I just recently found your videos, since I bought a sentro and I have been following your example and thank you so much for your teachings. You brought a smile to my face and many hats to make lol
What a nice compliment! Thank you , Charlie!
I don't have an addi I just like watching you! Great tutorial all the same as usual.
+Tamie Neal Hahaha! Well, thank you, Tamie!
I did it!!I practiced today making 2 hats ,and I think I finally made something my husband might ware,he liked it
+jacquie Last I love to see you having fun!
FABULOUS, Margaret! Great directions and demonstrations...that looks so easy. I thank you so much. Really strange to hear my name mentioned in a RUclips video. This opens up a world of design options for me. Thanx again! Laura Brown
+BeignetBeans It was such a good idea, Laura, thank YOU and it allowed me to demo the Fair Isle technique without stepping on Kate's toes. (At least I THINK I didn't step on her toes. My stats show I sent her a lot of traffic...) Have fun!
Greetings from Australia ,lovely work .
What a fabulous idea and lovely pattern. Too advanced for me as I still have my "L" plates on lol. Thanks for sharing Margaret. Blessings from Melbourne, Australia ☺🇦🇺❤❤
Hi, Margaret! With your knitting machine, you probably made your hat within the hour. It would probably take me a couple of days by hand! This is the first time I have watched a video using the Addi machine - so interesting! Look forward to more of the same! (And a BIG virtual hug to you too!). Love you lots!!
+Robin Tyler Saunter You know... I have no idea how long it took me. 1) I was filming for the tutorial so there was much fiddling with camera angles, etc. 2) I lose all track of time when I'm involved in something!
I just have to say Miss Margaret, I don't have an Addi machine, but that was fun to watch just the same :) thank you for sharing this!
+Lisa Pully Hahaha! That machine mesmerizes me so I can totally understand!
Anyone else having fun with variegated wool on the addi? I just love all the different patterns you can get. I've pulled out work and re-knitted more than once and got a completely different look. I love my addi.
+Stephanie Fairey Yes! There are very few variegated yarns I like to crochet with but knitting makes them so much better! Have you tried the technique in this video with variegated yarn?? I once did a black/variegated and LOVED how it turned out! (Wait... did I show that in this video? I think I did... I don't remember!)
I tried the fair isle, but my tension was way off. I need to practise. I invented a yarn holder for the method though. Imagine a capital T, with a little loop at each end of the top bar of the T. You feed the yarns through these, and hold the "handle" of the T and you can just spin it with your fingers like you do when using a crochet hook. I just made it with bent wire. I've been choosing accent colours from the colours in the variegated yarn...never thought to use black! Thanks.
I did this with a pretty wool ease thick and quick yarn I've had sitting around for a while. It's a white strand and a colorful strand twisted together. the yarn is super bulky so its too big for the machine, so I split it and did the fairisle with it! its my favorite hat I've made so far.
Put a picture on the Facebook Group, or Ravelry group or Instagram!
finally I get the fair aisle technique! Thanks Margaet
+Audie Siegel Have fun, Audie!
Margaret Olande
What a terrific finished hat, Margaret! Take care and Happy New Year to You and Yours!
+Sylvia Morton Thank you, Sylvia! And Happy 2016 to you, too!
Im gonna try and crank with my foot so i can have both hands free 😂
Thnx for all the great videos. Im waiting for my addi to arrive.
You're joking but I did motorize my Addi at one point! (there's a video in the Addi playlist) but I don't use it anymore because I was worried I may hurt it in the long run! Ha!
I made my first one! It was hard at first then I got the hang of it and wait until you see it. I used purple and white for the pattern.
Wonderful, Lisa!
Maybe this year I will break down and buy the Addi King. That looks like so much FUN!
+EYEAMSHEEEE it is fun my husband, aka santa, lol got me one for christmas
+EYEAMSHEEEE I really do have fun with my little machines! Did you take that old Singer back? Order the NEW Singer, adhere it to the table with Command adhesive like Erin did and make some snake scarves for your niece and nephew! Or some fair isle headbands or something!
This is a great video!! I don't consider myself an intermediate user yet but I'm going to definitely try this.
+albee323 Go for it! It's only yarn!
A great idea for a sports hat for two teams. One set of colors for each side. Cheers!
Margaret could you do a matching scarf on the little Addi please, thank you for making the best videos on RUclips and thank you for sheepishly sharing your amazing knitting : )
+Robert Wilson Awww... sweet compliments, Robert. Thank you! But you don't need me for that! Simply use the "recipe" from the hat. 10 rows main color, 8 rows fair isle, long part for scarf in main color, 8 rows fair isle, 10 rows main color! Finish the ends however you want!
Margaret Olander, thank you,i just made one in the little Addi Express and i might send you a picture, it was fun to make thank you for sheepishly sharing it with me!
Thank you so much for making this video. I am an answer lady fan!
Glad you liked it, Leanne!
After I watched this video on RUclips I decided that I wanted to make a reversible hat. I didn't do the fair isle but created me own pattern in stripes. (I think I created it anyways😄) I used two colors and made one side mostly one color and the other side the other color. It was a lot of color changing but I really liked the way it came out. The finished product was 132 rows. Here is the numbers in rows that I did alternating between the two colors. 11,1,10,2,9,3,8,4,7,5,6,6,5,7,4,8,3,9,2,10,1,11.
If I could put a picture on here I would. Maybe you could try it and see if you like it. I used the colors of my husbands favorite football team. He loved it.
+stephanie fish I did a lot of these when I was using up my scraps and am about to do it again for this year's 2016 Goal! I tend to do one side with stripe patterns and the other solid but the concept is the same. Are you on the Addi King Loomers and Knits Facebook group? Post a pic there or send me one on Ravelry, Instagram or Twitter! Have you ever tried the Random Stripe Generator? Google it!
Great video Margaret!! I so much love your videos!!
+Bonnie Visser Thank you, Bonnie! I was pleased with the lighting and camera angle of this one!
I just got my addi today,.. and I mase brimmed hat in 20mins. So fun!
+odessajay021621 It IS fun, isn't it?? Bust through that scraps stash, too! It's fun to combine colors!
+Margaret Olander (Sheepishly Sharing)
I got problem now ,seems like the needles got stock and it doesn't move any more..how can I fix it?
Thank you Margaret.
Very nicely done, I am still learning how too use my addi , I am happy if my hat or scarf turns out without a dropped stitch! maybe in time I give this a try, ;)
+Sheri Carde You'll be doing this in no time!
Awesome video! I know this was filmed in 2016, but you show a picture of a black hat with rainbow fair isle. Do you have any idea what brand and color name that rainbow yarn was/is?
Hmmm... I think that may have been Red Heart Super Saver Blacklight. I probably tell you in this video: Cast Off Monday 2014 1 28 #59 ‘cause I see it in the thumbnail. (I’m not where I can listen to it right now!)
Hi Margaret, when you do your maintenance on your Addi machine, could you do a video as you clean it? I would like to clean mine but I'm afraid to. I trust you and would like to follow you as you do this. Thank you so very much.
+Alicia Bell Well, I did it to day and I did get some footage but I have to tell you that I really had no idea what I was doing. (I've never cleaned it before.... ever!) It feels better (I thought it felt fine before this but it's really nice now) but it's still squeaking a bit. I'm going to post it and see if others who know more about it can tell me how to do better next time.
That's so cool ms margaret.
+cedie aqui Thank you, Rose! You've been making some cool things lately, too, like your cell phone holder! So cute!
Thank you!! I am going to give this a try. Nice colors. Do you have scarf videos from beginning to end? Thank you for your time.
+LemireCassie Here's a playlist of all my Addi videos: ruclips.net/p/PLV9cndFtR5BVQrjZ7X1f0HRTV92kscJf2
What a beautiful hat. Thank you so much, Margaret, for your response about the hood. I have another question after having made my first reversible hat. If I want to have a flatter top instead of a gathered one, can I divide the stitches into four groups of eleven and then using waste yarn cast them off, then put back one set and decrease the stitches at each end to form a triangle, then do the same after picking up a second set, and then a third and fourth and then stitch the edges of the triangles together to form a flat square on the top of the hat?
Thanks again Margaret for your wonderful and inspiring videos about the Addi.
Anything is an option! It's probably more common to cast off with waste yarn, pick up the stitches with needles and decrease just as you would with any knitted hat.
Do you have any tips for making narrow stripes in a hat? When I knit by hand I can carry the yarn up the inside. How would I do it on an Addi? TIA!
I’ve plopped the Yarn A skein in the center while knitting with Yarn B, then repeated the process throughout. (You’ll have to twist the strands at the beginning of the row just as you would with regular knitting.)
Thank you for showing how to do the hat
You're more than welcome!
Wow that is clever, thank you 🧡🌞
You're so welcome! Pretty simple but big impact!
now theres a new thing for me to try!thanks for sharing,i nwill let ya know fer sure how I did
+jacquie Last Great! Have fun!
Great idea
Glad you think so!
Happy New Year 2018 from Scotland. Thanks for posting your excellent videos, I can't wait to try some of the techniques. Now I also understand how you can use these circular knitting machines to include your own multicolour text/graphic designs.. - "if you're interested" LOL.
It's a fun little machine. It's not as versatile as a flat bed knitting machine but it's practical and has less of a learning curve.
I have a Sentro 48 do I follow the directions exactly thanks
Yes!
@@margaret.olander one more question do I do the two of the same color at the end since mines is a 48 and yours is a 46 hope that's not dumb
appreciate the video great camera view. I'm ready to roll out now.
+MsSimpie Great! Have fun!
Thank yooou you are the best 😘😘😘
Ha! Not the best but an eager helper! Glad you could use this tutorial!
I've gotten into learning about these circular knitter machines ,so when you mentioned 'I've got to maintain this' do you also get this from the answerlady ? because I've really wanted to purchase one of these knitting machines prefer the one made or obtained in New York. is there complaints about this company?
Sounds like you're new to circular knitting machings, Julie, so the best place to start is with this video:ruclips.net/video/Tq-67wstWoQ/видео.html Be sure to check the description box for other helpful links. I'm sorry but I don't know what you're referring to about "machines made or obtained in New York." Links to where I purchased mine are here: sheepishlysharing.com/circular-knitting-machines-useful-links-like-the-addi-express/
Are these hats crochet or knitted?
thanks that hat is so cute & cool
Margaret, I've found another yarn that "works" with the addi. It's called "Little Purler", and it's made for a chain store in Australia called Cheap As Chips. It's got a sheep on the ball band that reminds me of you! It's a very soft 100% acrylic, and feeds fairly well if you keep a little tension on it. If you don't have Cheap as Chips in the US, try their website cheapaschips.com
Fun! Thank you, Stephanie!
For a five yr old how many pins would u use
Ummm... that’s not how sizing works! Here’s a video that will help you learn more about these machines including a segment on sizing: Addi Express FAQs, Tips, Explanations! ruclips.net/video/Tq-67wstWoQ/видео.html
This is my first time seeing this machine, what is the name of it
Hi, Carol! Let me introduce you to circular machine knitting: ruclips.net/video/Tq-67wstWoQ/видео.html
that is cool i need to try that on my new innovation loom machine
+heather wilson From what I understand, all Addi techniques work just as well on the Innovations but I'd be interested to hear if you have any unique issues if you give this a go!
Ok
Thank you !
You're very welcome!
Margret, I was wondering if you thought it is worth I to buy the Addis that they now have on eBay with a one year warranty I had my first one for 6 months and started using it and the handle came off and I never got any help with it from Addi?
Hmmm... that's a good question. Consumer money people usually tell you NOT to buy extended warranties. (Google "Why not to buy extended warranty" to learn why.) I've had my Addi machine for years now with no problems. Try contacting Anne-Marie Stehle stehle@selter.com who is the Addi representative who joined the Addi King Loomers and Knits Facebook group and shared her email there. She has been a big help to lots of people.
ok
what's the machine name ?
Addi Express Kingsize but before you purchase one, be sure to watch this video: Addi Express FAQs, Tips, Explanations! ruclips.net/video/Tq-67wstWoQ/видео.html and if interested in other tutorials and reviews: Addi Playlist: ruclips.net/p/PLV9cndFtR5BVQrjZ7X1f0HRTV92kscJf2
Ciao ho un problema ho comprato la addi ma non riesco a trovare lo spessore giusto di lana . Il cappello in testa sembra sempre un effetto rete ...aiutami
It's designed for #4 worsted weight wool. It sounds like you're using yarn that is too thin.
