This looks awesome. 👽
Where do I buy my own copy of Sock Puppet Sullivan?
You're British and yes I get your biggest audience might be Americans, but how about a little nod to the Brits and mention the price in pounds as well.
I hope Terry is there when they play the game 😸
isnt this guy a diddler?
I had an objective to kill another player. The others cotton on and coordinate to blow me out the airlock and save the crewmember. They play amazingly, kill the queen in a huge climatic battle and all go to sleep... except the player they saved from me. Turns out his objective was kill everyone. They're all helpless and screaming as he sabotages the engines and hops in an escape pod leaving them all to explode. It was a perfect game.
Haha, that's awesome...
Edit: Ugh, now I have to buy it. Also, my wife and kids love cats so I have to buy the $40 Cat Add On... And I'm a completionist so I need to buy the expansion. Oh, the other terrain pack looks cool too!
Huh, I didn't know it was possible for a wallet to cry...
I’m late to the party, but if it helps, you’re not allowed to sabotage the ship when people are asleep. So technically, his victory was false.
I’m still not 100% sure on this ruling, but the people I’ve played with online and in person have said that you can still MANUALLY break the engines using a repair card. You just can’t activate self destruct.
It doesn’t state anywhere in the rules you can’t mess with the engines once someone is in hibernation, but it EXPLICITLY states you cannot activate self destruct once someone is asleep.
@@Xandian I’ll have to reread the rules now. Lol.
@@RandomPerson-nd2ey I hate to be the guy to do this but.....The Aftermath expansions...which you will have to find on ebay or something...Is worth it in my opinion...Adds more characters and an "Epilogue" 5 round game to play after you finish the main game, granted the ship didnt explode.
Ah yes, another edition of "Adam makes me want to play a game I can't afford but looks so dang good!" Jokes aside, love these videos.
For me, it’s another edition of “I already own this game, and I’d love to play it, but my friends aren’t that into board games at the best of times, much less during a pandemic, so why did I buy it again?”. 😅
@@wisquatuk This is also my life. Lol I love board gaming, and really want to buy and get into these more advanced games. Sadly, though, I can't even get my friends to play more general audience level board games, let alone something like Nemesis.
Everyone already owns this game, but with a different skin lmao.
*cough*Tabletopsimulator*cough*
If the crew busts this put on the next Board Game Club, you better believe that it will be a good day for us all.
Coming next week....
"In-tru-da window" made me laugh harder than it should have 😂
I tried to make a "that was dumb" face but couldn't, it tickled me harder than the thought that it was lame
I only understood this joke after reading this comment.
That should say something
After 2 years my best memory of a boardgame session is this game where i gained everyone's trust with my sacrifices through out the game to betray them at the last minute when they all went in to deep sleep with blowing up the ship and escaping in a pod.
The best part? I didn't even need to kill them all i only needed to kill one player but revealing that they all lost at the victory check and seeing their faces was priceless.
If anyone is doubting about this game, don't it's perfect if you get use to the mechanics and find a way to betray everyone 😁
I can relate to this video. Every time I’ve played this, at the end there’s been this amazing story that’s been told that we all find ourselves talking about for hours.
Adam: *talking about how big the box is*
Me: idk doesn't seem that big tbh.
Adam: *lays the box down so you see how deep it is*
Me: Okay then, that's a pretty big box.
I cannot wait for you and the rest of the crew to play this on Board Game Club.
That would be amazing.
"Captain Sock Puppet Sullivan"
This expedition was doomed before it even left the planet.
I love the variety in these Masterpieces videos. From the last video having a simple little game about moving stones without any theme to one of the most heavily thematic games out there with a myriad of components (and I would imagine, heaviest box.)
I would absolutely love it if you're planning to feature this on Board Game Club. (Halloween month fits games with a creepy theme!) A game with a price tag 2-3 times that of similar games is a bit difficult to justify picking up and I imagine you also need a separate building to store the box, akin to Gloomhaven, but it would be a joy to see you all play it!
Man - wouldn’t it be fun to watch a stream where Ridley Scott, James Cameron, David Fincher, and Jean-Pierre Jeunet play this together? ^^
And have the friend who dies from a chestburster be the late John hurt
@@jacobnelson4150 Roleplaying to the max...?
This is clearly got to be a Halloween episode of board game club! Can’t wait to see Chief Engineer Sully Bollocks win the game!
As much as I'd love to see it, I could understand if not, there are so many bits and pieces that conveying it in a RUclips video might be too much of a challenge.
@@samhayden60 I can see Nemesis being a really difficult one to actually make. Still, even if it can't be this one specifically, I'd love to see more traditional board games and fewer deduction/party games on BGC. A lot of what they're doing lately still feels like stuff they could have done over Zoom. It's a waste of that big fancy table and nice new studio.
This, Betrayal and Dead of a winter could all be great this month
@@MikeHughey728 what u mean cosmic encounter and dream crush do real well irl also snakes is a new game so
@@samhayden60 Playing it next week....
So I assume you and the rest of BGC are playing this some time in the future?
Come on Book it, Adam!!
Allow it Bruv, allow it!
Easily one of my favorite games I own. So thematic and fun, even when I play solo (I generally play as two characters if I do go solo). I was two turns from the ship going into Hyperspace, I was at the Evacuation Room A ready to get off the ship, when I realized I forgot to unlock the Pod. Then I had to roll for noise, and suddenly The Queen appeared in the room. Sneak attack murdered me. Such a brilliant ending.
I like explaining noise tokens as the creaks you're hearing from the vents moreso than the noise you're making. It makes more sense mechanism and themeatic-wise. I genuinely don't remember how it explains it in the rulebook, but it avoids people saying, "How'd I make noise in corridor 3 while moving in corridor 2." It wasn't you. You don't know what it was ........See? It's better :p
I think it does make sense, because the more of a rush you are in, the more clatter you make?
I do the same. It's the bumps in the night, not you stomping through the corridors. I mean, if I come into a room through corridor 2 and roll a 4, how do you explain that?
"Captain sock puppet Sullivan" LMAO. That was excellent
Only had chance to play it once, but such a good game. Pulled a Carter Burke and ended up been the lone survivor and winning as the rest of the crew died in a firestorm. Still don’t think they have forgiven me ;)
Why do comedians make such amazing villains?
@@kev_whatev They avoid the stereotypical 'bad guy'-look and can portray more normal (in the outside) villain. Subconciously the viewer also doesn't think them as a threat as they have funny and positive feel for them. One example might be the human villain in 'Predators', it really was a suprise in the end and the actor was excellent in portraying an evil villain.
But this does require the writer and director to actively suppress their funny moments to not take away the illusion.
They know that we’re gonna need vids for all of the ‘masterpieces’…right?
the Cosmic Encounter one was so good I would not be upset if they went back for a second round of it.
We love this game and have so many great stories from past games. Superb overview!
One thing about the noise tokens is it is noise you are hearing, not noise you are making. The noise you hear makes more thematic sense, too and explains why you don't place a token with careful movement. You hear the same things down the same corridor that your mate does.
With careful movement you still place a noise token, you just get to chose what corridor it goes in. Which is great late game when there are noise tokens everywhere and you cant carefully move when the room has all its corridors already full.
@@mechasduo004 Yes of course! 😉
I swear this Mikele is the Ciampa of boardgames. If this happens again we need Adam, Isaac, Brooke, Sully, Blair and Carley
I’ve only played 1 game of nemesis so far, and I somehow managed to win. I fell in love with this game by the end of the match. I won by pure luck. This game does indeed tell phenomenal stories
That story with Isaac is ginormously awesome!!!!!
Probably the video I most agree on Nemesis I've seen. Such an incredible game. It's one I think almost anyone should at least try once. I could go on and on about this game.
Id love to see a video in the expansions as well
What a brilliant presentation, with a lot of references to the movies.
So far, the very very best overview of this game, that I have yet seen on RUclips.
Backed the project on Kickstarter 2019, and still playing it every time I have the chance! A master piece 👌🏻
YES! This is a game the I enjoy playing even if I lose. I like the ramp up of danger. I would personally not play with more than 3 players just in case someone is eliminated early, but still, I love it.
This is the best review I’ve seen of this amazing game. Does a great job of explaining the core concepts and just like the game is dripping with theme. Brilliant!
I don’t know who Terry is but I’d recommend imagining it’s Laurie’s cat
29:26, a jump to hyperspace does not kill the intruders. Only the characters (refer to page 11, End of the Game)
This is my favorite board game of all time. Every month or so we get the gang together and have an absolute blast!
I truly and thoroughly love Nemesis. It is absolutely incredible.
'Aliens', sorry 'Intruders', was the first 18 film I watched at age 10. I had horrific nightmares for 3 nights but boy can I quote it well because I love it so much. Really appreciated the myriad of references Adam.
i feel like the game could have a budget version with less expensive parts to be affordable to people who wouldn’t be able to buy the original one (like me) but still sell the og at the price it’s currently at for the people that know they love the game and want the full experience or smth like that
The definitive review of one of my favourite board games. Thanks for taking the time to make this. Really impressive. Subscribed!
Oh... do Mage Knight please.
this video rocks! you completely sold me on Nemesis
That Isaac story is magnificent!
This review stopped my day for 30 minutes. I loved it.
If I had friends, I’d get this.
I dig that there's a co-op or cut-throat option. Adding to the wishlist(s).
Thank you for a nice and funny video. specially at 14:14 the Intruders voice "HI HOSIT GOIN" Ha ha ha!
Adam always a true class act, committed to the bit wholeheartedly
Congrats!! This the best explained video about many board games, reviews or tutorials, that I've ever watched... Saludos desde México!!!
I Just bougth Dark souls (my first dugeon crawler) could you submmit a video???
I like that Adam is grunting as he lifts the box, even though the game contents are on the table
We need this played in the NRB studio! Just imagine all the bits🤣
You make a good point about KS bloat, that exists in SO. MANY. GAMES. I've fallen for this many times, and I've certainly learned my lesson!
3:52 cripes, the box moving scared me!
I own this, and have immense fun playing it. It is really hit or miss with my friends though. Have not tried the full co-op version yet, which may bring the naysayers on board.
Really hoping the gang plays this soon!
Dark Darker Darkest and Nemesis are very close to equal in my experience. Please consider reviewing this extremely underrated masterpiece.
This guys can make anything look interesting and worth buying. I love this channel.
Not Monopoly. He's not a miracle worker.
Adam, love your reviews no matter what you are doing... this makes me even want to get this more than I really wanted to before.
I ended up picking up Mansion of Madness due to your review.
This game looks so good I bought it without having any friends. no regrets.
I fkng love your channel! You crack me up! 😂
I’ve bought 2 other games based on your masterpieces series (deception and mansions) and I haven’t been disappointed. You’re making me think long and hard about splurging for this game!
This has been on the shelf of my local game store for months, tempting me. And now I have an excuse to give in.
Can you imagine Tom playing a Bishop character 😁
I can imagine *you* getting airlocked for all your Dad Jokes 🤣🤣
@@MultiClassGeek I just saw this 😁😁😁
You guys should play this + can't wait for the sh*t tone of "IN TRU DER WINDOW" puns
I’ve watched and shared this video before but I just won an eBay auction for Nemesis and I’m so bloody excited I’m watching this video again to prepare for it.
The most entertaining person to explain how to play a game.
Intruder window is where I lost it and belly laughed for 5 minutes. 😆
What an epic tale of the legendary Issac! I love this game
Not wanting to sound sychophantic, but I have to say - what an amazing English accent! A real pleasure to listen to your voice.
5:48
“You can trust me.”
*Flips off that same Person*
Captain Sock Puppet Sullivan is Dead?!
NOOOOOOOOOOO!!!
I'd love to see board games club playing this. It seems so freaking fascinating.
This man will make me go broke 😭😭😭. Why are you so good at these videos
OK, very well done on the number of reference lines inserted. Looks like a great game to boot.
It seems like it has actual narrative woven in to it. The player intrigue actually makes sense and is grounded with what is happening on the board, unlike "The Thing: infection at outpost 31" for example. Looks well worth it.
Only 36 seconds in, I had to rewind the intro because I was convinced he said 'This is Plumpy' and I almost flipped my biscuit
My new favourite game, and I'll be playing it for only the second time this weekend. I've spent almost $1000 on board games instead of drugs so, it's a good life 8)
That was awesomely written and produced.
Oh Adam, why the egg at the end? Commitment to a bit is one thing but that was above on beyond. Well done sir.
Alright this was way more funny & entertaining then it had any right to be. The use of quotes in the review - well done Sir!
Man! It would be great to see you guys play this!
playing this tomorrow, super psyched, and looking forward to this being on Board Game Club.
My crew locked me into a room with an alien, my objectives were to kill and get in a pod. So i sabotaged them, they got mad and won't play with me anymore. xD
the first 2 minutes were of me wondering where i've seen you from, eventually it clicked in my head "I'm Adam from What Culture" lol still liked the video great job Adam
I can't believe I haven't found this channel until now! Great review, thank you. I suggest Shadows of Brimstone as a new masterpiece. Ameritrash at its finest!
Adam “Space Hulk is an Alien ripoff”
Angry Warhammer Neckbeards: Reeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee
Many thanks for the review. Much to ponder.
Some of my most favorite moments in board games have come from my plays in Nemesis.
I NEED this. It’s gorgeous. And you have a new subscriber 👍👍 superb video. 👍
Please know that I bought Nemesis just off the gameplay video alone! Just now watched this, and would have gotten it sooner! Thank you!
I played this game back in 2019, as someone had brought their Kickstarter copy in for boardgame night at the LGS. I not only managed to make it off the ship, but managed to make a lucky roll that ensured that my character wasn't infected. The owner of the game was surprised that I had managed to pull that off.
Ok.. At intrudewindow, I had to fuckin throw a comment..
A fantastic review and a truly well made video my man..! To say the least! The mood, the lines, the movie references, the puns, the production level... All at its finest!
You are so funny! Thanks and yea I'm sold on this game, me being a huge Aliens fan
I literally spit my coffee out at your joke on how did the Intruders get into the ship?
Played. Rarely had so much fun.
I had "another player must also survive". Decided to roleplay as "this guy is my best friend". Got severly wounded. As he put me in the cryopod, the queen appeared.....
Of course, rules wise, it didn't happen that way. But thats the way we tell it
Best review of Nemesis so far, and definitely best dressing gown. Subscribed. (where did you get that fine silk?)
My friend got this game for Christmas and I was able to play it, it’s really good
LOL! ``Intruder window!`*dramatic pause*. My dude, best line ever!!! But seriously though, what a great video! I really appreciated it because I`ve been humming and hawing about whether or not I should get myself a copy of the game. See, I had the mindset before watching this vid, that ``if it`s not Aliens, it`s trash!``. Well, since they`ve stopped producing ``Another Glorious Day in the Corps``, I can`t get a copy of that anymore. Your vid has convinced me now that I should get Nemesis instead. Thank you!
This is the best review I’ve ever seen.
The Alien quotes and references in this made me a very happy little nerd. 🙂
This sounds like it'll be a game I'd love to watch people play but hate to play in myself. But that's exactly why I am subscribed to NRB.
Hello Adam, Adam here. Love this video, you got a sub!
5:20 - "I understood that reference!" ;)
Great video. For me the real masterpiece is Rising Sun. I adore that game whole heartedly! :)
Captain! Wow that socks really done well for himself.
I started painted my minis I got with Nemesis.
Can't wait for No Rolls Barred plays Nemesis.
Oh shit so this is where Adam Blampied went.
Missed you man! Nemesis is banger of a boardgame - played it a good few times with mates on Tabletop Simulator, gotta love fucking over your boys and making a mad dash for an escape pod only to be turned into a sock puppet by a hidden "intruder" that you somehow failed to account for.
that egg at the end, death laugh litrally
Adam it's time for you to validate that board purchase, and have the first annual
"no rolls barred christmas crokinole tournement!"
Aaaaahhhhhhhh I was waiting for this so bad.
