I told you I was. Going to and I did ! Drove my mules up into Tremont and back down through Townsend Wednesday. Drove them around Cades Cove Yesterday. No problem and no questions asked !

So a double tree is where two young trees sprout off of an old stump that was there years ago. And they grow together sort of. Most are hollow in the butts. That’s pretty typical. Do have a question, I know your by yourself a bunch, do you let your wife know where you are at and a check in process? So if she doesn’t hear from me, then she knows where I am and where to come looking. I also keep my phone on me while I am working also. Now if it’s thinned out descent, then your grain or growth rings will be further apart in that particular year of growth. But just guessing average…I’d say it’s about 0.13” per year. That’s what foresters say anyway. So a 30” tree would be roughly 230 years old ish. Takes a long time on hardwood growth anyway. 30 year turnaround times on hardwood stands is about right…depending on how you thin. Hope this helps

Different trees are different of course. Thicker stands of timber, the growth rings in a tree will be tighter together and a growth ring represents one year.
