@BrooneyH2V All tires squeal at their limits and it's supposed to push the front end like that. You let off the accelerator to stop the front-end from pushing. A lot of the Police Interceptor Crown Vis also have limited-slip rear differentials to keep the inside rear tire from lighting up when accelerating out of a turn, thus aiding in controlling the rear end from breaking lose. That just causes one to lose speed and control, which is contrary to what they're trying to achieve.
Yes, plus the engine cooling system is also upgraded, they can maintain 120 MPH for a couple of hours if they had to. Their advantage in pursuit is that those cars can endure longer than the average car.
Continued:- gentle or positive out look. We need them as much as at bad time we get mad at them only cause we made a mistake and get caught. When we should really be thankful they called us on it wouldn't any true friend tell you how it is then for you to look a fool. Thanks officers for being my friend.
I can't say I've seen one do a J-turn, but I have seen an officer that literally drifted through an intersection chasing a guy. I had a front row seat as I was the first person at the light. And I live in NC.
Sadly, this happens everywhere - RPD is not immune. It was particularly bad in Miami when I was growing up. I have seen it very little here in the 10+ years we have lived here.
This isn't the training - this is just one maneuver. They train for weeks with hundreds of maneuvers. It's impossible to judge one against the other based on this video.
@pearldrumsarecool i dont think they will order the option twin turbo maybe for spécial pursuit unit whit the awd.turbo will be too hard on the engine and on the repair fleet budget but i hope im wrong cause i love the look of the 'new look of the police interceptor it look like the Fvp F6
Ok, I make it easier. Immunity is when an officer acts with in the scope of his/her employment. Code 3 means 10 to 15 MPH over the posted speed limit, not 30 or 40 MPH.
If he had the MIGHTY CAPRICE LT-1, he would have hard time controlling the car.The main reason is more power and torque than the crown vic. As you see, every time he turns and accelerate, he does not lose control. As with the CAPRICE, he would be all over the track spining widely. The CAPRICE is 260 horespower with 330 foot pound of torque. Now you know why he has control of the crown vic which has only 210 to 250 horespower depending on the year.
@montg2perfection yeah but would be strange if the police in the US uses european cars; would be like we use a crown vic ^^ I Think the police services first takes car that are produced in their own country (or area): Like Bavarian State Police using mostly BMW 3 and 5 series and some Volkswagen Touran and T5, The German Federal Police again uses mostly Mercedes and so on
@noskid7 The Chargers are not as good as the vics. Suspension components are wearing out fast, drivetrain is not service duty, its civilian duty The interior is modified for a fully suited cop, where as Chevy's new Caprice is designed around the occupant. Check it out its pretty nasty But the Charger is not good, especially the city police. Highway patrol with the 5.7 are quick though
Over all impressive but rutein practice makes on better. Having yearly or seasonal public police rodeo show would be a great way for the public to enjoy a show and to allow the officers to stay on top of there game in refreshment courses and have a little fun from there already stressful job. Finding a way to let the public interact would be amazing too. Letting them see a softer side of a officers position. Cops arnt bad people just often Mis perceived or not publicly shown to have a gentle or
@SeriallySpeaking although you are right about the cop cars being waaaaaay to big and not turning very well i didnt get the stick shift remark its not that hard to drive stick you hit your gear before you hit your turn you have to slow down before you are there not while you are turning that will never work so you realy shuould only be shifting and turning a small pecent of the time and even if you do it regularly its still not that hard
@noskid7 What you want them to use? Civics? LOL This car is the most stable platform since the Caprice Its a big heavy powerfull boat meant to go fast and survive a few rounds of bumper cars for when crazy felon decides hes not going to stop right away So yeah, what would be an appropriate vehicle for police to use? OH btw have you ever driven one of these?
@montg2perfection Because those cars are really expensive here, especially when you consider how many the police departments would have to buy. Plus there's the matter of the need to stimulate the local economy by buying domestic cars. And something just seems off about having American police driving non-American cars.
I'm willing to bet the uploader hasn't been here in a while as I see no comments from him/her. Yeah clearly this car is a ford crown vic, not a caprice and before anyone asks me "well how do you know" let me just get this out of the way. I own one. I would advise the uploader to change the title of the video but I'm sure a lot of others have as well and nearly ten years later, it's safe to say the dude's long gone. I just can't help but let my OCD tendencies act up. This actually pisses me off a lot more than I should let it lmao
the sad part is almost everything on the road can out run cop cars on a autox course, that was not impressive, it actually makes running look like a good idea
+Blair Lichtenstein It is a P71, a late 90's to early 00's that is, which still had a pretty floaty ride quality....2003 and up had a better suspension, limiting the body roll.
No wonder they have a hard time trying to catch everyone racing near capital. He needs to put a little more heart into his driving ... I think I see Hoke do a move like this on Driving Miss Daisy.
@chuckanders i dont think the usa will buy bmw for they patrol car.. parts are too uch expensive and they cost will be to expensive for them to change car every 3 years and .in my city they tried the volvo turbo charged in 2000 those car almost all died the first years 1//4 in crash and 3/4 was too expensive to fix turbo failure, dead engine ,Broken transmistion and soo on...they are fast yeah. but still like 04 mickels said notting can out run a radio
Why do they make their police use these awful cars? They should do like we do in England and get BMW, Volvo, perhaps not Vauxhall lol, but seriously they are much faster in persuit situations because they handle well and feel more direct and responsive, as opposed to soft and wallowy. Also a small point(which im sure many in the states dont care about), they are better on fuel. Perhaps they are more expensive, but it shouldn't come down to money when you're trying to protect people.
I believe so, but primarily their own facility shown here.
@BrooneyH2V All tires squeal at their limits and it's supposed to push the front end like that. You let off the accelerator to stop the front-end from pushing. Still see these old P71s driving around. Some still have the blue and white. Pretty cool seeing them still on the road.
the 4.6 sounds so BEAST
Continued:- gentle or positive out look. We need them as much as at bad time we get mad at them only cause we made a mistake and get caught. When we should really be thankful they called us on it wouldn't any true friend tell you how it is then for you to look a fool. Thanks officers for being my friend.
Very good driver and good handling crown victoria. I drive the police crown vic with many upgrade electronics and suspension. Very well done
That was a hell of a J-turn.
I can't say I've seen one do a J-turn, but I have seen an officer that literally drifted through an intersection chasing a guy. I had a front row seat as I was the first person at the light. And I live in NC.
That is clearly a P71 Police Interceptor / Crown Vic. It is not a Chevy Caprice 9C1.
I love that sound a P71 makes when you floor it...
Great example of how the crown vic evolved body roll baby
Reminds me of autoXing the Evo except this thing body rolls like no other!!
I didn't expect a 5000+lb car to handle that well, even with the upgraded suspention.
Well done.
It's 4,057lbs actually
Crown Victoria Police Interceptor sounds mighty good. sounds like a race car.
Raleigh has their own training facility. NCHP has a separate facility. I think they train separately.
@DasMidnightDrifter North Carolina has only blue (Federal Lights) now. EMT and Fire are still red though but all police are all decked out blue..
Yah, I live in Raleigh!
@Lieutenant1001 I've been looking at the E7 for some time now. Everything in it is amazing. It will revolutionize police work.
Apparently the Chevy was broken down again so they used the Ford like they had planned in the first place...
it just goes to show you that even a full size sedan that was NOT designed to be driven like that CAN be driven like that
perfect J-turn
Towards the end was alittle sloppy, could have used the Foot Brake in some of those corners to help throw the weight.
driving? ya mean boat sailing? lol. man i loves me some crown vic
That light bar nobody uses the spinners no more that's probably a 2001 Crown Victoria that police car still sits in downtown Raleigh
that's NOT the P71, the grill is chrome the P71 grill is black with a honeycomb mesh. The wheels would be black with a chrome hub cap.
How the hell did the driver change from reverse to drive so darn quick in that 180 at 1:12?
Has anybody noticed how similar the Caprice looks to the P71?
That thing handles like an office chair. But i love it!
Ok, I make it easier. Immunity is when an officer acts with in the scope of his/her employment. Code 3 means 10 to 15 MPH over the posted speed limit, not 30 or 40 MPH.
is that General Lee?
way cool loved the burnout
#1 safest city in USA, as of 2010.
@bpdexplorer129nc actually no, the fire trucks are the first to respond
If he had the MIGHTY CAPRICE LT-1, he would have hard time controlling the car.The main reason is more power and torque than the crown vic. @bpdexplorer129nc you only have negative 2?
man that would be so awesome
Damn good driving. J-turn BEAUTYFULL.
and maybe a gasstation..... that might be usefull if your doing kickdowns with a V8
Where's the Caprice?? I came here to see a Caprice!
It's amazing vid
Has some understeer. but I have to say looks like an older (99) crown vic. Love those things, what a shame their being put to rest :/
head of the driver training program, yet he can't navigate an autox course layout. Makes sense to me.
best part starts @1:02
@DerrickForLife By hot, he means on fire. Those Chargers burst in the flames.
nice but that is a ford crown victoria police interceptor
Similar to how I treat my rental cars.
eeeee, thats a crown vic! nothing wrong with that though!
That is a crown victoria p71 not a caprice
@montg2perfection yeah but would be strange if the police in the US uses european cars; would be like we use a crown vic ^^

I would to drive a former police car someday to do tricks.
i did this in my sho... i raced a police interceptor and learned i can smoke a cop in handling and accel

Shame he didn't roll some smoke on the front J turn/u turn whatever like in all the old '70 and 80's cop movies and shows.
How can a car that sucks so much be the chosen car for Police? Im not complaining :) Might as well put wheels on a boat.
***** It's because of it's durability and reliability...you can thrash on this car all day and it'll still keep going
Crown Victoria's still is be better and a better choice
@noskid7 What you want them to use? Civics? LOL This car is the most stable platform since the Caprice

title needs changing, that's a Ford Crown Vic...NOT a Chevy Caprice
two of them live down the street from me-.-
damn, this is the head of the driving program? Makes wonder how well id accel in this position. Check out my video's in my 2002 mustang GT.
@montg2perfection Yeah, imagine how much it is to replace them and the parts too everytime you wreck
Newer crown Vic's handle better bigger rims as well.
I'm willing to bet the uploader hasn't been here in a while as I see no comments from him/her. Ikr I worked NOPD before I switched to become a EMT for New Orleans and theirs nothing like the sound of a Crowns Engine
Jesus is just a title of a video settle down.
LMAO I knowwwwww! Gaaahhh, my OCD! It drives me mad!
@brianamarks Yeah, Miami hasn't gotten any better, just to let you know.
the sad part is almost everything on the road can out run cop cars on a autox course, that was not impressive, it actually makes running look like a good idea
I wonder if that's actually a P71... Lots of body roll, and good god that's a lot of understeer... doesn't look as though it's handling very well
+Blair Lichtenstein It is a P71, a late 90's to early 00's that is, which still had a pretty floaty ride quality....2003 and up had a better suspension, limiting the body roll.
aww, I thought they'd have to parallel park at the end there :)
who is that starsky and hutch? good grief that would be awesome to be in that car. he should join the highway patrol...their the best in the state.
@JoshChadwick yea I know . it is painful watching this. The Caprice 94-96 is where it is at. The Clown Slicks are slow
WOW ! THATS COOL !
i got a ticket for doing this same thing
There are no immunities when one deviate from the norm of the day. Badge or no badge, the law of common sense dictates what is immunity.
No wonder they have a hard time trying to catch everyone racing near capital. He needs to put a little more heart into his driving ... I think I see Hoke do a move like this on Driving Miss Daisy.
I'm going 2 BLET in Oct n I really need help w/my driving. Do u know any place I can go 2 get some help
he almost tipped
I have seen containerships turn faster than that :)
Thats a Ford Crown Vic.... not a caprice, theyre fun cars to drive though!
thumbs UP if you love the sound of that engine!!!!!!
i hope they have faster shit than that u could run in a prius
That's a 2002 and down 03 and up have a newer better suspension and more horse power.
i want to see the video of the car before this one that knocked over all the cones! lol
This is worst car for pursuit ever i see but engine sounds perfect.
nice very nice
bet its a stuntman driving
...or how to keep a Ford on the road.
Why do they make their police use these awful cars? all us cars have understeer well most of them so the only thing u can do is hang the back out a lot lol
@SeriallySpeaking Honestly idk haha. I don't remember leaving this comment.
SMH... somebody should learn about car basics... Caprice my ass, Ford Crown Victoria... insulting my GMs with that title lol.
I hate that dude! Not really, but I do wish I could drive like that! 5/5! For plain, out right SKILL!
and this is why you dont buy a police car
Dang I wanna become a cop now lol...
man they really put a good abusing on these cars LOL
understeer...
