+River Hardt Right?! And if you're having an ~I don't feel like socializing~ type of day you have the option to just stay in your room too. It's perfect😍
Ya, eh, If this was available to live in Canada I would sign up right away. It reminds me of a retirement home but for younger people and you have access to everything that you normally wouldn't get if you lived in a dirty, yet expensive tiny little room in a student house in most Ontario cities. This is amazing plus you have the chance to meet new people and have a great place to hang out.
Yeah but it costs more than your own apartment so it's really stupid IMO. Especially since these places ask for the same deposits a normal apartment would have.
I hope one day you can. I have a friend who wanted to come here in Japan, (but I'm not in Japan right now) and she did because I helped her afford to go to Japan, she's been loving it so far lol But I really hope you can and enjoy the stay
Shared living can be an awesome experience, I spent about two months sharing living space with some 150 individuals and If I got to choose what format I'd be living in then it would have to be shard living. It gives you the warmth of friends and family, the security that comes from you knowing your neighbors well and they knowing you in return which is something that comes naturally from sharing some of your living space with others! Great video Sharla, Thanks for sharing this with the world!
That seems WAY TOO good to be true omg! Honestly I didn't think the rent price was that bad for what you get, especially if it is furnished and has all these accommodations. I would love to stay here at some point. Thank you for making this video, Sharla!
Prices are high in the Netherlands as well... Makes me want to live in that appartment complex in this video right away when I move out of my parents' home.
There are a few of these kinds of places around in Tokyo. Also depending on where you live in Tokyo you can find an individual furnished apartment for less, so this isn't necessarily the most affordable option. Not saying it is bad, just for some individuals the benefits might not outweigh the costs.
I see what you mean. The biggest benefit is that you meet a lot of people like this and that is very beneficial for a newcomer to Japan. But if you have lived there for a while then an individual apartment is indeed better.
I recently came back from a brief study program in Tokyo and it was amazing, stayed at the Bunkyo dorms and met some amazing people. watching your videos makes me want to go back for a longer period of time. japan is spectacular!
THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR THIS VIDEO. I will be attending Waseda starting in September and I just found out today that I'm not promised a dorm! Been looking for living all day! This looks like a great option for my year abroad!!
fortunatly i had saved up enough to cover my expenses :') plan for about a 1000 (euro) a month though. it's kinda expensive down there :D so worth it though :3
I'm in the exact same situation haha. Hoping to get a place in the dorm but if I don't I'm definitely gonna be considering those kind of social apartments
This is actually so lovely, it actually makes me want to run off to Japan, the fact everyone seemed so respectful (like communal alcohol that isn't completely empty haha) and friendly makes it so appealing. Also that tiny cup for the toaster killed me, SO CUTE!
This is amazing. Definitely makes the idea of moving to Japan less scary. The housing situation is one of the major stressful things, but his makes it easy! Would love to see more videos on other places like this or just a video talking about lots of different places/options! :D would be so helpful!
This is seriously so helpful oh my gosh!! I've been thinking about going to Japan for a year and this is definitely an idea I'm going to keep in mind for living space! 💕💕
We're moving to Japan this month. (Hubby and I). We considered a share apartment or share house situation for all of about a day before realizing there were maybe 2 in all of Tokyo that allowed pets, and they charge double if you have them. We have one cat and one dog, which is apparently very uncommon in Japan, or at least in Tokyo. Had a hard time finding an actual apartment that was okay with it, but we finally did! Yay! :-D
I live in one of Social Apartment's apartments and can really recommend it. Lotta fun and yes easy to meet new people. They even promote that you bring people over (usually share houses prohibit or limit visitors) so it's not always the same people around! The image of a share house usually isn't very positive ('share houses are dirty' 'a lot of weird people' 'locations is bad' etc) but whenever my friends come over they're really impressed/jealous of where I live and realize the stereotypes aren't true at all!
I actually really like this idea! You have your own space if you don't want to deal with anyone but if you want to socialize you can just go downstairs! The equivalent idea of this in America is a bunch of people to share a house or an apartment. I feel like my space wouldn't be as privet sharing an apartment or house with someone here in America. It's like you have to make friends just so you can share an apartment. I like this much better!
I just started watching your videos the other day and I am enjoying them so much! I've been to Japan a few times and studied Japanese off and on for years but have never gained any true fluency. Anyway! I am loving your channel! It's fun and informative! Thank you Sharla❤️
This is totally unlike shared living spaces here in the UK, especially the parts where I live. The rooms are genuinely small and there's usually one oven for everyone to share downstairs and a very disgusting bathroom and most people steal each other's food and rarely there to make friends hahah. This seems like such a beautiful place!
I'm from Japan but Im currently going to a high school in Canada but when I graduate here and go back to Japan, id love to stay this kind of apartment! Thanks for introducing me this!
I wish my shared house was this cool... I was cooped up in a tiny prison room for 8 months, and finally got the hell out of there. This place is sooo nice for those who can afford it, and love being social! My new private apartment is definitely cheaper than a room here, though.
This is a great video and I'm sure many people who are coming to Japan for the first time would love to see what having housing like this is truly like
omg when I saw the living spaces and the different rooms... I'm in love~awe it really does look like a friendly and clean atmosphere! Also when I saw the fruit/alcohol sitting up there in the jars it made me think of what my mom does haha she keeps lemons and honey together for 3 months or so to drink later on, it's sooo sweet and refreshing!
This is what they do for student halls of residence here in Scotland. It's great when you aren't exactly able to afford too much as all bills are included in your rent and all you really need to supply is the food, drinks, travel and the other essentials for living on your own. Some of them even offer free breakfasts, cleaning services and transport to your university if it is really far from the universities. I can't wait to look into this more for when I start thinking about studying abroad.
This is such a useful video! Even though I don't plan on living there I can see why its such an awesome concept if people want to live abroad or with other peoplr
That sounds like a really neat place! I'm not great socially so it would be nice to have such a welcoming place where I could meet people - especially from so many different countries! It feels like it would be a lot less intimidating.
i wish we had something like this in the u.s. when i was starting out years ago! love your videos ...they are entertaining as well as super informative...you should have your own t.v. show!
This sounds like such a dream! I've never considered actually staying in Japan for more than two weeks max but this really sounds like a nice transition.
this is so awesome , I wish they had something like this in Canada. Your tour guide man (I don't know his official title or name) knew English really well. Love how they had the bar area/food area in the bat as well. It's so perfect. I wish my boyfriend and I would move into japan!!
The fact that the price for a month is cheaper than some hotels are for a week or two is amazing. I have bookmarked their website for future reference. Thank you for doing this video Sharla, keep up the awesome work. :D
Wow! That is pretty awesome. It is a total upgrade from a competitive university dorm in the U.S.A. - at least the one I went too - At a fairly comparable price. The room is bigger, has a kitchenette, group areas with the top of the line appliances and you don't have to share a bathroom. The only question I would have is if the "rent" includes traditional Japanese expenses that are not the norm for westerners such as "monetary gifts" to landlords and the required Japanese citizen co-signer that many foreigners pay agencies for.
Sharla in Japan Thanks Sharla😊 My dream is to visit Japan one day❤ and thanks to you and your encouraging and informative videos I know my time there(one day) will be super awesome.
That is an amazing apartment and really nice idea ti share the longue, kitchen etc. an easy way to make friends and learn japanese ! I think if I have the opportunity to go to Japan in the future, I would stay there!! Thank you Sharla :)
I would like to see more of your sister. She seems nice. You could do a japanese cute makeover video or take her to your hair salon to do something different.
When I was watching all the shared spaces and the apartment I thought that it was going to be super expensive. I was really surprised that it pretty much costs the same as a tiny apartment without all the awesome shared spaces and stuff. I'm not sure if I'll ever get the opportunity to go to Japan, but this would be the ultimate way to stay there. And the shared spaces might scare some people, but to me it seems the ultimate way to get some regular human contact (as I'm a bit of a hermit myself 😅)
Omg ! I am in love that's such a good deal , I feel like u can get such a great experience and the place is sooooooooooooo big and coool this sharla💕💕💕💕💕💕
That sounds really awesome, I wish I had known about this sooner. I will be coming to Japan for a year. My friend recommended me Sakura house which also look very good. But this one seems to be really top notch.
I'm actually looking for a new place to live right now! I'm staying in a share house but it's not working out too well (inconsiderate housemates) but what I've seen from these social residences they seem to be so much more considerate and also the opportunity to make Japanese friends is invaluable! Thanks for suggesting this place I'll give it a look!
Also, I would love to stay at a place like this for a shorter visit, like two weeks. Do you know of any good options for something like that, like a hostel or something similar? Thanks! :)
Wow that place looked absolutely amazing! And it was so cheap! I don't live in a large city or anything but here in the Pacific Northwest rent and housing is just generally very expensive, so I was very impressed by the price.
Does the $1,000 dollars a month cover electric and water bills or do you pay those separately? Can you hear a lot of noise from downstairs in your room? Also, how come many apartments don't allow foreigners?
Nutmeg Knight not trying to be rude or anything but, all those questions can be answered through Google. The website for the apartment answers those questions if you search the website a bit and as for foreigners in apartments, there's many reasons, so it's best to google and read up on it to get the full picture. :) You'll also be able to find through articles and such how hard it is to get an apartment and all the crap you have to go through to do so. But in a nutshell, foreigners aren't trusted - they assume you'll wreck the place or won't pay your rent or be loud and noisy and disrupt the other people leaving in the building. It's mostly built on stereotypes of foreigners (Americans specifically, and unfortunately all foreigners are assumed to be American by default). Plus there's often a language barrier, so many landlords don't want to deal with that (or with the potential case of having to deal with it). Just do some googling, you'll find tons! :) and it may lead to you having more questions, too, which then leads to more research on your part... Sharla can't answer every question (seems to mostly be the ones that are super short and simple that require short and simple answers) and so sometimes you gotta take the info she's given you already and find the rest yourself.
It's included in the price! plus you even get WI-FI! Many don't allow foreigners because they may leave suddenly or because of previous experiences where foreigners have disturbed people
Omg I'm so happy you did a review on this place! I need an apt after living in my universities dorm for 6 months and I'm totally coming here! Thanks sharla 🙏🏽:)
Sharla in Japan pool is def my favorite so that's gonna happen :) you, Kelly, and I gotta have a slumber party here cause I'm def gonna get a place here 🤘🏽🤘🏽
I lived in one like this!! There's so many in Tokyo, and it's so much cheaper than you would expect. My share-house was full of hard-working people in their late twenties though so no-one was at home much. Also it was called 'Chilli pepper and Cream' for reasons I don't know why
Lol, love that you had to mention the Pokestops. I saw this apartment on 'Internationally ME's channel. It looks brilliant. I would love to live there if i went to Japan.
wow this is amazing i wanted to plan my trip to japan for so long and this would be the perfect palce for me to go to and make friends thanks sharla :)
I started learning Japanese when I finished high school last year, and I am going to japan for 2 weeks at the end of the year and then next year for a month to travel around to different places all over japan I also have a goal to move to japan in 5 years time so I will keep this place in mind, thanks for the great video.
wow this place is cool af. it is honestly such a great option for living in tokyo. I have a feeling this place will be very hard to get into in the near future lol
This is so awesome!! I really like the idea and I was thinking what should I do if I ever decided to live in Japan, your video answers my questions and I can practice Japanese more often and more fluid.. OMG I'm so excited!! I can't wait to go and experience living in that place 😁 .. Thank you Sharla!!!😘😘😘😘
I probably won't be able to live in such a place because of my anxiety but this looks pretty neat for anybody who wants friends and a nice "dorm" experience
This was so helpful!!! I was thinking of applying to the JET program sometime in the future when I graduate, but I was also thinking of living in Japan for a bit before I do that and honestly I'm really worried about making friends too! Mainly because I'm just not able to get over the language barrier yet despite taking Japanese classes for a long time now... this sounds great and I'm definitely looking into it soon!
Wow this is such an incredible idea especially for those who aren't as out going and could have trouble meeting friends.
+River Hardt Right?! And if you're having an ~I don't feel like socializing~ type of day you have the option to just stay in your room too. It's perfect😍
I'm actually going to be in Tokyo for 2 months next spring and am currently in search of an apartment. Might consider this!
MomoMochiもも餅
Same! I'm planning on moving to Korea, I hope they have shared apartments in South Korea. Or else, I might be in a little predicament! :3
It seems like an adult dorm haha. The classy version of college dorms.
Ya, eh, If this was available to live in Canada I would sign up right away. MissScribbleHeart me too. It's literally my dream

最近このチャンネルに出会って英語の勉強として見させてもらっています。すごく聞きやすい英語でわかりやすく、見ていて楽しいです!!!
Thank you!!!
That seems WAY TOO good to be true omg! Honestly I didn't think the rent price was that bad for what you get, especially if it is furnished and has all these accommodations. I would love to stay here at some point. Thank you for making this video, Sharla!
That is pretty cool. I like the different work areas and community. I am too much of an intovert to want to live like that but super neat.
IKR, I think if I went I would stay in my room lol
Seems way too good to be true.... I bet there's a massive waiting list
+Kelly Nope! There are still open rooms believe it or not😱
It's 1000 dollars a month and gets cheaper per month the longer you want to stay.
Prices are high in the Netherlands as well... Makes me want to live in that appartment complex in this video right away when I move out of my parents' home.

was checking out regular share houses but this place seems like paradise
You can also book overseas from oak house or borderless, one of them also offer social apartments :)
It looks so awesome, would love to stay there!

Nicole Bowden cool ^^ waseda is great^^ had a exchange programm there with the law facility :) we didn't get a dorm as well :')
That's awesome! What did you end up doing for living?
fortunatly i had saved up enough to cover my expenses :') plan for about a 1000 (euro) a month though. it's kinda expensive down there :D so worth it though :3
I'm in the exact same situation haha. Hoping to get a place in the dorm but if I don't I'm definitely gonna be considering those kind of social apartments
Hi!! I was wondering how is everything going. Did you end up picking this place? How's everything with the Uni? Thanks
always nice when Sharla's sister is a part of Sharla's vlogs. 👍😊
they had me at ps4
Oh my gosh, same 😂

Sounds wonderful during the summer before school begins and I love the video

This is rlly good for people who r homeless and needs a place to stay while they're trying to get back on their feet
Finally a country that does it right! I am so amazed. thanks for sharing.
I'm bingeing the latest 3 Sharla videos now, Sharla you're awesome as always!!
+Jonathan Y. Thank you for watching😊👋🏻❤

I love Shay's hairstyle.. she looks sooo pretty with her hair down!
Great video, Sharla. Hope your sister is doing well. Love all the cool places you show us 😁
I'm from Japan but Im currently going to a high school in Canada but when I graduate here and go back to Japan, id love to stay this kind of apartment! Thanks for introducing me this!
Wow what a great place! Thank you for showing us Sharla!
Another AWESOME VLOG! Love from Texas!
Jaime Veat Thanks for watching!!👋🏻❤❤
I wish my shared house was this cool... I was cooped up in a tiny prison room for 8 months, and finally got the hell out of there. This place is sooo nice for those who can afford it, and love being social! My new private apartment is definitely cheaper than a room here, though.
that's... the cleanest shared living I have ever seen.... by far.
I love how informative your videos are!!
It's like a dorm but for adults! Awesome!
sounds like a great idea with all the perks and sensible price. btw i love your outfit!!
This is such a useful video! Even though I don't plan on living there I can see why its such an awesome concept if people want to live abroad or with other peoplr
I really enjoyed the content of this video. It was very informative and looks like a neat experience for you and Shay!
Thats such a neat idea especcially if you try to make freinds when you are new in town
That sounds like a really neat place! I'm not great socially so it would be nice to have such a welcoming place where I could meet people - especially from so many different countries! It feels like it would be a lot less intimidating.
thank you so much for this!! i'm planning on studying in japan for 3 or maybe even 6 months and this sounds sooo good!!!!
i wish we had something like this in the u.s. when i was starting out years ago! love your videos ...they are entertaining as well as super informative...you should have your own t.v.
Im at work and I recieved the notification for your new video. So looking forward to watching when I get home❤😊
Sam Castillo Have a good day at work!☺️👋🏻
Sharla in Japan Thanks Sharla😊 My dream is to visit Japan one day❤ and thanks to you and your encouraging and informative videos I know my time there(one day) will be super awesome.
Outside of retirement homes I've never heard of a shared living arrangement. That's very very interesting. I like it.
I wish we had that kind of spaces while I lived in Toronto! That looks so awesome and also, cheap for living such a big city.
That place looks amazing! The room was like the size of one person apartment in Japan plus all the cool living areas.
This looks so fun and friendly, wow!
OMG! Thanks a lot! its much better than I expected! cant wait one more year to get to JP!
This place looks delightful! It's a nice option to have!
I'm so envious! That seemed like a lot of fun!
Thank you Sharla for uploading a new vid because I needed the distraction from thinking of my upcoming finals :)awesome vid
That is an amazing apartment and really nice idea ti share the longue, kitchen etc. an easy way to make friends and learn japanese ! I think if I have the opportunity to go to Japan in the future, I would stay there!!
Thank you Sharla :)
Your Sister looks so happy . Move her to Japan ! She likes doing this with you , your so lucky !
I would like to see more of your sister. She seems nice. You could do a japanese cute makeover video or take her to your hair salon to do something different.
Aww :) We will be doing a live show over on my other channel (ruclips.net/user/sharlainjapan) tomorrow June 2nd at 8pm Pacific Time if you wanna join!
When I eventually go live in Japan for a bit, I will definitely look into this! Looks like so much fun.
When I was watching all the shared spaces and the apartment I thought that it was going to be super expensive. I was really surprised that it pretty much costs the same as a tiny apartment without all the awesome shared spaces and stuff. Omg ! I am in love that's such a good deal , I feel like u can get such a great experience and the place is sooooooooooooo big and coool this sharla💕💕💕💕💕💕
What an awesome high-end Share House! Nothing compared to the dumpsters I used to live in Japan lol
Wow. This is the earliest I've gotten to a video before. XD This place looks really cool!
That sounds really awesome, I wish I had known about this sooner. I will be coming to Japan for a year. My friend recommended me Sakura house which also look very good. But this one seems to be really top notch.
Really nice place, the shared kitchen is lovely.
This is amazing! This definitely would be at the top of my list if I were going there.
Awesome video, thank you for sharing! This is definitely how I'm going to do life in Japan the next time I return!
I'm actually looking for a new place to live right now! I'm staying in a share house but it's not working out too well (inconsiderate housemates) but what I've seen from these social residences they seem to be so much more considerate and also the opportunity to make Japanese friends is invaluable! Thanks for suggesting this place I'll give it a look!
this is such a good idea!!! I cant believe I've never really heard of these before.
This is so awesome, I wish I had done this when I was younger!!
Sharla, thanks for the awesome walk through!
Wow, this is fabulous! And their prices are amazing!

@Conan Of Cimmeria Really? omg
This is honestly such a cool place!~ I love it!
Omg I'm so happy you did a review on this place! I need an apt after living in my universities dorm for 6 months and I'm totally coming here! Thanks sharla 🙏🏽:)

Lol, love that you had to mention the Pokestops. I saw this apartment on 'Internationally ME's channel. It looks brilliant. I would love to live there if i went to Japan.
wow this is amazing i wanted to plan my trip to japan for so long and this would be the perfect palce for me to go to and make friends thanks sharla :)
seems pretty amazing!!! will definitely look into it ~
You always cover all the necessary information!
I started learning Japanese when I finished high school last year, and I am going to japan for 2 weeks at the end of the year and then next year for a month to travel around to different places all over japan I also have a goal to move to japan in 5 years time so I will keep this place in mind, thanks for the great video.
I have only seen this in TV shows so o can't wait to see the different

Wow this looks amazing! What an awesome idea
This is so great! I was wondering if they had something like this.
wow this place is cool af. it is honestly such a great option for living in tokyo. I have a feeling this place will be very hard to get into in the near future lol
This is so beautiful I can't believe it. I might stay in a shared apartment then while I am in college there
VERY helpful. I plan on visiting or hopefully moving there. Thank you ❤
This place is amazing! I have a friend that is thinking of moving there so I sent their info his way. I think this is so awesome.
So cool! and your outfit is sa cyuuute, sharla!
I love that black shirt, Sharla. Looks good on you!
