    also i meant to ask , during dev on this i commented on fact that it looked like a complete pain / impossible to clean any dust that got inside the slot that the device goes into in the vr headset part. Is there any accessibility at all to clean the exposed inside surface of the lenses inside that slot. like does whole front plate come off?

    Thank you Thomas for this great and entertaining review. After watching this and knowing how long Pimax has been in business and that they still don’t listen to you or their customers, I am proud to say that I have never, nor will ever support Pimax or buy any of their products. I have 0 tolerance for stupidity and for cluelessness executives making the exact same mistakes over and over again as Pimax as a company does continuously. I understand your frustration and how much you like Pimax’s hardware, but they are a very stupid company who don’t deserve to still be in business as they purposely self sabotage their own products and set themselves up for failure. It’s as if they really don’t want to be successful.

    If they had made this OpenXR compliant then it might of had a chance, at least it would have PCVR streaming with things like ALVR. This is an actual tragedy to see such amazing hardware go to waste.

    It looks way better as a VR headset than i thought, shame if there is no SteamVR support. Maybe the issue is that they think they would be competing with something like Pico4 if they invested more into this.

    • @Nobody-Nowhere

      The biggest issue in standalone is these closed ecosystems, its so insane that games cant be developed to some open standard and work across these devices. All of them use the same chips.

    It’s maybe that they will add games and pc support in the future as it’s only just come out and you know what pimax is like in releasing unfinished hardware vr headsets and it’s software support so don’t get too disheartened at the moment and just wait a little - it was the same with the crystal but it’s now a lot better than last year .

  • @paulct91
    @paulct91 7 месяцев назад +1

    13:28 - It really is quite bad that support for VR, though you, VooDoo, are wrong had they ACTUALLY worked to bring games and content or at least something like Steam Link, Air Link, or Virtual Desktop to help with VR content existing, then this would be okay. Afterall look what came of Oculus Go... THE QUEST 1-3 HMDs "That no one wanted" leading to actual wireless HMDs that unlike the Oculus Rift S didn't have a cord.
    Pimax really is their own worst enemy, Pimax 12K coming out(?) alongside Apple Vision Pro, Valve's Index Successor(?), Somninum VR1, BigScreen Beyond, Varjo Aero, Varjo XR-4 + Focal Edition, and whatever Samsung and others release in 2024! They really dropped the ball!

    Rip. Robin always had a wild ambition. He makes innovative products that you don't see very often nowadays while being inspired by the best portion of other devices that we know and love. However I think he needs to slow down and allow the software side of things to catch up and be refined. I'm his defense though, the software can improve over time without costing the consumer any more money just time. While if the hardware was bad then there would be no hope because no one would buy it, knowing it will be replaced very quickly

    9:30 - So, you didn't even try the "12" VR Pimax games? Why? ...Not sure why Pimax didn't work to bring Steam VR, Oculus/Meta, and View games streamable like Oculus/Meta Air Link or Steam Link... seems like that would be a priority especially for broading the HMD only other Reality series products....

    So the Steam Link app that you have installed will not allow you to play any of your SteamVR games…? That would be so cool if you could play your SteamVR content from your PC using that device. How does it look from inside the Headset…? It would be so cool if you could play meta quest games using this thing as well. I am glad I decided not to get this thing back when they had the kick starter because, I felt like it would be unfinished product. Pimax is building a reputation of being unreliable. I do ❤️ the ideas but, the products to me seem lack lusters that are expensive. Thanks for sharing Voodoo DE you’re Awesome!

    • @ozerune
      @ozerune 7 месяцев назад +2

      If we know anything about Pimax, it's that we have to let them cook even after release. Give it a year or two and it will probably be the coolest thing on the market. Meta integrations is something you'd be better off looking for diamonds in Antarctica. They'd never give up their exclusives. Same with playstation.

      @@ozerune Oh I am sure these talented hackers we have out here can find a way to get it all to work. 😉👌 but, yeah Pimax has some good ideas, I ❤️ the FOV of the Pimax8KX I used to have. They need to get a game that will help them stand out. Maybe, they can call up SEGA and have them make them a One of a Kind VR game and make it exclusive for Pimax headsets. I am down to play some Sonic VR or better yet Golden Axe, could you imagine a VR version of Altered Beast! A modernized Next Gen version of course. Streets of rage VR would be cool too. 😉👌😁👍
