I've got the P229 Legion SAO and love the feel in hand. Slide weight tempers the recoil gained from the higher bore axis and it runs like a dream! Just waiting on my Vedder Lighttuck holster for it to come in!
Use grease instead of oil on the rails- I use Brian Enos Slide Glide Lite, and it takes the slide action from smooth, to SMOOOTH. ;-) makes a big difference! I have both the P226 and P229 Legion. I went DA/SA, then to both added a Gray Guns flat adjustable trigger, Gray Guns custom strut, with 17 or 19 lb mainspring and competition sear spring kit- takes the already great trigger and makes it AMAZING. The single action now is very close to the SAO, and the double action is smooth and with a greatly reduced pull weight. Perfect. Combine that with the fact that the optics ready legions now have the new R2 optics cut underneath the plate, which allow you to mount and RMR/Holosun without plate adaptors, and suddenly these Legions are really a solid buy and not as cringe as they used to be with the “Legion club”. Plus I LOVE the grey/green finish- black is so 2010. . . ;-)
there is a well documented but not widely known problem with 226 SAOs where the hammer strut contacts the safety bar when the slide goes all the way back and over time will loosen or even break the safety bar between the 2 switches. Both GrayGuns and the Sig Armorer have come out with an aftermarket improved hammer strut that solves the issue as well as slightly smoothing trigger pull and allowing the hammer spring to compress more perfectly. It is effective for both DA/SA and SAO p22X models.
How easy is the sig armorer superstrut install on the p226 legion sao? I have heard the safety needs to be disassembled because the superstrut can't clear it?
@@RikkiTikkiTavi290 okay thank you. I just purchased the p226 legion sao and I'm going to upgrade to the sig armorer superstrut immediately. I don't want any issue with the known safety interference with the original strut
Just got. Legion 229 dasa. Ordering a new slide with Romeo 1 pro red dot. Did all new springs from sig guy and flat trigger. It was great out of box. Now it’s perfect.
Rented one last week at the range. Sweet shooter. One thing to watch for. The safeties on that one were loose and I was able to make the hammer drop without the safety being fully down.
If it was a range gun then it will have had many thousands of rounds through it so not entirely surprising it might be beat up. Love it. The SAO system is the best that there is out of the box, and SIG does it right! However, ouch on the slide stop being used as a slide release on a empty chamber. Yikes
It comes with 3 mags, basic case, and you need to register it for the coin and soft range case. The trigger has way too much pre-travel. I will probably change the trigger.
I 100% agree with you they should’ve stick with Sig P226 legion single action variant* I’m more into metal frame guns then polymer the Legion SAO should’ve been the main firearm for the US Army
I prefer the Sig as it fits my hand extremely well. One of the biggest factors is the placement of the the safety. It is in a 1911 position and a great spot for my thumbs. Also I prefer single action. I do carry the 90-two every now and then tho.
@@TheJimminiShow I've never shot the Beretta 92, but the Sig fits me well too. However, I like the look of the Beretta over the Sig. The obvious solution is to own one of each. :)
You carry a 1911. I can see why you did the SAO on the 226. Maybe I should have done the same. When I purchase my 229 DA SA and for someone who really loves 1911. But I couldn't help myself. I had to have it.
Great video even though y Sig 226 SAO RX isn't a Legion but I like it a lot, I do have 3 Sig Legion guns 229, P320 X5 and P320 X Carry are all very nice guns.
Brand new, 300 rounds the barrel is already loosing it black coating. It even came off at the ramp just using a brass brush. You would think with that price point, they would figure out something.
P226 Elite instead for me. That gray... i have a P220 Legion (10mm). I love it, it shoots well, it's heavy and rugged enough that I could cave in a bear skull if I missed all my shots, but that gray is so off putting to me.
Sig guys kill me like Beretta is a piece of crap! Give me a break. I love Sig and I also love my Beretta. It’s not a crime to give a competitor its props!

I bought the same Sig. 4 months ago at Auction, new in box, for $808. I love this Sig. just as much as my many Berettas. Super Pistol. :)

@@ToddKojack Its not the easiest install, there is a fair amount of disassembly involved. Sig Guy here on YT has videos of the breakdown I believe.

Get the Sig Armorer improved hammer strut if you didnt already.
Just got the baby 226, P229SAO and I love it. Slide release is almost impossible to activate without a hammer but that will change just like my P220.

I have the Legion P-238(380) and it's a great gun. I want the P-938 but yeah, expensive..
Right on sig site they have the slide you want my friend. With or without optic

As a Legion owner, what's the point of sending in for the case and coin?
Because it is cool. That is it.

@a.d.c7941 yes. Exactly like that.
Thanks for the video...
Is this video about DWX, or SIG SAUER P226 SAO?
So, you've recently reviewed the Beretta 92X and now this high-feature Sig P226. Which do you prefer and why?

Corse it’s 700 bucks for new slide and optic

Losing the coating on the barrel is 100% normal wear. It's not a big deal.
I find this SAO model VERY interesting.
So you carry this cocked and locked ? 1911 style ?
Why do you not like the beretta or the p320?
I still like em, i just like wkat I like.
why not send it back to Sig to get it optic cut?
Because I dont use Optics on my carry.
This is the oldest version of the 226 Legion with the older gray PVD finish.

The military should have used the G17 over the Beretta 92 back in the day. The G19X should have been chosen over the P320.
