Great reaction!! No worries, Dave. You were correct. In fact, it has been generally accepted since 2014 that The Warning has the better drummer. As Kirk said, "The drummer kicks maximum ass!"
reimagined *Enter Sandman* : DPA/TW and Alessia Cara certainly understood the assignment! Alessia Cara is a Grammy winning Canadian Pop and R&B singer... they had 10 days to rip this rendition of *Enter Sandman* from the ether and make it a darker, more eerie, and a more haunting lullaby than the original metal version... they made the deadline and got this OMV for it to boot! this reimagining and performance were done because they, and many other artists from numerous genres, were invited by Metallica to take one of the songs from the original _"Black"_ album, keep the lyrics and change it up how ever you like... play it backwards, upside down, whatever... this was all for the 30th anniversary of the _"Black"_ album... all the submissions from 50someodd artists were put on the 2021 _"The Metallica Blacklist"_ album... the proceeds from the album sales are split 50/50 with half going to Metallica's "All Within My Hands Foundation" and the other half being donated to a charity of the participating artists' choice. in the OMV, Dany (guitar) and Alessia share the lead vocals until they are in the three doorways when Dany takes over and Alessia does more of the background oooohs and aaaahs... the version they play in concert has Dany doing the vocals with a backing track of Alessia's ohhhs and ahhhs... of course Ale (bass) and Pau (drums) join in with their angelic harmonies in both... this is a fantastic reimagining of the iconic original... this performance, the last one of their "Big 3" 10th Anniversary shows, in Oct 2023, is astounding with the 10-piece string section from Monterrey, DPA/TW's home town... the string section came out to join Pau on her solo keyboard performance of *Black Holes* and stayed for *Enter Sandman* ... i like their lead-in ES while the stage was being cleared of the piano and other equipment... this 60+ year old rocker loves all of DPA/TW's versions of Enter Sandman... this performance is the new standard 😹 TWA ⚡🤘😸🤘⚡ TWA
Will agree 100% (and I am a Metallic fan) this is way better than the original IMHO! And yes, Pau is an extremely better drummer, no competition there, (better voice too LOL) This to me is an EPIC performance, but nothing less is expected from the multi-talented young ladies...re-writing Rock and Roll as we speak. Great reaction. And Yes "skatting" is a Jazz term.
Several reactors have said she is the better drummer and most of us agree. I really like the strings and the big stage production, but I think the Metropolitan version is more dramatic specially during the breakdown. I like both versions. Wouldnt want to have to choose just one.
I'm a little od'd on this Metallica Tune hearing it so much back in the day. But The Warning freshened it up a lot and was a cool arrangement. Speaking of throwbacks, I was majorly into Squeeze back in the day and I thought it would be interesting for Dave to check out a more recent tune by them. Here's one from 2016 I believe that has a real catchy hook. It's the tune, Nirvana ruclips.net/video/hrCK46qAG78/видео.html
Their version is great. Kirk commented on The Warning's youtube cover of this song back in 2014 that the (12 year old) drummer "kicked maximum ass". He may have sighed as he was typing that.
Aww this would have been a perfect opportunity to do a back-to-back reaction to the viral Enter Sandman video that kicked off these girls’ career! Surely y’all want to see 9-year-old Ale, yes?? 😄
@@Ilikeryche Are you having nightmares in the Daytime again? Kirk ole buddy ole pal said Pau kicks Maximum Ass when she was 12 yrs old. Now she is winning Rock Drummer Of The Year all over the place. Drumeo and is Modern Drummer Magazine...
Dave is a wise honest man. He's right about this version of ES being better than Metallica's and he is right about Pau being a better drummer than Lars. Facts. 🤷🏻
This, of course, is a special case; they were invited to participate, and definitely did it their way. Plenty of other top professional bands do things like this.
Would like dave's take on first warning songs. The first warning shots. How about River soul, they performed in their school: ruclips.net/video/VF_COP9yClg/видео.htmlsi=LxP8YielKqRp5fRe They also performed it in TED talks.
@Ilikeryche is having nightmares in the Daytime, again. So Is that why Matalica placed it on track one of the 30th Anniversary Black list Album??? Metallica really likes The Warning's Version,

And Dany was playing the Gibson Explorer that Lzzy Hale of Halestorm gifted to her.
Love this more than the original as well. Always thought The Warning version was haunting now even more so with the strings!❤️💪🏼🍺
Really good point about Pau having to pull it together after Breathe for this rocker song.

I love this version ! The Ladies got the harmonies back in between all the other stuff !! Simply fantastic !!
👍👍 !!! ⚡️⚡️⚡️
“Definitely better than Metallica in my opinion.” Dave, just keeping it real. 😂 Thanks to you both! I hadn’t thought about Limewire for years!
Never tire of The Warning. I’m definitely on board with a Black Hole Sun cover or anything by Chris Cornell. These ladies are phenomenal. Thanks guys.
The strings gives their version another boost of awesomeness
Ha! Limewire! That's such a blast from the past! WOW! lol
Kind of sounds like...The Warning! 🤘🎸🎶

Loved everything about this performance. And shoutout to Limewire!
Great reaction and explanation about the concert! I haven’t heard anyone mention Limewire in many a year!!!!🔥⚡️
I was a Napster guy! Tool's Sober was the first song I ever downloaded! :)

Never thought I'd hear Dave say that.....:)
We were having some technical difficulties. We were still working them out!

As a rule, I don't have Dave react to little kid videos. These ladies are exceptional, and he has seen Ale play when she was 13/14.

@@samechickAh OK. That makes sense. 👍 Thanks for all the great reactions!

In fairness to Lars, Pau is one of the world's best drummers, one of the all-time best.
Yes . . Scat is a jazz form . . . As well as 💩
"No, Lars is good. He's fine. But he's nothing like *THAT*!" 🤣🤣
Lars is far more skilled than this amature.

This should be the last cover The Warning ever does.
They have way too many great songs they don't even have time to play half of them in concert.
This, of course, is a special case; they were invited to participate, and definitely did it their way. Plenty of other top professional bands do things like this.
The sound like Metallica but with a better drummer, better bass player and better vocalist. Did I day this? Absolutely not! 😅

I don't know why people pick on Lars so much. I mean, he is better than most 8th graders. 😁
7th grade, yes. 8th? I dunno. 😄 j/k
Dave's not here man!
