- More adventures from the weirdest baseball season ever!
MLB isn't allowing fans inside stadiums right now, but the New York Boulders (aka Rockland Boulders) of the independent Frontier League is allowing up to 500 fans to attend each home game -- and for a few hours before the first pitch, I got VIP access and permission to be the only fan inside. Did I get close to the players? Yes. Did I run around and snag a zillion baseballs? Yes! Is this video amazing? Obviously.
Huge thanks to everyone with the Boulders for welcoming me to the stadium and also making it possible for anyone to watch live professional baseball in person these days. Ken Kostik, the Director of Media Relations, was especially helpful, along with Bobby Nodelman (stadium operations) and Shawn Reilly (team president). Zack, you're right!! Why isn't Major League Baseball letting a few fans in their stadiums. I mean take a look at Progressive Field in Cleveland. It holds 38,000. You could have 12,000 in it with people space out. That would be a normal attendance during a game in early April and May. Guess they don't want to be sued by someone who can't get a ticket.
It's kind of like going back and playing the beginning levels of a video game you completed years ago...But in a pandemic you do what you gotta do to get that fix...Well done Z-Man...Ranter.

Very cool, Zack. I've been to Palisades Credit Union Park twice for a charity event for the New York Giants with a softball game, home run derby, and dodgeball game with current and former Giants.

I've played in that stadium so many times! Good times, very chill atmosphere and the drive up there on the Palisades is dope. But seriously, they have to do something about that green monster wall in centerfield lmao, it's already like 420 feet away.
Honestly that stadium just looks like such a chill place to hang out with a couple friends and watch some good old baseball

Im a huge fan of the Minnesota Team that just became a Twins Affiliate, the Saint Paul Saints! Beautiful stadium and fun atmosphere!
I love how the players were cheering you on during BP! Looked like a great time, guess I’ll have to see if there’s any independent league teams playing near me, because that looked like a lot of fun!

I’ve been there. Rockland Boulders game are super fun, and very affordable. Great family activity.

The Chicago dogs do that too! I’ve been to a couple games already. They’ve closed off some sections and only sell a limited number so it usually sells out fast but it’s cheap and a fun stadium right on the expressway
As a Rays fan I had to look up why Garret Whitley was playing Indy ball. Apparently they allowed milb players to play indy ball. I looked this all up before Zack mentioned it...
EDIT: also I feel like the frontier league can do this because they dont have as many fans as milb or mlb have.

Zack I highly recommend coming to a game in Sioux Falls, SD or next year in Sioux City, IA. American Association teams with a few ex MLBers on each team. Plus it’s a little higher quality than the frontier league
I was there Friday night when they both played eachother! It was an awesome game and got 4 baseballs and 1 signed! It was a very fun night.
I live nearby, so I have been here multiple times. I went on the field, they allowed people to run the bases, and get signatures from every player. It is a pretty good stadium and very fan-friendly

Hey Zack, you should contact the USPBL in Utica, Michigan it’s also an independent league and they are letting some fans in the stadium same with the traverse city pit spitters.
Even if it's not a major league park, still an awesome experience that most of us will never experience. Good for you Zack ! Please be safe.

I would have a lot of fun! I did get a couple of Frontier league foul balls when I went to a few River City Rascals games.
I was recently at a Frontier League game, and the team had a shortage of baseballs, and after about a million players i asked for a toss up, one actually gave one to me, and then i ended catching a foul ball in the eighth inning.
That’s boulder stadium the Rockland Boulders play there. Sometimes you can sneak into the luxury boxes when nobody is looking

Thats crazy when you got that one person in BP that catches the balls and throws it back to the players. Zack is a legend.
I’ve played at that field for a tryout, I hit 2 to the wall on the short porch in right field and hit 1 to deep left. While I was there 2 people hit HRs 1 to left and 1 to right it was super fun and the hops are like turf.
You should go to a Savannah Bananas game sometime, probably wont be able get to a game this year, seasons almost over, but there’s a plaza on the third base side where several will get hit. You can also get several hit behind the stadium and in the parking lot behind outfield. Lots of people generally, they sell out pretty much every game on a normal season.

There *is* a time when you can watch BP without music at an MLB game. It happens at Fenway sometimes and I'm trying to figure out when--I think it's when the Sox don't hit, and the visitors do, and they get started early, before the music is scheduled to start. (Which is Josh Kantor's organ for the visitors, as opposed to recorded (and sometimes uncensored!) music for the Red Sox.) And it's so much fun to hear that crack of the bat, and to hear the balls slam off the tin of the Monster and echo around the park. And then, suddenly, the silence is broken by the organ. (I also thought maybe sometimes the visiting requests no music--but in that case wouldn't you have silent BPs all over the league? So maybe not...)
I, too, have noticed the occasional quiet BP moment at Fenway. Love it so much.

As a Rockland County native, I worked at that stadium for 5.5 summers, dating back to high school. I lived just 15 minutes away in New City. Great place to watch a baseball game. Glad you had a good time there.

If you think this stadium is better then MILB parks, be sure to check out FNB Field in Harrisburg, PA. The outfield is extremely similar. Dont go on a rainy day because its like all metal though. And obviously once stadiums open back up
