I don't know much about wow lore, but you are completely wrong about old cities in Europe having a higher population than Stormwind. Rome was the highest populated city averaging 750.000 people and peaking at around 1mil. Alexandria was the 2nd highest with 216.000 thousand. All other majer cities had a population under 100.000. And that's counting the people who lived outside the city walls.

Hi there! I'm Horde and I don't think there's a "best faction" nor that Alliance sucks. I just happen to prefer the mindset of the Horde (lore-wise, not the mindset of Horde players as I don't think they'd be better or worse than Alliance players).
I think a lot of people just say they're Horde because they think that's what they should say. Like how people will say they prefer dark coffee because they think it makes them sound tough or, whatever.
I mainly play alliance characters and I really will not lie on this it truly surprises me when I was a low-level character out in the world and something bad was attacking me I would often find a lot of horde players just showing up and helping me take out the monster or the demon or whatever. I really did like that even though I was the opposite faction they would actually stop and help me and save my ass
