  • Natural oils can spontaneously combust. This is my recent experience with boiled linseed oil. If I had not already known what could of happen when using these oils then my shop would be gone today. Hope this helps someone.

    Excellent tips, Andy! Thanks a bunch! 😃
    Another one like that is, if you do rc stuff, DO NOT charge lipo batteries inside. I know at least 2 people who lost everything in a fire started by a lipo being charged inside.
    You just can't put it off... Because the batteries generate oxygen as well, as they burn. (And it's spectacular to see... From far away!)
    Anyway, stay safe there with your family! 🖖😊

    Coincidentally, a house in Bella Ranch burned to the ground last week, rumored to have started in the garage... It probably wasn't this but you've shown the dangers. If you spill again similar to this incident, what would you do differently to clean it up? Use just rags and hang them all? Kitty litter and then let it air out somehow before disposing of it? Something else?

      Oh wow, I didn’t know that. I would do the same. I knew what was probably going to happen so that’s why I put the box with sawdust in me fire pit. Kitty litter might work well too as I doubt it will burn. I just did not have any at the time. I had lots of sawdust though lol.

    I'm confused, why wont it combusted in the container? So once its out of the container and onto a rag it will possibly catch fire?

    • @epeiusgarage
      @epeiusgarage  Год назад +1

      Yes, it has to do with the curing process. When the oil is curing it creates heat. If condensed enough it will generate enough heat to combust. I’m looking into the science of it I just want to make sure people know about it.
