Harbor Freight has been upping their game. I have been in the industry for nearly 30 yrs. I have the Snap-on, Mac , Matco & Cornwell tools along with some older Craftsman AND some Harbor Freight. As long as it does the job who cares what name is on it. And when you get into the 3/4” and up stuff I have not found the truck brands to be any better. Just my opinion, keep doing what ya like and enjoy.
I'm a fan of harbor freight. I use their tools everyday and, while some of the things they sell is complete garbage, there are many tools that are well worth the money. I live in southern Idaho and since its winter, I'm in the shop repairing semis, 10 wheelers and various types of tractors. They hold up to what I do. I love the Pittsburg pro ratchets, I beat on the half inch drive and it doesn't miss a beat. Definitely recommend those.
I have. Snap on krl, a Milwaukee 46 top and bottom. And have looked at the harbor freight ones and they compare to my krl as far as quality they feel exactly the same and will be the next big box I get. The Milwaukee isn't even on the same level as the hf boxes.
I buy my stuff from snap on cash I dont understand how people cant afford to buy good tools i mean these tools pay me 52$ an hour and 104$ an hour after 40 hours if ther break they fix it or replace it for free lol I never believed in snap on until i started professionally
Same thought but europ style 👍i'm working manly on Bikes and Cars and for 2000€ i can get 4/5 of my whole Shop while a friend got a big tolbox and a ratcht Set in 3/8" 🤯 And If He needs a 22mm Hex f.e. he's Always on my doorstep to borrow it🤣
I have a buddy who’s a mechanic, he bought 2 snap on jacks he paid around 2k for both and one leaked all the hydraulic fluid and the other one somehow bent and now it’s not leveled with the ground. He ended up buying 2 Daytona jacks, he said they work as good as the old ones and for a cheaper price.
Snap On sued Hft because of the Daytona jacks. They said the jacks were copies of theirs. Hft won because they proved that their jacks were made in the same factory as the Snap On jacks, and that's why they look nearly identical.
There's nothing wrong with most harbor freight tools over the years they've improved a lot I strated my welding business on there tools I couldn't afford anything else now I've upgrade to Lincoln ranger but without harbor freight I wouldn't be where I am today I totally support them
I have the US General 44 inch roller base, the side cabinet & side locker and top chest, also in extreme green. All just under 1.1k for all of it, with tax. Love it! I'm an extreme green fan as well. Nice quality products from HF. Daytona jacks are great too!
I think the HF boxes are a great value also. I just wish they were deeper. 22" limits you where you can put your long handle ratchets, pry bars, extensions, etc. I wish they would come out with 30: deep drawers.
New subscriber. Been watching you for a bit now. Enjoy the "rant" in this video. Lol i feel the same way as many ppl here commenting do. My boss sometimes grabs my harbor freight tools like my new doyle pliers and is impressed by the quality lol. Cant go wrong paying half the price and does the same job! 🤷♂️
If you haven’t done it yet, speaking from experience, get the 56” top and bottom to start with, especially if you’re using it everyday. I have a 44” and wanted the 56” but decided “not to spend the money” but within a week I wanted just a bit more space in a “main” box but lived with it in ‘my’ shop. Fast forward a year and a new full time job in a shop and clearly needed the main drawers wider. I’m still struggling out of the 44” box. I held off because I was thinking I was just having ‘bigger-itus’ but no. As a daily used box in a shop, you just need that space. In summary? I haven’t gained any or wanted any tools- but my drawers are jammed with things like wrenches laying over other wrenches. Not efficient and hard to tell when you missed putting something away which are two main reasons for having a box to begin with. Sure, there’s probably plenty of mechanics that need more than that 56” but I think it is a minimum. While I do have a six-foot thirty inch deep bottom for parts, supplies, pullers, etc there is great merit to having a strictly hand tools box with everything available.
I have looked into these box also. I TOTALLY agree that locking drawers is pretty annoying on a chest. That leaves me with the 44" and down box choices right????
I got a 55” snap on box with 2 tool sets so basically all the tools I’ll need to fill it up I’m a diesel mechanic so I just went with snap on that being said I had a 30” us general and it worked great for 6 nearly 7 months but then a truck driver smashed it 😂😂 going to be getting another there roll carts are really nice and since I normally keep them near a semi they get damaged a lot so there’s no point in buying a Snap-On or blue point roll cart I truly believe when it comes to roll carts that as long as it holds the tools the brand don’t matter I 100% recommend the us general roll cart 🤷🏽♂️
I have 2 of the husky 46" tool box workbenches right now. I'm planning on upgrading to a few green us general 44" and maybe a few 26" boxes. I'm wanting to build them into a workbench to go across the back wall of my garage.
Harbor Freight is a good place to buy if you know what you can and can't get away with. The boxes (amazing), jacks, lights works great (I know I'm missing somethings). If you start getting into other things like bearing pullers, hose clamps and so on you need a better quality. I'm not saying go buy snap on or matco just need to buy something a little more durable. Anyways your shop is looking good
I hear ya man on the boxxes. I just picked up a 44" Harbor Freight top chest and put it on top of my Matco 72" triple bank. Great deal for a good top chest.
Good video! - The US General boxes are amazing for the cost. I use quite a few of them of varying sizes in my garage and barn. They do not get rolled around much and I always am careful with loading / opening / closing them. If I didn't have a Harbor Freight nearby my next choice would be the Milwaukee boxes at Home Depot. They are high quality for little cost. If I was making my living I'd probably invest in a good used tool truck brand box given that it would get abused more but that's not how I make my money so I don't need it. - I'd rather spend the saved money on tool boxes on more hand / power / speciality tools and ones of better quality. - I have bought good used Mac / Snap On tech carts. I take all the tools I need in a tech cart and move it to the job. When I'm done for the day it just gets rolled into the corner again. When I'm done with the job entirely it's emptied out again. A few of mine have been modified with pneumatic casters so they can be easily taken outside if needed. I prefer the carts with the sliding tops instead of the lift up top. The US General ones are nice but until they make a sliding top similar to the Mac I'll only buy the Mac.
Used is one way to do it, but the HF boxes don’t lack on longevity. Just their weight alone shows they’re above the retail-level boxes you mention. Like the Milwaukee box you mentioned: some nice features but more cheaply made than us general by weight imho.
Would that 26in box bolt up to a 44in box the same way as you’ve bolted the 44s together? Ive got a 44 at work that’s about to overflow and I’m looking to get a 26 and copy your style of setup. Would love their 72 but I don’t think I’d like the side locks on each drawer. I’ve heard you mention that bothering you as well
Hello again Justin If I heard you correctly, you wanted to save money on Toolboxes. Why didn't you buy the Yukon boxes? For what brought in tool boxes, you could afford more tools. Just thinking out loud. Otherwise, thank you for the Great Video.

I ripped them out of my tool cart the first 20 mins I had it. Like these tool reviews videos keep em comin
I like those on the cart because you can push it around the shop on uneven floors with the lid open and not worry about drawers tipping out. It's less important on the big boxes because they tend to stay in one spot.
I got the 44" one, having troubles with on of the drawers I dont know what is wrong but I am going to get the 56" one and add to it. so I will have more tool storage.
Overtime Garage yes sir, i exchanged one my 64 piece socket and ratchet set under warranty out for a whole new set last month because one of the ratchets failed after 3 years, and they come with 6 points, but yesterday I checked out the same set and in the pictures it shows that all the sockets are 12 point now so I’m curious as to if you get lucky and pick up an “older set” and it’ll have the 6 points still. Either way I ended up going to Home Depot and picked up a 200 piece socket set for $60 and they have all the sockets I need, only downside is that the 1/2” sockets are all 12 point, but harbor freight Pittsburgh impact sockets are all 6 point so that should be good, either way sorry for the rant, keep up the video!
