- Views are my own and do not reflect my employer's. While I currently am not at Netflix, my past experiences in the animation industry have mainly been either at Netflix, or on projects in collaboration with Netflix. Just wanted to provide some insight for anyone trying to break into the animation / entertainment industry, but keep in mind that everyone's path is going to be different!

I saw the title and immediately dropped everything to watch this video. Thank you so much for sharing your experience!! Definitely going to take notes hehe
Ahh thank you so much and happy to hear this helps!
Hello!! Can you do a video on how you do your film studies to make storyboards...I am an aspiring design student leaning towards story board and concept art. It will be really helpful
That's my dream😍
Same
the slightly angled photo in the background made me angry(;´༎ຶٹ༎ຶ`)🤣
I just wanted to say thank you for all these videos helping us newbies ! :D
Thanks and no prob! I wished to have something like this when I was still trying to break into the industry too! :'D
obsessed with her videos. i took a long break from drawing & now im ready to practice & work hard to pursue animation as a career.
muting my class to watch this video
I want to know the salary range Netflix pays for animators
Thank you so much for this video. I graduated in fine arts but after a couple years, I decided to pursue the visual art development industry. Hearing your story gave me a lot of hope!
Oooh super helpful video!! That bit about making a portfolio while trying to get into the mindset of how an actual employee seems like it should be so obvious but I hadn’t really realized it until you said it, so thank you!!
Does Netflix hire people with degrees in Digital Media? Because that's what I graduated with. At first I thought it was an animation major but it's not. All it is, is just a computer coding major. 90% of my classes are just coding, coding, and coding. There were two classes where we learned animation, both 2D and 3D but we only covered them in a week then went back to coding. I'm gonna be honest with you, I HATE coding because it stresses me out and there's so much content that you gotta memorize and understand. Not to mention that I hate fixing bugs because it's over 1000 lines of code that I gotta read. I wish I could switch my major but I am NOT interested in business, math, science, history, English, and psychology. If someone in the comments can help, please do. I wanna get an animation job, NOT a coding job. I'm scared that if I get hired for a coding job, they might fire me on Day 1, not to mention that I barely passed Advanced Programming class. I'm currently at Amazon warehouse desperately trying to quit that job too. Someone please help, I'm so stressed out
Hello! I’m probably not the best person to talk about this since I don’t really have experience in the field, but you could practice some animation on your own, using free RUclips videos as help. After a bit, you could go for an internship, since that will help improve your resume. The job market is highly competitive, but the arts is something where it isn’t necessarily based on the facts you know; it’s based on your own creativity. With hard work and dedication, you can break into the animation industry.
@@rayne152 Aren't there any start up companies that I can start with?
How are you doing now ?
Thanks for the information. It's so useful!
Thanks! I'm glad it can help!
Thank you so much for such a great advise! Wish you the best, hope you & your loved ones are safe & doing well
Thank so much for this, I really need a boost to focus on my work
Thanks so much for this. Bravo with your career. I know how hard you have had to work as I see that in my daughter. My daughter is expected to teach herself anatomy, perspective and Film Storyboarding because her University only teachers Theatre. All that student debt for nothing. Any advice please. You can see my daughters Art on my channel. I would love your thoughts on her beautiful Bookworm Character. Does Netflix do any apprenticeships? Or do they liaise with Universities to support students to get the career they deserve?
My daughter should not be expected to give up on who she is. Melody is a Artist, Storyteller, Singer and Musician. If I cannot find her the help she needs, I will just work really hard to employ her myself and utilise all of her. How can Education tell her to give up on her MUSIC? She had over 16 thousand views on one of her songs on RUclips.
I HATE BRITISH EDUCATION AND IT'S ELITE BRICK WALLS!
Thank you for this video. This was really helpful. Do you have any suggestions for tags to use when we post our work to attract potential studios?
thank you I kept seeing college portolios on RUclips and not work portfolios so this is handy
Tonko House is my dream studio, I hope to work for them one day 💮

LMAO FR

I’m from the uk. Does Netflix/Glen Keane studios offer remote positions for animators?

I’ve drawn for 6 years and I’ve never tried drawing a body, I recently started ripping every page from my notebooks out because I can’t find anything I like. I haven’t made any improvements and I hate my art style but I can’t change it. I rlly need any help I can get rn, I’ve looked at every tutorial nothing is working :(
It takes a couple years to really get the figure down. If you can afford it, Analytical Figuredrawing at Concept Design Academy is really good.
Read Loomis Figure Drawing For All It's Worth
Love the video!!
That’s why I love LinkedIn and during interviews and tests I agree - act like you already work there! Pretend your just another day on the job and they’ll see how you’re the perfect fit
