Big red I know how you feel because our baby brother who was the youngest of the boys and the youngest out of seven of us was the first of the siblings to pass away right about this time of the year 2 years ago .
And it was very sad ... he had already been going through an extremely hard time for a couple years ... and then my sister called me saying he wasn't answering the phone or returning phone calls for 6 days now and we both knew it didn't feel right .
I was 1500 Mi away and not well and my sister was in the hospital ... by the time my family got there , the coroner later thought my brother had already been dead for 2 whole weeks .
Makes me sad that he passed away alone and was there on the basement floor all that time .
May our baby brothers rest in peace .

She owes nobody for a song she composed, wrote, sang and performed. Congrats Tracy Chapman. This song has been an anthem through 20 years of struggle..

I remember the first time I heard Chapman sing this on the radio. Some songs grow on you but I loved "Fast Car" immediately.

I absolutely love this so much. You can see that her voice is trembling, and she’s shaking with fear and also trying to believe it in herself as she sings those words because she knows she deserves to be there. It’s fighting with self doubt, and yet knowing that you’re meant for more. It’s beautiful and she deserves all this success that she has what a wonderful Woman. I can’t imagine the strength that it took for her to get up there and do that when Stevie didn’t go on, I can’t even imagine.❤

The song has made history. It's the first song written by a black person ever to make it to #1 on the country charts

Her success is owed to her music and lyrical genius! Very rarely in a generation do we get artists who put their whole heart and soul into their work, and don't rely on the flashy attention-grabbing persona / music.
Chapman's work has HEART. It has PAIN. It has SOUL. I didnt grow up with her, but i recently listened to her first self-named album, and i was DEVISTATED by how fabulous every song is, how deliberate every lyric is, how genuine every word and note feels.
