There a huge fixture in American politics and are in the news here constantly for financing this politician or that. I think once you reach a certain level of wealth, you gain access to the ability to buy political influence to favor your businesses. This in turn helps you to generate even more wealth, which is why many of those info graphics about wealth growth increase to exponentially at the end. One policy change at the right time can give any company a massive competitive edge.

The capital made by overpriced monopolies just goes to his bank account, that's how you get Slim.

You can't just be taught to be rich, otherwise almost everyone would know how to. The more people that know the less valuable it becomes. You have to figure it out for yourself. I hate people that complain about the education system expecting it to just carry them into a successful life.

Dave, since you're in the UK I can understand why you might not know who the Koch (pronounced Coke) brothers are. There a huge fixture in American politics and are in the news here constantly for financing this politician or that. I think once you reach a certain level of wealth, you gain access to the ability to buy political influence to favor your businesses. This in turn helps you to generate even more wealth, which is why many of those info graphics about wealth growth increase to exponentially at the end. One policy change at the right time can give any company a massive competitive edge.

haven't watched full video yet, but i'm pretty sure that if they taught in schools how the rich men became rich, they should tell first that those rich men weren't taught in school how to be rich, if there was a trick to it to be taught, it would have no sense since everyone would be rich, and that's something rather utopic
I don't think everyone would be rich since not everyone have the drive and nerves to run the kind of business that net you millions or more... ^^; It could be helpful if basic business and investment classes were taught in schools... but it might just land the young adults in more problems than they already have ^^;

Capitalism does not create poor people. Get that notion out of your head. There have been various governmental philosophies throughout history. They all produced poor people. Poverty is a natural side effect of humanity.
Slim is so rich because the services in telecomunications in which he started, were monopolies at the beginning (they kind of still are) and are really expensive compared to wealthier countries. For example, Telmex is a shitty company, the national phone company, they were the first to introduce ADSL, and sort of the ones that still use it, while other companies have fiber, some places are physically blocked to give access to the competitors. There is no retribution to the community, or anything, sometimes they give donations to private organizations (Teletón) known to be scapegoats to money laundering. The capital made by overpriced monopolies just goes to his bank account, that's how you get Slim.

The cultural influence of european colonialism is overwhelming, with christianity being the leading religion, spanish, french and portuguese all being very much european languages, our primary sources of media are western as well and contribute in shaping our respective worldviews. I don't remember there being a consensus that the west must be racially homogenous to be classed as such, as this wouldn't hold true for neither Canada nor the US for one, and even then racial mixing in latam includes european ancestry from colonial settlers, among other factors like immigration influx from european nations following the fact. Naturally, historical circumstances have made it so that corruption, wealth and class inequality in latinoamerica are rampant, and even though we still have some cultural values of our own at the end of the day the people aren't as widely different as one would like to think.
