I'm so glad you are enjoying the show so far. Buffy was always one of my favorites when it was on, and I think it's wonderful that you still find it fresh some 25 years (25?! damn, I'm old) after it was released. Oddly enough, I'd never noticed the Xander/Chandler similarities, but as soon as you said it... yeah, I can see it now.

I like your views on how Owen differs from Willow and Zander. They know when to leave the dangerous things to Buffy, whereas Owen, like you said, is just an adrenaline junkie.

Yes, but he was with Buffy. And he didn't go because he was looking for excitement.
Xander was intent on doing the right thing, whereas Owen seemed to be in it just for the action.

Fair play to you, you are without doubt the most enthusiastic reactor ever to S1 of BTVS. The first season was very low budget and erratic as show was finding it's feet. You will notice a massive step up mid way through S2 and as it goes forward it just gets better and better. Great that you have really 'got' the show after only five episodes. You will love this show as it moves forward. This episode was one of the weaker in S1 basically showing that after all Buffy is just teenage girl, and has all the desires and urges that brings, trying to live that life as normal as possible, but nothing is very simple in The Buffyverse!
I’ll take that. Could be an age thing, I’m not sure but if this is the weaker aspect of the show I’m here for the rest! I think I just understand that S1 is solely setting up the world and the characters too, I like to keep an open mind. I’m sure if this style was in later seasons I may have a different view. Well I cant wait for your reaction to episode 7 and the season finale. The 2 best episodes of season 1 in my opinion. Generally its so great that you react to Buffy and hopefully Angel later on. Overall 2 of my favorite TV shows of all time.

I love this cuz I get to watch 3 people react to 3 different parts of this series. There's Allie and Alex (i think that's her name) and now u. Allie's in season 4. Alex is in season 3. And u r in season 1. I'm pretty sure Thor is in season 2 but I've only watched him react with Alex.
Got to say I really like your reactions and I'm very torn here cuz you've seen the first season. I should technically wait till season 2 to enter your buffy reactor awards. But at the same time you said something about not remembering so maybe when you catch up to eight or nine. I'm not sure. I could put you with commentators and rewatches for the first season and see if there's anything I could add that's like a cool little thing, we'll see how it goes.

I would love to see what this episode would have been like if Owen was worth what Buffy was claiming he was worth, but his character was just so boring.
i watched all season of buffy many times, but I always wondered why buffy kissed owen after a few hours of dating, is that common in USA? or did she do it because she knew Cordelia was there?
So much of the drama is due to misinterpreting or overhearing things.
She is very short, but some of the guys she likes are tall.
I think the cheesiness adds to the charm of the 90s...
