I have the white Tiny Hawk. I bought all 550mAH 1S batteries EBay or Amazon. I also bought some 4 blade props that are supposed to allow Turtle mode to work. But is battery is low that won't happen regardless. You might want to try Turtle mode just to see how it works on the S model. I love my white one. So nice to have that case with all the bits in it.
Loving the one I won from emax lol. To me in acro mode it flys better than the original one on mockingbird. Acro mode tho not angle mode. Mockingbird in angle mode tho is the best. On the S version I’ve been working on a tune for it to get it close to mockingbird feel bc they haven’t made one for the 2s model yet.
This really is a great improvement but an even better improvement for me was the downloadable Beta flight cli upgrade Mockingbird tune V4 for the original tinyhawk. I so wish there was an easy to install tune like it for this Tinyhawk S.. Great video..
I’m loving mine the only thing I’ve noticed is that with the 2s battery the throttle resolution seemed really limited and yes I was on the profile 2. I only plan to really fly 1s though
Did they change the board for the S model - I received one of the original release models and my motors go through the holes in the frame and plug onto the ends of the board instead of the top like shown in this video. Also - running 2S my motors run VERY warm using their settings - haven't figured out ho to cool them down yet - no PMB for 2S yet
I don't get it on your model the motors plug in from the top just like the original tinyhawk but on my tinyhawk S and all the ones I've seen online it uses a new flight controller which you have to plug the motors in from the side? It would seem you have a not normal flight controller? Strange
The vertical connectors look like the later FC board. See the FC spare part on the emaxusa site.. the vertical connections make sense as they allow for much easier motor replacement. Sometimes reviewing something other than the first batch of a product can be useful for things like this. Happy flying!
I was thinking the same @palaHD! I was lead to believe they went to side/end plugs to stop them popping off when they were on top! Seems like a backward move, putting them back on top?
Can the built-in FrSky D16 receiver in the TinyHawk be flashed from a FrSky transmitter to either the international firmware or if needed to the EU-lbt firmware? Can the built-in receiver be swapped out to say a crossfire nano or micro receiver and if so, how is it done? And yet another wannabe newbie question I haven’t yet found an answer to. This flashing of transmitters and receivers to either international or EU-lbt firmware, does it also apply to using other makes of transmitters and receivers than the FrSky ones? If I buy a transmitter from Jumper, FlySky or buy a transmitter wit a full-size module bay and a crossfire module for that and then buy crossfire receivers, do I still have to flash all of this equipment; transmitter, crossfire module, crossfire receiver to either international or EU-lbt firmware? Just thought of yet another question...If I have another make of transmitter, say a Jumper using it in FrSky D16 mode with a micro quad having a FrSky D16 receiver, can I somehow and must I then flash the receiver on the quad to either international or EU-lbt firmware? I have yet to find one tutorial for newbies that addresses all of these need to know questions for someone who is in the process of trying to find out what to get and start out with the hobby without having to buy new gear again in just a few years after already having bought his first transmitter, receivers and modules. I have been looking at your RUclips vids as well as others and still haven’t found all the answers a newbie needs to know to be able to buy his first set of gear in this digital world. I would love to get into it, try out racing quads and FPV. I used to build rc airplanes from balsa or foam, fly with metanol engines and electric ones, use lipos. The most “modern” rc tx and rx:s I have are Futaba FF6:s. I would be very thankful and very happy if you could do a video on these issues. I know you have the experience and knowledge and love the vids an tutorials you have put up for people interested in the hobby! Still it is tough to get started out, especially for someone like me who isn’t a native speaker of English and live in Europe.
Hi Ken, The short answers are; 1) I’ve not done it but if you Google something like ‘emax babyhawk flashing receiver’ you should find any help you need 2) The most common protocol for the receiver to talk to the flight controller is probably Sbus now so it’s a simple matter of just swapping the leads.. 3) I’ve only used FrSky for so long now I’m not sure about other vendors. There are CE and non CE versions that usually have different power levels so I wouldn’t be surprised if there were other tweaks to the radios and recievers for Europe too… 4) See my Crossfire series ;) 5) Always look to have the same version of the EU/Non-EU firmware on all your kit - if it’s not mentioned in the product listing then it’s usually international.. 6) Check out the ‘Introduction to remote control’ playlist, The Introduction to the Taranis series, the Introduction to Crossfire series and the Quadcopter Building for beginners.. it is all in there.. 7) For my picks on what to use see my ‘Kit Picks’ video form August… Please see this video - ruclips.net/video/P4soR6QgOk0/видео.html - that should help you find those videos of mine and help you find the answers you need quickly and pop any more questions on a relevant video. I believe I already have seen all the vids in all the playlists you mention. Been looking at your vids for pretty long.🙂 Also been looking at a bunch of vids by Drone Camps and some others. Still, didn’t get all the answers to the questions I’m struggling with. More interested in the TinyHawk I mentioned than the BabyHawk you commented. Also somewhat confused about what software is used for what, like what Betaflight is opposed to OpenTX Companion. Guess it’s just such an enormous amount of information to digest on top of the fact that the transmitter hardware requirements of the softwares and protocols do not seem to be met by the transmitters of FrSky while at the same time those transmitters that have adequate hardware are not supported by OpenTX Companion. In other words, the field is not welcoming newcomers by being such a complicated mess. Of course, if money was not any kind of factor, the basic beginner set would be easier to gather. But when you want a sensible kit that will have some kind of longevity and a broad open source supporting forum things get scarce. I was looking at the FrSky 9 lite as it now has received D16 support . But is that already in the firmware it comes with or not? And it doesn’t have a full size module bay so no go for crossfire. Then again, does it even have adequate electronics for crossfire? Feel free to move this thread to a more appropriate topic thread. I just had so many questions that I didn’t know where to post them. Thank you for your kind advice and great vids, I honestly do highly appreciate them. They have taught me a lot. There is just so much more still that I want to understand before buying stuff.
Anyone know how to charge these new style 2s batteries on a hobby grade charger. Obviously u need to hook up the balance lead but then what, plug the ph2.0 into a balance board? I don’t have and don’t know if they even sell 1port ph2.0 to banana leads to charge this thing
Only problem I had is with the camera. I don't like it, maybe it's fine to fly indoors but outdoors when it's not really a sunny day I can't see much. Also I had small crash and the glue that held the camera got loose... Had to hot glue it so it looks bit rough. But overall its really fun to fly it. I can get over these small hickups. Btw, I have one question about a wing (sonicmodell ar 900mm). I have a problem with launching it. It's my first wing and always when I launch it, it's so twitchy that it smashes into the ground in a few seconds. It's my first wing and Ive never flown anything like this before. Do you have any advices for me how should I start to have better time? I tried like 20 times to launch it, all the time it went to the ground.
From what I've seen for that wing, you should be able to launch under good power and it climbs out nice and easy under the right circumstances. If it is twitchy, check CG and add expo. Make sure to launch into the wind and even wait for a good breeze to hit to launch into as it will give you more control until you pick up ground speed. A CG machine is not needed, but can be your friend. Or at least really make sure you have it correctly set or even nose heavy on the safer side. Wings tend to keep constant up trim, but to get you into the air a little more is fine. Start off lightly loaded and then add gear with comfort level. Soon you'll get it to be able to launch it like my fly buddy does under full throttle and already in the goggles. Make sure you also get you LOS down as well. Best of luck.
@@JoshWeaverRC CG should be allright. I guess I could try the expo, the thing is I've never dealt with anything like this before. maybe I should try something that automatically self levels.
@@fen1x_fpv I would not steer anyone away from the ZOHD Orbit Neon for any reason. I think you can get the 900 flying if all is correct but having the self level of the Orbit is nice. The lights will let you get more hours in, especially come fall. Still try to move the CG even more forward on the 900 and don't give up as I have increased expo on some planes after many failed launches and tree landings. I am starting to fly most of my planes on 100 percent rates and 50 percent expo. I looked at Andrew Newtons review on this plane and he dialed back the rates quite a lot. May have to wait for that windy day or a friend to help launch. Talk to those guys I mentioned as they have been in your shoes. JWWFPV has been on both sides of the teaching. On this quad, it is nice to hear Painless360 say it is his favorite indoor. Winter will come, and I'm seeing the laps inside this house I'm in now.
See my Introduction to flying wings series. With a good throw and enough power, a well trimmed model wing will launch easily. Things like the ZOHD models that include a stabiliser with launch mode are even easier - see my videos on them.. best of luck!
ruclips.net/video/_YNRZVJIl7k/видео.html Probably not. Unless you're using a JR module of somekind that will allow you to use the same protocol as shown in the video..
Hy there Painless! I've got my Tinyhawk last week and its already been a lot of fun. One thing i've noticed though, watching some reviews on RUclips, is that there seem to be different versions of it. Some reviewers got the Tinyhawk with the FC where the Motor plugs are towards the side, some others have it like yours (and mine) where the plugs are on top, just like the older Tinyhawk. Do you or anybody else know why that is ? Also i've heard some people say that the 2S Battery gets really hot during flight, any experience with that ?
that 250g limit is for the bin, the recent EASA things for the EU regulate below 250g down to an impact force of 80 joules and not a weight limit so 50g and fast and 100g and slow will be in the same boat. 80 joules isn't much.
