I have to admit I was always put off by the Spyderco Trademark Round Hole. However, I am now a convert. 3 months ago I purchased a PARA-MILITARY2 CAMO G-10 ~ C81GCMO2, that is hands-down the very best folder I have ever owned. From the blade design, the steel, the scales, the lock mechanism, the pocket clip, everything about this knife is absolutely top-notch and phenomenal! This is one of their USA made blades, which I also appreciate and was a major factor in my purchase. As to the "Hole," I love it. Much easier to use than a stud of some sort sticking out to get snagged on a pocket. Kudos to a great company.

Sal,Gail and Eric are some of the nicest people I have ever had the pleasure to meet in this business. They support America and the American serviceman and women quietly and without fanfare or self promotion and as a vet I am proud to buy their products anytime I can. I have dealings with their staff also from time to time and the philosophy of this family is evident in the rest of their employees. A class operation top to bottom who stand behind their products.

His metaphor at the end there about marriage really says so much to me about where his heart and soul are at with these knives. I think Sal must feel in his mind that knives are as individual in their form, design and use as the people who use them, that he imparts a human aspect to the knives he makes, or thinks of them as people (or maybe vice versa).

Thanks for this great interview. I went over to the Spyderco forum to ask a question about the construction of my new Cara Cara 2. Within a few hours, Sal Glesser himself posted a personal welcome message to me. What other company owner can you say that about?

eqlzr2 There are some good people over there at Spyderco.

    •  6 лет назад

they are overpriced as it is, you want them to hire the few Mexicans left here to make them and charge a 75% premium? No vets will be able to afford them, maybe a few corrupted policemen could. That said, some of the Byrd knives have shitty hardware and I couldn't even clean and oil them so I guess I am stuck with voidless lifetime warranty. lol.

Made my day! I saw my original Spyderco clipit delica in the opening credits. Have had it for 30 plus years. Had a buddy at work that said he could get a good deal on Spyderco knives. I had never heard of them but signed on for one. When he said they were $32 I almost fainted. That was a lot for a folder back then. Have never regretted it, and has been my EDC ever since. In fact, when my oldest son got married, he asked me for gift ideas for his wedding party. I got them all a Spyderco knife and they were thrilled. I have a few more now and use them constantly. Great video.

As someome who was always scared off by the price of entry and maintained a "just as good" mentality, I never appreciated Spyderco. An expensive knife with a hole in it... how wrong I was!
After getting my first real Spyderco past month and using it daily without holding back (breaking down heavy cardboard, food prep, cutting plastic, etc) I am ashamed that it took me this long to realize how great they really are.
Form over function in the form of an absolutely perfect utilitarian cutting tool.
I started with a Sage 5, then a Roadie, and now I've got a Manix 2 LW and I love them all. I am hooked and constantly looking for my next Spyderco!
Thank you Sal, Eric, and all of the other great folks at Spyderco for everything you have done!

Considering how much Spyderco has done for the knife industry, they kinda deserve a full fledged documentary.
Like that pocket clip on your knife? Thank Spyderco and Sal.
Like premium steels? Spyderco is one of the companies that spearheaded premium steels as standard.
Like sharp knives? Spyderco has been trying to educate and teach the knife community on proper sharpening for decades.
We definitely have a lot to be thankful for that companies like Spyderco and people like Sal came around. Leading innovators like that helped get us to where we are today.

Charming and informative video. I enjoyed learning about the creation and formation of Spyderco Knives, and hearing it from the founder himself, Sal Glesser. I do own a couple Spydercos currently, but I've owned 5-6 Spydercos in the past.
The thing I like best about Spyderco is their use of strong and durable high end steels that have high Carbon content and high edge retention, particularly VG-10, 154CM, S30V, S60V, S90V, and ZDP-189.

Great video would like to see a full length version including a factory tour. I carry a Spyderco Native g10 my favorite pocket knife of all time.

This is one of those video's I've watched many times already, and just keep coming back to. We need a longer version of this! :)
