- Alien Resurrection on PS1 is actually the basis for every modern day first person shooter. How? Well, you'll have to watch to find out.
We'll also show you the third person beta, which ended up being scrapped with the genre changing to first person instead.

And now it's changed ps1 forever since it had the ability to play backups this whole time lol
I'm 29 now, I must have played through this with my dad when I was 5-6. Good times. Was a big deal when we finally finished it, haha.
On the "It's to hard" comments by many critics, having played this game I always get a headache when I watch most videos of others playing it.
People using the shotgun at a range where it is absolutely not going to be effective. People aiming at the alien's feet instead of their heads. People outright wasting tonnes of ammo shooting at nothing, including one clip of someone trying to hit an alien hanging from the roof with a grenade, missing, and instead of adjusting his aim, fired 4 more grenades at the same angle that he now KNEW would miss.
and the biggest one of all, people NOT CROUCHING when fighting facehuggers. Crouching makes the buggers 500% easier to aim at, and also makes it harder for them to jump on you as a bonus. Just turn of view bobbing so the camera doesn't wobble when you crawl and you can even strafe and shoot accurately.
On that last note, also turn of "stick dead zone" because just like mouse acceleration, that's something that fucks over your aim.
Or, you know, play the game with the mouse peripheral that the PS 1 had and this game supported.
If only they would remaster this classic.
A remake could be awesome too.
Alien Resurrection is my favorite game in the franchise, only behind Alien Isolation. 👽💀
I'd love a remaster for current generation of consoles. They could work on the controls, to make the gameplay more fun. ✌🏼
This game is one word = Difficult.
Similar to how the original Quake helped set the WASD and mouse look on PC.
It was amazing to know that this game can unlock ps1 to read copy discs.
I still own this game, is great! My second favorite Alien game (alien isolation first) .
Totally agree with you. If only they would remaster it.
@@lukas_jay243 that would be a dream come true!
what about avp2 (pc)..? :D
@@na01jsn also a great game! In my top 4 alien game of all time.
@@josephalvarez6298 awesome
Too scare to finish it man!
But I remember it being very intense.
I just realized you only have 2.5k subscribers… bro that is underrated! You are great
3.5k now!
That game scarified me and I wasn't even playing, I just watched my brother playing it lol. But yeah at the time it was new and revolutionary on playstation.
You could also use two analogue sticks playing Goldeneye on the N64. You would need two controllers for this and works pretty well. Goldeneye came out on the N64 in 1997, Alien Resurrection came out on the PS in 2000. Goldeneye had the use of duel analogue controls three years before Alien Resurrection.
Come back guys!
How did you manage to not mention the possibility to play it with the PS1 mouse. That was an experience!
This game is the first that made me jump when the facehugger got you.
Dude, what a phenomenal video. Subbed!
Loved it!
Yes, it was very frustrating but the darkness, plus the limited torch batteries, meant you never noticed the limitations of the PS1’s environments
Instead it would legitimately scare the 💩 out of you when one of those facehuggers squelched
Great review 🎉 Cool game!
I think it sucks we didnt get the 3rd person perspective version. I was looking forward to it at the time it was previewed in gaming magazines.
I still wish it had come out on the Saturn.. I remember the adverts for this on vhs tapes where they list the platforms it would come out on... and it always mentioned Saturn. Shame
Probably tbe original 3rd person perspective version was going to be released on Saturn but they changed it to 1st person. I wish tbe 3rd person version got released.
It’s a shame that critics dumped on this game back in the day
What did happen with Simon and Emily, no more PS memories vids :(
The only downside is that it doesn't have a master cheat like Alien Trilogy.
Alien Resurrection on PS1 is Marty McFly playing Johnny B Goode
As a 7 year old kid it was just a too stressful of an experience
Great game! 😎
Somebody turn on a light, so I can actually see the "amazing" graphics :)
The film was sick, what you on about
It was one of the best PS1 games in my opinion, and it's still one of the scariest games in the entire ALIEN series. The horrifying atmosphere, the jumpscares, the true Survivor Horror FPS feeling, in my eyes still to this day this game is a masterpiece.
Why 4k but no 60fps?
the game is borderline impossible at 60 fps, trust me
Regarding the movie, I watched it recently and honestly it's not as bad as people make it out to be. Sure, Ripley's whole plot and dialogue is kind of cringey, but the rest of the movie is just dumb fun to watch
COME BACK
Actually Medal of Honor for the ps1 changed first person shooters forever because the game came out 1999 a year after saving private ryan, and Aliens resurrection for the PS1 came out in 2000.
I don't think Medal of Honor used dual analog. I might be wrong though.
@@cesarmedina7080 It didn't. At least not the way Alien Resurrection does.
you know you could source the eurogamer article all this information is from :))))
It took the worst Alien movie to make the best Alien game
Do you people not know that Medal of Honor came out before? And already had this control scheme
So true even Steven Spielberg designed the game.
It's just ragebait, ignoring nearly a decade of shooters that came before.
He did say one of the first in the video
Medal of Honor does not have the same control scheme iirc.
@@SonySupporter it does, just not by default.
