Just a tip, when knocking in the rear posts, use a piece of wood between the hammer and posts so you don't hit metal against metal to stop any damage.👍
Hi congratulations for your very nice creation I have the feeling that most of the good sound is due to the very nice woofer Imhe to find a good sounding tweeter is not very difficult especially for 2kHz up But woofers ... the very good ones are very very expensive But in the end they fix the max performance obtainable The limit of the performance Woofers are the secret of great sound Thanks a lot and kind regards, gino
Tharbamar it is Ok! but in the future you have to practise more 🙂 if you like doing this. I have done in the past several sets of speakers (vinyl) usually with gloss black. If done correctly nobody will notice 😉
My only concern is that with the placement of your crossover, the inductor is a bit too close to the speaker magnet of the woofer. It looks to me like there will be some negative interaction.
I would really like to try this, but getting this to Denmark i think will add a lot to the overall cost. Gotta think about it :) I was tempted to try the Kef ls50 meta. You looked at the shipping cost i think it will be a hard pass :) Estimated shipping $1,040.25
Although you inserted the crossovers and said that you mounted them, it seems to me to be difficult to secure the crossovers via the woofer opening once you have the panels glued together. Just how did you secure the two crossovers? Just from observation, it would seem easier to secure the crossovers before gluing the panels together. The rest of the assembly is easy to understand. In addition, the gray vinyl wrapping showed some wrinkles on the side as you were installing them. Did you get those wrinkles out by just wiping the surface with the microfiber cloth?
They were harder to build than it seems. Make sure you have the appropriate clamps, line up the cabinet properly for a tight fit, and work out the slip-on connectors at the end of the midrange and twitter leads to the appropriate speaker terminals, which have different sizes. Unfortunately CSS doesn't include extras in case you mess up.
Hello Mr. Tharbamar. I just wondering, Did you put some of the eggrate foam in the tweeter chamber after the brace? I mean the top and sidewalls to where the port tube and tweeter is located.
Told you mate you need some Blu-Tack around the driver's as a gasket 4-5mm beading doesn't matter for driver sticks out a little bit on both its like banging my head against the wall
Hello. I'm a big fan of your work and passion for music. I also have the wharfedale evo 4.2 as the only speakers. I love their musical cinematic sound. After buying them I didn't have much money left for a good amp but luckily I found a yamaha ax-930 at around 150$ from a fellow passionate. She's old but she performs quite astonishing. The only thing it lacks is power, it kinda fails to drive the speakers at very low freq and they start clipping. I raised some money and found a Denon pma 2010ae for 800$. My question is: Do you think it's that much of an upgrade to drive the speakers properly? Thank you for some feedback and may you be in good health and keep up the good content. Kind regards!
Good work! Will you be making any adjustments to it, in the future? I.e. some tweeters are deliberately uncoupled from the front baffle, would there be a way of doing this if you thought it was worth it?
Thar, I'm in the market for a set of bookshelves with a budget of $1500.. what would be your very best suggestion? Maybe a review of yours I can watch? Thanks
$549 for a speaker you have to build yourself? It better sound better than all other speakers you can buy at the same price. Not sure what the appeal here is if the sound isn't much better than other $500 speakers.
@Prepare to Meet Thy Pnoom, We are talking about speaker with sound quality and performance comparable to $2-3k speakers, not in $500 class. I can't even listen to any speakers in $500 price range except for a few.
@@Tharbamar yes! they dont seem to understand its a $2000 sounding speaker for $500! also you wont find a high quality crossover in any $500 speaker on the market that comes close to the upgraded xover you built..
@@preparetomeetthypnoom9201 You should see what's in a $500 retail speaker lol. Most DIY kits have higher quality parts than speakers with the same price due to not having to pay for finishing. But you don't get into DIY speakers for the cost/performance ratio anyways. Just hunt down used/estate sales and get yourself some $15k speakers for $1-2k. I was thinking the same thing 😃

Seriously, these speakers are a beauty!! If they sound as good as they look you have a killer!!

If you are seeing that at our site it is an error. You be able to get it via USPS for about $225 or so with the flat pack.

Oh I thought I had it in there but I don’t remember it anymore and I no longer have the speakers.
No worries thanks!
Thar, Did you consider rounding over the box corners?
I didn't because it'll be harder to veneer but I did refinished it, thanks

Those look great! Did the MDF cabinet pieces come pre-cut? Or you bought MDF and cut yourself? Sorry if I missed that from before.
Yes they all come in precut.
