Canon FD 135mm f/3.5 - Vintage Lens Review
thanks for the video, very useful. I'm finding that the sound isn't very high when I attach this into the jack socket on my Nikon Z6. I'm not seeing anywhere to boost the sound on the receiver.
What does normalized mean?
All recordings were brought up to matching levels.
Unfortunately your presentation style makes this virtually unwatchable so unable to comment on the content
So very nice of you. Thanks for the feedback.
@2:18 Where was that shot at? Those foundational stones look rather ancient... (Greece?)
This was all shot in Winnipeg.
@gearheadchannel Fascinating. Your city has a lost history that isn't in any textbook.
I live in the old warehouse district, and it is still mostly intact with 100+ year old buildings. A lot of them use a local stone called Tyndal stone, which is notable for the amount of fossils it contains.
The grip was a LOT heavier than I was expecting. It is built like a tank. Very solid but that means you are carrying around a lot of extra weight. The spring is super strong so I don’t think it needs a lock. It is almost too strong so you need strong hands to mount the phone. Other than that it works well and should last provided the shutter button holds up (too early to tell).
this is exactly what i was looking for actually hahaha thankyou so much! Just realised this was three years old, why do the most useful best videos have so few effing views and my actual feed is always filled with trash raccoons :(
28mm is much better than 35mm, but both are not for digital cameras. There are better lenses. This ones performs best on silver.
Lol i recognize that Gym anywhere! From WPG???
3:48 This gave me a gut spontaneous laugh! From now on I don't care about any specs anymore. It's about ART.
I had my doubts about this lens (Takumar super-multi-coated 35mm f3.5), having only paid $35 for it. Plus it was kind of slow at f3.5.. I'm not sure if you got a dud, but I absolutely love mine. The lens is very contrasty and produces deep rich colors. The small details are absolutely amazing. What tops it off, is the lack of vertical distortion. I can point the camera at tall buldings and they come out looking straight. Out of all my Takumar lenses, this is one of my favorites even though I also own the infamous 50mm f1.4 8-element and the 85mm f1.8. For the money this lens is a bargain and can't be beat ! I also own the Super-Takumar version, but I'm not sure which is which ? I think last time I went out with it, I used the Super-Takumar version ? Maybe these lenses don't work as well on mirroless cameras ? I tested mine on my Pentax K-5 IIs DSLR ?
Can each channel be record separately, for for person podcast?
Yes.
Personally, I love my F4. As soon as I heard about it and saw a picture of it on the internet, I thought it was beautiful! I never understood why people hated him. It fits very well in the hand and the shutter is very soft, allowing low-speed shooting. A beast this F4!
Does the dB button on the receiver actually boost the recording gain, or is it just a boost for monitoring purposes?
It should boost the output level for that channel. It has no effect on the internal backup recording on the transmitter.
thanks for the review!Btw did you notice any strange sound when monitoring directly from the mic?my has some hiss, idk it might me the headphones, but when plugged into motherboard they're fine, idk what might be the problem
I didn’t notice any hiss when testing the monitoring, but I also found it to be rather quiet overall. Maybe your headphone jack wasn’t plugged in all the way, or perhaps it’s an issue with your specific copy.
Hi! Great content, thanks. A quick question if you’ve got a sec for a newby: will this lens fit on my Nikkormat FT2 body? Cheers
Thanks. Yes, lens will work with that body.
Really nice review! I was wondering what audio interface you were using to record. I also purchased the mic, probably going to be delivered tomorrow. I’m planning to use it with my id24, the main reason being the talkback feature so that i can hear myself while chatting and playing games. Also I have dt 770 pros and the headphone amp on the mic doesn’t seem to be powerful enough to drive them imo.
Whoops. I forgot to include that info. My interface is the Behringer UMC404HD.
I bought mine used (obviously) a couple years ago and it's still an amazing camera. To me, the image quality has a creamy look to it and makes the images more appealing and keeps the colors in line. I still use it in my line-up when I know the image quality will give me the magic it still produces.
If there is any such thing as a stylish beautiful looking camera the F4 is it. I have 2 of them and I love using them. I am now subscribed to your great channel. Cheers!
This is really a very helpful tool. And so generous of you to share it with everyone! Congrats!
Do you see the pixels on the paper ?
Yes.
Why do you think 5-6 levels of brightness instead of % would have been better? Just curious.
Why do you think 100 levels of brightness would be better?
what vintage zoom lens would you recommend for an apsc like my sony a6700 ? with a m42 mount converter
I don’t know of any myself.
The d100 was my first dslr anything I was blown away by what 6mp can look like at native iso and a high quality fast prime lens! absolutely beautiful! I now have the D300 D700 D850 anda ton of prime lenses have probably shot about 100k pictures in the last 2 years! Street landscape and wildlife! these older cameras is all you need to snap a memory that will last way after I am gone .. keep up the good work!! cheers from Park City Utah!
This camera was revolutionary for me. I owned a few digital point and shoots prior, but there was no comparison to the results from this camera and something like a 50mm f/1.8. It absolutely hooked me on photography. Yes the D200 was better, but in my mind the D700 was the next big jump in quality and value. To get a sense of the value in a D100 or D200, give a D2h a try.
The only reviewer to properly explain and demo the Mono Stereo and Ms function well done. You need to think again about your phone brand though lol. Thanks for the info.
Any links to some of these dumby adaptors? I have an eos m, so would need two dumby adaptors that can connect to MD - EOSM and the other M42 - EOSM to then connect to the Zhongi Focal Reducer. Thanks in advance.
I don’t think there is an EOSM version of the lens turbo ii.
@@gearheadchannelIs there a mount ring adaptor that can connect to the Sony E side of it onto the EOSM APS C?
@andobreslin8735 I believe they both have a flange distance of 18mm, so that probably wouldn’t be possible.
Hey. Thats my apartment building...lol.
How do you format the transmitter files?
the same way you will do a sd card - plug it to a computer and use the format function.
Amazing effect mate,
I guess you don't like Canon lenses...
I had one of these. It was the most interactive camera I had ever used, much to remember….cock shutter, pull slide, be sure to reset film counter when replacing film, etc. but one of the things was, when you did everything right, you were rewarded with some of the sharpest and beautiful big prints, or better yet, positive slides with an insane amount of detail. As I was wanting to shoot portraits more, I sold it and bought a bronica ETR, with the prism viewfinder. But every now and then, I still wish I had held on to the mamiya.
I I think this lens is sharp but the focus is close and the focus distance is extremely far from 20m to infinity. Taking photos is ok but shooting video with this lens is not as good in design as the nikon 35-70mm lens (nearest focus 0.5m, before infinity is 5 meter)
Agreed.
thanks for the review! i appreciated your look🤘🏻similar to the product. Greetings from Ukraine 🇺🇦
Awesome, I was wondering the same, thank you very much for your video!
Hello! Thanks for the experiment! Just to be clear...You project a negative image right?
Yes.
The effect looks like dogshit. Thanks for wasting my time, amateur.
Thanks so much for this video. Been thinking about one of these to use with my m42 lens collection (mostly beloved Takumars) and my Fuji but was worried about image degradation. Glad to see its minimal or non-existent!
Love the effect man!!
I just got this kit- they changed the receiver.
I was thinking about opening the projector and replacing the lamp with a UV LED bulb or the same power...
I love the way you could leave it switched on all day and take a photo in a second or maybe half a second or a quarter of a second no waiting.
What about an overhead projector, like the old classroom ones? 🧐
I never thought of that… I seriously think you might be on to something.
I tried the old school opaque projector approach but got zero results. Apparently my 25 minute exposure time wasn't anywhere close to what was needed. I seems that, even with a digital projector, you need an exposure time that exceeds 2 hours to see anything happen. I've been racking my brain about how to get strong uv light to project from that primitive little bulb inside. Anyone with an answer out there please save us!!!
If only there were a commercial mainstream drop-in digital sensor with a built-in battery and inbuilt micro SD card slot for 35mm cameras. I have seen some unique ones but no mainstream units... come on Chinese help us out!.
I have a Takumar guy that I linked your video to. Hopefully they will contact you and help!
This video is over two years old. I’ve since sorted the issues out.
@@gearheadchannel Well, it was on RUclips Shorts just now, and by the way, YOU'RE WELCOME!
Back in the day, Pentax had a more expensive line of Spotmatic cameras that sold as a "Pro" version. They were a black body with white lettering instead of the black lettering on various things and were a bit squarer than the rounded normal version. If you were a "poor boy" that wanted to look cooler you would paint your Pentax black... that's why. I happen to have a "real" black Spotmatic but just as a collector's item. I do have and love the Takumar lenses since I first started shooting sills in the seventies. I have a full collection of cine-modded Takumars and use them for my video production. The look is fantastic though some clients like the cold hard look of contemporary plastic fantastic lenses and then spend ages color grading to try and get the look these lenses generate naturally. I use my Takumar 50 with an adjustable Venes adapter adjustable focus tube which lets me get within 1mm on the fly. I'm still hunting for an 85mm priced right as Takumars have been going up about 3-5% per year as people discover them and they just ain't making any more.
I bought my first Spotmatic from someone selling it because they bought a black one.
Still have mine from new, def shoot RAW jpegs blow out highlights more than recent cameras.
I’ve noticed that on my 5D classic as well. If I’m shooting jpeg, I’ll set my exposure compensation down a stop.
good products all overall but bad and I mean very bad Customer support
Good to know. I hope I don’t need to reach out to them then.
@@WINDSHEAR-STUDIO I gonna go for a flashforge adventurer 5m pro 3D printer for the rigs an cases.
That's a very nice kit 😊❤
Any suggestions for wireless mics if you don't have microphone jack input?
Did you shoot dis the test with a full frame sensor? That makes a difference.
