Hello to all our ‪@vagabondlife2018‬ subscribers
We are back on the road again, it's summer time and a great time to get back on the road again (now that the weather is better).
We leave home on Boxing Day and make our way to our first destination at Lake Whakamaru Domain.
This is a free campsite provided by the Waikato District council and is a wonderful spot to come and camp right by the lake.
There are toilets and hot showers, all to use for free, they even provide rubbish bins.
After staying one night (and a very peaceful night it was) we headed off again to our next stop over at the Tainui-Wetere Domain at Mokau.
This is a $10 per night (per van) for non powered sites and there are a few powered sites for $15 per night (per van) - which is very reasonable considering the cost of camp sites these days.
They have flushing toilets, fresh drinking water and a dump station.
We stayed 2 nights and both had a wonderful peaceful sleep.
A quick walk to the harbour from the campsite for a cooling dip and the fishing isn't bad either as Darren caught us a nice Trevali and it would have been a good 3kgs (6.6lbs) enough for dinner and some in the freezer for another night.
We next start making our way to New Plymouth but you'll need to stay tuned for the next video and we'll show you what New Plymouth has to offer.

Stayed often at the motel perched on the hill there, coming back from funerals in NP... Special wee place.

Hey there Liz, that's a sad memory of the place 😥, but you are correct it is a pretty awesome spot.

Nice fish that you caught. Did you use your drone to send out your bait or just a standard cast out? The reserve at Whakamaru looks really nice too. Happy New Year

Thanks Sharri no I didn't use the drone this time, I just did a standard cast. Was pretty happy with the catch. Made 1/2 of it into fish Tacos 😋

Hi Debbie & Andrew it's called Trevali and got some good sized fillets off it too.
