- MVP has done something pretty crazy here. I have no idea how they did this but they took off the rim of some popular discs from other brands and tried adding an overmold of existing MVP/Axiom discs. It's pretty impressive how well this worked. I had a fun competitive round out here with them for sure!

These are the best style videos. Seeing you play “tournament style” where we see your score while you use a limited bag on various courses would be so amazing for us to have to almost compete against when we play them with our full bags. Almost like these guys in the c-tier who I’m sure are gonna be watching this to see how they stacked up.

I’ll save you the wonder, the rim is far more important than the flight plate. For the most part, any franken-disc (plastics used aside) will fly pretty much like the rim.
I can imagine the guys at the MVP warehouse: "He wants an overmold on WHAT now?!!"

They were so Beautiful sitting on that shelf amongst all the rest at that shop right down the road from Cedar Hill in Nashville TN in early 2011 when I really got into DG. Ice Blue Proton Ion. The fact that they overmolded the glow ash stamp is amazing to me. All hail the king! And I’d even go so far as to say that it is, in fact, groovy.
More pros should crash C-Tiers just for fun. I’d love to see a top pro decimate our local course.
88 in MPO at an A-tier in NorCal the week between OTB and BSF. Only 2 of the top 10 were not touring pros. They're on the Tour for a reason. It's a blast to get smoked... on occasion.
Simon is one of the most happy go lucky guys in disc golf. Glad to see him out enjoying himself.

Dude I would love to see MVP do some collabs with other brands and actually sell overmold versions of their discs.
Have you done a video of how much the overmolded discs are different from their two counterparts? I'd love to see how the time breaker matches up against a cloud breaker and a time lapse. It's interesting to see
I think they have a round press cutter for offcuts, which they used to cut off the outer part of the rim. Then they just trim it with edge trimmer/profiler and overmold as usual.
My favourite overmold is the lat64 gobi.

It would be super cool to see Simon battle other pros with their signature discs and Simon with overmold variants
They most likely put them in a milling machine or CNC machine to cut the discs to the specs of the overmold inner dimensions, and they obviously have those. Then probably use their regular overmold machine to do what it does.

The round was as stitched together as the Frankendiscs. It wasn't always pretty, but it lit a torch under you. RAIN BAD! SIMON GOOD!

I mean the upshot on hole 3 was purely the beautiful interpretation of the greatest actor dead or alive…. Mr. Bruce Campbell that was stamped on the disc.
Only been playing for a little over a year, and literally half my bag is Craves in various levels of stability. It's really made the sport enjoyable and accessible for me.
I literally thought about these discs 2 days ago, and now you are throwing them. This world is weird 😂
Innova TL and the Crave are very similar in dimensions. It makes sense they have similar flight.
Diameter: both are 21.1cm
Rim Height: TL-1.6 cm & Crave- 1.4 cm
Rim depth: both are 1.2 cm
Rim width: both are 1.8 cm
Inside rim depth: TL 17.5
Inside rim depth: Crave 17.4
Nothing like watching Simon play a casual 18 hole round. More of these please.

This is wild, I wonder how the joining is done in tooling. An overmold implies you already have a disc to a certain shape to be overmolded. Very curious about the discs like the TL and the P2 and how that was done. Cool!
*Edit: I think Simon is right, I expect a jig/fixture is used to constrain a disc and remove material in a methodical way and down to a certain diameter to fit in the overmold tooling.. no idea how they close/shutoff the tooling though. MVP doing cool stuff!

If you want to play a nice free course while you are in Minnesota you should play Robbins Island Regional Park in Willmar Minnesota. I know the weather may make casual rounds tough but it’s fairly close (a hour west of of Clearwater) and a nice course.

so what im thinking, is this provides a great opportunity to possibly reuse discs. if the rim gets too beaten in, perhaps you can send discs back to get a regrind and an overmold, potentially reducing the overall footprint behind each disc.

One of the most underrated discs is the TL. What’s a man got to do to get that TL
I could imagine them using a lathe and setting a depth on some sort of cutting utensil and then just shaving off the outer diameter of the disc that they need to be removed maybe even with a notch, so the other plastic is able to bond better just my thought , sick video though I’ve always wondered if other companies would follow suit and do over molded discs or is it proprietary technology ? I’m using some clash Discs with tone technology right now and I’m verry impressed with them
I believe there is a machine that trims all the cores after they are molded. It's a two step process to make mvp discs. Also they have the overmold patent which is why you only see different overmold types like innovas 4 point, or clash tone.

Flew just like a crave. I prefer the relay for backhand full tilt hyzer turnovers. Same angle and flight with dx thunderbirds 40 more feet

Get them to make a double overmold, where its like a full regular putter like a proxy and then you put a dimension rim on it or something crazy like that
They can't just do anything on anything, the discs have to have the same thickness where the rim meets up, he discusses this in the video where the discs are first introduced.
I think they use a CNC to cut the discs?

Curious how this could affect your actual game. Other players are probably dialing in their discs. You are somewhat new to MVP and playing with weird discs. Aluminum discs ect. Ect. You rock and are one of the best in the world. But I think you could really take some tournaments if you put the RUclips aside and put in the bag only practice all year. Dial them in till you can't anymore. But you probably already did that and now having fun lol. Keep rocking dude. I love the content.
