Hi Gloria! I'm interested into words like 行. Why? Because it is pronounce very differently depending on what you mean. Like in 行山 and 銀行. I think I have seen other characters like this one, but as I am now on the self learning side it's hard for me to remember the confusion when it is heard. Maybe it's just me and I mixed up different pronunciation with traditional and simplified characters. I know the concept is very different it's just so much information at the same time to get apart. 😅
Some Chinese characters have two -3 pronunciation, Basically, they have their own fixed phrases. You won't go wrong. Like 行haang means walk so 行街;行路;行山 are haang while 行hong means a building something like that. so 律师行/银行/支行 all pronounce hong.
@@DopeCantonese Thank you! I didn't make the connection with "building". Now that I see other example it will be easier to remember. I do understand like 80-85% of Cantonese but I just can't talk because of lack of practice nor can I read for the same reason. But I have a extension for my browser that put in jyutping Chinese character when I hover my mouse over them. And while I try to speak with the help of jyutping sometimes I would just say "Ooh yeah! I should have known!" :)
Very useful video thanks Gloria!
