With the update Algoriddim has completely fulfilled my entire wishlist. I'm an open format DJ and love remixing old disco tracks and rock riffs live. With the optimized beat grid, there's no problem at all for difficult 'handmade' music with large tempo fluctuations. The new crossfader FX are gigantic! Perfect for quick mixing. I just had three hours of mega fun with Djay 5 and my Reloop Mixon4. It's incredible.
These updates are an obvious godsend for open format DJs, all that’s left is to beef up library management. After today I have full faith that Algoriddim will eventually address this and I’m gonna hold off a bit longer on getting the Prime 4+
I made the switch from Traktor two years ago now. I couldn’t be happier, it has unlocked my creativity and allowed me to free up brainspace to add other elements to my perforamces such as percussion replacement using triggered samples out of ableton or maschine. MY ONLY CRITIQUE is that when you load sample into their looper they can only be played as One Shots. There are any number of work around but that seems really stupid to me but that is LITERALLY the only thing. I really feel that the flexibility makes all other platforms pale in comparison. Initially I midi mapped my old s8 and it was fine but I replaced it with Reloops Mixon8 and, for me, is the perfect marriage of software and controller. I haven’t had the chance to play in Djay 5.0 but am headed into my booth to do that RIGHT NOW🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉
@@jazzyjase123 yep. I mean when using djay with a ddj1000/ 800 or flx10, the integration isn't fully there in the same way vdj accomplishes that part on the jogwheels of those controllers.
Fully agree on the compatibility front. I’ve seen the XDJ-XZ and the XDJ-RX3 at a lot of these smaller bars. If I could even hook up an iPad mini and put it over the main screen, I’d be perfectly happy. But only controllers are supported by the iPhone/ipad app for now.
Algoriddim Djay iOS app also works with mixers with a built in interface. DJM S11,S7,S5,DJM Nxs2, Rane 70,72, most of the reloop mixers, Allen and Heath 96 and px5, and the Denon X1850 so it's very versatile.
Just downloaded it and gave it a try. I think it shows potential. The stems are pretty clear, but some of the apple/Mac design aesthetics makes some compromises in the UI for users desiring more customization. I plugged my midi fighter twister and it had a few mappings in from the get go although they didn’t all seem to be working properly according to the midi editing page. I’ll probably keep using VDJ, but djay shows potential for sure.

Nailed it on the head it’s a game changer that if they want to break the Pro market they need hardware support for flagship controllers. I have a XDJ which hasn’t been fully supported even though been putting in support tickets for 4 years. Be a no brainer if they could be like VDJ in terms of hardware support.
Traktor 4 Pro and Nuo Stems v3 are to my ears currently the best in Stem Separation at the moment. Still far from perfect but getting useable. Very interested to see how Stems Separation quality improves in next few years.
Amazing new features and loving the improvements to Neural Mix, which I've primarily used for EQ functionality and vocals-muting transitions to this point. The crossfade functionality and beatgrid are incredible features. I don't think it'll take other software too long to incorporate, but I love how Algoriddim leads the way with a lot of these bells and whistles which eventually become game-changers. Much like wanting to see djay be compatible on more devices, I would also like to see Reloop have more and more releases of various controller types, as it's Algoriddim's star partner in hardware. Also, while I wouldn't want to see Algoriddim be acquired, I think it'd be great to see them and inMusic work together on native compatibility. I don't think inMusic needs to move to Algoriddim-only as far as external software goes, but perhaps offer solutions similar to the Reloop Mixon 8 Pro, which was designed for djay and Serato specifically.
Perfectly on-spot with the review: beat gridding is alone the game changer, not mentioning the iPhone/iPad touchscreen use as an addition to DJ hardware, BUT what about support for 2023 controllers like Pioneer DDJ-FLX10, DDJ-REV5, Hercules Inpulse T7, Rane Four?! What about screens on DDJ-REV7 and DJM-S11?! If they sort out these, then I would consider transitioning. Right now, I'm left with Serato DJ Pro and its way too outdated and inaccurate beat gridding, arguably the worst on the market.
I’m no expert, but I’m thinking that they might not be able to advertise the FLX-10 for instance as being totally compatible at this early time due to its actual dedicated Stems buttons and the other features geared towards RB/ Serato. It’s a specific controller so mapping its keys is a more unique and time consuming task. My 0.02 and I could be way off
FLX-10 is not class compliant, therefore it will never work with iOS or iPad OS. The lack of screen support for the ddj-rev7 is the main reason I went with the Rane one. I’m glad I did, the pioneer is too busy for the way I DJ. Plus the Ranes pads and EQs work great with neural mix, you really don’t need dedicated “stems” buttons with it.
Agree 100% ! I use serato almost all the time because of compatibility with my Rane 4. And now I also feel that djay is perfectly there! Let’s hope they start to look into hardware! Great review as always! Cheers!
As for the Hercules Inpulse T7: You can upvote the support of the T7 on the thread „Hercules inpulse T7 support“ within the algoriddim community. The more users upvote this topic the faster they are going to integrate support for it since they track the user demand this way. So spread the word, make sure to vote for this thread and let’s go for it! Hopefully they are going to support it ASAP. The problem with mapping it on your own is that you can’t map these motorized platters by yourself within djay Pro. They won’t/can’t start moving. So algoriddim has to do this for us.
Fantastic review, as always from you, and I couldn’t agree more. I’m so ready to switch but needs more support for hardware. I use a Rane Four and it’s not supported but seems like the perfect controller for this update to Djay Pro. Sadly support for the Rane seems to have requested since it came out and as yet, nothing. I sincerely hope they focus on support as, I’d switch in a heartbeat. Thanks for such a clear and concise review.
@@djstuc A yeah that's nice, and i'm doing this in some form, but cue points and saved loops can speed up the things on stage, especially on Pioneer gear. It's just a lot of hassle to keep up to date two platforms. So while I don't like it, i settled with rekordbox. I would dig DJCU way, but the whole "app package" is just on a very hacky foundation. Also I'm using Djay more actively nowadays on smaller gigs, and I would be happy if it could grow on cross compatibility too.
For me, the elephant in the room is the fact, that 5.0 did not add full iCloud sync. This has been one of the most requested features for 2-3 years now. I have all my audio files on iCloud Drive, so being able to add new music on the studio Mac and then go to the gear with an iOS device is all I am missing before making the switch.
For me, I would love to be able to actually choose where I want to save my recordings esp to an external source instead of the default saving to the main harddrive while also dj'ing and also having ID3 tag editing wold be great...real world things that would be helpful
Wow! Is the first thing and like you it is the hardware for me I'll start with Windows. Then from there it is my Controllers (2 of them) not on the Pioneer list supported list at this time.
First out of the blocks with "intelligent" beat grid analysis! About time IMO. This has long been a sticking point with DJ software assuming that tracks only have one tempo and one key, and taking an average. Although I would prefer full blown Ableton style warping where track tempos can be quantised, this is a great start. When the grid is correct, everything else falls into place. Well done Algoriddim. Let's see how long it takes the others to catch up.
Honestly, the "intelligent" part is what put me off because pre-5.0 the gridding was often too intelligent for it's own good. Having given it a 30 minute quick-test, "intelligent" now seems to deserve it's name much more, and for the difficult tracks, there's also the "completely dumb" option that goes strictly by BPM value. Before 5.0 it was kind of an in-between situation. 5.0 just became a lot more interesting for me.
Great review I was blown away myself. One thing I wanted to say is when using the crossfader FX I’m pretty sure that on iOS we can just use the touchscreen on an iPad to implement the cross fader FX which seems to work pretty great despite what kind of equipment you’re using
I'm sold on the fluid beat grid alone. it would save me time on all my classics and improved my library selections. The other dj platforms better get their act together, because DJpro just smoked them.
Tidal has a great library, but for me the tracks just don’t load well enough on guest Wi-Fi’s at venues etc. Beatsource tracks always load, even using my phones hotspot, but is still missing a lot of tracks I normally use.
Perhaps they want to make more of their own hardware. But software is king, and hardware will come afterwards. I wanted to Denon Prime cos of the all in one and some cool 0 to 100% tempo editing and key changing, but that is 6 year old tech now. With this software a phone and the ultra compact reloop mixtour controller youre good to go
Might be a silly question but will the fluid grid stay with the track in other programs? Like does it stay in the meta data? If I go over to serato will it keep that grid? Sorry if this is absurd question 😂 @djcitytv
I'm just re-visiting this video & the comments a few months later to see if there's any updated news on hardware support. I'm in exactly the same position as Mojaxx. Amazed by the software & ready to throw money at a good quality controller, but frustrated by the lack of current supported decent quality kit. At the moment, the only realistic option seems to be the Rane 2 Algoriddim need to get something out pretty sharpish, before they lose all the interest they've built up.. And don't tell me to buy a Mixon 8, ...I'm seeing so many bad reviews & problems with that controller.
I dedicate a full 24 hours to working on this software, just like you. I have contemplated making a switch, but unfortunately, the majority of the features do not function properly when hardware is connected. For instance, when I connect my DDJ 1000 SRT, the fusion crossfader is not supported in the Mac version. Additionally, there are challenges with beatgriding songs with a 6/8 time signature, as it becomes completely off-sync. However, in most scenarios, the software performs adequately.
NeuralAI uses BionicAI chip inside iDevices above from iPhoneX that allows Apple being years ahead its competition in each field (desktop/mobile). Pioneer and Serato will implement them after being fully Apple Silicon native compatible (includding implementing these APIs) and later they will go into mobile or whatever “gadget” Apple will release in the future. If you need it now, go for it. Apple Silicon desktop chips (M1 and so) were iPad upgraded chips so that’s how is going on…
Using the Crossfader fusion on my controller is not as smooth as if I just use it on the iPad itself , is it cus I’m using a USB-C hub to connect iPad to controller? …Great review 👌🏽
Question.. as I am not getting an answer from Algoriddim or Reloop. I dj with Djaypro simply with my lenevo yoga to bluetooth speakers with a bose tower extra. Is there a contoller or mixer that can fit between to have a central contol? Which is bluetooth compatible?
I started with DJ Pro because I only have an iPad to work with and this update is fantastic! However, a little before this update came out, I can no longer use tidal with neural mix and I'm still salty about it. I'm new to the game so I don't have a local library bought yet and I have over 10k songs 😭
I want to switch for the beat grids, period. I am a mobile DJ so gear is not as important to me as dJay supports *most* of the controllers I have. BUT THERE IS ONE THING MISSING!! From what I see, I cannot do what I do with Rekordbox which is maintain a collection on a PC/Mac that I export via USB. What I have are 3 platforms (iOS, iPadOS, MacOS) that each have a collection that will have to be maintained separately. We need a way to have one collection that I can work on and work with on each of the 3 platforms... (oh, and get busy and put that on a PC... I am a PC guy even though I have both an iPhone and an iPad...)
i cloud? Still learning myself but pretty sure you can pull your collection from i cloud on all three. That's if you upload them to it . I'm sure my tracks get uploaded automatically from my ipad without a subscription for a limited amount . Still new to me tho and lites of exploring to do
Good news. Almost as good as the returning of DJ Worx ..... :) How does it suports Phase DJ, and what are the feedbacks from scratch persons.... comapred to the SDJ/VDJ latency-wise....?
Did they fix the beatgridding with non-4-beat music? Being mostly a DnB guy, the pre-5.x versions never really cut it for me, since it couldn't cope with the beatless intro and break parts of a lot of DnB, leading to the grid being off by one or two beats in the main part. As there was no way to manually correct that, this was a no-go for me. Also, DVS is, so far, very sensitive to even slightly dusty timecode vinyl, how fresh and well-calibrated the stylus is and even rumble. Serato, Rekordbox and Traktor are well ahead in this area, at least so far. If DJay has improved in both of these areas, I'll happily give it another go, because there are so many good and fun things about it.
Reply to myself and anyone who cares: Gave the Macos version a quick run, and it seems they've heard my prayers and added a constant grid option which is useful for difficult tracks. Very good news! Will give it a spin for a couple of weeks and see what else has improved.
The Crossfade Fusion settings are incredible, ALL of them. But those Neural ones are next level. Angelo in his video mentionrf "Patent", does that mean the other guys can't put the same thing in their software?
“My body is ready , my equipment is not..” what a epic line !

Using the Crossfader fusion on my controller is not as smooth as if I just use it on the iPad itself , is it cus I’m using a USB-C hub to connect iPad to controller? …Great review 👌🏽
It's a welcomed improvement... But I need it to work with my Rane Four.
Did they remove Vocal Cut from the crossfader FX? Only have Vocal Sustain, Harmonic Sustain, and Drum Swap.
Question.. as I am not getting an answer from Algoriddim or Reloop.
If you get old version of rekordbox, you can still use stems with Tildal
@@sachs8809 rekordbox on the iPad? Idk I like the layout of DJ Pro too. Super easy to understand
T H I S ! ^
i cloud? Still learning myself but pretty sure you can pull your collection from i cloud on all three. That's if you upload them to it .
I'm sure my tracks get uploaded automatically from my ipad without a subscription for a limited amount . Still new to me tho and lites of exploring to do
Sweet
Good news.
Almost as good as the returning of DJ Worx ..... :)
How does it suports Phase DJ, and what are the feedbacks from scratch persons.... comapred to the SDJ/VDJ latency-wise....?
Once again, Djay Pro proves it's worth their yearly subscription. Now if only I could get my DJM-450 to co-operate with it using DVS.
Track Id on right deck? Awesome stuff as always.
Is it ready to play with Pioneer Opus Quad..?
How did you change the key from letters to numbers?
The Crossfade Fusion settings are incredible, ALL of them. But those Neural ones are next level. Angelo in his video mentionrf "Patent", does that mean the other guys can't put the same thing in their software?
It also means they could license (for a fee) the patented technology from Algoriddim
Is an interface compatible with iOS ? I want to get two deck audio output so I could use an analog mixer
Beat gridding is like a having a quantized edit but done on the fly? That's awesome.
Does Djay support video mixing?
Yes, video mixing is included with Djay Pro
