There's no single correct way to play disc golf. Yes, prizes are given to those who get the lowest score per round but it is equally solid way to play the game by attempting weird and astounding ways to score each hole, even if the total result suffers. Like with any other thing in life are no rules besides law, you do what you like. Simon clearly prefers to have fun and take risks with individual holes more than average player and I appreciate that. I do (or: did) that too although my old hand is much much weaker and now a bit crippled too.

I'm still trying to figure out how he got his disc on the green. Getting that distance on about a 90 degree turn is insane.

If you took Peak Climo (assume the course matched what he had for his time), Peak Paul, Peak Ricky and Peak Simon and gave every player 4 rounds then totaled the sum of best into 1 round, Simon would win. He has eagles nobody else has heard or thought about.
Seems like a great format for encouraging creativity. And fun.
I've LITERALLY seen one added mid tourney, at least once, because he took a line that no one thought anyone would take!

@@romanpfarrhofer Well, if that’s the case then it’s not that uncommon for that to happen vs mid tourney round which seemed like the point considering they change layouts mid tournament (obs, Mandos) not infrequently.
@@dylanburch2719 IIRC it's actually the one where he was on Jomez and and Jerm said they needed to add a mando there.
Oddly enough Gannon took a creative line last week at the KC Wide Open and they got approval from the PDGA to add a mando after the first round.

My home course is harry meyers outside dallas. Back when the nick hyde memorial was an a tier, eagle, ricky, paul etc were out playing it. They added mandos on 2 or 3 holes solely because they saw lines even john houck didnt anticipate lol
I stopped by there once. I actually found someone’s phone on hole 1s fairway and turned it in LoL. I wish they’d put it back on the tour schedule. I love that place

I love trying to find new lines by thinking outside of the box. The courses I play on dont have any mandos so you can think outside the box on every hole

I know this because I designed and installed courses with mandos before Simon became famous.

I think most people with a decent grasp on humour can read this title and realise it’s a joke. I’m not a disc golf fan, never heard of Simon and yet knew going into this that the title was most likely tongue in cheek.

This is the reason I say EVERY disc manufacturer needs to make prices $100+ per disc.
Make the level of entry harder. They don't have asshats on the DG level in ball golf or other sports unless a homeless dude with $16 can get started...
I support tee fees and taking the burden off of the tax payers... Which also limits the low value people I want nothing to do with playing with us on the course.

Okay honestly I don’t watch disc golf at all but would totally if they didn’t have an effin rule that is mandatory. Nothing in a sport should limit one’s creativity or unique ability that also makes it entertaining AR to watch … just another reason why this sport is going nowhere. That’s horrible management and a ruling body. Nothing worse than mandatory anything in this world. Reminds me of catholic school 🤢🤢🤢
I wholeheartedly feel like if he doesn't already, he would love everything about Skikamaru from Naruto! Their personalities line up so well, especially with as he's now toning it back to preserve his good years before he retires and becomes a full time RUclipsr who has a Steve Irwin level weird about him just because he loves what he do!
