Bayonet 88 hey there, thank you very much. We try to put as much effort as possible into each episode. Thanks for the kind words, we appreciate you watching!
Jack Midd awesome! I would love to see it. In the description there are links to all of our social media pages, you should tag me with a photo of it on one of them.
New huge fan an most inspired by you're video's I started to build a small gonk droid an began to start wars out my tattoo shop thank you an please keep up the awesome work Brian an May The Force Be With You Always
The Smugglers Room well actually for my latest video going up in a few days, one of things I’ve done is built a miniature ‘war hammer’ steampunk house! All about relaxing and doing the things you love!!! Will def being doing more and I think Sci-fi will be next!
Ooooooh, this is most *certainly* the channel I've been looking for! 2:00 in and I've already added a salvage part to my build list that I never considered! Instant subscribe! So the project I'm working on is ambitious for an amatuer hack like myself, but I'm nothing if not meticulous...and patient! The "prop"? Create a Star Wars starship/Starkiller Base computer console corner unit and wall display to house my pc and Star Wars collectibles almost entirely from found, salvaged, repurposed materials. Looking forward to diving into your content! Thanks for sharing it with us! May the Force be with you!!!
Scott Kraft thank you! I’m in Colorado so I don’t have much issue with humidity causing any problems. I’ve also noticed that the lacquer almost cures like a hard plastic cover many ways.
1:31 If you don't want to chisel then apply painters tape to the locations you'll be sanding prior to applying any paints. After the paint you've applied has dried just remove the tape and you've got yourself places to glue without any cleanup.
Hi There. First of all thank you very much! I added some links in the description of this video where you can find products that I purchased on Amazon for the build, so give that a look. As far as the odd pieces you see, those are a bit tougher to explain. Many of the more interesting elements are actually from Vintage Cameras, old electronics, projector parts, and spare aluminum parts. If you search ebay for "vintage camera Lot" or "electronic lot" and even "Aluminum Lot" you will often find that people are selling boxes of random stuff. I find some decent pricing from time to time and use those items to build a library of parts to work with. I work in the AV industry, and I collect up old DVD players, projectors, etc and then take them apart. Inside other than circuit boards you will find odd looking parts that I remove and then use later. This is not unlike the films where they took apart engines and other things for their greeblies. The beauty behind this is you find items to use that are largely unrecognizable. That really sells the look. I will be putting out a video this week on "Greeblies" showing how I find them, and what I look for, so come back Saturday and check that out. Please let me know if that answers your question, I love this stuff, so I am happy to help!
One thing with Star Wars control panels is the lack of labelling. Nothing has labels! Which is great for a sci-fi movie. In my case I am building a jet cockpit for a Gulfstream 700 replica and need labels for everything! What would you suggest I use for the labels to give the most professional look. I know in reality they are silk screening on the labels from what I understand but that is a fairly complex and extensive process for a single panel. It makes sense when you are producing hundreds of jets. cheapest case transparent label maker. Unfortunately, they no longer make letra-set which would be ideal but a very difficult product to use as far as application and alignment since it is a letter at a time technology. Doing individual silkscreen for each label would be incredibly time consuming for setup for a one time use solution. making the screen would consume 3/4 of the time. A handheld inject printer would be an interesting idea if one is made for surface applications. A handheld laser printer that actually uses a lasert to engrave the label onto the surface would be a better idea.
Great build! I'm happy Bill from Punished Props gave you a shout out recently!! Just an FYI the link to your facebook page took me to a band's FB page....I did find yours after changing some letters around lol :)
Hi Jon! We are so thankful for Bill and his team for the shout out. So many wonderful people like yourself have come by and joined our community. Thank you for coming by for a look and welcome! Also, thank you for letting me know about the FB link, I’ll get that fixed.
Hey there, thank you much! Glad you liked it. I use a couple different sizes. 1/4” = 6.35mm and also the 1/16” = 15.875 mm. You might double check my conversion, but I think that’s correct. Have a great one!
Bryan my good man, how about a snippet of dimension information for this awesomeness? Just in case I may "hypothetically" want to cut this with a CNC. :) Thanks!
Hi Tracy, I was just going to share the file i created for this with you and I no longer have it in my X-Carve Files, I am not sure why. But I will do my best to re-create it and share the files with you soon.
No Worries my good man. It doesn't have to be exactly like yours. The important thing about all this is that you have succeeded in inspiring me to make one! P.S. I now blame you for my addiction to look at everything I see as a Greeblie. :)
indeed. it really is a crap shoot most of the time. Some weeks are much better than others for items listed. I use search terms like; Machined Aluminum Parts Lot, Vintage Projector Parts, Electronics Parts Lot, camera parts lot. It seems that the "Parts Lot" is the key. The machined aluminum parts are the tough ones to find.
Need to make the panels inter active. That one could easily have been made into a stereo with music or just sound effects. Use a good motherboard with flash drives and have it voice controlled, and have it control lights and other things in the room. Or just use phone so you can call someone from your panel.
Patricia Washington LOL, awesome. If you really do want one I’m going to have both pre-made and custom orders available on our website towards the end of February when we relaunch a big update to the site. So keep an eye out for that, I’ll make sure to have a video on those updates when they are ready.
Hi Zach, thanks for checking out the video. Its not a specific Star Wars prop, but more "themed." We are just building geeked out stuff using Star Wars styles to hopefully make it look like it at least belongs in the Star Wars Universe.
Hi there, thank you very much! We have been planning a video on the various ways to seal MDF and the results. I promise we'll get that one moved up the list and out soon. Thanks for watching!!!
Fun video! This is the day geekiness got cool (mark it down on your calendar).

There is a lot of work put into these videos and this channel deserves a lot more recognition.

Thank you so much!!! I appreciate you checking it out, and welcome to the channel!!!
Love it!
Awesome as always. I used to build so many different things when I was younger. Need to get back into it👌🏼
Thank You Andy, really glad you liked it. Yes you do need to get back into it!!! Do it!!!

Your project sounds OUTSTANDING! Thanks so much for joining us! Welcome to it, and thanks again!
Great video and an epic build. Really gave me some good inspiration for a small Star Wars styled light switch cover.
That's awesome! Would love to see that!
Very nice work! Are you worried about humidity causing the MDF to swell at all?
Scott Kraft thank you! I’m in Colorado so I don’t have much issue with humidity causing any problems. I’ve also noticed that the lacquer almost cures like a hard plastic cover many ways.
Too fun!
Susan Metzger much appreciated! Thanks for stopping by and having a look!

That's a great idea, thank you! Now I just need to plan things out a bit more so I can do that, LOL ;)
love your work buddy! watching from Australia and getting inspired.
Whats the name of the dark grey panel colour?
Great stuff, love your work. Is there any place where someone can find listings of parts to use like the hard drive motor?

Awesomeness as usual and a good thing you didn’t have your blaster with you to shoot down that critter, you’d have caused some serious damage!!!!!!!!!

Definitely great ideas! We have several others that we need to make, and they will certainly be interactive.

Im still wanting to drive my inner geek and make a build of my own.
Do it Ron, give it a try!
I need you to design sets for my movie
Single Space Films would love to!
Fix hyperdrive?sounds funny)))))
I just noticed the facehugger plush toy. My space pod is Xenomorph.. so I have wishbones.
That little plush is hilarious, and of course we have to show our love for the Alien/Aliens Universe ;)
I am going to be rebuilding my PC and now I think I might do a Star Wars wall panel pc.
