The Legion series is basically an enhanced / upgraded version of Sig's existing P226 and P229 platforms. The P226 and P229 are coated in gray PVD (physical vapor deposition) which is the same as Sig's black Nitron coat.
In this video we detail the features of the P226 and P229 Legion and compare the P226 Legion to two of Sig's most similar pistols, the P226 Stainless Elite and P226 Enhanced Elite.
The Legion has enhancements to the frame including more aggressive front strap checkering along with checkering on the front and underside of the magazine well. The frame also has an X-5 undercut making the reach to the trigger slightly reduced.
The Legion uses a Bruce Gray Grayguns Intermediate Adjustable Trigger which allows for changing the over travel.
The grips are two piece G-10 and have the Legion logo along with a texture that allows for a solid grip but hopefully won't overly aggressive.
The Legion pistols are shipping with Sig's new X-Ray3 sights which allow for better day time visibility than Sig's standard SIGLite night sights. They also have tritium inserts like Sig's other night sights.
Other modifications include modified slide stop / release and decocker levers. The ones on these pistols have a reduced profile compared to the standard Sig P226 / P229 models.
Finally, the Legion pistols include after purchase incentives. You will want to register the pistol with Sig Sauer because they will send you a free custom molded case and challenge coin. You'll also receive inside information about new Legion series releases and you'll qualify to buy other Legion logo gear only offered to Legion members. These include holsters, lights / lasers, knives, and lifestyle apparel.

Excellent video and content.
I love how glock makes its own bb guns and how they make them look so real ruclips.net/user/postUgkxnX9wE_Q8zvF75Y5iWzTU3Q4FlrtyGApQ , the only thing is that the slide doesn't move back. The sights and the body structure is so similar to a real handgun, fits in my hand perfectly but I actually ordered it with the 40 pack of Co2 tanks and they never arrived even though it said that they handed It to me. Was not able to test the accuracy since I didn't get everything I purchased which is frustrating and that's the whole reason why I got the bundle so it arrives together. So the Co2 tank happens to be a third party so it makes no sense to put it in the bundle if it doesn't get shipped at the same time, the BB gun arrived first then the Co2 tanks were supposed to arrive someday later but didn't, which doesn't make sense. I recommend just ordering the gun itself so you don't get the same issue I ran into plus there's no option for a refund. How stupid.
First Class Pistols from Sig, we have learned to expect no less. I believe I will end up with one of each. Been a fan since Mid 80's!
400 rds through my p229 Legion, no issues, and the reset is outstanding.
Awesome! I'm glad Sig did something about the slide release, that's actually a problem I've encountered far too many times when shooting my P226. I seriously hope they start to offer some of these enhancements as upgrades for the regular line of P226's! Wish you had the SAO version to see the reset with the new flat trigger! Great review! Thanks for giving us a first look into the new Legion line!
The P229 is amazing. My favorite gun!!
I was just at the gun shop today looking at several Sig guns. I was initially looking at the 365 but now after this video, I will go back to look at the Legion, THanks for your explanation of the guns.
Osage rocks! First to put up a video of the Legion line and one of the first to have them for sale. Can't wait to receive mine! Thanks Osage!
+mikecntrs Thanks Mike!!
As a glock guy, I've been looking for something different and your video has me wanting the Legion. Great review! I'm going looking tomorrow!
Great video and comparison to models already on the market. I'm a huge fan of Sig products and I think they really nailed it with this updated series of firearms. I just recently started shooting firearms at the range in my late 20s. Shot a wide variety of other manufacturers' guns, but there is something special about having a Sig in the hand - it just felt right when I first shot it. Looking forward to see what other models get the legion treatment.
Great first look. The Legion series looks fantastic. I'm thinking Sig has another winner.
Dude you do the best gun reviews ever. Very impressed with that trigger pull measurement device, thats very professional.
Been looking at the 226 since it came out, stumbled across one on black Friday at my favorite shop, Impulse buy (I'M SO WEAK). Mac and Cheese aint so bad.
Scott X ha ha id eat mac n cheese for the 226 for three months if I had to. What did you pay for it?
Thanks for the comparison. Sig's promo video had me curious, but this answered all my questions. That Legion looks like my next 9mm.
Had several in my local dealer store, went back 3 days later and all the Legions aww gone,
I love that model.
The only thing I wanted to see were the two guns side by side in a height/length comparison....got everything but that.
Me too! I just want to know the difference!
Ditto. Why bring out both if he wasn't going to note the differences? What is the difference between them and the p220??
This isn't a p226 vs p229 video. It's a p226 legion vs stainless vs extreme
Osage needs to update the Legend series. #1 is you do not get a quality case after joining Legion. What you get is a soft junk case that has a pocket for the pistol & elastic bands for magazines. It is not TSA authorized plus the case my P226 came in was a joke. The latches kept falling off when just holding the case. The case definately not TSA quality. I bought my 6th Legion since 2014 & always got a decent case the pistol shipped in. Since I have been a legion member since 2014 I have never received an email from sig on any legion products. My last purchase was 10/06/2020 & this pistol came in the junky case & the case I received after my 2 last legion purchases is the soft case with no cut outs & elastic bands for magazine.
Most detailed video I've found yet on the Legion Series. That p226 is nice.
+Andre Hessami You won the coaster set. Please see the comment at top for instructions on contacting me to obtain it.
+Osage County Guns Thank you very much, that coaster will go well with my 226 combat;).Great video!
+Osage County Guns sent the email!
The email about this new pistol just hit my inbox from Sig and I found your video already up. Somehow I figured Hickok45 would be the first to get one of these but you've pulled off a heck of a coup and got one first. Thanks so much for the info and have just subscribed!
Good video. I was looking to buy the P226 Enhanced Elite but after watching this I'm getting a P226 Legion!
For those wanting the P226 Legion in .40 S&W we have just received a small shipment of them.
Great comparison. Looked at all the other & no one did all 3 versions. Well done!
Excellent video - I am in the process of deciding what type of weapon I want and this video provided very useful information.
I know I'm picking up a legion. It will be interesting to see how the legion accessories are priced given they are limited to legion members. The items are up at the sig store and there are definitely some "lifestyle" items in there which are pretty cool - cigar related, glasses etc. prediction: these will be very popular for sig and the 1911 and MCX legions will follow quickly. At least I hope so :)
Love the P226 Legion. I've been a longtime Sig Sauer fan.
Legion FTW, looks like I know what im getting for xmas this year! Looking forward to seeing the rifle edditions.
Great video, I'm very excited about the p229 Legion. I had been planning to get p229 enhanced elite for myself for my 30th bday at the coming tax season...I think I'm going to up it and go with the LEGION! OORAH!
Erik Wheater is there really a big difference?
Thanks OCG for your comparison review of the Sig Legion with other similar offerings from Sig.
HK really should take notes on the adjustment on the slide catch. I got rid of my VP9 b/c of that problem, locking the slide back inadvertently. I bought this gun yesterday and love it. Over 200 yards down range with multiple ammo, and it has been absolutely flawless.
Of note, the trigger is adjustable with a hex screw on the top of the trigger, so beware of that if you need to adjust.
WRT the price of the gun, it is a great deal! I enhanced my old German model P226 that I bought used, and once I got through, I would have been able to buy one of these with, which has more enhancements than I could have done. This is a great deal just for the gun alone. Don't care too much about the access to the gear, but the gun is nice.
I will be ordering the P226 Legion I soon as I can thanks for the review
Nice video. I was looking at the 9mm scorpion, but now with your commentary, I think I am going with the Legion. Only about $150 more than the Scorpion.
+Darren Wong Agreed! You're getting a lot of bang for your buck!
+Darren Wong I bought the P226 Scorpion in July from Cheaperthandirt.com for $1189.99 shipped. I don't know how practical it is but it's a great gun to add to the collection.
Robert Pearson Hi Robert, I have been looking at the scorpion for about a month now and was ready to pull the trigger and get it, then it was announced that the 9mm Legion was coming out. I really need to handle the Legion. Thanks for you comments.
Thanks so much for the high quality comparison. Your vid assisted in me selecting the right P229 model for me. I look forward to doing more business with Osage County!
Looking forward to a P229 Legion - good specs - let's see how they shoot and how reliable Sig has become. Thanks for the video intro!
1st of all thank you for a thorough video - very informative. 2 years ago I purchased a SIG P226 Extreme for $1200 and it has similar features to the Legion (SRT trigger, frontend rail and slide serrations, nitron finish, unique pattern on the Hogue G10 grips). Its a fantastic gun and the SRT is awesome. I didn't get it for looks, I got it because I wanted an SRT SIG, but didn't want the "enhanced" beavertail and didn't need the short reach for my hands. And ultimately, at the time (post Sandyhook) it was one of the few SIGs that didn't have an enormous leadtime or wasn't constantly sold out.
I question why SIG is going after yet another SKU for their guns because it will confuse a lot of people, but I don't question their marketing machine since I'm sure this will make them a lot of money. I agree that having access to unique items is cool, but will these unique items be priced appropriately or will they be overpriced versions of the same "standard" items by Emerson, Hinderer, Surefire, etc?
I'm not hating on SIG as they make awesome guns, but just want other gun lovers to do a reality check on whether or not this is worth the extra cost of entry regardless of whether or not this is their 1st or 5th SIG.
I have the Legion 226,229, the MK II and the Legion P220. All are outrageously accurate and easy to operate. My advise is to get the model you can afford and slowly build from there. it took me almost 10 years but it made all my other pistols obsolete. They are expensive but you can bet your life on them time after time. If I only had a choice of two handguns to carry I would carry the Legion P226 or the Mk II. The P229 if I wanted 40 cal or 357 sig. You and I will never be able to shoot them out.
Great video! Thanks for the detailed descriptions. Sig gave sparse details on the differences in the Legion pistols.

I can't believe the price point on this gun. Extra mag, $350 trigger job, cool case of unmentionable value, etc. I'll be buying one!
now I'm stuck between legion and the mk25d...... good review
wowsplat I was thinking the same but I think the mk-25 looks better (I’m not a fan of the trigger loop tail back end of the legion), and the Mk-25 was good enough for the seals so it’s good enough for us too.
Take my money!!!! I'm pretty excited about this firearm. Can't wait to get my hands on one to see how it feels!
I would gladly take any one of these fine pieces or work. I'm honestly torn between the 229 Stainless Elite and the 229 Legion. As a few comments have said, a Sig P320 Legion would be sick. This was a great video.
Great vid. I was looking to purchase the now, out of production P226 Dark Elite. I will be looking at this Legion model now instead. Might give me a reason to walk around the gun show for the first time in two years.
229 Legion looks amazing.
The 226 legion is sexy af definitely my next purchase!
Great video, thank you for showing everyone these excellent weapons from Sig Sauer!
i need one of those 229 looks amazing
I hope they make the P320 part of the Legion series as well
This is very helpful and much appreciated. Just a suggestion - maybe change your camera angle to be higher looking down. The angle you used shows very little of the gun (almost head on) and much more of your vest.
damn, as soon as i figure out which Sig will be my next side-arm, they make an even better one!
Awesome video comparison! Just ordered mine, can't wait for it to get here
Thanks for the info!!! I just got my 229 Legion (.40) today... The trigger pull info was very helpful as I do have a 229 Elite and 229 SAS both with trigger jobs from Sig... So I was curious to how they would compare with the Legion... So thank you for that!!! Very informative and I'm looking forward to more of y'all's videos!!!
the difference in the weight between the enhanced elite and the legion is the solid steel guide rod.
Sweet new line and a good review. This marketing scheme is going to cost me plenty. ...and just when I thought I was satisfied with my current kit!
I'm a new pro-sig fan since my 1911 ultra purchase. Gun is like silk and super accurate and soft on the hands compared to my S&W 1911 full size!! I think I'll be swapping a few for Sig's now!! AND American made!!!
Bill McQueen I'll never let my ruger sr1911 go.......that one is going nowhere but my hip.
Another great product by Sig and I wish my department would issue Sigs as our carry firearms!!! I would love to have the P226 Legion in 40SW!!
Good review and thank you for the video! Looking forward to the Legion Series.
Thank you for the review! Good video. Looking forward to the Legion Series by Sig Sauer.
I am thinking the P229 Legion in 9mm is going to be my first Sig Pistol!!!
Chase Gibson me too just waiting the 229 sao legion
I'm really liking that legion gray color
Great Video.. Can't wait to join the Legion club. I want both the 226 & 229. John
That is a great looking gun and really does seem to offer a reasonable value for what you're getting.
Very helpful video. Thinking about getting the P229 Legion. Love SIG's products!
+Kyle Brock You won a keychain. Please see the comment at top for instructions on contacting me to obtain it.
Very informative video look forward to seeing one of the Legion pistols in person
Can't wait to get my hands on a P229 Legion
Inexpensive, simple to set up and it works.
I held one of these guns and had to buy it! it feels and shoots like a custom pistol. I got the p226 SAO.
I had to tune out when you started talking about pricing and the Legion being high value compared to the Stainless Elite. It is not an $1100 savings; Sig doesn't take a stainless elite, perform those operations and sell it as a Legion. They build the Legion as such from scratch and I think are overselling what they are putting out as a high value equation. Don't get me wrong, I thumbed up your video, I love the Legion and SE pistols both and will buy them when I can afford it, I just think their claim of $1100 of value added is bunk.
+ianarno I understand your viewpoint and I do agree. It doesn't cost Sig near that much to build. I think it is close when talking about the cost to modify an existing P226 or P229.
Sweet video! I'm surprised I heard about this new line from you all before sigs marketing team. Definitely going to have to purchase one in the future because I recently bought an m11a1 =*[. Too bad I missed the swag bag!
if only you guys were giving away a legion for christmas, i'd cry from joy and despite being unemployed.d. i'd be driving to see ya
Love the new Legion series! Thanks for the great review!
Solid steel guide rod too ... Instead of the tubular ones. I've never had a guide rod break or bend on me ... But another extra to add to the list.
Was looking at the P229 Combat or Extreme, now will looking real close on this one, love the 229 I have now!!! Get vid!!!!
GREAT Video. Thank you I am going to go back to a Sig from my Glock 30. I miss the 9 vs the 45 and everything I have been reading is that many units, ie FBI, Swat< and Police are going back to 9s. I wish you would have put up the p229 as well so I could see the differance. Thanks Tom
Can't wait to to get mine next week
Great video! I'm definitely putting it on my list of "must have"
sig p229 stainless will be my choice, thank you for the nice review!!
I prefer the 226 However BOTH are Quality Firearms
Sig Sauer really make beautiful gun's. I noticed on the trigger pull from the cocked position that you over pulled the gauge a little which gave a far higher reading on those pull's, I would think that the average reading would be slightly lower. Great video. Living in Ireland I can only own shotgun's & small calibre rifle's.
+Bernard Flood Thanks for the input.
Very nice video...I would say one of the best have have seen thanks for the info. I have 2 SIG's P220 ELITE SS and a P250 ..love my SIG's. I did notice that the 220 have a blued barrel..my has a stainless one. Have a great day.
Great video, thanks for helping me make a tough decision!
I came here purely for the 4k@60fps video quality, fukken dank
Good video. I'm curious why Sig went with a heavier trigger in these. Seems like the Sig Custom Shop 8-8.5 lb trigger would be more in line with the rest of the upgrades. Other than springs to lower the trigger pull, looks like a great gun out of the box.
Great video..I'm really liking the legion! Now...gotta decide P226 or P229 for my first Sig.
I really like my P226 MK25 the legion looks awesome something worth buying.
+Bob West You won a keychain. Please see the comment at top for instructions on contacting me to obtain it.
I'm excited to see the p320 in the legion series
Great video. Very informative. Thanks. I'll be placing an order.
Freaking GREAT Video guy !!!!!!! Great Job !!!!!!!!! Thanks for your time !!!!!!!!
They really look great. Bet they feel great too !
have a 229 and two 1911. love them all
Looking forward to a Legion P320.
+Vvitale99 Must have
+Scott Smith You won a Sig hat. Please see the comment at top for instructions on contacting me to obtain it.
It's out now it's called the X carry lol
The only problem I see is picking which one? I have a 226 Extreme & MK25 Dessert, but only one 229. I'll figure it out eventually.
Outstanding review , looking forward to get one .
Excellent video! Is the undercut of the legion the same as the SSE? They look very similar, thanks!
Good video, and can wait to pick one of these up.
Hi, Mr. what is the best weapon: the 226 or 320? Thanks for sharing videos.
Awesome, next on my list.
The question now is which one? I think I'm leaning toward the P229.
Just purchased a P226 Elite Stainless in 9 mm but it looks like I should have gotten the Legion instead. Regardless I still got a great pistol. Thanks for posting this.
Another top shelf offering from Sig, , saving my milk money.
When is Sig Sauer coming out with a Legion Series California Compliant version?
Love it , l really think this will me my next gun, have a 1911 45 Tac but looking for a 9 mm for main carry. Thanks
