BoostedMotorsports Great video, really appreciate it. Nice Viper, only other thing you could have done is let it also drain from the transmission cooler lines, but other than that great job bro 💪🏼👏🏼👏🏼
You must disable your traction control before installing new fluid. After you change out the transmission pan and filter the transmission needs to be below 86°F when you first start installing your transmission fluid and tires must be off the ground and truck must be level. Add transmission fluid until it starts to dribble out then put drain plug back in. With brakes applied place transmission in reverse and hold for five seconds, place the transmission in drive and hold for five seconds, release the break slowly and accelerate to second gear and hold for five seconds, apply the brakes and place the transmission in neutral, raise the engine speed to 2000 RPM for five seconds, return engine to idle and place transmission in park, remove fill plug and fill transmission until fluid dribbles out and then install drain plug. All these steps need to happen before the transmission reaches 122°F. If you go past 122° the transmission fluid will start to expand and you will not get a proper fill. !!!
I have a '15 Charger RT with the ZF 8HP70 trans and it seems you may have left out something that could affect the correct filling procedure, namely physically accelerating the car while it is off the ground. This is the fill procedure direct from the FCA oem factory service manual that I bought: 1.Raise and support the vehicle on a level hoist (Refer to 04 - Vehicle Quick Reference/Hoisting - Standard Procedure) . 2.Start the engine. The engine must continue to run for the entire test 3.Using a scan tool or the vehicle information center, verify that the transmission fluid temperature is below 30°C (86°F). 4.Remove the transmission fill plug from the right rear of the transmission case. 5.Add transmission fluid until it trickles from the fill opening. 6.Install the transmission fill plug and tighten to the proper (Torque Specifications) . 7.Lower the vehicle for access to inside of the vehicle, leaving the tires at least 8 inches off the ground. 8.With the brakes applied, place the transmission in Reverse and hold for 5 seconds. 9.Place the transmission in Drive and hold for 5 seconds. 10.Release the brakes, slowly accelerate to 2nd gear and hold for 5 seconds. 11.Apply the brakes and place the transmission in Neutral. 12.Raise the engine speed to 2000 RPM for 5 seconds. 13.Return the engine to idle and place the transmission in Park. NOTE: A full transmission will have fluid at the fill hole with the transmission between 30°C (86°F) and 50°C (122°F). Do not over fill. 14.Remove the transmission fill plug and allow excess fluid to drain from fill hole or add fluid as necessary. 15.Install the transmission fill plug and tighten to the proper (Torque Specifications) . 16.Using a scan tool, clear any DTCs. The driving the car may be there to be sure that there is proper oil circulation occuring in the torque converter. When i drove the car on the jack stands, a warning light happened for the traction control which is likely related to the DTC's mentioned in step 16 I also believe that it is important to measure what comes out when you drain as a reference so that you do not overfill..
Paul Andre There's a video about this as well. It also mentioned that an engineer from ZF talked about a temperature bypass valve that sends fluid to the condenser for cooling after it reaches 160 degrees F. So it doesn't completely circulate the fluid until after this temperature is attained. In other words you could have air in the system or not have the proper amount of transmission fluid if this step is left out. It's pretty much a two day job. Just stating what I did my own research on, not an expert in any way.
Just an fyi...from ZF themselves the step of taking the vehicle off the ground is not necessary or even recommended. They have very clear instructions on their website as well. The ZF8 is used in many many different makes of vehicles these days. Not sure why Fiat added the step of driving with wheels off the ground but it is not necessary.

Thanks for the video very helpful. I was under the impression that the transmission had to be level when you checked for the fill. From what I’ve read the back end needs to be elevated for this. The only other thing I’ll mention is the background music was very annoying, could just be because I am hearing impaired but it made it hard to hear you. Thanks again for the video.
This is Kind of Funny, I looked up how to change a transmission gasket for my 2017 dodge ram express and this video pops up. But I To have a 1998 dodge Viper GTS lol, so me and the video creator both have Dodge rams and dodge vipers! Id say that RARE lol
I love all these people telling you to lose the music, or change this edit, or do this camera move different..... like they are the producers in charge or something. LOL. Do what you do, bro. Thanks for the vid. I just bought a Ram after my Tacoma crapped out, so I'm watching as much maintenance stuff as I can find.... I HATE shops and dealerships.
Good video, but the background music is very distracting and needs to be removed. Also, is there a way to flush the transmission, because you still have old fluid in the torque converter, correct?
Not really. they stopped putting drains on the TQ long ago. The only option is to pull off the cooler line and put a drain, fill in place. However, you cant check the fluid like this. Typical shops who use the cooler line to drain out the old they are filling with new in the dip stick... well there is no Dip stick. Bottom line, NOT possible to flush. You don't want to flush an older trans anyway, detergents in the oil is dissolved.
Once you can switch over to a replaceable transmission filter I would anyway change fluid every 30,000 - 35,000 miles depends how much you tow. Great great video. Thanks
I've been working for Chrysler for about 10 years these Transmissions have been in the vehicle since about mid 2014 I've never seen a failure yet I have seen plenty of trucks traded in with over 300,000 miles with zero transmission issues because it will show up on the VIP if thay did it has nothing to do with Chrysler if you want I can print you up a copy from ZF themselves to Chrysler and their technicians
That is cool. I Think I will play it safe and change my 2014 at 100,000 miles or 7 years. Nice to know they last though.......Ill be taking mine to the dealer.
English tech guy I think ZF transmissions are expensive and don't last that long, maybe you want people to think Chrysler has strong transmission but Chrysler has been known for years to have weak ass auto transmissions.
English tech guy why is it that chrysler service says the fluid in the 8speed is lifetime and doesn’t need to be changed, I’m trying to get mine change it’s on a 2014 ram with 99,000 miles?
Edvin Nelius That was only on Dodge minivans long time ago, it's funny how people using this over and over to bash on all Chrysler transmissions used till today
My 17 is shifting weird at lol speeds down shifts hard and is bucking It seems to happen when engine is in eco mode I put truck in 4x4 auto and works more normal any suggestions or
Redline D6 ATF is the best fluid. I got ride of that nasty ZF oem fluid changed it 20k and it was a nasty dark brown and went with Redline 40k in still looks like new.
Thanks for this. I thought that in the manual, it calls for the truck to be off the ground (lift or jack on the diff), and to let the transmission shift in drive, from 1st and into 2nd gear. I think you may be short of fluid, as the 2nd gear shift pulls more fluid? Check some other videos. I'd hate to see your trans hurt low on fluid.
One Last thing Thanks for checking out the video hope it helped! I'm not going to bother with extra filters to be honest. The fluid was pretty damn clean after about 90k miles so the stock filter seems to be doing its job. I would be a bit hesitant adding additional inline filters as it could alter the oil pressure for the trans if it causes any restriction but honestly I think it's overkill... The replaceable ATP filter is only about $30 so it can be changed for relatively cheap if you were ever worried. Thanks again for stopping by and check back for more videos! 👍🏼
guys it's better to service the transmission every 40 thousand miles rather than get it replaced or rebuilt these ZF transmissions are not cheap to get rebuilt or even buy used!
I bearly got ram 1500 2019 and i didn’t know my truck did not have a dipstick , so i bearly drive mine around 17,000 miles so when should i take it for transmission fluid change ?
Good to see the transmission didn't produce too much in the way of filings and that the fluid appeared to be in decent shape upon inspection. Something about this AT fluid is so different that maybe conventional wisdom (regular maintenance) does not fully apply. (just a guess on my part and I'm probably totally wrong) That said, thank you for sharing your info with us.
Ever have any problem with the trans overheating? I bypassed my trans heater valve from the radiator. It went from 240 highway temps back down to 150. No CEL so far. 14 ram 4x4
Amazing that they say Lifetime on filter/fluid. Your fluid was good looking still. I just dropped one of ours and it only has 100,000 km's (about the same as your miles) on it and the fluid is done. Its black and the magnets have an acceptable amount of ferris material on them. I just started servicing this fleet and I know our older 300's haven't been touched in 300,000 km....yikes.
Yeah mine didn't look too bad but for people towing or putting more abuse I would definitely change it sooner like you mentioned! Lifetime if you want to throw the truck away or trade it in lol
Nice video, so you have to get transmission up to temp before dumping the fluid as well? Then once pan is replaced fill with as much as it allows before it starts flowing out? Has anyone made a full flush video yet? On GM vehicles i would drain pan, replace filter. Add what i drained. Disconnect atf hose from cooler and run until all the dirty fluid came out then shut off and replace same amount. Then it had full system of clean fluid
My dealer said there is no service interval. Lifetime. If I wanted it changed they said it would cost $800-900. Based on what I saw here I plan to wait until 100,000 miles.
At 9:30 when you only fill up with 2.5 quarts and then start the engine, do you not damage the transmission running it so low on fluid before you fill it up with the rest of the fluid you bought?
I hear ya but it doesn't hurt anything. You actually can't put anything more in since the pan is full and it is coming back out through the fill bolt. Starting the truck gets the pump running and allows you to get the rest on the oil in. As long as its not dry and you aren't driving the truck theres no harm done. Its the only way to refill.
Hey mate you missed the final step. After checking and topping up 4 times, you also have to drive the vehicle on the road and get the oil at least 160F so the cooler valve open and complete oil circulation completed. Then you need to park the car and wait the oil cool down to 109F or 50C again, run the engine on P again and check the level again. And you are good to go.
true, i think you gotta use 2000 rpm for a bit to fill the trq convertor also. i have a trans cooler with the bypass at low temperarure it drained it, at high temps it fills back up. so this is a 2 day process the way i see it.
Pros: Trans gets proper service Exhaust doesn't smoke a little Cons: Exhaust will still smoke a little All the oil dry needed to cleanup the oil spilt.
Awesome not a bad decision and it is good preventative maintenance! Thanks for stopping by and be sure to check out the rest of the channel for lots of other RAM content!
try to monitor the temp with new ATP and we talk later :)))...why ZF is bigger? because the shitty radiator that is cooling the oil is a piece of crap, very small...you just made the cooling more inappropriate by putting less oil...congrats...ask after why is black in 80k km.
Maurice Cooper I always upgrade any component I can - usually means better performance for less money but I’ve learned over the years that when it comes to transmission pans, control arms and engine intakes - than manufacturer upgrade it OEM is much more reliable than aftermarket! Just my experience!
What should be "level" when draining/filling the transmission? The shops would use a lift, so the frame is probably level. Doing this procedure on the ground would be different, especially if the front hasn't been lifted to match the back. I have a somewhat stock 2014 Ram 1500 quad cab. Will be doing this project in my carport. Really appreciate any help that you guys are able to provide. Thank you!
When I did mine, I put a level on the transmission and the back had to be lifted quite a bit to get it level (~10 inch jack lift), I was also parked at an incline with the back already higher. Once I did this I was able to put 8 quarts in (using PPE pan). Before doing this I only got about 6 quarts in there.
@@carlos33193 Why is it that nobody is making sure these transmission pans are level in ANY video? I also have the PPE pan, and am "looking forward" to doing mine soon. Guess you're supposed to use new bolts, too. Didn't know that either.
Great Video, however i have a question.... if we wanted to do the valve body o-rings where do you source those parts? is it easier to go with a bmw kit or are they out there for the RAM?
So what I gather you were only able to put 2.5qts back in and then you started the engine to put more fluid in after that? Looked like initially you didn't drain enough fluid to say you changed anything other than the filter pan. Did I miss something? How much fluid drained out when you dropped the pan?
Same trans in my ‘17 Durango. Just did this and now it whines while accelerating 🤷♂️ I’m gonna check the fluid level again tomorrow when it’s cold and see what happens. Mine took about 3.5 quarts...liters...whatever they call it. ZF’s manual said to do it with the fluid between 30-50 Celsius so that’s about 86-122 Fahrenheit. Will start it and just open the fill plug when it hits 86. I have a feeling it’s somehow overfilled
Thanks for the video. I have the same atp filter. At first I was hesitant to use it because of less capacity of fluid for the transmission. Since you have used the atp filter have you seen any difference in trans temp? less fluid equals higher trans temps. I tow a lot so that's really important to me. Also where did you get the zf lifeguard 8? I'm currently running amsoil signature series and honestly I wish I hadn't used it. This transmission is very picky. Thanks for making the video good job.
Hey Dylan I have not noticed any difference in operation with the ATP filter. The capacity difference is very very minor. II called ATP to confirm and they said lots of people are running this filter on their RAM. The capacity is only a few hundred ML difference. Search for the fluid on eBay there is a bunch of sellers selling cases of it. That's where I found it. Any other questions feel free to ask!
I got the mopar 8 and 9 speed atf. The same as the zf lifeguard. I got 12 quarts for 150$ which was amazing. Can you tell a difference in operation after you changed it.
@ Dylan Collet where did you score 12 qts of ZF for that price!? I've been searching for the past 6 months and you're price is half off of what I can find? I even considered the quantum blue since their price was better than ZF?
According to manufacturer their "lifetime" is a 100,000kms or roughly 60,000 miles. Found out when my trans quit at 190,000kms. They would not warranty even though they advertise Lifetime.
I’m trying to do same procedure and am wondering if this service can be done with the truck on level ground with the tires off the ground enough to do the shift through gear portion procedure. Or to get proper level does the back of the truck have to be jacked way up so the transmission pan is level?
Is it the truck or the transmission that needs to be level when refilling? I did this procedure yesterday And now I am getting a P0850 error Which I am reading could Be caused by the rock auto aluminum Pan. I purchased.
Was there a reason that you changed it? I know the little sticker on the side says lifetime fluid. I'm getting a hard shifts in my 2014 Ram 1500 and was curious if it needed a service or not. My truck currently has 104k miles
I followed the ZF link but it states the page cannot be displayed. I am on the ZF website looking through their service links but nothing is giving the information you stated in the video.
Hmmm thats weird maybe they took it down since it was going against the manufacturers "LIFETIME" statement. Here is another page from ZF website where it talks about changing the fluid at 100,000kms and how to do it, etc www.zf.com/corporate/en_de/magazine/magazin_artikel_viewpage_22180200.html
No worries! RAM just says drive it until it blows up or breaks and says the fluid is good for a "lifetime". The company that makes the transmission (ZF) says its just like any other transmission and that the fluid and filter need to be changed. Follow the ZF advice. This transmission has been put in lots of German cars (Audi, BMW, etc) and they all change their fluid and filter too.
i am wondering if you void warranty switching to this trans pan and filter. mine has 100k warranty and i would think its smart to not do this swap until after warranty due to dealership denying rebuild pan. or keep old pan... just in case.
Great job on this but it's not exactly how it's supposed to be done. Ideally you need to hoist the vehicle up on a lift or jack stands. run the vehicle through the gears, drive the vehicle to 2nd gear and hold it, then stop and check fluid level. All the time while keeping an eye on the trans temperature, if it goes above a certain temperature then the level will not be valid. I copy and pasted the exact way to do it directly from Alldata. It's a lengthy process but this is the TRUE way of checking & changing fluid level on your ZF8Spd. NOTE: Oil dye is not required to find leaks in the 8HP transmission. The oil dye can cause shift quality issues and is not recommended. The 8HP fluid has illuminance that is visible under a black light. Raise and support the vehicle on a level hoist See: Vehicle Lifting\Service and Repair. Start the engine. The engine must continue to run for the entire test. Using a scan tool or the vehicle information center, verify that the transmission fluid temperature is below 30°C (86°F). Disable Electronic Stability Control (ESC). Remove the fill plug from the right rear of the transmission case. Add transmission fluid until it trickles from the fill opening. Install the fill plug. Lower the vehicle for access to inside of the vehicle, leaving the tires at least 8 inches off the ground. With the brakes applied, place the transmission in REVERSE and hold for 5 seconds. Place the transmission in DRIVE and hold for 5 seconds. Release the brakes, slowly accelerate to 2nd gear and hold for 5 seconds. Apply the brakes and place the transmission in NEUTRAL. Raise the engine speed to 2000 RPM for 5 seconds. Return the engine to idle and place the transmission in PARK. NOTE: A full transmission will have fluid at the fill hole with the transmission between 30°C (86°F) and 50°C (122°F). Do not over fill. Remove the fill plug and allow excess fluid to drain from fill hole or add fluid as necessary. Install the fill plug. Using a scan tool, clear any DTCs.

Keep it up dude!
Thanks again for the video.
trans does need to be level. Looks like he only raised the front end, back wheels are on the ground.
"Music" ( Noise ! ) on an instructional video is counterproductive.
As useless as a a training seminar at a busy Miami nightclub.
☆
yes that music, which it is not,, sucks!!!
I would've added oil to the filter compartment before mounting the pan.
Don't flush the transmission! Just change the fluid.
Would have been helpful to mention the one T40 that is completely blocked by the exhaust I see now in the sped up video you change tools
My 17 is shifting weird at lol speeds down shifts hard and is bucking It seems to happen when engine is in eco mode I put truck in 4x4 auto and works more normal any suggestions or
I know it’s an old video, but Valvoline says their max life ATF is the same thing as a lifeguard.
Redline D6 ATF is the best fluid. I got ride of that nasty ZF oem fluid changed it 20k and it was a nasty dark brown and went with Redline 40k in still looks like new.
I only had 50k miles on my truck when I changed my pan and fluid. It was filthy.
With the 16:46 time required for the operation... we'll round that up to .3 for labor calculations
👍
Good trick I learned to keep oil and fluid off your pipes is to wrap them in aluminum foil while doing the service
Ram Forum brought me here. Thanks for posting this. I Know I was waiting for this. Any plans for the additional filters?
@@jonathanrodriguez1880 Every 50k-70k.
how do you expect to service it when is so complex to do what should be a simple procedure like an oil change
A way to prevent oil flowing on the exhaust when using the drain plug, wrap a zip-loc or plastic bag around the exhaust.
EchoStick aluminum foil won’t melt if things are warm.
Plastic on a exhaust? You can’t be a mechanic you made that up.
Thanks Rick glad you enjoyed the video! Let me know what you think of the other videos on the channel too if you get a chance 👍
Also the pan has magnets around the edges to catch metal debris.
Hows the transmission doing since you replace the fluid
I really enjoyed your vedio thanks a lot but I wished that you turned the music off :)
@iwoww 562 cant listen to what he's saying nigga
Love the idea of a replaceable filter, but the missing magnets concern me.
Really? That doesn’t sound right. Anyone else out there have an option on this advice?
I think its a fill for life if not towing or police
Hey mate you missed the final step. After checking and topping up 4 times, you also have to drive the vehicle on the road and get the oil at least 160F so the cooler valve open and complete oil circulation completed. Then you need to park the car and wait the oil cool down to 109F or 50C again, run the engine on P again and check the level again. And you are good to go.
true, i think you gotta use 2000 rpm for a bit to fill the trq convertor also. i have a trans cooler with the bypass at low temperarure it drained it, at high temps it fills back up. so this is a 2 day process the way i see it.
Thanks for sharing. Is your truck 2WD or 4WD?
Pros: Trans gets proper service
Exhaust doesn't smoke a little
Cons: Exhaust will still smoke a little
All the oil dry needed to cleanup
the oil spilt.
What about the oil in the Torque Coverter oil, the Cooler Lines, and The transmission coolers themselves. Why didn't you change that oil?
Dude I wish you kept your ram and did more videos on it. Love your vids.
Yes I'm doing mine 109000 thousand miles. I feel you
Awesome not a bad decision and it is good preventative maintenance! Thanks for stopping by and be sure to check out the rest of the channel for lots of other RAM content!
We don't want to use the drain plug because it will get on the exhaust lol
Great video, did you turn the engine off for the transmission to cool down?
Is there a gasket for the pan? Do you know the pan torque specs? Thanks
Pan comes with a rubber gasket. Its been awhile so I don't have a torque specs on hand
BoostedMotorsports The pan bolt torque specs is 8 pounds, and the fill hole bolt is 22 pounds.
The products filter and oil your using is no longer available on amazon
Good info. Homie. They sell Bigger catch pans. I'm glad you didn't burn your forearm. I like the music as Well
after seeing the differences in the filter I would have definitely got the factory one
They really are not much different besides the OEM one not having a replaceable filter.
Maurice Cooper ATP is good stuff
try to monitor the temp with new ATP and we talk later :)))...why ZF is bigger? because the shitty radiator that is cooling the oil is a piece of crap, very small...you just made the cooling more inappropriate by putting less oil...congrats...ask after why is black in 80k km.
@carlos33193 where exactly can you place level on transmission to know its level ? Is there a non slanted straight part?
@@carlos33193 Why is it that nobody is making sure these transmission pans are level in ANY video? I also have the PPE pan, and am "looking forward" to doing mine soon. Guess you're supposed to use new bolts, too. Didn't know that either.
My question brother is that now you used an aftermarket filter would you use it again or you would use an OEM ?
Yeah there was no issues I wouldn't hesitate to use one again. I believe the OEM one has come down in price finally though
Great Video, however i have a question.... if we wanted to do the valve body o-rings where do you source those parts? is it easier to go with a bmw kit or are they out there for the RAM?
I heard, that a Software check has to follow after fluid change of 8 gear transmission. You know more about it?
Hey Dylan
I have not noticed any difference in operation with the ATP filter.
Dylan Collett that's an awesome price! I didn't really have any issues before it was just preventative maintenance for me. Still drives great though!
@ Dylan Collet where did you score 12 qts of ZF for that price!? I've been searching for the past 6 months and you're price is half off of what I can find? I even considered the quantum blue since their price was better than ZF?
Wouldn’t that have sucked if the fill/check plug wouldn’t have come out after already dropping the pan first?
According to manufacturer their "lifetime" is a 100,000kms or roughly 60,000 miles. Found out when my trans quit at 190,000kms. They would not warranty even though they advertise Lifetime.
Would it be an issue if you overfilled it?
Yeah it wouldn't be good if you overfilled it Daryl! These things are pretty specific on fluid levels. 😥
The trans pan is naturally at a bit of an angle isn't it? It slopes down in the back?
I also have a 2014 RAM (not a Dodge) with the 8 speed. Thanks for the video. I will Keep this for future use.
I’m trying to do same procedure and am wondering if this service can be done with the truck on level ground with the tires off the ground enough to do the shift through gear portion procedure. Or to get proper level does the back of the truck have to be jacked way up so the transmission pan is level?
Transmission needs to be level
did this work out and hold up okay?
since you are replacing the pan at the bottom why dont you make a hole carefully with a 3/8 bit ? i mean it would make it easier to drain wouldnt it ?
What year is your truck? I have a 2014 and Amazon says that pan wont fit my truck. Mine also has the 8 speed trans.
Mine was a 2014 as well. It fits 💪
@@BoostedMotorsports Awesome. Thanks for the reply. I will be ordering soon.
Is it the truck or the transmission that needs to be level when refilling? I did this procedure yesterday And now I am getting a P0850 error Which I am reading could Be caused by the rock auto aluminum Pan. I purchased.
Do I have to replace the pan or can I just use the oem pan
I'd buy a new pan since the filter is integrated. New oil. New pan. New filter. But that's just me.
Thanks for the trans information. I must prepare for mine for change.
No problem Kenny thanks for checking out the video!
No nonsense type of guy. Thanks for posting.
Thanks for the support!!! 😎
Can you drain fluid cold?
Nice video, i'm a master Nissan tech, but picked up a Ram with an 8 speed and want to change the filter/fluid. Thanks for posting.
Awesome thank for the support! Glad you enjoyed the video!
You didn’t have any problems with the fluid leaking from pan gasket?
Have you had any problems with your transmission since this?
Good question as his new video shows he used Dorman and it leaked. Why did he swap it out?
Again another super video but the music is a pain and very distracting
I am very curious can you put that same trans inside a 2010 Dodge Ram
Probably way too much electronics that are different to make it an easy swap. Should bolt up though....
How do you do a complete flush? Is there not a lot of fluid in the trans cooler and tork converter?
During the oil discharge What is the temperature of the transmission?
Is there a certain temperature during the oil discharge?
Thank ...
Hey Naden, I try to have the temperature within the same specified range for filling.
Is this the same trans they use on the 2wd ones?? Its a 3.6vvt with the 8spd
When do you recommend changing the trans fluid? I have 42k miles
Was there a reason that you changed it? I know the little sticker on the side says lifetime fluid. I'm getting a hard shifts in my 2014 Ram 1500 and was curious if it needed a service or not. My truck currently has 104k miles
How you know if it is 6 speeds or 8 speed transmission
Have you had any issues since the service? Any noticeable improvements in shift quality? Looking to do this to my truck soon
Nope no issues so far! I didn't have any issues really before but just taking preventative action 😎
Here you buy the filter and how much was?
My trans overheated and they said my varram was the culprit to bloxking off the cooler lines ext. I think ita the valve bypass getting stuck
I know this vid was made 4 years ago but I’m being told the 8 speed fluid and filter is good for lifetime. Any thoughts?
Where did you get all the information about servicing this transmission?
Check the description I have links to all service info and where I bought the oil and filter!
I followed the ZF link but it states the page cannot be displayed. I am on the ZF website looking through their service links but nothing is giving the information you stated in the video.
Hmmm thats weird maybe they took it down since it was going against the manufacturers "LIFETIME" statement.
Here is another page from ZF website where it talks about changing the fluid at 100,000kms and how to do it, etc
www.zf.com/corporate/en_de/magazine/magazin_artikel_viewpage_22180200.html
Thank you for that link! Does RAM have the manufacturer specs listed on their site?
Well done dude. Music is dope af too.
Thanks Phillip I appreciate it brother 👍
i am wondering if you void warranty switching to this trans pan and filter. mine has 100k warranty and i would think its smart to not do this swap until after warranty due to dealership denying rebuild pan. or keep old pan... just in case.
NOTE: Oil dye is not required to find leaks in the 8HP
transmission. The oil dye can cause shift quality issues and is not
recommended. The 8HP fluid has illuminance that is visible under a black
light.
NOTE:
A full transmission will have fluid at the fill hole with the
transmission between 30°C (86°F) and 50°C (122°F). Do not over fill.
Remove the fill plug and allow excess fluid to drain from fill hole or add fluid as necessary.
Install the fill plug.
Using a scan tool, clear any DTCs.
Could I use amsoil transmission fouls in my 2015 Dodge Durango same trans?
So is your ram the v6 or hemi? I followed your link for the pan and it says it won't work for my 2015 ram rebel with the hemi. I'm seeing the V6 has the 845re transmission where as the hemi has the 8hp70. Can't seem to find the ATP part i need for the 8hp70 which is what I'm assuming my 2015 hemi Ram Rebel needs.
Is there any calibration needed or a software update after the oil replacement?
Nope its as simple as this video!
What do you mean by transmission getting up to temperature and spec between 80 and 122゚F
Great video pal, and I thought the music was good also. I didn’t think it was too loud. 👍😉
The website provided by the creator no longer works. Does anyone know where I can find the oil pan ?
