    Nice buddy! Great upgrade! I’m currently using the Focusrite Scarlett 2i2

      I was originally considering a scarlet... but the price was right on this one (also have some plans for the 4 inputs)

      Behringer was sold out so I decided to go with the Presonus Studio 24c. It saves me a bit of desk space.

      That’s a much newer version of what I just replaced.

      @@gearheadchannel fingers crossed that I don’t start getting clicks and other sonic bs. I don’t imagine I’ll actually do much audio recording with it though.

      I doubt you’ll have those issues

    I went with the UMC1820 a few months ago and I’m so glad I did. My buddy has an Audient that he paid twice a much for, and he only gets 4 mic pre’s, half the line outs, no midi in/out. And the bottom line is, you can’t tell the difference between tracks recorded with that or the Behringer. I almost pulled the trigger on a $600 interface, but instead I got the Behringer, used for $250 and with the savings I’m getting a Behringer XTouch controller.

      Amazing performance for the price. Mine is still going strong. Only complaint is that I’d prefer if the phantom power switch was on the front.

      @@gearheadchannel I agree, in a blind test I doubt the audio snobs could tell behringer from any other pre, especially in a final mix. The 8 channel has phantom on the front but it's in banks of 4. (1-4 or 5-8) One tip: the black on black front can be hard to view in low light. I saw a video where a guy replaced the black knobs with different colors. Makes grabbing the right mic pre, volume, headphone etc a lot easier.

    Hi! Does the 404HD have loopback please? I want to do remote interviews so recording the computer audio and sending it to OBS is a requirement for me. Thank you!

    Hi. Are you sure that headphones monitoring is ONLY for input 1/2 OR 3/4 (depending on A/B button) and not for all inputs at the same time? I have a reason to think that you might get this wrong. Please confirm or deny. I m about to buy this unit and I need to be sure.

      I believe I may have made a mistake here, it seems it switches between output channels 1/2 and 3/4 … not the inputs, those are all monitored at once. Sorry for the confusion.

      @@gearheadchannel Thanks for making it straight. That's a well produced video btw. Cheers :)

    Noob question: since there is only one switch for the phantom power, what happens if you want to record two mics at the same time, but one is a dynamic mic and the other a condenser mic? If I switch on the phantom power, will it fry my dynamic mic?

    • @gearheadchannel
      @gearheadchannel  Год назад +2

      It supplies phantom to all the XLR inputs. This probably won’t damage your dynamic mic, but if you don’t want to chance it, getting an XLR to (1/4”)TRS adapter or cable would function as a bypass as phantom power isn’t supplied to TRS jacks.

      @@gearheadchannel That's sound advice. Thank you, Mr Gearhead :)

      …also, you could get a phantom powered inline preamp like the FetHead.

    Ive had this interface for about 10 months. Do you plug your in the wall also? I use to then my iMac quit. not sure if that had anything to do with it. but I keep it unplugged now.

      @gearheadchannel  3 года назад

      Yeah, I keep it plugged in - unless I’m away from the computer for an extended period of time.

    Why doesn’t the drivers work on my pc I’m running windows 7

    • @gearheadchannel
      @gearheadchannel  2 года назад

      I’m on a Mac; so I don’t have any experience using this interface with a Windows 7. I’d recommend consulting Behringer’s support on the matter.

      I had same trouble with win 7 when I first got a UMC204HD. Then learned there was a win 7 update that would cure the problem (the win7 updates are still coming in 2023 in spite of Microsoft's dire warnings about support withdrawal). Just allowing the updates worked for me (along with downloading Behringer driver version 4.38.0, reputedly the least problematic.) Then got a UMC404HD which worked straight off on same win 7 computer without any further downloading or resetting. Well, worked for 2 months before inputs 3 and 4 packed up.
