  • Many of us who experience betrayal trauma are thrown into it. We didn’t cause it. We didn’t choose it. But here we are: suffering. The thought of pursuing our own healing when we experience betrayal seems unfair. Ultimately, it is. But we have the choice to step into healing for ourselves--to restore what has been broken and damaged. On today’s episode, we explore 7 tips or encouragements as we enter the journey of healing from betrayal. Heather Kolb, our Content Manager, joins us and shares from her experience and expertise.

What happens when the self-care of the betrayed spouse becomes an escape from the marriage completely? After 2 yrs of recovery, the self-care aspect overtook the marriage and healing process. It was all my ex cared about. She had self-care 5 days a week, and then spent the weekends with her mom and sister. My son and I would be left behind. Also, my self-care was not allowed. Playing basketball with guys once a week was not allowed.
I am a huge believer in this program. It saved my life. But I think there needs to be something about healthy amounts of self care in the process

That's a tough situation, Damen! You're right- that sounds more like escape than self-care. Both spouses need self-care, and both spouses also need to take responsibility for the shared family needs. I hope this is something you and your spouse can address together. Not easy!
