I PURCHASE OUR FIRST VEHICLE FROM AUCTION...!

In this video me and Lauren take a big leap and purchase our first vehicle from auction! We've been attending auctions regally for over a year now and we decided to purchase a car to complete the North Coast 500 in. We liked the look of estate cars because we could sleep in the back of them and save money on hotels. It was only when Lauren looked around this VW T4 that we both realised it would make the perfect NC500 vehicle!
I signed up and got a bidding card at WB & Sons in Newcastle, one thing led to another and I had just placed the winning bid on this Volkswagen T4. We then nervously embarked on the 250 mile trip back down south and the auction purchase didn't let us down.
Overall the T4 is in fair condition, with over 200,000 miles it's never going to be a show queen but we both believe with some tlc and money spent in the right places, we can turn this into our dream camper!
We have already been in contact with a few company regarding some exiting collaborations, I hope you all enjoy watching us transform this T4!

If you go-ahead with plans on doing the NC500 I'd highly recommended doing it out of season, it's pretty commercial now but not as much out of season as the colder weather comes in, also! when it's colder you avoid the midges, I'm from Scotland and everyone always forgets the midges, in warmer weather they can drive you insane!!!!!

Wheels look like land rover rims, you'll know when you take the wheels off and see an adapter plate.
Mitch, take the front wings off as they usually gather crap from the scuttle drain holes. There's a mod that involves a hose to drain the water straight out the bottom of the wing.
The 2.4 is very easy to turbo 😉

Cant beat an old school V Dub diesel ,bodies rotted and the engines kept on going with the right oil and coolant ..

Yes I will get the radio working or just buy a new one! The T4’s do hold their value well 👍🏻
A great choice there Lauren, loving the colour and in my opinion (I'm 53 mind) it has the best engine, a good all round plodder with no worries about turbos etc. I've driven my mate's 2.4 high top professional conversion camper and that goes more than well enough, does motorway speeds no problem and he's been all over in it such as the Lakes and it does hills no worries.

Really going to enjoy following this series guys! Just a tip though leaving your foot resting on your clutch pedal can fuck your release bearing in your clutch! The van looks like a keeper mate!

I have a T4 bud and me and my partner did the NC500 September 23 and loved it. Van was faultless. You’ll love it if you haven’t been already 😄

@@Mk2Mitch good to hear mate, every video you upload I keep hoping it’s escort content but loving the auction stuff you are doing so all good, I know that feeling with my Sierra and escort, watched a video the other week and the lad used a multitool with a scraper blade in and made it look so easy, I used a wire knot wheel when I did mine.

Rear engine water cooled engines were built. I had a 1986 from 1989 to 2006..This was a campervan of course. The turbo diesel engine wore out at 100,000 miles and the replacement VEGE lasted about 75,000. I gave it up then the and sold it. Your vehicle is very old now and you will have a lot of work to do but you are young and keen and I wish you well. I had a high roof fitted which was a great advantage. Sheldon in those days

Mitch, You will never loose any money on that price, you bought the best of the Transporters the T4 Caravelle with the 2.4 Diesel Engine, Mileage is just average for the age, If you Give it a good Buffing will look much better.

03:30 , in the 90's, i had the joy of changing an exhaust manifold on a t3 pickup, this had a diesel lump under the floor at the back, nasty job, probably been easier dropping the engine out, but that was a rear engine water cooled lump... [audi?]

Your both going to have some good times in the VW when you have got it the way you want it. As for the NC500, i have done that, make sure you have time as the scenery is stunning and the other decision is which way are you going to do it, clockwise or anti-clockwise. I went anti-clockwise from Inverness as the left hand side is the more scenic drive on the way back down 😁

It's a great buy for the money with the welding done. The t4 are bad around the front suspension area and rear arches so you hit lucky kinda jealous

Club 8's were special editions. I had one the same colour (Caribbean Teal). They had painted bumpers, alloys, electric windows etc. They were available in green, white or yellow as far as I remember (been a while since I had mine).

T3 is the first combination that is water cooled that has the motor in the back
That’s why I said the T4 is the first front mounted, water cooled engine 👍🏻 Before the T4 there wasn’t any front mounted water cooled engines.

I owned one just the same as yours except mine had been for carrying wheel chairs with a mid mounted lift and I loved it.
I know have a autosleeper motorhome on a 2.5 turbocharged t4. The 5 cylinder makes them sound really good.

Hi mitch been watching your channel for a while, always been in to classic fords all my life but last year I sold my sierra cosworth estate F20YBT and ordered a brand new t6.1 volkswagan transporter swamper 204 dsg highline lwb kombi camper from van haven. In just over a year I have covered 20,000 miles .and in that time I have been to Scotland twice Wales, France Belgium, the Netherlands and Germany twice. 3 weekend's of every month we are away with the van . Really looking forward to seeing what adventures you both get up you in your new t4 🤟

Thank you pal! Unfortunately they aren’t the same and the fabric from the seats at the rear is all joined together so unfortunately we can’t repair the front seat using that material!

Unfortunately it was a spur of the moment decision, next time we buy from auction we will record us walking around the vehicle and the whole auction process! Yes Lauren enjoyed driving the little Mk4 fiesta van 😎

Should of Brought a MK1 Vito Mitch, the T4 and Mk1 Vito are made on the same Chassis. The Vito has Gearstick on the Dash like Modern Vans rather than on the floor like the T4. The Mercedes Has a better Engine and Gearbox Being the OM611 Engine, Getrag Gearbox. the Mercedes is good for a Million Miles Mitch.
