Also in nursing school and when I see the way some of my peers do at simulations and lab skills. I just want to ball up and stay that way forever. I understand there’s a nursing shortage, but we don’t have to stoop so low for just about anyone to be able to get into the field. 🙄

When my grandmother got sick we had shifts around the clock at the hospital. Those who couldn't stay brought us food and a change of clothes when needed. She was never in that hospital alone. When it was time for her to transition we did hospice at home.
My family would likely forget I was even there If I'm on my death bed they'll wonder why I haven't talked to them in 30 years just to find out I died while I still lived in they're house
That really says it all. Yet they always want to limit who is allowed. I had a dying mother in the hospital around (covid) they didn't give two shits and I was power of attorney and everything. @@justafloofbean2342 That's super sad. However you can build your own support if family is not one. I've had to do this. Once my mother left I had no one either.
That is true. After hip surgery one year, the nurses, for the most part, had no bedside manner at all. After a disturbing incident with a nurse, I asked a nurse, who was in her 60s, if they had to teach empathy and compassion because it seemed those two qualities were sorely lacking in some of the younger nurses. She responded by telling me that no, they don't 'teach' empathy and compassion, and then she Said, "but they should." Unfortunately, these are qualities that are almost impossible to teach. You either have them or you don't
My girlfriend works as a medical assistant and she tells me all the time how a majority of people working there could care less if youre dying or not. The medical industry is full of dark dark stuff
I remember when I was admitted at an NHS hospital, I had a neck injury was told not to move from my bed or it could further damage my vertebrae. Was calling for a nurse for more than 45 minutes until I had enough and got up and went looking for a nurse. They were all on the desk having a long gossip session. Like 5 of them.

when my mom was in hospital with diabetes and kidney issues, she was ALWAYS thirsty and nauseous. she was pressing the button for a drink for ages while she was in intensive care and no one came. she managed to called my dad who angrily called the hospital. by the time someone went to bring her some water, she already choked on her vomit and was unconscious. she died later same day after 8 hours on life support. intensive care was supposed to have 2 nurses supervising the patients at all times.
My gf's dad had a stroke, and emergency brain surgery. Their visiting hours for the NICU were like 8am to 7:30 pm. One morning my gf walked in to see her dad, and found he had ripped all of his tubes, including feeding, urine, and ventilator, out with his one good hand. She was the first one to notice, despite his bed being visible from the nursing station through the doorway, and there being almost no other patients in the wing. In other words, they had clearly left him alone all night with 0 staff watching, and didn't even bother to check him in the morning.
I am chronically ill and I’ve some awful nurses who ignored me but I’ve also had some amazing angelic souls who saved my life. Request a new nurse if you’re unhappy with your care and always advocate for yourself even if that means entering awkward or uncomfortable social situations! Always keep your emergency contacts up to date so you have someone to advocate for you in emergencies. Stay safe, and THANK YOU to the nurses who DO care and dedicate their lives to helping others with empathy, compassion, and intelligence. 💛
I'm also chronically I'll you wouldnt believe some of the things I've experienced in hospital. Sad it's come to this. Sad you have to fight for care what about those who have no one to advocate for them?
I have had a similar experience, I've had cancer twice, and I just left the hospital recently. Three nurses were quite nasty to me. two nurses on the night shift seemed like they didn't want to be bothered. One of them was clearly watching a movie on a laptop, she accidentally pulled out her headphones and I heard it, bearing in mind I was in the high dependency ward. when I told one nurse how they were treating me, she didn't do much to help me. But when I told another young nurse, she went and reported them to the ward manager. She, and quite a lot of the nurses were brilliant, I couldn't hope for better care from them.
Yup I have 2 chronic conditions since a teen now 45 and my mother suffered conditions too. I’ve said to ppl for 30 years most drs and nurses are not good ppl and I’ve fought back. It’s gotten me thrown out of places but I did not stop fighting back even had one hospital send an apology letter. I have a hip/buttock condition and endo I’ve been left neglected and ignored for 30 years. I’ve begged for help but because I’m not rich and MRI’s don’t show what’s wrong. They refuse to go in ie exploratory surgery and figure it out. All my dreams wasted all I could have been I just recently found a Dr willing to go in, but what I believe I have after many years of research. There is only a few drs who treat it and I’ve called them they are cash only. So if after these surgeries I’m not fixed I don’t know what I’ll do cause I don’t have the money to see a top expert.
I'm sorry that happened to you. I found myself in a similar situation. I was a recent RN grad jn 1988. I was believed, but the pos wasn't fired!!! The head nurse was on maternity leave and her replace was clueless... Take care!
@@YesIlikebananasSoThe problem is that it's so hard to prove that she got fired for that reason, even though she probably did. So, sadly, there probably won't be justice, but we can hope for karma!
If true, that's an easy labor lawsuit. There are laws protecting employees against retaliatory terminations. Especially considering nurses are considered mandatory reporters.
Don't do this. You'll be thrown out by security because self important Karen's trying to tell nurses how to do their jobs and staying past visiting hours is not conducive to proper care.

@Cunning_Linguist I could be wrong and tbh I kinda hope I am but I think that's more of an issue with the whole Healthcare system. As a kid there were a few times where I had to go to the ER due to my head going through a window and the tip of my finger being severed by a door and both times we had to sit in the waiting room for 2-4 hours. Once the paper towels started to get soaked we just had to ask the nurses for some more and honestly my injuries weren't even the most severe. Another time I was sent there for mental health reasons and they sat my parents and I in a tiny room by ourselves for 4 hours straight only for a nurse to show up, ask me a couple questions, and then send us to a differnt part of the hospital... When anything like Healthcare or prisons is (unethically) made to be for profit it tends to be severely mismanaged since its primary focus is to make money instead of doing the thing its supposed to do. Pair that with us having a shortage of doctors atm (which is intentional cuz congress has a cap on the number of doctors in the country that they set each year) and a whole bunch of other issues I'm probably missing the end result is overpriced subpar medical care. That being said, there's definitely some super shitty nurses who should be fired and have their licenses revoked and others who I genuinely owe my life too and will be forever grateful too...
@@adamh781 it's not nurses fault if they had 20 other things to do before coming to see you. You have to understand the hospital is not for you only, there're many other sick people.
Any time ive been in a&e with my kids & parents you sit hours and so do the nurses! They are very laid back unless there is an emergency. They state lack of beds etc but most cases could be seen much quicker and let go if they were even processed. When all is done and you can leave, they take an age to clear the records to finally say go now!
It's been proven that people with narcissistic tendencies tend to go towards the medical field because they do not have empathy for the people which makes it easier to deal with all of the death and horror

Total mood man. Medical system here is screwed up but I know the nurses, doctors and paramedics as well as all the assistants and faculty are doing their best despite what they’re forced to work with.
I was in ICU had part of my lung removed. I'm 5'6" and about 200 lbs. Also a medic for 30+ years. Young RN called me fat, then ordered me a diet tray with only liquids. Wouldn't give me my pain meds. Kept asking for her, I was next to the desk, 3rd time she sent the tech in, I looked at the RN said I was now over due for second set of pain meds. So either she called my doctor or I would. 3 other RNs sitting there all heard me. She ended up calling, his PA came in, By now I'm due for 3rd round of pain meds I haven't gotten. RN tried to say she gave them. I said BS check the video. She hasn't been in here at all. Then I called my friend that worked in dietary and ordered what I wanted. Then I called the house sup to come over and talk. Was there for 6 more days, never saw her again. Never screw with someone you don't know. I also worked in the ER of that hospital. Knew everyone, and who to talk to.

@sandrachestnut6449 omg!! I am 68yrs, I have stage IV cancer & was in a horrible car wreck!! I hate doctors & hospitals!! I saw 13 doctors before one finally listened to me!! I kept telling them I was in horrible pain. Instead, I was put on the New Mexico State Drug Seeker/Addict list. So everyone I saw assumed I was a druggie!! By the time someone listened to me, cancer had already spread!! All this has been in the last 4 years. Then a tramp hit my truck, doing 65mph!!! She didn't even brake!! I was taken to the hospital in an ambulance. At the ER, I was given a shot of morphine & sent home, because nothing was wrong with me!!!🤬🤬🤬 I had a broken nose, teeth, detached retinas, brain bleed, broken wrist, trashed my neck, shoulder, knee, & ankle!!! Went to my doctor a few days later, for the required follow up visit. He found my wrist was broken!!! I had to wait 6 weeks to see a nose specialist, by then my nose healed crooked!!! I had surgery on my wrist to remove bone that would not heal. I lost 57% use of my hand!! I am a professional artist😢 I had shoulder & knee surgery. Several procedures on my back. Had a little back surgery 2 weeks ago. Then I had 4 ER visits & 2 specialist visits last year for horrible stomach pains. Sent home again as a drug seeker. 7th visit I was sent in for emergency surgery. Sat in the ER for 10-12 hours in pain & was sent home!!! Had to wait 2 more weeks for surgery!!! That was another joke!! The sent me to the wrong hospital for surgery!!! For the back surgery, there's a lady that works in the office who keeps messing with me. Sent me home the morning of the surgery, she said she didn't get my records, so no surgery!!!! She told me the week before she had the records!!! When I had the knee surgery, I was there 3 days already, the house keeper asked where my lunch tray was, I said I didn't get lunch and hadn't had anything since 12 hours before surgery!!! She went & scrounged a snack for me!! They forgot to feed me!!! I have more stories to tell!!! I could go on for hours!!! I am lucky to be alive!!!😭😭😭 my health is ruined due to incompetent doctors & nurses!!! Worst part, that's pretty much what happens to most people in New Mexico!! We have worse than 3rd world medical care!!! My county doesn't even have a hospital!!!😢
If this is how they’ll treat one of their coworkers … it gives me all the more reason to never ever go to the hospital. As someone who most likely would have high risk pregnancies it makes me question having my own children because I see/hear these stories of nurses and doctors ignoring and neglecting and even flat out abusing their patients and it horrifies me.
I was on a ward last year and one guy who had an internal bleed flatlined for at least 3 minutes before the nurses responded to the alarm. There was also a 90 year old man who was delirious from dehydration and would often cry out for help because he was incapable of raising a drink to his mouth. Myself and one other guy would help him get comfortable and help him to drink his water… When his family came to visit there was talks of palliative care (end of life care) being administered at home where he’d be more comfortable, the family were apprehensive until I pulled one of them aside and told them about the failings of the hospital. They burst into tears and thanked me for being honest. A day later they arrived to move him back home and look after him there. It’s shocking what goes on inside of hospitals, I know they complain about the wages etc but it seems to affect their humanity and basic instincts to preserve the life of those in their care.
It's a real issue. The worst girls I knew from high school now work in medical. Explains why everytime I've been to a hospital at least one of the female workers have been mean to me.
EXACTLY! I remember this one girl i graduated with aspired to be a psychologist... She was the biggest 💩 talker, rumor making gossiper in school!! 🤦🏽 goodness
I was on morphine for 2 weeks straight, had acute pancreatitis. I was begging a nurse to take me for a wee, I was rigged to alarmed tubes so when I moved it would set off, I kept getting shouted at for moving for like an itch or something. I sat their quietly not moving for an hour and got shouted at. I realised I was surrounded by some cruel ass people. I decided to drag myself outta bed had a head rush lost balance and fell over only to be told “why didn’t you call for assistance” after pissing myself on the floor due to holding it in for so long. Not all nurses, but a lot of them are as cruel as they come.
Some of the most spiteful women I’ve ever met! Not all nurses but most of them! Seems to attract a certain kind of woman. They treat lower staff like sht too
I’d always assumed that being a patient in a hospital would make you feel safe and in the best place to be. Until I was a patient in a hospital. I felt scared and vulnerable and that 80% of nurses couldn’t care less about you and wouldn’t even rush over to you if they saw you collapse. It was a horrible realisation. I used to be a nurse in the 80s and it’s changed beyond recognition now.

100%. I would say most are arseholes and every year they mascarade as underpaid heroes, when here in Australia they are whining, overpaid, lazy narcs. Not just nursing, but the entire public service from science, to military, security, transport to finance.
I totally agree with you. I wouldn't trust any of them to care for me. When I did my training I worked very hard. I find most nowadays to be lazy sods.
I hope this crew were fired. I had one bad experience with nurses, years ago at a Richmond, VA hospital. My brain-injured nephew was left alone with a covered lunch tray, in a darkened toom while he needed help. After my detailed written report of how our requests for assistance were ignored, he was moved within the facility and got proper care. People need to speak up about such neglect.
I’m a student nurse and trust me, alot of nurses are some of the laziest, most selfish and inconsiderate people on the planet. I brought friends to A&E as they fell off a bus stop (their fault but still), we were stuck in the waiting room for 8 hours before we were seen by the day staff, and we came in at 1am. One mate had a fracture from his heel to his fibula, the other had a severe concussion. As a student we’re there to learn, we get bullied, shouted at, used as extra staff, threatened with failing if we don’t do what they want, and that’s why so many have dropped out. There are a lot of good kind nurses, bit unfortunately that’s becoming a minority.
This is true. I know 3 nurses in my life. Mother, older sibling, family friend. All of them are horrible people. The way they treat their family and some of the things I've heard them say with confidence... I would not recommend anyone under their care :(
I thought I was having a heart attack after major abdominal surgery. I called a nurse for 2 hours. No one came. If you have to go i to a hospital, try to have friend or family with you as much as you can to act on your behalf (this was during covid, so wasnt possible). I was supposed to be taken on walks 3 times a day to prevent blood clots. i was taken on one walk in an entire week. They wouldnt let my husband do it. I now have a portal vein thrombosis (chronic blood clot in my liver) that will most likely shorten my life. Thanks Marshfield Clinic.
I agree. My dad was in palliative care. He had a seizure and couldn't speak. They put a sign on the door to check in on him every 30 minutes. His room was at the end of the hall so the nurses didn't know when we were there or not. They came every 4 hours. So I agree. You need someone there. And one more thing to add, you don't want to have an issue at night. It's a ghost town.
I worked briefly as a hospital ward secretary in northern NY , and this is exactly what it was like! After two weeks of seeing incompetent nurses ignore very sick and dying patients, I’d had enough. I’m not exaggerating. All the nurses would hide during their shifts so either an aide would do their work, or the patient was ignored. Absolutely the worst display of cold heartedness I could NEVER imagine. The nurses even had the arrogance to ridicule a seriously mentally ill, elderly woman, Whose kids I met years later & became close to. Beyond horrific is how I’d describe the way the hospital was run.
@@Psychnurse2023 Does it sound like these nurses care, they obviously don’t care about the law or people’s well-being (not all nurses of course, but a surprising amount), they’re dumping that work on them even if it’s not allowed, they do it because somebody has to
My sister is an RN. She has got to be one of the most heartless assholes I've ever met. I feel like it's definitely a NY thing myself, but who knows tbh.
@@Suilimealol it’s definitely NOT. A New York thing. It’s an issue because they’re hiring anyone they can give a job to. Nurses are underpaid and overworked most of the time and fed up so they’re leaving and now employers have no other choice but to hire the bottom of barrel nurses. So that’s why you see this type of behavior. Also, people can be reported and lose their license. Plus after some time people’s attitudes toward work gets jaded. Nursing is not for everyone. Might not be for your sister.
Im so very sorry for your loss! Heartbreaking. Precious angel is in God's playground now. Those nurses aren't bad nurses they're heartless people and will so be greeted.
Worked as a housekeeper in a Senior Facility. Had almost no free time but when I did, I was sitting with a resident to keep them company (which I really enjoyed, hence why I applied for the job). The CNAs & nurses had WAY more downtime and most of them spent 100% of it in the break room mocking residents, scrolling, and vaping. When one would push a button, they’d roll their eyes and continue with their conversation. I don’t understand why someone would apply for that kind of job if they didn’t want to do it. These folks are literally dying of loneliness and neglect. It takes a minimum amount of time and energy to make the biggest difference for them. If you’re not up for that kind of job, DO NOT APPLY FOR IT.
My sister is an LPN at a nursing home and I guarantee you that she nor her fellow employees are just sitting around! She works her butt off. You may have just been in a bad residence.
@@herberthouston1776 Yes of course it wasn’t 100% of them. There is obviously an exception to every rule. There were a couple nurses and CNAs that really did care and enjoyed their job. It absolutely was the administration’s flawed management practices that was the root cause of those bad ones continuously getting hired. If people got their friends to apply and they got the job, both got a massive pay bonus. This resulted in an influx of people who genuinely just wanted the money and got their equally greedy and lazy friends in on it too. We’d have people quit after a couple months since they already got their pay and they never wanted the job. As you can imagine, this incentive structure created a horrible work environment that was downright unsafe for the residents.
It’s 60/40 where I work. Mostly young ladies with no license doing caregiving with no prior experience and very little training. And that is exactly what most of them are doing when they’re not toileting, feeding or ambulating. I try to stay busy as often as possible. Do I take smoke breaks? Yes. Do I check my phone sometimes during what little downtime I have? Yes. But otherwise I’m also doing laundry and visiting with residents or cleaning when there’s not a page, caregiving or a meal. While these ladies just could not care less and complain every time or even ignore.
When I went to a technical program in high school, I was horrified. I went for Animal Science, and all of us were ready to start our careers with animals. The nursing class… terrifying. They often broke their blood pressure machines by putting them on each other and letting them run. We would sometimes need to borrow things and they’d give us the worst, most broken stethoscopes and blood pressure cuffs… and they were the only slightly working ones. During their triage practice, they’d actively make fun of the things that happened to the fake patients. When they did a blood drive and had the students help out, they’d threaten each other with the used needles. Every single student there from my high school was one of the worst people I’ve ever met in my life and has NO BUSINESS being in healthcare. They were mean, vindictive, cliquey, and would actively make fun of you to your face.
Newly paralyzed and lying 2 ft from the nurse table, i asked for a bed pan to puke in. She ignored me. I started retching and the men in the open ward kept berating her. 10 mins in i projectile vomited on my doctor coming out of surgery, 15 ft away. The vomit sat me up violently and further damage to my 4 affected vertebraes. 20% of ppl in service industry will abuse. That was the old stats.
@sphynxkittens5894 My general experiences were amazing. Two or three of those experiences I want to be around as the choir sings so I could pin the wings in myself. It is an understatement to say it is my favorite profession.
I was a nurse until 11 years ago when I went into a different direction in health care. Half of my team in the ward was like them. There were like 3-4 nurses who really cared about the patients. The rest was just doing the basic work and chilling. I hated that. When you don't have a strict head nurse it all goes to hell.
As a nurse too I relate to this massively. It’s difficult too because sometimes the ward is a little slower and it just makes sense to sit at the nurses station.. I love chatting with a lot of my patients and sometimes even play cards and stuff with them if it’s quiet or during my lunch breaks, but other times we do sit at the front desk and talk to one another. I don’t necessarily think it’s fair to blame these nurses who are no doubt horrified by what occurred… maybe with the exception of vaping. We don’t actually need to be with the patients 100% of the time… unless there is a clear indication of failure to care (ie they had reason to believe he was imminently at risk and therefore should have been spécialed 1:1) I actually don’t think it’s right for people to jump in and blame the nurses right away.
The world is going to hell because people like them who couldn't care less about others are running the world Jesus coming back is the only thing that will save humanity
Context: the footage is of nurses doing nothing productive at the nurses station in a psychiatric hospital where the young man had waited 3 weeks to get into. they are supposed to observe you so many times an hour/constantly if high-risk which he was. These nurses spent less than three minutes watching him before going back to doing nothing as he walked into his room’s bathroom and killed himself with an item he constructed. It was over an hour before they discovered him. Edit: from the article : “Bren McFarlane, 20, took his own life less than 24 hours after being admitted to a secure mental health unit run by the NHS. Despite policy stipulating all patients in 136-suite The Harbour in Blackpool, Lancashire, should be "in sight at all times", in the hour before Bren was found, staff spent less than three minutes observing him.”
Actually that is incorrect, the vast majority of patients in a psych ward are maintained on Q15 minute rounds. Meaning eyes on the patient four times per hour, not constantly. However there are times constant monitoring (1:1 observation) is required.
@@JG1rn that’s very true, however in this specific case not accurate. The guy was actually on a special ward in a specific room as a high suicide risk and wasn’t meant to be left alone for more than a couple minuets at a time. They only saw him once in 2 hours for 3 mins. The rest of the time was not spent working or with other patients for the most part. It was mainly spent texting, scrolling on phones and chatting. So yes you’re right that there’s rounds on a psych ward, but he was high risk and meant to be seen more than normal. There’s a lot of articles on this case as it will likely be found the nurses are the partially responsible for his death, which is rare in psych as suicide patients will do a lot to achieve their end beyond the nurses control.
@honeypot3213 did this patient have a 1:1 sitter/observer that would have been within arms reach of the patient at all times? As a psych RN I can tell you sometimes the sitter is distracted on their phone and not watching the patient. At night sleeping is a big issue and I've had patients leave their sitters and wander up to the Nsg Station alone.
I had two sons in the hospital due to a car accident, one on life support. Let me tell you, i would not have him here now, had i left the hospital. When he was moved to the next unit, i did leave to shower and came back to catching my son from falling where they allowed him to get up from an alarm bed. He had broken his c7, and miraculously not paralyzed. Had i not been there, who knows what could have happened in that situation. Not to mention in icu, the nurse went to change drugs from iv port, and she didn't even put the line back to his iv...i didn't realize this until he started stirring more and popped his eyes open, on propofal.... that's when i checked and ran to the nurses desk, in icu. Always c stay with your loved ones!
My mom was a nurse and she abused me my entire life. The fact she was responsible for people's lives is beyond me. Also she did hope hospice so all of her patients did eventually die. Accurate with how she treated everyone in her life.
i really can’t say my mom abused me but i understand where you’re coming from. mine is a pediatrician and honestly what i’ve picked up on over the years is that a lot of people go into this profession for some sort of ego boost in a sense. so in your case she can be downright awful to you, and then go to work and be revered. narcissists love that. it keeps up their double image.
Based in the UK- 20 year old Bren suffered a history of mental health issues. After his psychiatrist requested an urgent placement at a 'place of safety”- Lancashire Mental Hospital, he had to wait 3 weeks for an available room. Finally they got the call that a room had opened. However, less than 24 hours after walking into Lancashire, he was found unresponsive. When he first got there and wad getting checked in, Bren managed to keep a personal item hidden. Then, in a mere 20 minutes, during which time no observations of him were being done, his used that personal item to end his life in his bedrooms en suite bathroom. Over a one hour period of time, Bren was observed for less than 3 minutes. This video shows what the nurses were doing instead- One nurse sat on a desk on her phone while another spends several minutes doing her colleague's hair. The system failed Bren McFarlane.
This is overwhelmingly heartbreaking! I hope those Self-absorbed asshats are stripped of their titles and are Never allowed to work in healthcare ever again!

what scary is agencies will hire new grad nurses and throw them in this situation. Theyre new and also dont care because of the whole “im only working here today” mentality. As a nurse, I’ve met alot of RNs that have no idea what theyre doing and alot of them also have the “im an RN and youre not” bs that just gets them even more in trouble. today, people are getting into nursing for the money and not because of caring for people.
Absolutely not true, agencies are legally only allowed to hire someone who's already worked six months in the NHS. So if anything they tend to be better and get paid more to do a good job. Sad reality 😢
@@lindfordwood1297 tell that to the agency that my facility uses lol. healthcare workers get away with a lot. all nurses should be held to an even higher standard. my girlfriend last night told a nurse her heart was palpitating (skipping beats) after medicine was administered, and the nurse said "oh ok" and walked away. that's not necessarily what you say to someone who has heart failure.
I remember a few years back I visited an Aunt in hospital. Whilst there, there was a change of shift and the Charge Nurse was saying whose going to go out shopping first! I was gobsmacked being a Nurse myself. I saw my Aunt, checked her catheter. The bag was empty. There she was in bed with a saline drip up, and told to keep drinking water and she could hardly breath. She was also on steroids which attracts water retention. I went up to the Nurses station and said, anyone notice my Aunt's catheter bag is empty and she's struggling to breath! She drowning in her own fluids! Never seen them move so fast. Doctor immediately called. Drip taken down, water taken away. She died two days later. An absolute disgusting travisty.
When my sister lost her baby to an ectopic pregnancy I remember well how downright cruel the nurses were. She almost died and lost her baby, my nephew or niece, and they treated her like an inconvenience the entire time. 😢
I hope your sister made a full recovery from her loss. 🙏🏾😔❤️ I have suffered from 2 ectopic pregnancies. BOTH times were life threatening, so i can only imagine what your sister was feeling physically and emotionally. Unfortunately, i had no insurance the second time due to getting laid off from my job. I literally found out i was pregnant at one hospital, but because i was hemorrhaging so bad they rushed me to a " better" hospital in the city. I went straight into surgery. All of this happened in a matter of hours. I didn't even have time to actually process it. Even though i almost bled to death..as soon as i woke up in recovery, i remember the doctor telling me they weren't able to save the only fallopian tube i had left which in fact meant i would no longer be able to concieve the natural way. Again, im STILL trying to process everything because it happened so quick. The next thing i knew, i was being discharged that same night . I told the doctor i knew i was being discharged because i didn't have insurance. He kinda half smiled and mumbled something under his breath. I cried like a baby all the way home and for MANY days to come after that. I was in so much pain and i immediately spun into a deep depression. I will never forget how unimportant i felt to those nurses/doctors. No compassion, no empathy or sympathy. 😔🤞🏾🤦🏾♀️
I went through this and I went to a Norton by my house the nurses were very understanding and kind and compassionate I think it just depends on where you are.. it just seems like if I go over to Ky the doctors and nurses there could give a f*** less but over here in IN they actually give a s***
I can tell you even with alarms going off, some staff will not check patients. I hear them and go searching. I have caught other nurses patient's with shortness of breath, vent tubes disconnected and other things, but they are ignoring the alarm. If a patient's room door is open I always peek as im passing by to make sure everything is ok even if they aren't mine. Extra eyes are always helpful especially when ratios are 8:1.
There is nothing worse than working with a bad rotation. Nurses will sit there while call bells go off bc it's not their patient, or let a pt sit in their own mess while their nurse is off the unit for the 45-minute lunch. I have complained and complained and now my manager sees me as the problem. I reported two nurses who changed a patient's cath & didn't clean the pt first, the pt was on a feeding tube and had a large #7 & they didn't clean him bc the pt was assigned to the CNA for care. This is an MCC Unit and a day or two later the pt was showing signs of an infection and was sent out to acute care where it was confirmed the pt had urinary sepsis. Management didn't even investigate the issue 🤷🏽♂️ I've started to lose hope but I can't imagine not being in a hospital.

I know how it feels 😩 after my last baby I was sent home because the nurse anesthetist told me my severe headache was a caffeine headache. Acted almost like I was insulting “her work”🤦🏼♀️ (I’ve had migranes and this was well beyond) I ended up in the ER a couple hours later literally felt like I was seconds away from death. Couldn’t see, and I mean debilitating pain… BP was 200 something over 100 something I don’t remember, but it took the doctor 30-40 minutes to even come in the room. I was then moved to the ICU and treated with magnesium for post partum preeclampsia. Blood patch was eventually done and headache was almost completely gone but BP wouldn’t go down. I told the nurse I was scared of having a stroke bc of the BP (my dad did and hasn’t been able to talk since) and also since I had low platelets. She said “oh that’s a good thing, you are less likely to clot”. I said yeah, I’m not talking about an ischemic stroke and she looked at me like I was speaking a foreign language. From that point on I had panic attacks because I felt nobody around me knew what they were doing. It was so helpless feeling! Thank god they ended up transferring me to a larger facility two hours away and I improved.
Was it postpartum preeclampsia that ended up in HELLP syndrome… plus epidural Tap. You had it rough! I’m so sorry the headache from that complication from epidurals is bad enough. Can only lay flat! Then you also had Pre eclampsia and the headache from that!! That must have been horrendous! Glad you’re ok now ❤
@@mszoe1974 I’m not really sure! They kept asking about upper right quadrant pain so I think they were considering that. @@courtma I’ve been a high risk midwife for 20 years. So this is my norm… yes epigastric pain is part of your condition worsening.. feels like severe indigestion that doesn’t go away. when i tried to take my life the nurses left me in a hallway all night and left me shivering for hours with no blanket, made comments on my appearance. people in the medical field these days do not care about you
It's ALWAYS BEEN LIKE THIS. Before your grandparents were even born, doctors and nurses were much more psychotic than this. Again, the medical industry is filled with such mental invalids and the sort of people who you do NOT want near you, let alone engage in surgery on you.
I feel sickened. Same type of thing with a psychiatrist telling me i think i m a v specisl.person and other derogatary remarks ..just because didnt looked suividal didnt mean i wasnt. I ve launched a formal complaint which they ll lie their way out of and that s at a crisis health team. They should be shut down..😢
I went in for kidney stones before and told them what it was. knew it was because ive had them several times and on record at this hospital. Pain comes and goes with them, when i got there it was none. In a room they rolled their eyes at me, said i would get no pain meds and were very rude and super obviously accusing me of faking it for drugs. Didnt even ask for pain meds, was only there cuz i have one kidney and have had them enough to know to go in. 30 minutes in the pain came back, and said im lying and to just leave before they call the cops. After like an hour of being treated like a drug addict they got the results back and i had 3 stones. All the sudden they ask if i want any medication and act like they didnt just treat me like garbage. I get why people hate the hospital.
Pain medications are controlled and very controversial post the opiate crisis. I have had patients with sawed off limbs get Tylenol because doctors are so afraid of the consequences. I had my ribs broken after a gym accident and they would not give me any pain killers. When they finally did a nurse came in and accused me of using drugs. When I left the hospital I made sure she knew I was also a nurse and made sure she was reported for being a stupid b
@@galacticwarlock2271 i can definitely see the controversy, but I didn't even ask for any lol. They just started assumed I was faking it before they took a scan or looked at paperwork to see i have been there for them several times
For real, the same thing happens to me and my fam. We're of different color and living penniless in the USA and the doctors and nurses alike always give us looks whenever we go get checked up. One of the worst human beings I ever met in the last 15 years was a female nurse, working in an NHS hospital. Not all who wear capes are superheroes...
It BROKE MY HEART when my son broke his leg on his 3rd birthday..we went to the ER and it took them 1 hour to get him Tylenol 😭 I went out to see if we could hurry it along and they were all sitting around laughing about something. I asked about the Tylenol and a doctor came out and barked at them. He got the Tylenol right away after that…he was just a little boy and I was so disappointed at the lack of kindness and urgency to help him and try to make him feel like it was going to be okay. It truly was the day I realized I don’t trust medical professionals as much as I thought I did.
Been in the NHS for almost 6 years, in care for over 20+ years. When i first started working at my local hospital, I was in awe to be among the nurses and students, they were amazing people. This last year or so, the amount of student nurses from abroad that have attitudes and lack of everything that a person needs to be a nurse is heartbreaking. I wouldn't trust most of them to look after a bowl of soup, let alone a person.
This is an incredibly sweeping statement, my 6 years in the ambulance service I generally find that NHS nurses are brilliant regardless of their background, the majority of them are from abroad now and at least in A&E, HDU, ICU are all pretty up to scratch clinically but all very burned out, as are we in the ambulance service. I think this statement about overseas nurses is a hugely sweeping statement, care home nurses on the other hand...completely different standard, lacking all clinical knowledge and skills every single one denies knowing the patient, tells us they are agency etc and sometimes we find they aren't even registered.
The nurses I had after surgery were amazing and from the Philippines & Thailand, they couldn’t have been nicer, it was the British nurses that were very unfriendly.
@@danielle4295 The only good medical help is usually Taiwanese, Chinese, Indian or Irish besides that they're usually lazy and or cheeky but in a very disrespectful way
@livescreaming it may be a sweeping statement and that's not good, but I will also say that the worst staff members I've ever encountered were 'agency'. A lot of them were highly unprofessional and negligent and frankly completely unqualified to be dealing with vulnerable people.
I've been a nurse in several different fields of care since 1980 and still going strong. I have met good and bad from all ethnicities. The vast majority are good . One African nurse purchased items from her own money for people who had no visiting relatives
I'm in a career technical center, and let's just say the nursing program is full of the most disrespectful, trashy, rude girls ever. I can't believe these are the nurses of the future 🤦🏼♀️
True. The health care industry must be desperate for help - they will hire anyone. I worked in rehab and retirement homes in the 80s and 90s mostly we had good teams, but things have changed. Look how screwed up all the young people are? We have failed the last 2 generations. I don't know how to get a do over when it comes to life. But our families all need help.
My body was acidotic and i was literally dying when i came into an e.r. i collapsed on the floor in the middle of check in and woke up to a woman screaming at me to "stand up right now, do what i said, GET UP!" and just dragging me around by my wrist. I didn't see her again after i got into a wheelchair but i overheard other nurses talking. She had assumed i was on drugs so she thought that was a good enough reason to abuse a patient, so she started hitting me and screaming at me while i was passed out on the floor. Integris Canadian Valley Hospital in Yukon, Oklahoma. Don't go there.
My Mom passed away from a ruptured aneurysm. She was right across the the nurses station. 4 of them lied and said they weren't around there. This was in response to my complaint. I told the person they are lying and to check the video. They couldn't have done anything for her. I just can't stand when people don't want to own up to their mistakes
So the anger of your mother passing away was directed towards the nurses? Sorry for your loss but damn, you know they couldn’t have done a thing and still are wanting to get them in trouble for nothing?
For anyone confused, this young man, Bren, had awaited a bed in a mental hospital for a while. After finally being granted one he was taken back and the normal procedure of taking one's belongings away had been done. Although, Bren had snuck something past the staff. After being sent in he used this item (unkown) to make something else and later took his life in the bathroom. These nurses observed him for 2 minutes..2 MINUTES and they were in there for an hour. Doing what is shown in this footage. He had taken his life at 10:16 and was later found at 10:29 unresponsive. He was recesitated but later died due to a damaged brain stem cell due to the lack of oxygen
He obviously wasn't on a one to one or suicide watch, so therefore he would be checked every 15 mins, some wait till a check has just been done then do it knowing they have 15 minutes before next check ...sad but true
All of the Psych wards I've been on have always followed a 15min check routine. If you were in your room asleep in the dark, there was a night light they could switch on and if necessary they would shine a torch in your face to check if you reacted. Because the smoking room/area was closed after 11pm I would have to wait for one of these checks before I jumped out of bed and had a cigarette in the shower room. There wasn't a single night where they skipped their 15min check. Those nurses in the video are a disgrace and should lose their jobs. Furthermore they should never be employed in a position of care and responsibility like that again.
My dad was in the ICU. We were the only ones checked in the hospital besides 1 married couple in the other room who was gonna leave the day after. The surgeon told me not to let my dad puke else he would die due to infection. My dad went nauseous, I screamed for the nurse so they could give my dad some medication to stop him from puking. Nobody came until I kept pressing the red button on the other side of the bed. Take note, we were literally beside the nurse station and the door was open so they could hear me screaming but no one came. When they did, I could see them walking nonchalantly, "Yes? Do you need something?" That night, my dad died because he puked and the infection spread to his blood.
Long story short, they tried to revive him for 15 minutes, didn't work. They kept his body in a bag without a freezer (since they didn't have one) for 10 hours because they wanted me to pay the full bill and only released him after I called the cops. The hospital is still up and only being used to socialize with "elites" as they're owned by a former mayor in my country. I couldn't sue, I don't have the money for it... I didn't have anyone with me at all, I was alone in handling everything while being 22 at a conservative country where you're still technically under your parents' care until you're 30 (or until you're married).
I am so sorry, sweetheart for your loss. And I am so so sorry, especially because as a nurse myself. I see you. Nurses are only given 1 to 2 patients at the most so they had plenty of time. I'm sure and plenty of ability to keep anti knowledge in medicine actually on hand so I am so sorry. That this was not averted. And I know it doesn't make it feel better to tell you that this could have been an avertently averted, but unfortunately it could Have been and that's what makes me so upset as well.
Soon enough you'll end up desensitized or worse, mental if you cared about every single patient you meet cuz seeing people dying and have the worst of diseases with worst conditions knowing you did all you could but still couldn't help them would drive you crazy. My friends sister committed suic*de after the patient she was assigned to committed suicide because she thought it was her fault for not helping enough, she was fairly new and cared too much about patients so whenever a patient was rude or yelled at her she always blamed herself, soon it got too much and then her Patient took his own life, that was her last straw, she would always let other people's misery get to her.
My dad almost died twice from Dr and nurse negligence, he was in a coma for 4 months during covid, had a bed sore the size of a baseball that they refused to treat, it got infected down to the bone and they transferred him to a nursing home so they didnt have to treat him, he kept complaining about it until finally a call in Dr came and looked at it, he ended up being ambulanced and had to have multiple emergency surgeries to save his life, like the absolute idgf attitude nurses have towards other human beings is appalling, they arent all bad but damn
Sue the everlasting sh*t out of them. That's absolutely disgusting, if my dad had been on that situation I'd be in prison and there would be a doctor missing his front teeth. They get out of med school and think they are God. Trust me I know, my sister is a doctor, and definitely isn't human. Please tell me u sued them?
I had a ER nurse traumatize me by threatening to call the police on my because I was having a panic attack and mildly crying. She informed me that I was wasting THEIR time and the people there where the ones who needed to be seen. I left, got even worse off mentally and ended up in the psychiatric ward the next day. And they staff there were so kind to me and nurtured me back to sanity.
I’ve ended up in the ER with panic attacks a couple times back in my early twenties and they had the same attitude. People who’ve never had a panic attack don’t understand that you literally feel like you’re dying.
After my dad died, I was standing just outside of his room washing my hands and there were a group of nurses there laughing and carrying on right next to me. They said they performed CPR and tried to save him, but no one was tired, no one was sweaty and they certainly didn’t clean him up before I stepped in. Yet here they were, standing a foot away from his door, laughing and carrying on like it was a big joke. I’ve never wanted to burn a building down so bad as I did that day.
I was having an allergic reaction to an IV med they were giving me - my body tensed up so bad and my tongue fell to the back of my throat and I couldnt breath. It was the scariest experience, my boyfriend at the time was freaking out because I couldn’t communicate with him and I couldnt breath. He ran and got a nurse and the nurse came and was calmly talking to me asking me questions and I couldnt answer her. I was obviously in distress and I was very panicked. She said “I cant help you unless you tell me whats going on” I was in the emergency room already when I got the IV. I literally cannot remember much afterwards because I passed out and was so sleepy when I woke up. Terrible terrible terrible time.
IMO each ward/facility needs a phone drop-box, linked to staff keypass. Submit start of shift, access with pass during breaks. No need or excuse for having personal phones on your person whilst on shift.
As a nurse I can tell you I wouldn't trust 90% of the others that went to class with me with a patient. Not even a minor cut. They're ableist, homophobic, ageist, disgusting young ppl. We had a seminar on how to deal with death & the patients family in a case of death; some of the other students called suicidal patients in crisis 'selfish & annoying'. It will never get into my head why 'people' like this even get into the medical care fiel in the first place. Imagine dying in hospital while they're on shift - disgusting. I hope they aren't allowed to work with patients ever again!
Obviously not all are like that, I don't want to scare any of you. @@celuler22 Here in germany you usually get paid minimum wage for that job. Most people here who work that job do it because it's an easy job to get. But ppl like that will eventually lose all empathy or motivivation for the job, if they ever had it to begin with. Which is obviously unfair & perhaps even dangerous to the patients, as seen above.

@@ZarathustraCalicothey also may prevent family or friends from seeing and/or staying with you due to 1. mental health/being too vulnerable (in this case, the nurses SHOULD’VE been watching on this boy given that he wanted to k*ll himself and was vulnerable) and 2. timed “family visits/times” (limiting hours/allowing guests at certain times) which also means they should’ve been watching him at a closer eye.
Long time ago the family were required to be with them in the hospital at all times and had to witness their surgery. I wish they hadn't quit doing that.
Doctor said I could stay one more night after giving birth, as I wasn't feeling strong enough to go home. I used to live with a nurse. She once scoffed at me as she condescendingly declared that we don't feel pain in our organs. I looked at her incredulously as I listed multiple conditions with painful organs. She just rolled her eyes at me. Sadly, I feel like I've met a similar level of ignorance and arrogance amongst most of the medical staff who have treated me throughout my lifetime. It's as if they assume that everyone is a hypochondriac and especially if they're visibly unwell/wounded. There is clearly a them and us type issue being bred throughout medical professionals.
My sis in law told me how she was getting trained to take care of the elderly. She told me that there was a colleague that didn't clean the thermometer that they put under the tongue of elderly patients. She told him that they are supposed to clean them and he told her that they wouldn't know anyways.
Why on earth are they still using glass mercury thermometers ? They are SO dangerous, that nobody should be using them any more. Particularly with elderly patients. Its far safer using a tympanic thermometer. If they are not doing even the most basic task properly, i dont have much faith in them

I completely agree. My brother was on life support (ECMO) for nearly a month and from then onwards was in ICU recovering for another 2 months. Im so sorry for the lack of compassion and professionalism you’ve all encountered we aren’t all like that, it’s the new breed coming in. They have all these “new” schools that don’t teach accurately nor the simple basics or nursing. GOD bless you and I pray that your next hospital experience is better than the one expressed in your comment.
Thank you for your time and help to all those you have come across. I agree that it is much less common to find a young nurse who isn't just going through the paces/charting and completely ignoring the human they are in care of.
Oh it’s definitely not all nurses When my dad crashed his bike in a race he broke all six ribs on one side in twelve places you could hear them grinding against one another when we had to get him out the van at the hospital, I ran in asking if they had a wheel chair and explained what had happened, and I was met with a miserable receptionist who was completely disinterested. Anyway long story short we had to wait for 4 hours to see anyone when we finally saw a doctor he was furious it had taken that long as my dad had internal bleeding, he spend the next week in the ICU and said that you couldn’t fault the nurses in there, said they were worth their wait in gold. It seems to be the only ones that people have issues with are the A and E nurses who couldn’t care less how much pain your in.
Well those nurses will find themselves in hell and damnation and will have to answer for their attitude and lack of compassion plus their lies too. They may not think about it now. But when they are old I'm age. The threat of hell becomes very much real

I’m so scared of this with my dogs… health care for animals humans too is awful and in scared to go to doctors/vets for my pets and myself. It has been awful previously for us too… thankfully nothing has ever happened but I fear it. Brings me great anxiety
I am so sorry for your immense loss. 😢 I hope you are at least able to take them to court so maybe they won't do this to another person's pet. there are mistakes, which are human, but then there is pure negligence. one of those is unacceptable and I hope the vets pay for what they did and you are able to find some comfort in it.
The nurse tasked with discharging patients tried to send my dad home to an empty house even though he lacked the strength to even sit up in bed. She lied and said he could get out of bed and was sitting in a chair. Another member of staff quietly spoke to a palliative care nurse who thankfully got involved. She managed to get him placed into a care home for the last week of his life where he was far more comfortable. He also had to remain in that hospital for another two weeks longer because he had lesions caused by bedsores which caused an infection. They lied when I kept asking them if he was being turned frequently. If you have a loved one in hospital keep a very close eye on the care that they receive and ask plenty of questions. I feel sorry for the good staff having to work around some of the most uncaring people I have ever met.
My daughter, whom was 4 at the time, had a seizure out and stopped breathing for 2 minutes before she was resuscitated. When she got to the ER, her fever spiked to 104 (she literally just had a life threatening seizure when her temp was only 100.8) and the nurses were sitting at the nurses station laughing and gossiping instead of getting her meds. It took over an hour just to get her some ibuprofen to get her fever down. She should’ve been dosed the second she arrived. To top it off, the doctor brushed it off and said “well it’s normal for it to LOOK like they’re not breathing for about 10 seconds or so” sir, she didn’t LOOK like anything, she DID STOP breathing and MRI showed a few months later that she suffered minor brain damage from it. Thankfully not enough to have an effect on her!
I’m so sorry you had to go through that. It must be INFURIATING to see nurses that wont even give your child some ibuprofen. I hope everything goes well for you and no more seizures occur for your little angel 🙏🙏
I’m so sorry to hear that I’m glad she’s here with you today. I couldn’t imagine the wrath I would’ve unleashed hearing someone saying my child not breathing is “normal”
Exactly how it was when I worked in the hospital. Although I was a HCA which is what this young man should have had, someone in the room with him to supervise 24/7. Many times I have had to listen to the Nurses laughing in the Nursing station while a patient is slowly dying in front of me. Eventually they get tired of hearing how sick their own patient is and start to take 20-30minutues to answer the call bell while they laugh on their phones like I don't know their voice, they do each others hair, massage each other, do their nails and so on. They are acutely aware of their responsibilities and chose to ignore them in favor of "having fun". Needless to say I don't work there anymore.

Got thrown into a psych ward for trying to kill myself. The medical staff there are all terrible people. Nurses laze around and gossip. You’re stuffed into a room and no one talks to you for 24 hours at a time, but every 15 minutes they open the door and slam it just to make sure you’re not dead. The food tastes like burnt rubber, everyone’s crying or just walking around with a glazed over look. Shrinks tell you that you can’t leave, and you truly can’t. You share a bathroom with a stranger, and the door is always open and unlocked. So if you have to go, everyone’s gonna hear it. You’re locked in the ward, only to walk around (that’s the only thing you can do) until weeks pass and they finally let you go. It’s prison there. You don’t get stabbed or rxped, but the isolation is unlike anything I’ve ever experienced. I was more traumatized by the ward than almost ending my life. It’s a terrible place that no one should have to go to, especially the mentally ill. I remember feeling more like a lab rat in there than a person. They strip you of all of your dignity. They take away your hope. And then they charge you 10,000 dollars.
Oh my gosh seriously!!! I had the stomach virus while I was in there and it was right around this time 5 years ago. I'm in a much better place than I was then, BUT it was so traumatizing to be in there and have not one bit of true privacy and having visitor restrictions the way they did when i needed my family and friends most. And then to top it off with vomiting nonstop from the stomach flu. It was terrible. When I think back on it, it just feels so dark and sad. The nurses there were more responsible than the video but it didn't feel like anyone genuinely cared. I live in the US. We need to do better and things need to change. And why is it so freaking expensive?? I just don't understand.

AS A NURSE FOR MORE THAN 2 DECADES..I APOLOGIZE FOR ALL THE PAIN BAD NURSES HAVE CAUSED TO FAMILIES DUE TO THEIR INCOMPETENCE AND NEGLECT..AND FOR ALL THE HERO NURSES..FILLS MY HEART WITH PRIDE TO BE A NURSE
I am a good nurse, I hate that the other nurses that I have to follow after never look after the small things that help a patient. Like oral care on a patient that is NPO and his mouth is full of nasty crud because he can't clean it himself or drink water to help it. Or talking to a patient who is non-responsive and explaining what you are doing because they might actually be able to hear you. I had one patient who was so good for me and acted out for all the other nurses because I talked to him like a person and helped him to feel cared about. He had a stroke and was hard to understand as well as having schizophrenia, but I remember him telling me, "I like your smile." I could barely understand what he was saying, but that shined through. I kills me that I feel like I have to clean up after lazy nurses. I'm actually leaving my current job because of this.
I personally thank you!!!! I have had a physical disability since age 14. I have had a lifetime of dealing wth Drs & A LOT of nurses. IT IS A CALLING! ANGELS OF MERCY! I have had MANY that should NEVER be in the medical field. Bc of it I have suffered shame, embarrassment, pain, & made to feel as though I would rather be dead. I
This is the state of our NHS today. But those nurses and staff will need medical care at some point in their life, so what goes around comes around. Mobile Phones should be banned from hospitals. Many times I used to see staff blindly walking around with their faces shoved into their phones? No wonder we have long waiting lists, they don't actually get to do any work. This is what being woke and diversity has done, too relaxed, no rules, can't ask anyone to do their job for fear of being accused of hurting their feelings. Higher management don't/won't know how to manage, and the NHS has been politicised and become a leftist organisation .
I went through very bad DT’s from alcohol withdrawal-bpm of 183 resting and climbing, violent tremors, hearing music in the fans, hearing conversations in the room when I was alone. My nurse for the night got a call on her phone while she was checking on me and said, “a tequila sounds nice right now.” I was left alone again and my heart rate was climbing back up, she shot the door open and said “what the hell is wrong with you?” safe to say I never went back to that hospital. I thought I was going to die, I could have died, and this nurse was annoyed with taking care of me.
I'm so sorry, I've experienced so many traumatic hospital visits and had seizures from benzodiazepine withdrawal which is basically the same type of withdrawal as alcohol and can kill you and almost killed me a few times(I refused to call for help once & spent 2 days in a psychosis while vomiting and had a seizure at home and was temporarily blind scared to death but have no trust in them)...I'm so scared and don't trust the ppl in the medical field so much that I refuse to even go to the hospital or call an ambulance unless I'm literally dying(now even after that episode and since but will go only if life or death bc I'm so scared) which is why half of those things happened to me and it's to the point where I won't even go to the doctor other than my psychiatrist only bc it's absolutely necessary and he actually listens to me and is kind and understanding but otherwise I'm so done with doctors and hospitals which isn't good at all but I'm terrified bc they dgaf and just let ppl suffer and die while chit chatting and playing on their phones... when my fiance passed away in bed next to me while I was asleep the EMTs wouldn't even do anything to try to save him and I could go on and on but it's terrible I can't take care of my physical health and can barely take care of my mental health (just enough to not unalive myself) bc of the medical system, including pharmacies... they're terrible too and dgaf....and it's not just me, my boyfriend is the same way and so many other people I talked to especially when you're in addiction or alcoholism bc they don't look at us as ppl and are treated so inhumanly like the elderly are as well and it's just so scary....I'm praying for you, your comment stood out to me although I can relate to many, I understand what you went through and it's horrific...I'm so sorry, please pray for me and my boyfriend...he is having major kidney stones and swelling and heart problems and has been passed around in the medical field for three years now and no one will actually help or find a solution and I'm so afraid of losing him....I already lost my fiance a few years ago and I can't go through that again plus I have my own health problems and I'm not even 40 yet ....we live scared and don't know where to turn for actual help... can't even work and don't get disability or anything...I'm shaking with anxiety as I type...I hope you are doing better 🙏🏻😢😭💯
My Grandma was in a hospice for cancer patients she got a bad nurse ,they wouldn't let me feed her said I had to leave so I watch her from the window outside ,they brought soup in and left not even helping to feed her knowing she couldn't lift up the spoon then came back in 5 mins later and took it away so they pretty much starved her in her last days .I complained about what I saw and wasnt aloud back in. Its disgusting how people are treated and they get away with it all I wanted to do was do a better job than them it just takes that one nasty karen to destroy shouldn't be in that line of work if thats how you treat someone its sickening!
I’m sorry for your loss and for your experience with those nurses. I don’t know if this information will help you at all, but my understanding is that it’s not good to feed someone who is that close to the end because it makes the process more difficult on their bodies.
I’m a RN, and it’s sad to say you are right. ☹️ A lot of these nurses are sorry AF, I use to get so burnt out from answering other nurse’s call lights while they sat and IGNORED them. 😒
My daughter is an RN. She became a nurse because she loves people and is truly nurturing. I pray nurses stop becoming desensitized and connect with the reason they became a nurse. People are in need.
At times I believe they take the job because of the pay not because it means something to them to be a nurse. I’ve seen way too much negative activities going on during their duties.
Some people shouldn't be nurses. When I was in labor, I had a nurse take my blood and leave it on the counter until it went bad and then they had to take more blood from me and repeated it. Left it on the counter to go bad. The third time I pointed to the counter and asked if it was just gonna end up with the others. I didn't see that nurse the rest of my labor.
My mum was in hospital with lung cancer, needed to be on oxygen. During the night she got up to use the toilet. She accidently locked herself in, panicked and pulled the emergency. Even other people in the bed shouted for help... She didn't get any for AGES. she lost blood and went blue. This all led her into ICU and then lost her life a few days later. At an NHS hospital... The person on shift who neglected her, had no repercussions.
@@getoverit1656 For one, the staff should not have taken her off oxygen... Secondly she needed the toilet for christ sake. The staff desk was right in front of the toilet too. That means, no staff were there, and she was left in there for a WHILE... No it wasn't her fault. Even funnier thing is, she was told her cancer was not fast acting and wasn't going anywhere, just 2 weeks before she was admitted. Why was she admitted in the first place? She was in pain all the time.. Visited the same GP and he told her to take some co-codamol.. Also, when the paramedics came, they didn't even want to admit her until they took her oxygen levels. There were alot of failings , for one person. Can only imagine all the failings to others. And this was all the same hospital.

My mom was a nurse, she went back to school at 40 years old to help support us through college. She took her job seriously and always worked hard. She studied nursing informatics after working in the ICU for 2 years and works from home now. She got out of nursing and dealing with this asap.
Hey where in this video is the kid trying to kill himself? Also. It seems there’s someone else already helping what are those girls going to do? We all know for the most part they are useless? 😅
Worked as housekeeping in a nursing home. The amount of times I would hear a buzzer/light going off from a patients rooms as they waited for someone to help them, only for the RNAs to not move from their central desk was astounding. We weren’t allowed to touch or help the residents either. I remember having to take a couple out to smoke every day and praying that they didn’t slip in ice. They loved to gossip too. Got accused of stealing money from one of the residents. Apparently asking the guy to check his pockets never occurred to them. They were just so excited to spread the word. 🙄
Times have changed too much. I remember when there was a matron in charge, and she was very good at making nuses work hard. They had to listen to her and do as they were told or else they would be fired from there job. Hospitals need to employ matrons again, then patients would be listened to. I would lose my temper if I was in hospital and was being ignored. I would make an official complaint.
As a nurse this Just makes my blood boil, we are as mad as the familiars when a patient die due to the incompetence of a coworker and we get even more mad when they keep doing the same without any consequence, i've filled complains against some of my coworkers yet they still working regardless of how unprofesional they are
I was just about to make a comment similar to yours about my niece who recently graduated from nursing school. Unlike most of her classmates, she is a dedicated, empathetic, concerned person AND nurse. She was a single mom going through a complicated divorce, raising a pre-teen and toddler and had brain surgery while still taking her last few classes to graduate. She would get really upset with fellow students who didn’t care to be scoring high as possible on tests but rather we’re happy to pass with a C Minus! With that said… who would you prefer to be your attending nurse at the worst possible time in your life?!

Of a class of around 23 only 5 of us have any genuine passion for providing effective care in the industry. Healthcare training has the unfortunate stigma of being easy (which I see the point, compared to something like biology it's far easier). Couple that and the fact it has low uptake at gcse and a level, it a sponge of the dross of our education system, compounded by the NHS and other private services increasingly lowered standards as the NHS tries to meet demands, and private services using the cheapest possible employees possible so that they can profit off of the NHS backlog (the latter of which is what probably happened in this case) Also worth noting there is very little incentive to actually being an actually effective carer, with poor pay and giant workloads. TLDR: poor recruitment stock, lower standards, and no incentive to provide good care

In Canada it’s the same, I was in the hospital and this older man came in with his wife bleeding profusely from a gash on his head going in and out of consciousness. When his wife tried to stand up for him and get him help they yelled at her and she yelled back (rightfully so) telling them to do their jobs as this man could have been dying in front of everyone in the waiting room. A bunch of people had to break into the triage station to get towels because he was bleeding through the towels brought from home and all over the floor. From the waiting room we could see beds open so it’s not like they were waiting for spots to open up
Er just because there are beds doesn't mean they have the staff to attend them. I know most people don't understand this but especially in Canada there is a severe nursing shortage lol.
@@twigsno I know that Canada has a nurse shortage but that means people with broken bones or ear infections etc take longer to be admitted/treated. Not an elderly man losing consciousness from bleeding out of a large gash on his head
I've spent two months in hospital after my major accident in the 90s the nurses was incredibly hardworking and attention to detail but now I was just home from the hospital, it is worse than it were the 90s. The nurses were all mixed foreigners and I couldn't even read the writing of my name or number of tablets on the prescription pack I were supposed to take at home.
Just got my finger stitched up last week after nearly cutting it off. I was in a checkup room for nearly an hour before a "doctor" came to stitch it up, where I proceeded to wait another hour for another person to come back to stop the bleeding and clean up the blood that was everywhere. The entire time, they were in another room together all on their phones and texting. All the meanwhile there was someone slumped over, who looked as if they were dead, in the waiting room still "waiting" to even be checked on. Keep in mind this was the Emergency section of the hospital. US healthcare is terrible these days, and the lack of professionalism is obvious.
This isn't specific to the US. The US technically has amongst the best performance in the world. It's universal, the product of unionization combined with government interference and subsidisation. When there's no risk of getting fired, there's no reason to work.
Idk about nurses but you are very wrong about doctor schedules especially ER doctors if you think they're just sitting around on their phones texting while patients are having crises. I used to work in a surgical dept, they are constantly working even when not attending patients.
@@marvin2678 Look at Canada if you want to see how universal healthcare works. MAID applied to everyone who is a "useless eater". Though this problem at least conceptually can result just solely from heavy unionization and isn't specific to universal healthcare.

Was admired into the hospital since I had an allergic reaction to my chemo and it took a nurse 12-14 hours to come in the room and check on me.

I had a lovely nurse when I got stabbed in my arm. I was drunk. She was vary good. Had to stitch up muscle and skin. She was amazing.
What is house sup? Any keywords or titles we should know when dealing w / nurses like this? You mentioned calling the doc..could any patient say this?

Nit all patients have the know hiw and access you have to get things done when you are hospitalized. I'm 67yrs old and have been in the hospital alot and believe me when I say it is a nightmare. Avoid a hospital stay at all cost. It is a shame to say, but it frightens me when I get sick to think I night have to go to the hospital and be admitted.
They are not hospitals but death camps , the so called nurses and doctors have absolutely no empathy with either the patients or families……

What a waste of a career
Do they assess how good their bedside manners are? Or do they let in just about anyone that they can get?

This is true. I know 3 nurses in my life. Mother, older sibling, family friend. All of them are horrible people. The way they treat their family and some of the things I've heard them say with confidence... I would not recommend anyone under their care :(
I thought I was having a heart attack after major abdominal surgery. I called a nurse for 2 hours. No one came.

I saw the same during my friend's stay at a rehabilitation and nursing home in Queensbury NY.
CNAs do the most work for the patience, while the RN and LPN sit around. CNAs get paid less
Mate, Animal Veternarians are also Psychopaths. ANYONE in the medical industry has a high chance of being one.
I am so sorry that you were not cared for humanely. That is messed up
@sphynxkittens5894 My general experiences were amazing. Two or three of those experiences I want to be around as the choir sings so I could pin the wings in myself. It is an understatement to say it is my favorite profession.
Check out the Maya Kowalski trial she just won a case against john Hopkins for abuse... her mom killed her self because they medically imprisoned her.
We don’t actually need to be with the patients 100% of the time… unless there is a clear indication of failure to care (ie they had reason to believe he was imminently at risk and therefore should have been spécialed 1:1) I actually don’t think it’s right for people to jump in and blame the nurses right away.
would you say that the good nurses are the ones on strike or is it the lazy ones that do it for the money who are demanding more for less?

Thank you for the information.
Actually that is incorrect, the vast majority of patients in a psych ward are maintained on Q15 minute rounds. Meaning eyes on the patient four times per hour, not constantly. However there are times constant monitoring (1:1 observation) is required.
@Fuhrious are you regarded or just spreading misinformation for the bit?
@@JG1rn that’s very true, however in this specific case not accurate. The guy was actually on a special ward in a specific room
as a high suicide risk and wasn’t meant to be left alone for more than a couple minuets at a time.

20 year old Bren suffered a history of mental health issues.

Management didn't even investigate the issue 🤷🏽♂️

True. The health care industry must be desperate for help - they will hire anyone. I worked in rehab and retirement homes in the 80s and 90s mostly we had good teams, but things have changed.

This is horrible I’m so sorry
And what did you do about it?
Long story short, they tried to revive him for 15 minutes, didn't work. They kept his body in a bag without a freezer (since they didn't have one) for 10 hours because they wanted me to pay the full bill and only released him after I called the cops. The hospital is still up and only being used to socialize with "elites" as they're owned by a former mayor in my country. I couldn't sue, I don't have the money for it... My friends sister committed suic*de after the patient she was assigned to committed suicide because she thought it was her fault for not helping enough, she was fairly new and cared too much about patients so whenever a patient was rude or yelled at her she always blamed herself, soon it got too much and then her Patient took his own life, that was her last straw, she would always let other people's misery get to her.

dealt with some vets like this . their incompetence and lack of focus led to my dog dying ...ate a cloth toy started displaying signs of a intestinal blockage. wasnt pooping or eating , took him to vet they did xrays afer i told them of my suspicions..sent me home with naeusa meds and was assured everything was fine...another week goes by spoon feeding him chicken broth to give him some strength as he wasnt eating or pooping still when back to same vet ,,,they looked again assured me it wasnt a blockage more xrays.. anorther week goes by im freking out at this point hes so weak..... went to another vet they called the 1st vet for stomach the xrays from first vet....told them what i thought it was....i then learned the xrays were for his throat never did a stomach one...they immediately go into sugery as there was a block age in his intesinal tract . he pulled throuugh but died on the revcovery table as he was too weak to heal... therye lack of focus and igorance was directly responible for his passing ...a feeling the video is dealing with the same kind of issue by staff incompetence
That american for you 💀
I'm so sorry for the loss of your baby. It hurts so badly but just remember they are with you now. They are one of your angels. ❤🐾
@ogueyratogeyrat7448 that's * imbecile
I am so sorry for the trauma this must have given you, your daughter and your family. 🫂❤
I suffer from epilepsy and stop breathing for long periods of time. I've even turned purple then blue apparently. They just say its 'normal'
Did you report them?
But what If they do it. To not feel bad for the patients?
@@earthwhitehousespiritualwa6631no they're women they do it because they are lazy in their responsibilities and duties. They also choose to ignore responsibilites because they would rather roleplay staying at a spa than do their own damn job as a rn.

Best wishes for strength and healing❤.
I noticed stuff like this and worse in the psych ward. Actually all these stories r so dreadful im ashamed to b a nurse

You worded this feeling so perfectly… I can’t even think about my time in there. I have to block it out every day just to move on

I hate those kind of people they shouldn’t be a nurse if they don’t have empathy
God bless you and the lady above my comment!! You make the world a better place and I hope you get the appreciation you deserve!!

That can definitely kill you. Should have been giving you meds to keep you lower
If they banned me for complaining about that I would have called the law and removed her. Never be bullied.
I am so sorry for your loss 💔
I’m sorry for your loss and for your experience with those nurses. I don’t know if this information will help you at all, but my understanding is that it’s not good to feed someone who is that close to the end because it makes the process more difficult on their bodies.
I heard the same thing. They aren’t starving, they’re just going threw the death process.
You should’ve been told that so the nurse was wrong there.
All hospice does it try to get you dead as quickly as possible so they can get new dying people in.

Sad and true .
You raised her right goodman
At times I believe they take the job because of the pay not because it means something to them to be a nurse. I’ve seen way too much negative activities going on during their duties.
"Hi, I'm planet Earth have we met?"
It's hard. Healthcare doesn't allow for human connections anymore. The best nurses I know are burnt out and can't care anymore
Your daughter's vapes I work with her that's shocking really
Enh sounds like your mom's fault

As a nurse I find this behaviour disgusting. I barely have time to sit and write my notes, let alone braid hair. Shameful! As soon as that uniform goes on, it’s no longer about me, it’s about other’s!

Of a class of around 23 only 5 of us have any genuine passion for providing effective care in the industry.
Healthcare training has the unfortunate stigma of being easy (which I see the point, compared to something like biology it's far easier). Couple that and the fact it has low uptake at gcse and a level, it a sponge of the dross of our education system, compounded by the NHS and other private services increasingly lowered standards as the NHS tries to meet demands, and private services using the cheapest possible employees possible so that they can profit off of the NHS backlog (the latter of which is what probably happened in this case)
Also worth noting there is very little incentive to actually being an actually effective carer, with poor pay and giant workloads.
TLDR: poor recruitment stock, lower standards, and no incentive to provide good care
You should find the management of where you work disgusting.

We can have mobiles in our pockets for emergencies.
From the waiting room we could see beds open so it’s not like they were waiting for spots to open up
Well keep in mind, this is the same country who would rather offer you assisted suicide than build you a wheelchair ramp
