Whooaah, just when you think that the graphics cannot be any better, but then i turned out to be sooo wrong ,here the colors & details are looking so much more modern and warmer. Heck even the original graphics of the game were standing out to 1st gen nes games wich was a huge step forward.
@@bobbydazzler329 I thought the Master System had a great FM synth chip? I've never really spent much time with one but I've always heard that the sound was very superior to the NES.
Looks amazing. I wonder if any fans would complain that cleaning it up takes away from the horror ambience? Like, I'm not sure how I'd feel about them cleaning up Simon's Quest.
ambiance can look different to different people. I wouldn't mind if someone wanted to redesign or recolor Simon's Quest. I'm sure there's already rom hacks out there that "fixes" the game.
There's some slight screen tearing here & there, but overall, this looks really good!!!!!!! Why couldn't Konami have used the same idea & come up with a competent remake of CV III. Konami's remake of CV III is a slap in the face to the original developers. Using this idea of overlaying the original sprites keeps the original feel of the game & compliments what the developers were going for. You can tell that great care & thought was put into this to specifically compliment the original & not take away from it.

I was actually going to showcase this graphics hack(taken from a mobile port)for the halloween of 2017 but sadly i couldn't do it. anyways, nice video.
This is ran through a custom Emulator that overlays custom images over the sprites, so no it won't run on a real NES. I believe the same Custom emulator can handle a Rom modification that allows a modder to replace the music with any music of choice (Correct me if I'm wrong about the custom music)
Fantastic work!!!! Is there any plans by Kya to do the other games in the series from the NES liberry or maybe other NES games? It maybe redundant but I thought Ninja Gaiden Trilogy for SNES didn;t have the same personality because of the music and SFX. If I was a producer I would hire this dev to reskin my game, reskin it like a mofo.
this version would be possible for NES! Turns out they did not use all the power of the NES. Obs: See the game Batman Return of the Joker or even the game dragons lair, these producers used a method that they discovered a few years later of the creation of the NES. Failed to perfect more in this game!
The author of the mod is Kya, who threw in various graphics from the mobile version, Vampire Killer, Bloodlines and other self-edits into a "skin.png" and this file is loaded through a special version of the emulator named NEStopiaUE. The emulator, USA version of the game and png file is needed for these graphics enhancement to happen in the first place.
I'm curious how this is done, since it looks like it breaks NES limitations. There are sprites with more then 3 (4 with transparent) colors, overall more colors on screen then generally allowed, and colors not in the NES palette, and no slowdown.
It's done with a specific emulator. Also, there is a graphics pack. There is a thing that tells the specific Mesen emulator to re-load each original tile with one of the new graphics over each old tile.
Could someone make a rom hack of this where it has all the enhanced backgrounds but the sprites are returned to there original CastleVania 1 sprites? Including Simon?
lol should had use holy water on Dracula 2nd form.a whole lot easier XD .When using holy water on Dracula 2nd form go through him quick before holy water wears off.it can also hurt dracula 2nd form as well.
It was in the description the whole time, but I made a mirror link as well. It's an emulator called "Mesen" (NEStopiaCV) and it loads graphics from a "skin.png" image which is how you're able to get these type of sprites. All you need is the default Castlevania ROM and you're all set.
Unfortunately, it requires a specific emulator that can read a PNG image file where all the graphics data is located, and to do that on a NES, it would require a lot of reverse-engineering or editing of the assembly code, to give it the ability to read the graphics data from another source. Another way is to painstakingly edit and ROM hack all the graphics data with a tile sprite editor, like for example Tile Molester or YY-CHR, since graphics data in NES games are split in tiles of 8x8 size that are then put together to form a full sprite later during gameplay. The emulator is a modified version of NEStopia, which I linked in the description: drive.google.com/file/d/10Bhji49sudAZATqi_AdQsYK5btVzzyAo/view

looks almost good enough to be a super NES game
yeah, totally. not quite, but almost. like 14 bit but not quite 16 bit.

yep a background swap

@Just Another Account you are tho
This is a great remake of Castlevania 😊😊
@Gameplay and Talk I know October is long gone, but with your soft spot for CV, I thought you'd appreciate this vid.
All three NES games need this.
I really like it. Konami should’ve done this for the Anniversary pack.
back then the only problem with this game is movement control, it so hard to match the jump and enemy patern back then
now it smooth af
Konami should release AND remake C2 and C3 this way on 3ds. Pffffff
I wish they added better music that sounded like the instruments in the famicom castlevania 3
