Have you tried reinforcing the projector with uv light for faster developing?

The F4 ist one of the best analog cameras which Nikon produced and a total bargain. I got mine for about 200 Euros. For non-studio work I can only recommend the smallest version with the MB-20 battery pack. 4 fps is more than enough for most people, but it's much lighter than the F4S or F4E (I had both of them and sold them), who offer 5.7 fps.

What a great concise video, and I think you've confirmed what I suspected. That the D100 is a bit too niche/bleeding edge for its time to make much sense now. A D200 seems to be a huge step up in all regards. But that was just the way things were back in the early 2000's digital camera market. Things moved fast.

I bought one exactly like this years ago for my Nikon D70 that had a broken aperture sensor tab on it (so pre-AI lenses actually mounted on it). I shot live music with this for years, and it was great! Although manual focus was difficult. Now that I have mirrorless cameras it’s great for those too!

I always use the Original pronunciation. Nikon is originated in Japan, so the right pronunciation is Knee kon.

Most of those shots look pretty good at 1080p and many are still not bad at 4K -- the worst thing is the CA. The studio scene is more savage but at 7 feet the lens is probably not at its best.

I own and use the following lenses that I use on 35mm film cameras: Asahi 28mm f/3.5 Super-Multi-Coated Takumar Nikkor 28mm f/2.8 AIS Nikkor 28mm f/3.5 pre-AIS Nikkor 28mm f/4 PC Vivitar 28mm f/2.5 Zeiss 28mm f/2.8 Biogon Zeiss 28mm f/2 Distagon T* ZF 2 At the same apertures, there is little difference in the image quality of the lenses.

I got the later version in an F2.8 and it’s a beauty. The 50mm f1.4 is amazing too.

You got me thinking at the end. I have, or had, a very heavy Kodak projector and iirc between the lamp and slide there was a big chunk of square glass. I'm thinking it was maybe a UV filter to go easy on the slides? Anyway...there it is and it was easy to remove.

I have one and it's does not reach infinity on a spotmatic. I heard this happens with the pin and you have to take it apart to adjust past infinity. Wtf

This is a good overview, but you have not indicated whether the transmitters have MUTE mode enabled. Can you answer if there is such a mode in these microphones?

I am trying to find something that I can cnnect to my phone like this Mic but I also want to use a gimbal. My question really is with the Gimabl I have a feeling with attaching the receiver this woulds not work and cause the Gimbal to be unbalanced.Or did you already do a test like this and I have not found the video.

Cool video. I am a fellow Winnipegger and I have the same camera. Mine is a bit rough around the edges and I have a 127mm F 4.7 for it after the kit lens died on me while I was shooting in the Exchange District. Oh well. I have the 6x9 back and it also has settings for 6x6 and 645. Between my Koni Omega and Mamiya Press 23 I kept this one. Fun fact by the end of the Koni Omega production it was built by Mamiya too.

This mic set is fantastic. I recently purchased them for £75 British pounds from Amazon. I just used them for audio with a wedding video shoot with one transmitter and the reciever placed on my main camera and the other transmitter clipped to the microphone of the wedding officiator and am well impressed with the unedited audio quality 👌👍

Love this camera so much. Scared the absolute crap out of me the other day when something rattled inside it and the viewfinder went black - it turned out the mirror had come loose from the shutter, and was just chilling in there, unlike me completely freaking out - but this is a known and documented issue, to which the solution was simply (but very carefully) superglueing it back in place. Thinking about it now, not only is it an early digital camera to start with but also it was my grandad's before mine, who bought it new, used it heavily (like professional heavily) for maybe 15 years, followed by another 3 or 4 in my possession... I'd really taken this absolute beast for granted! So thank you 5D, and thanks for making this video :)

I just snagged one and I was surprised at how awful the ergonomics of this camera are. Nothing feels natural. My Nikon d200 from the same year smokes this camera in everything except that it’s apsc. The 5d feels like a joke next to that camera.

Ironically this lens is perfect for these modern super sharp sensors if you want a softer film look to your footage.

Thanks for the trip down memory lane. Right when this stuff was new I was in art school learning to use it. Those quicksilver macs looked futuristic back then, through the mirror door that came later was quite a bit more powerful. The software was even more basic though... CS3 didn't come out till 2007 or so? Pretty sure it was the time period of Aftereffects 4.

Hey, I have one of those. $7 at Savers Thrift. It was hanging on the electronics wall in a little plastic bag and I swear I spotted it 20 yards away. Good Times!! (I need the hood) I just checked, actually it's the 24mm 3.5. The bummer is it doesn't seem to work with Canon DSLRs. I think the mirror would wack it.

It's a fair evaluation & characterisation. I've been accompanying Nikkor lenses since 1971 and temporally limited owned most of the MF 1.4/50's lens generations. Correctly used: aperture wide open in dim light, strongly dimmed in sunlight, all of these not really perfect lens designs in relation to modern constructions are nervertheless pleasing with their more artistic flair. And with a half format digicam you'll get very convenient and affordable access to a lightweight, fast portrait telephoto lens. That's worth such a purchase today. @philosimot

I would seem to be all alone in pronouncing it Nih Kon. So not Neye Kon or Nee Kon. Just like how you would pronounce Nip. I see no reason by its English rules to say Neye Kon. That usually happens if the consonant is follow be the letter "e". So bit becomes bite because of the "e". Compare file and fill. If only it was spelt "Nykon" it would be much simpler. No doubt I will continue to say NihKon as I have been saying it that way for 50 years.
