I love how Simon is still grounded enough to genuinely be encouraging to amateur players and be excited WITH them when things go right. You've managed to keep your feet on the ground in spite of being one of the top disc golf players in the entire world. Bravo sir.
That very real moment when they connected over being colour blind and not owning red discs. Simon wasn't afraid to make a genuine connection with another human. That's the sign of a good soul.
As an 870'ish player myself, this is just about the coolest disc golf-thing I have seen on youtube. I hope there will be more interactions between pro players and sub 900-players! Big, big thumbs up!
here wishing you were here in Finland now too, so i could see them clutch/glitch -shots irl at the Beast :D These vlogs though are always so enjoyable, that waddahell, keep on living in the free world!
I've loved the Power Disc Golf Academy idea, and been following you for a while now. So glad Simon decided to help out, and I'm excited to see where this goes!
Hard to express the excitement here! Simon and Uli are two of my favorite players, and I pretty much learned to play disc golf watching Paul Ulibarri tutorials, so I was super excited and signed up immediately when they first announced power disc golf academy, so seeing Simon joining up is probably the second most exciting thing that I have experienced since I started playing. This is going to be awesome! And anyone who either hasn't heard about it, or who has been on the fence, go check it out, the tutorials are amazing, but the community is even better! There seems to be a lot of toxicity showing up in a lot of the disc golf groups in social media, that does not exist in this group.
Just when I thought the power disc golf academy couldn't get any better, you joined as an instructor. I'm so excited for your lessons to start being available, my game has improved 100%. I'm looking forward to seeing what i can learn from you!
A few things: 1) I hope I am not being too forward but how can you not be in Europe? 2) You mentioned you were probably too busy do Power Disc Golf. I guess you worked something out? 3) David is just a bit obnoxious. 4) Yes, both the MD1 and Hex are great discs. 5) Is MVP / Axiom / Streamline working on some discs with more dome? Throwing Dunnipace designed discs for so long made you used to it. 6) Evan’s first ace! 😀
@@NolanSmithers97 ruclips.net/video/q9e_lEs7ASE/видео.html The whole video is great but 5:45 is where Simmons explains, leaving your disc in one place and moving your body around your disc. After playing for a couple years nonstop, I would reach back while doing the x step and my arm would sit in that position for a while as I did my run up. After fixing my form, now when I step forward I feel the power build up as the distance between my leading foot and the disc grows. As soon as these two things reach their peak stretch I release the tension forward. This is key. My arm is only in the fully stretched out position for a split second. This was key. You can do this all in very slowly and still feel the build up in power in the stretch, the key difference is the leg moving forward not the arm going back. I think this video is the epitome of perfect form but it’s hard to understand all the nuances that he’s truly trying to get across until you’ve had bad form for a while, I think this is why it has 425,000 views. Watching this as a beginner is helpful but you don’t know what you don’t know. Unfortunately, after you’ve played quite a bit and you’ve screwed up your form, it’s easier to watch this video and learn from it but then you have the long journey of trying to undo your bad form and relearn the correct way to throw. It’s worth it though. This took me from 325ish to 400ish. Then learning to plant foot and transfer weight into the leading leg instead of leaning over it James Conrad style (James is the only one who’s made that style work) added another 40ish to my drives. Hope this helps. Every disc golfer should watch this Simon video. I’m not sure where to look for forehand advice. I’ve tried a lot of things, but I just can’t get a lot of power and it makes my elbow hurt if I try to much. My forehand is passable and usable but not great. Good luck
@@TheGreatestJuJu Thanks for the vid recommendation. As for forehand, power is still in the hips, not the arm. Arm strength helps but swing the hips around, try not to worry so much about arm swing (let that be natural) and then really get a pop with the wrist like you're swinging a hammer at the end. If the hips pull the arm thru and you pop the hand at the end you'll see improvement.
Simon you seem like you enjoy throwing slow turn overs? isnt that not the hardest shot in disc golf? seems like a hyzer flip to flat with your power would be best or could you give a reason why etc?
This would such an amazing opportunity. Still learning so much about my game. And the power disc golf academy is such an amazing teaching and learning tool
Simon, you should autograph your discs, so when you lose them the kids have a little piece of memorabilia to go hunt for. You know kids were swimming in that pond the day after this video dropped!
There is a new course in Central Pennsylvania that is really nice and it is a pretty hard course. It is called faylor lake disc golf park. It is in Beaver Springs Pa. It is about 40 minutes South west from Bucknell University. Tgis course is drawing tons of people in from all over to play it. You. 2 should get up here and run it. They have a par 4 that is 1100 feet.
Wish I had seen this video earlier but I am def joining the academy. Been playing since 2009 and while I play decent, I have long wanted to move up to a stellar player. Will be trying out the 2 free lessons tomorrow as I'm prepping myself this week for a tough B-Tier this weekend. Great round. I played the MVP open in 2018 and it was an amazing experience. Crazy to watch it played with a single disc.
Power DGA member here. Also the one that beat Simon in his virtual ace race. Power disc golf academy is the best teaching course and community ever. Hands down best place to go for teaching. And now with Simon!!!! Don’t sleep on this! Welcome Simon!

Thanks for posting Evan’s ace. He said he would not go in until he got one. One proud Dad here.
That was an awesome shot!
Evan made me happy. Have a nice day, sir!
Evan has the good guy’s ball cap on as well. Boomer Sooner!
That’s what it’s all about! Thanks Simon for posting that ace! Keep enjoying the game Evan, sick ace!

Agreed 100%
The way Simon quietly said "me too" when the mindbender came out and the gentleman said he loves the disc.
Wow you found Paul McBeth’s long lost brother…
Instantly thought it was McBeth for a second

"long lost cousin" I'm getting more of a "The Parent Trap" movie vibe 😂

Great Value Paul McBeth

Simon and Beth McPaul in one video, LETS GO!!
The kids smile at the end was the best part of the video. But the whole video was great!
Glad Maul PcBeth could drop by.

Simon your nature appreciation moments are what remind me to like every video! Well done sir!
I love that David himself embraces the joke that he is McBeth lookalike :D
The joy shown by Evan's smile after his first ace, precious!
Yeah. one of the nicest shot of the day reactions.
Yeah you could tell he wanted to play it a little bit cool but really couldn't hide his excitement.

Simons advice on leave behind instead of reach back added 75ft to my drives. However, it did take 3 months and a few practice fields to get there
