As a 10 year old in Philadelphia at the time, I must say this video is absolutely insane. The Marlboro ad, the insane colors of the seats. I was probably at 50+ Phillies games when the Vet looked like this before they went blue. Thanks for the time machine. Only wish Wild Thing had thrown a curve ball.
Schilling pitched a great game that day. Thanks Zack for uploading this. As a Phillies fan, this means something to me. Despite losing the WS, this '93 team was one of my favorite teams of all time. In addition, I never got to be at the Vet. This truly means something to any Phillies fan.
They weren’t sold everywhere then. You had to be a super die hard Phillies fan then to have a jersey. The new uniforms in 92 bumped up sales big time of Phillies gear. The burgundy stuff - while popular now - nobody wore back then. Why they changed uniforms in 92.
It was cool as heck. You were there to watch the game. So the concourses were there to get you to your seats, not the mall like atmosphere at the new stadium. Both upper and lower levels had a concourse in the stands you could walk around the entire field during the game. You saw it in the part of this video when he went to his seat. It was a parade of idiots some times. Lol.
@@oscarwinner2034 the place wasnt made for comfort and men went to watch the game and talk crap to other fans now like you said its like a mall full of beta males tweeting out pics of their craft beers 🤣
I feel like this kind of footage from the 90's is great. I bet there are a lot of really interesting videos from this time period sitting on VHS tapes in someones basement. Thanks for sharing.
I loved the vet. Born and raised in south Philly living within 10 mins walking distance was one of the best things about my childhood. We used to sneak in
Love this, thanks for sharing, Zack. We chatted at Target Field in 2019 (I think) and it's still one of my favorite baseball memories. You're a legend of the game in your own way, and the baseball fan in me recognizes the fan in you. Stay positive, and always remember this love of the game is where it all started. 💙
Thank you so much Zach! I've been a Phillies fan my whole life and went to the Vet 1 time when I was less than one years old and seeing the Concorse and a space they don't have pics of is awesome
Thanks for this classic Zack. As a big Blue jays fan (especially then) this was nice to see. Your mom must have been nice to you for you to not go to school. I was a post senior in high school at this time and I'm older than you. You went to a good game as this was a fun series as it was fun to get to know guys like Mickey Morandini, John Kruk, Lenny Dykstra and the infamous Mitch Williams. Being a big Blue Jays fan during those years I typically only got to see NL teams during the odd Saturday NBC game, the All-Star game and world serieses as there was no interleague play and at the time the Braves were the read deal in the NL. I also got many Mets game living bordering Western NY. I knew all the players given that I was part of the hockey and baseball card bubble but was fun to see them for an extended series. I know this game was a Thursday night because Saturday night was game six so I know you missed at least a couple days of school. The SNL skit that was done the night during Weekend Update was classic as Chris Farley played John Kruk and he asked Kevin Nealon how they did and he said "You lost, blue jays won the world series" and then Farley was classic after that. Never got to watch that until the next day as I was too busy partying that night but did setup my VCR to tape it at the time. In 1993 I could watch one show and tape another. Times were great then.
its wild how far technology has brought us in regards to camera quality, this video completes the Zack Hample Video collection for me, WoW what a wonderful adventure, If you Haven't gotten the pleasure to reads Zacks Books and you love baseball, same exciting feel as the videos, with each page....Thanks Zack for preserving this sports true heart...
Wow, how awesome to see the inside of The Vet again, a stadium I've been to more times than I can count, including the last 3 games against the Braves. I still have all 3 oversized tickets in the lanyards they came with plus dirt from 1st base that I had a cop get for me. I had him put it in a French fry container from Chickies and Pete's. Pete was there during those last three games dressed up in some funny costumes. He's quite a character. That last year of baseball at the vet they gave away so many bobbleheads and rally towels and the first double-headed bobblehead I think it was either Phil & Phyllis or Richie Ashburn and Harry Kalus
Awesome video! I grew up in Philadelphia and went to tons of Phillies games at The Vet. Back in the day you could get a seat in the upper level for $2, and Phillies Franks hot dogs included a voucher for a free ticket in the package. I saw Pink Floyd there in 94 as well. This brought back a ton of memories for me. I remember going to a game and getting Gary Maddox's autograph after the game.
Omg!!! The Vet!!! I was 11 years old during the ‘93 World Series and remember how insane the city was for that Phillies team! Crushing loss & wouldn’t experience playoff baseball again until 2007! In high school a couple girlfriends and I would cut class for the business man special (game started at noon), get seats in the outfield and try to get a tan in May or September and flirt with Pat Burrell! Hahaha I miss that dump!
Crazy how stadiums looked back then. I remember going to angels games back in the day before they remodeled it, kinda miss it for the nostalgia but can't really go wrong with these new ball parks and how beautiful they are. Good upload!
Wow great video Zack brings back so many memories of the 90s ricky was one of my all time favorite player's even though I'm a braves fan we had a lot of post season play in the 90s but only 1 world series win in 95 those where the days
Jacob Davis Well, Game 5 of the 2008 World Series was suspended in the 6th. It was resumed the next day and completed. That was the game in which the Phillies won it all. I don't think there has ever been another World Series postponement.
When I was a kid, Children's Letters to God really effected me and got me through some tough times. He was truly a great storyteller. Also that picture on Wikipedia of him is hilarious
I was at that game but me and my dad arrived late because of traffic. We sat in our seats about a minute before the Phillies scored their 1st run. What an amazing season!! Such a shame Joe Carter broke our hearts the next game!
Phillies with a bunch of guys having great years gave an underrated Blue Jays team with a lot of great players a run for their money. Great series. Memorable ending.
Marlboro signage in the stadium!!! Out of everything in this video I think that gave me the most nostalgia. The camera at 6:21 is pretty great too. Really cool watching these retro home videos mixed in with the new ones.
Hmm. The oldest stadiums I've been to are Wrigley and Fenway. I spent a lot of time at the old Yankee Stadium and Shea Stadium. The other MLB stadium I've visited that no longer exists is Atlanta-Fulton County Stadium. How about you?
Very cool video Zack! Interested to see game day experiences from earlier than I was born! Thanks for the upload. Interested too see more of these older videos!
Very cool video! Cool getting to see footage from that stadium too! I was very surprised to find out that RFK Stadium is still around! I'll have to visit it sometime. I really like stadiums with a lot of history. Thanks again for the cool upload!
I like how it seems you have changed your viewpoint on stadiums as time has went on. Now you seem to like those quirky old stadiums with a lot of nooks and crannies but back then you thought it was ugly lol.
This is a great video! And I miss the Vet and the old seats. It's amazing that they just took them out in 1996 and didn't sell them or anything...just threw them out!
Zack Hample thanks for responding. Btw you should go to coors field next season. I'm pretty sure I've only seen one vid of u there in a long time. I know it's really not the best for catching baseballs but they really fly.
Another great video, obviously like your new style of videoing the games but the throwback is awesome to see (this was even before I was born haha). It's refreshing to see how long ball hawking has been a part of your life. How many World Series games have you been to? So glad mullets aren't in style anymore haha. Footage from 90s baseball games is so classic, iconic baseball (not sure why this is, so deal with it)
Young Hample working on his youtube channel before there was youtube!!
Thank you for providing video footage, so I can relive some memories from that dump, but it was my dump.

You're welcome, and you're probably right. It was expensive to convert it digitally and took lots of time to edit, but I'm glad I did it.

Your right zack, the vet was a dump, but it was our dump!
I enjoyed the video Zack. Great seeing your Dad. My Dad passed away last year, and have many great memories going to Baseball games with him.

Undoubtedly one of the coolest videos I've came across in awhile
youtube is pootube lol kawhia Leonard I'm guessing
Before they even switched all the seats to the blues.
Awesome seeing that old color pattern.
this is like the first vlog ever made.
This is actually really cool to see. Seeing your origins up to the present is amazing.

+Zack Hample yeah it was a good vid
Dang Zach!!! You been doing this all your life!
Back when stadiums were built for everyday people and actually experiencing the game
This stadium was a piece of shit
Concrete Cookie cutter crap boxes like this took most of the originality out of stadium designs for about 25 years.
the Linc is far better than the Vet
They coulda remodeled the Vet for the Phillies thou, Citizens Bank was kind of a downgrade. It just looks more modern
