    Reggie, We live not too far from the airport and I about mistook our 5 yr. old GE top loading washer for a 737 just prior to takeoff. I immediately thought bad bearing - big job. Then I saw this video. I was able to easily displace the tub over far enough to see that one of the rubber straps is broken. I owe you a six pack. Thanks for putting video on RUclips!!!!!

    Great video. My son-in-law overloads the washer ALL the time. Now it’s knocking; told him it was probably off balance. Sure enough; saw your video; went to check it and that’s exactly what it was. Now I’m just gonna order the part and get it done.

    Thank you so much for this video! My son overloaded ours a few days ago while rushing his chores and it was making a really bad metal on metal scrapping after that. He was so worried about how he might make it up to us that he said he wanted to try to fix it. So, he and I used your video and it is fixed! I can't thank you enough.

    Hi Reggie. I replaced the drive belt on my GE washer by tilting it on its side and removing the bottom plate. After I put it back together and stood it up, the spin cycle began with a loud bang and then a lot of other noises. I popped off the front and saw that the tub has 2 tabs bottom center and 2 wings standing up from the base plate. Well, the tub was off kilter and one of the tabs was stuck on top of the wing. By watching your video, I was able to figure it out. Thanks much!

    We figured out how to control the off-load spin-cycle issue much easier: Bought a 2800 lbs 20 foot tow cable from Harbor Freight and wrapped it tightly around BOTH washer and dryer (they are right next to each other). This was our solution: No banging or moving around. Very silent. Couldn't be more happy. In the last 18 months since we did this, only once did it require us to re-position the towells.

    Replaced the rubber bands and the spring stabilizers... Inspecting it before I put it all back together and saw the counterweight beneath the drum was no longer screwed in. Took care of that and the washer is like new. No idea if it was just the counterweight or a combination of everything.

    This is so interesting. I can't wait to try it out. I let my brother do his laundry here, he put double the normal amount & now I can't wash any sheets or towels without a thunderous spin cycle. It takes a few adjustments, but I can usually balance it just by moving stuff around, but it's really annoying.

    Like the video.Just had floors put in the house and they had to pick up or slide my washer to put some flooring in the wash room. Now my washer is out of balance.I washed a medium size load not too much so I know that's not it and I even moved the wet clothes around inside the washer to see if that would help but still way off balance. Is there something that may be off underneath that got out of whack when they moved the washer? It was in spin cycle when I noticed it was not near the wash room during the wash and the washer had slid over a few inches. Thanks

      Depends on the brand. Does the tub look off center when you open the lid? Could have jumped off the springs. Does the machine rock when you put your hands on the frame? If so, you van adjust the legs just my swisting them

    I have a ge top loader, model wjrr4170eww, it was leaking water so I replaced the tub seal and resealed the transmission because the fill plug was missing and the oil was goo. When I put it back together it now won't spin, it tries to and stops, not sure what happened but before, I replaced the capacitor, no help. Any ideas? It agitates fine, I also cleaned out the level tube and I can hear the level switch click when I blow into the tube. I checked the resistance of the lid switch, that was good too, during rinse/spin the motor turns to spin and I can hear it bang then it stops.

    I hope are still on here and can help me with my washer. It's not a GE, but it's a Whirlpool top loader model # WTW4800XQ2. I am hoping that this fix is universal. I have that one and only off balance banging happen during the spin cycle. It usually only happens when I do towels, or blankets, and sometimes jeans.

    • @LeanOnYourRep
      @LeanOnYourRep  2 года назад

      Very common for the design you have. You have to evenly distribute the towels/weight in the tub. Eventually you'll need to replace the tub springs

      @@LeanOnYourRep hah! Funny you say that because I was able to get the a look inside and there is only 2 springs on the right hand side (standing in front of washer) one is in the back and one is in the front. However, it looks like I maybe missing a spring on the left hand side. There looks to me like there are the holes that the spring would attach to and then attach to the rod. I am not sure if there is a spot for a second spring on the left hand side, the bleach tray is in the way if that makes sense? The springs that are there on the right hand side are extremely flimsy feeling so I plan on replacing them. I guess what I'm trying to ask you is this: should there be spring on both sides of the drum or just the right-side?

    I have a kenmore 110.21252110. The technician said I need a new transmission so not worth repairing but he didn’t really look at much in the machine other than the agitator and read the codes. How can I check if I truly need a transmission? I hate to send the machine a landfill. The machine works but I feel the clothes aren’t getting as clean as before. The machine was off balance and wouldn’t spin out the water completely either. But I took care of that by coming to check the clothes and shifting them around a bit and they go thru the spin and drain that way. I got codes F7E7 and F7E6. Thank you, any advice would be appreciated.

    • @LeanOnYourRep

      That's a very common problem with that washer design, sometimes changing the support rods helps for a little while but then it reverts back to doing the same off-balance action. And yes overtime the transmission stem can get bent causing the tub to wobble off balance also. Got to agree with the repair person that came out to looks at it. I usually don't even service those because of that issue.

    I thought it was just the rubber stabilizers making my washer off kilter. The front right had fallen off and front left snapped. But after opening it up and reattaching the right front I'm realizing it must be much more than the rubber stabilizers. The whole barrel is completely tilted to the left and is knocking on the side during the spin cycle. It's so bad that it shakes the whole apartment. I think I just need to break down and get a new washer

    This is super helpful! I think I can buy these Shock Dampening straps from Walmart (Home Depot n Lowe’s dint have it) but My machine weirdly dint have the brackets or screws for it. Would you know where can I buy that from?
