipped the corner."
That was me. I'm... "homie." 😫
My bad, guys. Glad you were safe.
I'll find a cornering clinic. 🙃
you're good homie, happens to everyone
All good man, nobody is perfect out there :)
Some mountain biking will help. On the MTB, you can’t do that; gotta pick a line and go with it.
@@keirfarnum6811 - we ride road so we’re faster on the MTB’s.
Start mountain biking :)
"Chris has been on the front the last 60 minutes" . LOL
7:15am pst and my heart rate feels like I just finished a race. Great video. Congrats to Sam and the team
I think the Thirsty Bear rider helped you you guys take the race. He basically caused the split, and with the one two punch from you both they were no chance to get ahead.
Yep….he pretty much led them out.
Giancarlo Bianchi Late crashes are the worst.
“Know your competition “, invaluable info.
Soo many great videos! Thanks Jeff!
Finally got a 4iiii. It changes everything. These guys are twice as strong as your fit club rider.
Teamwork makes the dream work!! Congrats!!
Tolley approves of your finishing speed. Great stuff guys, well done. Daylight 4th.
You should start bringing a standing camera to races that don’t have front on shots, would have loved to see y’all explode it out of the final corner there 👍
Do you obey traffic laws in town? Does your family? Do you have time to chat?
Yeah work even harder and longer on these videos😂
@@martinkent333 Why do you ask these questions?
Dave Koesel at the end haha. Great video and great job, guys!
4:40 Hey it's me!
I'll have my video from this race later this month hopefully! Was a blast racing with you guys, but this video DOES NOT show how hot it was :( Also, orange rider definitely gave me some fits while behind him...
Will look forward to it!
I saw the bottles being handed up... I bet it was plenty toasty (but dry at least).
I love watching you guys race always a good one
That was sick! Super happy for you guys!
💥 I Am a USAT National Masters / GrandMasters Champion 2004,2006,2010… I Love Watching This 41mph Finish Wow💥
exciting video, amazing teamwork/strategy! Always enjoy your vids, although I'm a casual cyclist!
Love the content. Great fitness from the team-thanks for the inspiration and ambition you all demonstrate on the road.
That was awesome. Loved watching that
Thanks guys, best and most informative cycling channel :D
Great tactics. Was Thirsty Bear from the Bay also? Was wondering if there was a regional alliance.
Yes, I see thirsty bear in all his Alviso videos so I am guessing he must be from the same place as Jeff :)
What Ashwin said but they're usually against each other. Not sure if there was any friendly bantz involved but it worked regardless.
I love how this was so well done and the way you guys had plans in place AND did research on your opponents aswell as the course.
I cannot even imagine 41mph into the wind. Sick
Hey, you've been uploading a lot of videos lately. Great week 👍🏼
Nice fellas and the right strategies with your man driving the race.
Racing the Driveway spoils me in a way with its smooth flowy race car track, not that it’s easy to get results, but a different style of crit racing.
This course has bumps, different surfaces and that stupid fence section, oh and the wooden plank man hole covers in the left had me weirded out.
Racing Alviso looks like a better training race for this nats course.
I love this one! Congrats to sam for bringing home the bacon and congrats to you too, jeff, for being an awesome teammate
I rarely get to see Jeff from someone else's perspective in these and man, Jeff's AND Sam's guns are looked cut af!
You sure get around! Entertaining post as always, and congratulations.
I am saving this for our race tactic next season. although i’m only in Cat5, we have a rag tag team 😁
Teamwork vids are the best!
Jeff great video brake down. I absolutely love your videos and the strategy and experience that you share with us all. Thank you.
Any Chance you are racing in Tucson in March 4-5th, I'd love to root you on if so.
Awesome teamwork
Great video. Really enjoyed hearing the tactics on this one! Congrats on the back to back Sam!
Well done guys
Easily the best video you've ever put out Jeff! congrats to you and the team for an absolutely amazing performance. That final corner left no question on who were the superior bike racers that day. wow. Nicely done!
This is amazing content. Ty
I love the way you executed the finish and personally I think You(Jeff) could have got second place but overall well done to the team on Taking Gold and Bronze home and a huge CONGRATULATIONS to Chris for the wins and playing MVP
So good! Congrats!
What a great race! I need to find me a few racers :/
That rider that jumped in the last 1000 gave you a hell of a lead out…an accidental gift.
Makes me not feel so bad when Chris or Sam drop me on the Tuesday night ride :-)
I don't understand the comment about how a headwind helps you in the sprint. Headwinds means drafting becomes more important, more of a factor, which is contrary to the notion that strength will matter more. When drafting is more important, the smart (but weaker) riders can hang with you, and still have a chance. Position and tactics become more important. You say (7:05): "Jeff and I have more a powerful type of sprint..." but it would seem to me that if power is your advantage over other riders, then your odds would improve with a tailwind in the sprint. Tailwinds are like sprinting on an uphill - drafting matters less, speeds/power demand will be higher, weaker (though smart) riders will be dropped, and power alone will prevail. However, all that being said, in this finish apparently nobody was drafting the winner in the last 200m, so maybe I don't know what I'm talking about!
ooo ill be there for the balloon fiesta in a few weeks
12:14 Those legs just screams POWER 😂 with 1,245 watts 😮
Wow! I didn't know Albuquerque was 5,000 ft. above sea level
Congrats on the championship!
Loving it, keep those videos coming sir!
Nice work.. on the REPEAT!!
Props for giving away you strategies
I struggle to go that fast downhill
Hells yeah.... congrats to you guys.
Hell yeah! Congrats y'all!
incredible!
Nice! If you switched the roles, Jeff obviously woulda won :)
Awesome video as allways
exhilarating even watching this from a screen
Awesome race + congratulations! Curious (might be stupid) question: Do most racers have their bike wheels balanced? Or is this not worth it?
It's not balanced, the valve on the wheels make it imbalanced
Wheel balance is not a factor, even at full-tilt field sprint speeds. I'm running way-longer-than-necessary 80 mm valve stems on the lightest carbon wheels I've ever had, and I do notice a slight vibration on descents getting close to 50 mph, but even then it's not really an issue.
@@gerardoparedes4871 rims are usually a little bit heavier opposite the hole for the valve - this more or less balances the wheel. Try that next time you have the bare wheel in the truing stand, without a tire on there - a good wheel will rotate so the valve hole ends up on top. Other than that... no, cyclists/bike mechanics do nothing to balance a wheel. There are no provisions for wheel balancing.
BadASS!
CHRIS IS CO COOL
Tyler Pearce - taking notes? -U10
Lol. “I’m not a gravel rider”. Yeah, but you’re one of the best mountain bike downhillers in the country.
wow, these corners at such speeds. Crazy.
Congrats Sam! Great video and commentary as always. You could do a hell of lot worse than having Jeff as your lead out.
Dam it makes my day to see you guys winning why the fuck am I this happy ahaha
Great win.
Is Chris any relation to Todd? He's someone else who is known to ride fast.
Ever race with hills?
Big boys
Hello! What go pro do you use? Can you tell me the resolution?
Nice teamwork
I wonder where they got all those Barriers
beast mode. 40mph into headwinds. super impressive
Great video and congrats on the team win. So 52/36 chain rings. Which cog in the back are you guys usually in during the final sprint?
I feel if you're racing crits, you're better off with a 1x front like I have on my TT bike (53T). I 've never seen anyone using the small ring so why drag it along?
@@rolandfrerichs5625 Front derailleur = ultimate chain keeper, the tauter chain of a clutch RD means more driveline friction, and some of us take our crit bikes up into the hills but like smaller steps between gears. You say toMAYto, I say toMAHto...
GGS!!!
66kph to a headwind... wow
Wow i would have ate that light pole
It smells great! lol
You had the names of the riders, but how do you identify who that is if you don't know them? I know you can use the kit, but what if there are more than one? Also, what cameras are you using to shoot this video?
Is it me or is that track surface really quite wretched?
New bike???
what did Sam mean when he said he has a 50 tooth chainring?
SRAMs largest chainring is a 50 tooth, they have a 10 tooth cog in the rear
@@JakaManden exactly :)
that he has a 50 tooth chainring
@@JakaManden OH its sram that makes more sense I was thinking he was saying he had a compact chainring
Just perfect
Idea: Put the podium names up....
can someone explain me. Why adults here race like 30-40km. When in Belgium 14-15-16 years old race like 60-75 km.
Only criteriums are short here - American crits are a special race, very much like cyclocross on the road. Adult road races in the higher categories are usually 120-180km, just like the rest of the world.
The smoke was bad you cant see the mountains.
Sprinting with 50t chainring??
Sram axs... That's 50-10. Which is equal to 55-11. So just good enough for sprinting ;)
Hey Jeff, what's your issue man?
who can tell me how to rander the png image in the video ?garmin virbedit is difficult tu adjust the time.
After the race they drank grape juice and played pinochle
Having a light post within the barriers is really stupid let alone 5 feet off the racing line. I'm surprised the organizers let that happen
how old is masters?
35+
Jeff why aren't you sprinting why are you always leading out
🔥🔥🔥
I regret that I have but one like to give.
Where is this in Albuquerque?
Bike racing is a simple game. A few dozen men ride in a circuit for 45 minutes and at the end, Jeff's team always wins.
In all seriousness, grats guys. Great tactics!
Samcam-scam
The real champion is the lycra that held together while Sam was flexing them thighs.
What's up with these ridiculous five step "podiums"?
im new to american bike racing, can someone explain what this master nationals means?
masters = old people
nationals = fastest in the US
Pro Nationals=UCI recognized,
Nationals=saturday group ride recognized,
Masters Nationals = milf recognized
