You know what I liked about the Deadpool Marketing? It gave us almost absolutely NOTHING to put together to fidn the actuall plotof this movie. What I mean, you're going to walk into this knowing the characters and mood, but no idea what it's going to be about.

Fox doesn't deserve any forgiveness (yet). They only green lighted this because of fan reaction to a leaked test footage when before they kept saying no to Ryan Reynolds who kept pushing for a faithful Deadpool. So don't thank Fox, thank Ryan Reynolds, Tim Miller, and all the others who worked on this movie that actually love the source material and chose to wear it like a medal in this movie.

Gundamn Mechahunter A movie that's hell-bent on proving it's different by satirizing cliched super hero films, is quite ironic when it continues to be an entirely Marvel movie beat by beat - only with crude humor thrown in. And yeah right, Ajax was a snooze fest, we learn nothing about him, nor the girl, they aren't fleshed out at all and are just thrown in there randomly like Colossus and that other chick - your fanboyism is getting in the way.
Gundamn Mechahunter I understand that it's a cliche movie that makes fun of itself - my point was, if they are smart enough to satirize the exact kind of movie IT IS BEING, they had the potential to be entirely unique to try something risky - Deadpool deserves that, as he's a complex character himself in the comics, the story is entirely basic and boring and follows such a typical Hollywood formula, and for all the glorious dialogue and references that brilliantly pokes fun of that, it's a shame that it succumbs to that very criticism - why not be different and try something new? It had the capacity to do so, being an R film, and i'd be led to believe the only reason people love the film is because they are lost in the gory/crude humorous R element - which is fine, I *like* the film as well for that, but some are making it out to be a masterpiece, which it is not - the entire origin story was was lengthy and dragged, and DP doesn't have an intricate origin story, so it was unnecessary, also Colossus and the other girl were random and irrelevant, just a ploy for future films - it should've been a stand-alone DP film.
All i'm saying is, for as creative as the dialogue was for DP's character, that should've spilled on over to the movies plot, but it didn't. Like, what's the psychological motivation to break the 4th wall if it doesn't tie into anything at the end? It's randomly thrown in there - if DP is blatantly trying to tell us we're watching a film, why is everything else being taken so seriously with the enemies and the girl? It just becomes a mess.
Dude, when my girlfriend saw the trailer she turned to me and demanded we see it, and we did. Just got back, 10/10.

I've never seen a film that's gotten an "Awesometacular" from Jeremy and an "A+" from Stuckmann that's gotten such mixed reviews from mainstream critics. Not that it matters, but it's interesting.
Because mainstream critics these days are fucking sellouts and cashwhores. The only good one was Ebert, and we lost him.

Actually you're completely wrong. It has an 84% on Rotten Tomatoes. That's not mixed. It has very positive reviews from critics too.
inFINNite BTF I'm not "completely" wrong. Lol. Why are you being aggressive. Percentages on rotten tomatoes are misleading. Look at webistes like metacritic which actually measure the weighted average of how positive the critics' individual reviews were about the film. A movie can have an 100 on RT even if all of the critics just think it's okay and gave it a 3 out of 5. As long as it counts as more fresh than rotten, the review goes down as fresh and it raises the score. It has like a 65 on metacritic, which is not that far above "generally mixed". On RT, if you look at "Average Rating" it's only a 7.1, which is much different than an 84%. Yes, it's gotten fairly positive reviews, but compared to other films that have gotten utter raves from Jeremy and Chris, it's had a pretty mixed reaction.
Did anyone else notice when Colossus handed Mega Sonic Teenage Warhead the candy bar it was upside down as to not show the label? Loved that shit, fuck you product placement.

The reason why the Deadpool movie is good is because Fox didn't have any involvement in making it, they just said "Hey Ryan, go make your movie" and so Ryan Reynolds made his Deadpool movie.
If Fox had a hand in Deadpool, it would have been pg-13 and they would have sewn his mouth shut again since they fuck everyone of their characters up beside Wolverine, Professor X and Magneto.

I just saw it this morning. It is a Deadpool-worthy movie! And I was blown away by the action, humor, pop-culture references and the acting. Reynolds was amazing as the character! Must have been one party to film that movie!

You're definitely right Jeremy. Not only did this movie prove that comic book adaptations can push for an R rating, but another thing I noticed was that Deadpool is one of the few anti-heroes who isn't dark and broody. He's light and flamboyant.

Don't trust it if you're not American. 90% of the jokes are American pop culture references and simply not funny even a little of you're not already susceptible to that kind of thing. The only stuff that actually made me laugh out loud was the universally funny slapstick stuff and some of the 4th wall breaks. The action is also no way near as good as Jeremy makes it out to be. I'd say Deadpool is to comic book movies what kingsman is to spy movies only wayyyyy worse in every way. Good time no alcohol required of you're not American.

This was a lot better than I thought it would be mainly because I did expect them to play it safe in terms of gore and content. The biggest problem I had was with some of the flashback stuff they did a flashback of a flashback.
Why did I feel like I had seen 90% of deadpool already? When o watched it, I swear I felt like I had scene a little bit of every scene.

#Deadpool was really good! However, I thought it would be MUCH better, than I was hoping. Maybe I was just too anxious to see this & went there with my hopes and expectations to be really high. Oh well! Still a good film. But I do expect the sequel to be a lot better! Let's only hope!
+The God Send I feel ya. Two things different a. DP has a "smokers" voice in the X-Force / New Mutants comics. Even characters said he sounded like Fredy Krugar. (RR is good though :) ). b. I wanted to see DP argue with the "Narrator Voice" like he does in the comics. I like how the DP video game depicted his voices in his head. Hope in next installment. Other than that, movie was mostly spot on, given it's limited budget.
Can I just say I love that I saw this movie last night, worked this morning, got home and thought, "I wonder what Jeremy thought about DeadPool?" I just assumed you would have a video by now and I was right! You sir, are good at what you do.

I'm probably going to get a lot of hate for this.....but I just thought the movie was just okay. It wasn't bad by any means. It had great action, it was really funny and it clearly didn't give a @#$% if it offended someone. That being said though, I felt it dragged a bit. There was way to much focus on Deadpools origins. Yeah, I know the general movie goer doesn't know Deadpool's back story but it's not really that interesting and could have been covered in a very short time frame. Guardians of the Galaxy only barely touched on the backstories of it's characters and that worked just fine so I don't know why they spent so much time on Deadpool's. There where also a couple of jokes that came off as really flat and unfunny. What bothered me the most was how I didn't really see Deadpool half the time. I just saw Ryan Reynolds playing the character. He didn't spend enough time in the suit and his make up was pathetic. Seriously, Deadpool is suppose to look like a walking tumor, not someone with a really bad burn and it makes the moments where people are reacting to his face kind of disturbing. Seriously, he didn't look that bad. It wasn't like he was horribly disfigured like say Darkman. I'm not saying he was a bad choice and truth be told he didn't do a bad job he just didn't get lost in the role like Ron Perlman as Hellboy, Micky Rourke as Marv, Karl Urban as Judge Dredd or hell, nearly all the actors in the MCU. Again, I didn't hate the movie and I know I am in the minority on this but I view it as more of a 6/10 movie. It's Slightly Above Average. Glad I saw, probably won't see it again.

Late to the party I know, but yeah, I kinda didn't like it either, the constant switch between bridge and flashbacks was frustrating and made me kinda angry and I swear most of the movie was just Wade Renolds goofing off until the climax

loved this movie! Not to sure why some parents got upset though, they could have waited a few days or a week then looked at the reviews and learned who dead pool is. The trailers gave away what the movie was like and not to mention it's rated R. Some people just dont like the crude comedy,sexual content and nature of dead pool which i understand and is totally cool, but dont get upset at the movie for portraying a spot on version of dead pool. He even says this isn't a superhero movie! lol

I've just seen Deadpool and I enjoyed the shit out of it, that movie did it's job like I hoped it would and I would see it again and again. Fox did this movie and character justice, looking forward to sequels, I highly recommend people who like action, with some trash talk, deadpool humor, lots of violence and a good story.

The movie was great, but damn. People blowin their socks for it like its a masterpiece. I'm not hating it was good like all Marvel movies. I feel people just love it for the rated R-ness of it. It had more flexibility since he could break the 4th wall and curse and show nudity as much as he wanted. Other than that, it was a regular good superhero movie.

NO, we don't, Deadpool needed an R, and it got it, which is fine, but we do not need a bunch of R rated superhero movies. Suicide Squad, for instance, I feel that can be perfectly fine with a PG-13 rating, same with any other Marvel hero (maybe, and I mean MAYBE with the exception of Dr. Strange). We all know that if Deadpool got a PG-13 rating, it would have been a complete disaster, but if any other super-hero movie can get a PG-13 and still kick ass, then it should just stick with the PG-13.
I just hope that in the sequel, he runs into/seeks out Hugh Jackman. Like, goes to his house, or crashes a junkie interview or something, and slaps him up

+wasabiforgaming Yeah Australias ratings for movies is way better than their ratings for games, mainly because of all the up in arms parents and such who would buy their 9 year old a MA15+ game and then lose their shit when it had blood and gore and swearing in it. Least now with the R rating for games we will get less games banned because before the R rating games had to be censored a lot or were just banned, least now we have a bit more leeway.
+wasabiforgaming That's because the US rating system is different to Australia. Different age groups. We barely get any R18+ rated movies in the cinemas in Australia because we ARE hard on movies. We're a bunch of fucking pussies. Hell, it's a miracle we got Wolf of Wall Street and Hateful Eight uncut in cinemas. Other than that, we censor shit so we can get it to an MA15+ rating. You wouldn't believe what I saw when I was working at a distribution company. They get so pissed because they have to censor the smallest, insignificant shit in films some times before they can hit cinemas.
Also, an R rating in the US is still the equivalent of MA15+ in Australia. It didn't get an NC-17 rating (nowhere near deserving anyway). So yeah.
Deadpool was pretty tame anyway for an MA15+ movie in my opinion. Had its moments.

Actually the trailers showed almost every set location, the origin, the villain all the characters, the whole story arc what the villain does and mostly the main fight sequence.

I'm so glad Colossus finally received some screen time. He's a GREAT character, and one of my all time favorite X-Men dating back to my childhood of comic book collecting.
