It was a great pleasure to have Scott visit Maple Hill. I didn't even know he was coming until he texted me the day before. He has a very similar approach to disc golf as me. Full of energy and trick shots and still loving the game he started playing before I was born. I was honestly surprised on how good he still is and both forehand and backhand have some serious power. And he's 51!! Great times once again and I hope you enjoyed!

Oh my Sky God! I wasn't expecting that for the shot of the day! I filmed that in summer with my amazing form😂🇫🇮
nice shot!
That was a great Kevin Jones impression!
Great shot, congrats.🎉
@@jakellis1493 my exact thoughts. 😂
Keep at it kid! This sport is gonna be absolutely nuts when your age group grows up!
Scott was gracious enough to give my 13yo a few pointers 20 min before this video was shot. Super guy.
Haha, man he was busy that day. Teaching your son, recording his Audible book, and playing a round with Simon. He's kinda like the Most Interesting Man in Disc Golf.
How do you know it was their son maybe it was their daughter they just said 13yo
@@user-py5ey8cd3e who cares
I had that happen snowboarding I asked someone that happened to be an instructor. Dude was hella cool
@@user-py5ey8cd3e seriously? Shut up
Scott Stokely is the man!! 17 or 18 years ago I had the privilege of playing random doubles with him as my partner in St Cloud, Minnesota... Needless to say we won league that night, and the only shot we used of mine was a throw-in from 100 feet!!
Cool story man I love the St. Cloud course it’s so much fun!
Riverside? :D
@@JTNugget Calvary
@@morgankaufman2679 Cool! Already played a few rounds there this year so far. Can't wait for Riverside to put up their baskets though.
Lol I know the feeling. Threw one of my best shots on a local course and he asks if we can birdie it. I say maybe you. Scott “ok, I’m going to try something.” Proceeds to throw a sky anny through a 2 ft gap in a bunch of trees to put it next to the basket. 😂
We love Scott.. he is such a great dude!
To have Scott say "I'm a fan of yours"... Simon, it's fair to say you're a part of history. Well done.
Scott's forehand throws are just pure gold! So effortless.
That is the most effortless forehand I've ever seen...it's beautiful 🤣😂🤣😂🤣
I tried to replicate his technique a few years back when I first discovered him. I can attest to the fact that its buttery smooth
When Simon said who it was, I remembered watching a 2002 or some year like that world championship and Scott was the guy ripping forehands when not many other people did
@@George-nx4bp I saw him park I-5 at DeLa with a sidearm back in '93, when it was really long. It blew our minds.
Catching high quality footage of stokely's forehand is like getting high quality footage of a giant squid. You know its out there, you have heard stories about it, you have even seen a couple short grainy videos of it... but catching it once or twice in high quality footage is priceless, you want to just sit there and rewatch it over and over again.
hilarious
Guy could still compete on tour easy! His forehand is so effortless and just glides for days!!!!
His initial resolve when he returned to the sport was to become the MPO world champ. That will be incredibly tough these days, but he's seemed to have found an incredibly successful role in being a great coach.
Lol. I just don't think so at all. He's amazing, and a legend, but no way he could compete with the top guys today.
@@jakeszymanski5626 he could without a doubt compete on tour. Would just likely finish in the back half of the standings
I had a clinic with Scott a few weeks ago. Im a junior playing in Virginia. He was such a nice a guy and gave great ways to improve my form. He also played in a tourney at my home course and I watched him. He had some great shots for playing blind. If he’s ever in your area, go to one of his clinics.
Yeah, his seminars all sold out already
I am in Knoxville tennessee. He did a clinic and seminar here and I'm kicking myself for not signing up
Keep up the great work and look forward to one day playing a round with you in Va.
So good to see you out playing again Simon! Didn't realize how much I missed it.
I've been to both Maple Hill and Caliber in Sandpoint, ID. So hard to choose between the two of them, I sincerely feel Scott's pain.
Scott looks like he can still play on tour, what a legend!
I mean it seemed like he kicked simons butt and he’s, in my opinion, one of the best in the sport
He does play on tour
@@ericporter2373 not last year when I commented that LMAO
@@isaacfriedman6605 ha, true 👍
I was in that seminar before he played, Scott is such a great person, super knowledgeable, and as humble as he appears on camera. Would love to see him again
How much did it help you? What did you gain distance wise backhand/forehand?
@@AppeaseEmAll honestly it help out a lot. Before this I was able to throw 350 max RHBH and then after some form correction and tweaking threw almost 400 with 85% power. As far as forehand he was able to show the proper form (there is a pattern here) on how to be consistent and not throw forehand like a frisbee. Yes there was an immediate difference once we were done but if I keep practicing what he taught me I will be able to throw RHBH and RHFH over 400.
Anybody: "Did you just go long?"
Scott or Simon: "Yeah."
Of course.
Simon I need you to tour again I extremely miss seeing you on the cards especially since Casey is killing it I love watching you guys play on your vlog! Your my fav keep being awesome!
Scott is a Smart man! Seminar's and teaching will make more guaranteed $$ Than playing tourneys plus you get to be where you want to be when you want to be. :) He's reaping the rewards of all his hard work over the years! :)
Not only that, but i bet it is boat loads of fun getting to meet all these people and play their courses
I was lucky enough to be around a ton of legends when I first started playing in '89 in California. Scott rode shotgun in my van on a road trip from Sac to the Wham-O factory in SoCal where we picked up a full set of disc golf baskets to use on temporary courses in the NorCal Series. (I don't think we gave them back for close to 10 years) Just for giggles, he set the field-goal distance record while we were down there. I had a photo of Scott, all damn near 7 feet of him, sleeping in a Lazy-Boy recliner in my sunroom. He was literally hanging off both ends of that thing. What an amazing disc golfer and a genuinely nice guy. Watching him and "little" Stevie Rico throw 400 feet plus over the lake at Aquatic Park in Berkeley......into a 20mph headwind......was absolutely jaw-dropping. This was the early 90's. A "fast" disc was a 6 speed. lol Thanks for coming back to the sport, Scott. You were missed.
That man is SOO deadly accurate with a forehand
Scott seems so nice and pure!
Played 2nd fiddle behind Scott ,for many years in distance competitions,it was unreal watching his 4 step -- 360 turnaround bombs,,he was throwing whippets 650+ like it was nobody's business
Absolutely beautiful to see two legends from two different generations bonding over such a great sport. Almost brings a tear to my eye.
Best episode ever! Mr. Stokely is one of the legends. You should have more of these legends on your channel. We'd love to hear about everything these guys and gals went through.
I’m doing a clinic with Scott on Friday!!!!!
Scott Stokely is the truth! That forehand is silky smooth.
I started playing DG seriously in Denver/Fort Collins in the 90s, and Stokely was this mythical figure that threw the disc twice as far as anyone else. Easily my favourite player of that era. To see him playing with Simon (favourite player of THIS era) was simply a joy to behold. If EITHER of you come to Perth to play Aussie golf, I'd love to host you.
I love Ft Collins. I was there for the '93 Am Worlds. What a great bunch of guys to be around. The competition was fun, but the overall atmosphere was the best part.
I wish you could've talked history with him more. What a legend!
Scott has been hanging out on the clubhouse app. He will answer any questions or just chat with you.
As someone that grew up in Coeur D Alene, ID, it's really cool to hear such a legend like Scott say something about North Idaho
More with Scott. That was fun watching.
Scott is a Ledgend!!! Had the pleasure of camping with him at Punderson state park for a tournament!! What a absolute blast!!
Knew it was Scott from the under leg forehand. I f&%@ing love Scott Stokely and what he does for the game.
Same lol. When I saw that my mind went to Scott Stokely as the legend that can make that happen.
I met Scott up at Farragut and what a super nice dude! Pure Legend!
Thanks again for taking the time to talk and throw with us on hole one for a bit! People always say don’t meet your heroes but y’all were the freaking coolest! Good luck with the rest of your recovery and I’ll be pulling for you when you get back on tour!
Glad to see Scott getting some love. Dude was right up there battling it out with Climo back in the day. Went to a couple of his clinics a few years ago and got some great info. Soo much knowledge about the game and just a great all around guy!
Saw this video and checked out his website. Scott's running a clinic tomorrow afternoon at the course that's 2 miles from my house! Thanks Scott and Simon!
Read Scotts book recently. As a new player, I really learned a lot. Also, it was very honest and frank, and full of humility, unlike most autobiography's. Good read.
Wow....
Scott at Maple skills so cool...... Thanks 4 this guys......
And now I’m signed up for a 9 hour Scott Stokely seminar.
Dang how? Everything I see says "wait list only"
@@alwaysradical1613 Got one of the Detroit spots in July. Had one spot open and I snagged it!
@@alwaysradical1613 Same! I put myself on the wait list for the Milwaukee one in July. Come on Scott allow 7!
You will not be disappointed! I just did the Fort Worth, TX clinic with him a few days ago. Time and money incredibly well spent, wherever you may be in your game.
@@dmennenoh Scott addresses this in his seminar; it's perfectly timed out to work with 6 and allow for both group and individual instruction. Adding even one more person would really diminish the quality of the day, and he feels he would be cheating everyone.
I can’t believe all the Ace Runs I just saw. Great job!!
Simon: "What is the one thing you would say why someone should sign up with you for a day of teaching?"
Scott: "They're gonna be better afterwards."
Badass MF quote of the year
Scott came down to Huntsville to teach and he is amazing. For those that don’t know, Alabama is deep rooted in Disc Golf. Scott is a class act. Simon...you and the whole new OG (Eagle, Paul, Paige, Brodie, James, CoCo, and the JOMEZPRO crew are growing the sport!
Scott is a wonderful guy and superb teacher. He will make you a better disc golfer.
Was at Stokely's full day seminar today. Putting, backhand, forehand, thumbers, tomahawks, rollers, upshots, grips, and overall playing philosophy. THere was even a few throws with the Tilt! It was fantastic! Stokely's method works!
How much distance did you gain with backhand/forehand?
@@AppeaseEmAll Backhand, I went from a 300-325ft thrower to a 335-350ft thrower. More importantly, I gained a lot more consistency. The whole day there were no nose-up or random hyzers that were plaguing my backhand. Forehand, I went from not having a forehand, to having a forehand!
My best bud had a private lesson from Scott in 2019 when I was only about 3 months into playing and didn't know how BadAss an opportunity my buddy had. I'm hoping he comes to the Houston area again soon so I can be sure to sign up for one of his clinics now that I know what an absolute legend he is.
Thanks Simon for this video and so glad that you're feeling good enough to play some. Wishing you the very best! 👊
Great video, so awesome that you played with Scott. Hes is a great dude, got to meet him last year at Farragut for Up the Gut. Simon you need to get up to north Idaho and play Farragut and get up to Caliber, it will blow your mind. it is a must play and the views and area is amazing.
We have all met the Disc Golf GODFATHER now.
I live in Spokane Washington and I've played Caliper before... and let me say IT IS EVERYTHING SCOTT MAKES IT OUT TO BE! I have to agree it is at least my favorite course I've ever played too!
My dad kept a keen eye on Stokely throughout the mid 2000's and passed everything he learned from Stokely down to me. It's safe to say we both greatly improved in our technique and all around theory of disc golf. Stokely taught me how to drive 600 feet and I can't say anymore than thankyou for everything you've contributed to the disc golf community. Cheers to another Decade
That was great! Love Scott’s love and passion for this beautiful game.
Get well soon Simon. Can't wait to see you back.
Went to one of his clinics 2 years after i started, LOVE ME SOME STOKELY
Scott is insanely good. Bring him back on tour!
Hell yeah Scott is the man! His videos have helped my game so much! I have nothing but respect for Scott! 🤜
That under the leg shot was insane...
So awesome to see Scott in this video. I stumbled across a blue haired version of himself on a RUclips video a few years back and he felt like that hidden, very wise mentor that movie heroes seek out for guidance. Very glad to see now that his reputation as a disc golf coach lives up to that!
A seminar with Scott?? all day disc golf?????? wow that would be a day I'd never forget
This is perfect, because Scott used to be what Simon is on tour, kinda.
How in the hell did 4 people not like this? Great as always Simon, Scott is such a good dude.
Definitely going to watch more of Scott's stuff. I love watching that guy throw. That forehand is crazy.
YES!!! SLOWMO MONTAGE FT. SCOTT STOKELY! A regular slowmo montage is good, but you just blew the normal ones out of the water.
Stoked to see Simon and Stokely gettin' it in.
I met Scott back in 1993 / 1994 when he was at Mt Airy Forest Cincinnati. He was attempting the world record Frisbee toss and catch. I don't remember the distance, but something like 15 ft away, the guy had to catch a Frisbee tossed by Scott which was clocking 68+mph.
Really neat to watch.
by far, the two disc golfers i have learned the most from. so great to see them together
So cool to hear Caliber mentioned. Absolutely incredible course.
Scott has such an old man shot. But he had that as a young man as well. And throws a mile anyway. Love him ❤️
This has to be top 3 favorite Simon blog! Scott seems like a super cool person.
You inspired me over a year ago to start my own channel.... and as I watch my channel grow (not as fast as yours) I just wanted to say thank you for inspiring me Simon.
YES!!! Love me some Stokes!!!
Scott Stokely still does things with his forehand that no other top pros do. He is still amazing. Glad to see that is is sharing and spreading his knowledge.
At 9:35 my dude hits the underhand thumber putt between 2 trees. Outrageous shot.
Caliber is awesome! Simon, you should go check it out. By that time he may have his second course done
Seriously, 2nd course is supposed to be over 10k feet I believe. So much beauty up there, I'm excited to go back next year!
I have two VHS tapes that Scott put out back when I was learning the game. Still have them, still watch them, still have a VCR player which I keep so I can watch those two vids. I have also watched nearly every "instructional" DG bit of content on You Tube and still do, but Scott's two original tapes are the ones I learned the most from. Nothing new out there has surpassed them in my view. Thank you Scott Stokely, and thank you Simon for showcasing him here!
Simon! Two videos?!? What a great weekend! I’m just so happy to see you getting back out on the courses. Disc golf tour and your fans are missing you.
Wish I got a session from him when he was in Worcester. It was obviously full.
Thanks for introducing me to Scott's book! I instantly jumped on Amazon and bought it. Hopefully it shaves a few strokes off my game, knowing what he knows!!!
Great video, as always! He was so methodical and had an eye for the lines! Just like you dude!
HAVE A GREAT DAY SIMON It's 8am I'ma go out for the day and start putting and also I can make it a regular stance putt and a staddle putt!!
Scott is unreal. I was lucky enough to share the fairways with him a handful of times.
Scott’s sidearm makes me happy just watching
Can't wait for Stokely to be at my local course!.
Gotta love Simon, nature appreciation moments, and the slow mo montage.
Scott's teaching technique is amazing. I look forward to each video snippet he releases.
Epic slow-mo montages of two epic players! Thanks, Simon, for bringing the vlogs back!
Signed up for 4/13 in KC - cannot wait!!
Clicked "Like" after the opening! What a shot!
I absolutely loved that!!!!!!
Also simon I saw You in real life Last week your such a humble guy! your the king of content dude keep it up love this channel.
Stokely is an absolute legend. Cheers Simon for getting to enjoy a round with him
Scott sidearm looks so beautiful. Throwing hyzer flips with side arm is much more enjoyable to watch than those hyzers or flex.
Great video!!! Love seeing you play with these legends!
Hey Simon shoutout to your Padawan Casey for absolutely shredding it in Texas this weekend 🔥
2 of my good friends took sessions w/Scott in Denver. Hope to do the same soon. Hope to see Simon back to 100% soon too. Def my fav on tour!
Nice to see you throwing again just wish there was more footage of you guys playing love watching Scott throw
Just klicked in and then that shot. Wow dude🙌🤩
Fantastic! More content like this Simon.
Best shot of the day so far. keep em coming
Such a great sport. And beautiful course. It's so quiet, unlike Morley Field.
Nice video! Nice to see you guys throw a little bit 🥏 And great quality with the new camera! 😊
Absolutely love scott!! We should see him more in the vlogs
These guys are my 2 favorite disc golfers. I had just been playing for fun from 2011 to 2017 and Scott came through Montana giving lessons. I had no idea who he was. I booked it and got to spend a few hours with him and few other students. He was an amazing teacher.
And Simon has always been my favorite current pro. His style, attitude and arm strength are the best to me.
Scott is so clean with the K3 Bergs!
