And I’m almost afraid to mention how much I’ve played (modded) Fallout 4. If your guess is lower than 7000 hours, you lose. In Fallout 3 and Fallout New Vegas I clocked around 1200 hours each. I just checked Steam store and here in Aussie land Starfield was an absolutely insane $119.95, and now the expansion is asking for a further $49.99. Id actually forgotten it existed not long after it released as when a game is asking north of $100 i am waiting for reviews and weighing that purchase very carefully, obviously this one didn't add up and i have no hope whatsoever for ES6.

You're talking about a game that's literally known the world over. 15k for Bethesda is abysmal, in the same way that 2 million watching Doctor Who is abysmal, even though those exact numbers would be considered a fantastic success on an indie game or a mid sized studio.
What you are talking about is resume in one single word. Interpretation. People are pretending that Bethesda is dead, but Bethesda did create more then 1 game for more then 25 years you know and this analyse around just 1 of those games on Steam is irrelevant since the compagnie got many games on many consoles, not just on Steam. Basically, you don't have access to their profit or financial situation, that's private. Last interview Todd made, he was gladly telling us that over 20 millions people were still playing Skyrim on every console and computer together, this is only for Skyrim and not all the games they made...

Every time new news about the failure of starfield has come out, the more that chalkeaters song 'it just works' is further solidified as the truth for how bethesda run their company 😅
"were bethesda incentivised to make anything good" this is actually a really good point. selling the DLC as part of a premium edition, means they got the sales for the DLC before it even came out, and i dont know why this didnt dawn on my until now. they are 100% NOT incentivised to deliver something good, as the have already got their payment for the DLC, before it even came out, and we know that bethesda has lost its integrity of delivering on promises.
Well that's always been the issue with pre orders well for the last 10 yrs. Ppl would put up with a mediocre game that has interesting points to refine and build on, look at Skyrim. It's been a 10+ and ppl still play it. What ended Bethesda is that they are boring and being woke makes them boring and preachy.
@@117Ender theres people saying that Shattered Space feels like cut content from the base game, and that makes so much sense and explains how lackluster it felt. Cut content, that they then got players to pay for, this is pathetic.
They lost their integrity with delivering on promises during the many scandals of Fallout 76. They had to be threatened with class action lawsuits multiple times over multiple incidents to reluctantly keep their word. And everyone brushes it off because they """made things right in the end.""" I say fuck that, their past behavior is a strong indicator of their future behavior.

@@SkylineFTW97 facts and selling skyrim but this time you pay for mods. fallout 4 being mediocre, bethesda went from it just works cause modders will fix it, to losing modders and players. if es6 is anything like starfield, ppl will preorder it, and they will be burned and finally stop trusting bethesda. they have 1 last chance to turn it around, but chances of success are low. if it flops 10 yrs from now bethesda will close its doors.
Starfield is a perfect example of how appeasing explicitly to casuals is a death sentence. Todd and Emil are far too complacent in relying on the community to finish development, but as many Modders have said, they just don’t care. It’s too boring to work on. Not only do I agree, but it’s utter madness to believe it’s a good thing to pay full price for the privilege of functionally building your own game as Bethesda is trying to con consumers is.
Bethesda declaring that Starfield is the best game they've ever made and Ubisoft declaring Skull and Bones to be the first AAAA video game. These people truly are delusional.
I’ve got a weird take on this. It likely was the best game a majority of the devs team has ever made, because 90% of the team from Skyrim and fo4 is gone and the team was roughly 5 times the size of the old team. Was it good? No. When there are no good things to compare it to it’s the best by default.
I've heard people say that even the voice actors sound bored during their performances. But remember, as Juicehead stated as a positive for this DLC "We have new accents" XD
The "BIG" Reward for completing the DLC is an Elite Rating Equinox, Not even a Legendary. And Equinox are amongst the worst weapons in the game. You don't even get any Unique Items or gear.
I think all the bug fixes in the world won't fix the issues with this game. It's so boring. Who in their right mind would think "Let's make a sci fi game but the hook is...there's no aliens races. It's all humans!" You have games like the Mass Effect franchise, Freelancer & Rebel Galaxy, to draw from. They have no excuse!
The people behind that trash are really determined to die on that hill, it's player count has dropped below the laughable numbers of what that dumpster fire Concord had.
Western game companies seem to have forgotten how to create compelling gameplay and tell captivating stories. I hope all that Blackrock ESG money was worth it.
Let's add the graphical downgrade for Xbox users and the complete removal of the 60fps visuals settings for Series S users who literally just had it added to the game in June and actually worked very well.
At this point, the best thing Bethesda can do is hand Emil Pagliarulo a gold watch, thank him for his past work, and put him out to pasture. All the signs were there back in Fallout 4: A main story writer who can't write a compelling main story and a lead designer who can't design and refuses to lead.
Shattered Space is the equivalent of Mr. Krabs hyping up the new Krabby Land at the Krusty Krab and then when he pulled the curtain Krabby Land turned out to be a ramshackle piece of garbage.

As a Bethesda fanboy who literally has over 2 thousand hours in Skyrim, Starfield is absolutely a disgrace. I cannot believe I was hyped for this game well I can but what we got from starfield wasn't even 20% of the game i wanted and most of the community wanted. I have zero hope for elder scrolls 6, it's obvious Bethesda and Lord Todd Howard do not know how to make games anyone.
I’m not sure how much time I’ve spent playing Skyrim since I play on a Windows 8 machine not connected to the internet. But it’s probably about 1200 hours as my current character is 300 hours in. And I’m almost afraid to mention how much I’ve played (modded) Fallout 4. If your guess is lower than 7000 hours, you lose. In Fallout 3 and Fallout New Vegas I clocked around 1200 hours each.
Bottom line, I saw the writing on the wall with the (disastrous) launch of Fallout 76 (which I never got), so I assumed Starfield was going to be worse.

Starfield is probably the first game I've seen modders go all "We know we said we would be working on Starfield Together since people loved Skyrim Together, but Starfield is just so boring we won't work on it anymore", if the people responsible for the longevity of Bethesda games are passing on your game, maybe not only it's not the best game you've ever made, but it's the most boring game you've ever made
Facts. The reason why Skyrim is popular is due to modders. Without them Bethesda games are mediocre.
@@117Ender Exactly, say what you will about mods, if they are hypersexualized, or incredibly immersive, there's a little bit for everyone. Whatever people's opinions, these guys are doing more for Bethesda than Bethesda itself has ever done
@@Vecna but Bethesda was on this road. They saw Skyrim make bank, and then said let's monetize mods. And ppl went no. Bethesda hurt their fan base for a quick buck, their fan base left.
If Bethesda had any integrity they would have incorporated co-op themselves, after modders proved it was possible.
@@117Ender I'm just gonna say it, Morrowind wasn't that good and only has exploration and player freedom going for it. Bethesda the dev has never made a single great game, like Witcher 3 is for example.

They absolutely are.
Its ok. Its a bethesda game.
I'd still ask for a refund.
That really is very expensive. You can't add 8 hours to an RPG and charge 30 bucks. That's nowhere NEAR enough.
Weren't the mass effect story add-ons like $10
Actually 16hours
Several years ago I saw a measure of about $1 per hour of play to be considered a decent exchange. $30 for 8 hours is around $4/hour, which is absurd.
Even at@@chrisabraham3830 's 16 hours, $2/hour is very high. Especially when I can compare to Skyrim and FO4 time I've played, which is more like me paying _pennies_ per hour of game time.

The Bethesda you're talking about no longer works there.
IGN called it boring. Az is vindicated!
Can’t say that I’m shocked.
More modern and lazy AAA releasing mid - terrible products. Expecting their “charm” to have it sell like crazy.
Given that Starfield has dramatically underperformed compared to earlier BGS titles and now the DLC has only a few thousand downloads, the writing is on the wall: listen to your fans, i.e. the source of your financial prosperity, or keep making the same mistakes, get ratioed into irrelevancy, cut losses and lay off staff, and inevitably fall into fiscal ruin.
It’s wild how fans have been telling, nay, YELLING what they’ve wanted from BGS for YEARS and somehow they still end up making things worse and then throwing their hands up in feigned shock.
The Didn't Earn It hires that fill the payroll at Bethesda absolutely HATE the customer base you're talking about.
30 dollars is insane. They should be giving the damn DLC away to those who bought the base game as an apology for how bland and awful it is.

Emil Pagliarulo is the reason Bethesda games have turned to crap
We've been saying this since 2008's Fallout 3
He's a level designer that accidentally hit promoted due to the actual quest makers quiting. He has failed upwards to this point. Ppl always used to say "Bethesda games are great accept the main quests" that was Emil lol. It's so weird to me that Todd can hear that his franchises are the only ones where everyone agrees the main dish in every game isn't worth eating ...like why wouldn't he fire him I don't get it
Don't forget Todd "5ft" Howard who is a total clown too.
Wow. They still have 15k still playing that?? I'm impressed they still get that
Crazy huh
Investing more money into a game that's already a flop seems like one of the dumbest business decisions these companies make.
It "worked" for cyberpunk 2077 even though the game is still a bad RPG so it makes sense for Bethesda to try.
Back when the game was about to release, Grummz took a good look at that fugly starting screen and tried to warn us. Some people owe him a big apology.
Excellent video Az, just please give us a trigger warning next time you try to sing 🙂
This is the same shit Bungie pulled with Destiny 2, the first expansion was a small POS to fulfill the Special Edition buyers of the main game. Not surprised in the least.

The pushback in the days of Oblivion's Horse armor wasn't enough. Then again Bethesda will sit on such ideas for years and quietly revive them like with paid mods.
@@SkylineFTW97 To be fair on Bethesda it was actually the modding community that came up with the idea for "paid mods" because there are many mod creators that have put their mods behind a paywall on sites such Patreon and Subscribestar.

@@xSilentVeterenx those modders deserve to be unhappy.
Elianora(sp), the maker of all the prominent custom home mods for Skyrim, went to work for Bethesda and their job was to "decorate" the environment of Starfield. That's the job that they went to Bethesda to do. One of the first mods that came out for Starfailed, and one of the only mods, was a declutter mod that literally removed everything that that modder did. All the items were useless items with no value. They compromise their ability to make mods for the game, potentially compromising their ability to make mods for the game into the future because of non-competes
Modders that go and work for Bethesda deserve to be unhappy. A Faustian deal to feel cool is not a good look.
@@hardbrocklife Can't believe they hired Elianora, her houses look pretty but is some of the most lore and immersion breaking houses there is.
Cut content, that they then got players to pay for, this is pathetic.

bethesda is a dead company. they lost their fans, with all the bad faith they burned, starfield which was gonna redeem them, and show they can sell free mods to the customers, ended up being a first to have modders say this is so boring we wont fix it. and now bethesda went from the cool kid who can get away with bullying the customer, to now being the nerd in the locker who everyone ignores. its like a saying goes, you can be the best employee and an ass, and while ppl hate you they respect you, but if your an ass and a terrible employee, then ppl hate you, you can be imperfect, but have something to redeem yourself, having nothing redeemable is just going to be ignored
And think I was actually disappointed when I heard Bethesda games would not be coming to PS5…
Starfield is a perfect example of how appeasing explicitly to casuals is a death sentence. Todd and Emil are far too complacent in relying on the community to finish development, but as many Modders have said, they just don’t care. It’s too boring to work on.
