What is the reason for replacing this part. Noise concern? My noise is that it thudding vibrations and will gradually get louder. Opened front panel and it does have swaying motion when spinning.

I'm having the same issue. I bought this washer and a dryer used only to discover the belt was broken. I'm thinking the bearing will have to be replaced, which involves taking apart the washer completely. If that's the case, it would be cheaper to just get another used washer. You would replace the drive block because it would make a knocking noise and not agitate or spin. At $6.00 for the part, it's a cheap fix or to rule out the bearing.

You don't have to unplug the washer when replacing the drive block. This is a General Electric top load washer though.

Bruce Alexander We recommend disconnecting power to the washing machine before completing any part replacement.

agreed, mine is stuck on there pretty good, visual inspection shows no sign of cracking or damage so not sure how replacing this will get my washer spinning or agitating again. any luck?
