Great recipe! I'm using something similar for dark steel.
I've recently begun to shade with Coelia greenshade and Druchii violet (on separate models). Gives armor some interesting tint. I don't own contrast paints, so can't tell if they are as useful for that.

So for the scrag brown and the fire dragon bright it could be worth it to go for cheaper non model paints as I know a lot of the apple barrel colors for instance dry very chalky when you thin them down enough which could work very well for the rust highlights.

could i replace the first mix with just iron warriors paints from citadel? or maybe i could use dark gunmetal from the vallejo game color range

What type of paint do you use, I want to start painting models and just wanted to get an expert opinion.

I mainly use Games Workshops paint, to be honest there are lots of ranges out there so go for what’s best for your budget and availability, I use GW because I like them and they are easy to get

Could you list the paints used?
